On December *28th 1734 Scotland's famous outlaw, Rob Roy MacGregor, died at home in his bed.
*some sources say 27th.
Sir Walter Scott, portrayed Rob Roy as a dashing and chivalrous outlaw. Of course, the truth was a little less glamorous. Robert acquired the name of ‘Roy’ early in life due to his mop of red curly hair. In the early eighteenth century, Rob Roy MacGregor had established a protection racket, charging farmers an average 5% of their annual rent to ensure that their cattle remained safe. He had complete control over Argyll, Stirling and Perth and could guarantee that any cattle stolen from his customers would be returned to them. Those who did not pay regretted it …as he had them stripped of all they possessed. Rob Roy was not a man to argue with!
He was certainly no Robin Hood character.
Robert MacGregor, was baptized March 7th, 1671, at Buchanan, Stirlingshire. His parents were Donald Glas MacGregor and Margaret Campbell. He was also descended from the Macdonalds of Keppoch through his paternal grandmother. Rob’s father, Donald MacGregor, a younger brother of the chief of the clan MacGregor, received a military commission from the deposed King James II after the Glorious Revolution.
Rob was a freebooter with uncertain loyalty to James VII and was also engaged in cattle stealing and blackmail. When the penal laws against the MacGregors were reintroduced in 1693, Rob took the name of Campbell. Since his lands lay between those of the rival houses of Argyll and Montrose, for a time he was able to play one off against the other to his own advantage. James Graham, 1st duke of Montrose, succeeded in entangling him in debt, and by 1712 Rob was ruined. So Rob embarked on a career of brigandage, chiefly at the expense of Montrose. During the Jacobite rebellion of 1715, he was distrusted by both sides and plundered each impartially. After the rebellion was put down, he was treated leniently because of the intercession of John Campbell, 2nd Duke of Argyll. In his old age Rob became a Roman Catholic. His letters show that he was well educated; the view of him as a mere brutish highwayman seems not to do him justice.
In January 1693, at Corrie Arklet farm near Inversnaid, he married Mary MacGregor of Comar, who was born at Leny Farm, Strathyre. The couple had four sons: James Mor – big Jimmie -MacGregor, Ranald and Robert, violent men in their own right, but that is another story
The most controversial claim concerns Roy’s behaviour during the Jacobite Rebellion of 1715 when he allegedly betrayed his clan by acting as a paid agent to help the Hanoverian army. Previously, he had been regarded as a staunch supporter of the Jacobite cause and led his clan during the first uprising at the Battle of Killiecrankie. His involvement led to government mercenaries burning down his house.
The sept of MacGregor claimed a descent from Gregor, or Gregorius, third son, it is said, of Alpin King of Scots, who flourished about 787. Hence their original patronymic is MacAlpine, and they are usually termed the Clan Alpine. They are accounted one of the most ancient clans in the Highlands and it is certain they were of original Celtic descent.
Rob Roy was eventually caught and imprisoned,. thrown into London's Newgate Prison to await transportation to the colonies as a "bonded servant," in other words, little more than a slave. In 1726, whilst still at Newgate he received a full Royal pardon and returned to Scotland there to live out his last few years.
This he did and lived the rest of his life as a peaceful, law abiding citizen… apart from the odd duel or two.
Legend has it that when Rob was lying on his death bed awaiting his maker an old foe-man of his came calling upon him. Upon hearing this Rob rose from his death-bed and armed himself to the hilt.
"Never let it be said that any enemy of MacGregor ever saw him defenceless and unarmed," were purportedly his words. When the offending person had been shown the door, Rob is reported as supposedly saying: "Now it is all over - let the piper play "Ha til mi tulidh (we return no more)," and before the lilt of the tune had drawn to an end, he slipped away............
I know many people see Rob Roy, as I said above, as some sort of Robin Hood, but others see him as a traitor and a spy, the truth is we will never know the full story, the Walter Scott version is in my opinion romantic tosh, but it sold books for the man and gave Rob Roy and legendary status in Scotland and around the world.
Every telling of Rob Roy's story I read nowadays has a different slant, as the years roll by I try to give a slightly different slant on his life, it is up to the reader to believe their own version and to seek out more about the Legend.

CHIBA, Japan (AP) — An Australian accused of smuggling amphetamines in a suitcase appeared in a Japanese court on Monday nearly two years after her arrest, saying she is innocent and that she was tricked into carrying them as part of an online romance scam.
Donna Nelson from Perth, Australia, was arrested at Japan’s Narita International Airport just outside Tokyo when customs officials found about 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) of stimulants, or phenylaminopropane, hidden in a double-bottom suitcase she was carrying.
Nelson, 58, said she received the suitcase from an acquaintance of a man she met on social media in 2020, and brought it from Laos to Tokyo as instructed. She was supposed to meet up with the man in Japan but he never showed up, according to prosecutors.
She was arrested on the spot and later charged with violating the stimulants control and customs laws. She has been in custody for nearly two years.
Monday’s trial comes just weeks after the recent acquittal of an 88-year-old former boxer, Iwao Hakamada, who was on death row for about half a century on wrongful murder convictions. That case rekindled concerns about Japan’s largely closed-door investigation processes and lengthy trials.
Nelson, in a brief statement at the Chiba District Court near Tokyo, said she did not know the drugs were hidden in the suitcase and that she was carrying them for a man she thought she loved. The man told her he was the Nigerian owner of a fashion business and paid for her trip to Japan via Laos, her lawyers said.
Prosecutors acknowledged the case is linked to a romance scam but accused Nelson of smuggling the drugs, claiming she knew the contents of the suitcase.
A verdict is expected on Dec. 4.
Nelson entered the courtroom escorted by a pair of uniformed guards who removed her handcuffs and a rope around her waist as she took a seat to stand trial. She repeatedly looked toward her daughters who were seated in the audience.
It was an emotional moment for her and her family to see each other for the first time since her arrest.
One of Nelson’s daughters, Kristal Hilaire, said she wants the court to know her mother is a good person.
“She thought she was coming to Japan for her love story. She didn’t have any other intentions other than that. And that’s what we need everyone to know and hear at the court this week,” Hilaire said.
The daughter added that the family is “just trying to be strong because when mom locks her eyes with us, I want her to feel our strength and that she will feed off that.”
Nelson’s lawyer Rie Nishida said that customs officials' limited English-language ability might have led to mistranslations and the accusation that Nelson knew what she was carrying.
In Monday's trial, a customs official testified that his colleague was mainly asking questions to Nelson in English but ended up calling an interpreter and what she had said earlier was only summed up in Japanese during an interview that was not recorded.
Nishida asked the judges and a jury panel of citizens to carefully listen to Nelson, who she said was finally given a capable court interpreter, to make a fair judgement.

A Comprehensive Guide to Stage and Lighting in Australia | Expert Tips & Solutions
Discover everything you need to know about stage and lighting in Australia. From top equipment to expert setup tips, this guide covers it all for events, theatres, and productions.
"A Comprehensive Guide to Stage and Lighting in Australia":
A Comprehensive Guide to Stage and Lighting in Australia
When it comes to hosting memorable events in Australia—be it a concert, corporate function, wedding, festival, or theatre production—stage and lighting play a crucial role in the overall success. These two elements not only enhance visibility and engagement but also shape the atmosphere and professionalism of the entire event. With Australia’s dynamic event scene and diverse venues, understanding the essentials of stage and lighting hire can make a significant difference.
The Role of Staging in Events
Staging provides the physical platform for performances, speeches, and presentations. It elevates the action, giving clear sightlines for the audience and structure to the space. In Australia, professional staging companies offer modular and portable stage systems suitable for both indoor and outdoor venues. These stages are typically customisable in height and size and are designed to be weather-resistant—an important feature for Australia’s varied climate conditions.
Staging services often include delivery, installation, safety checks, and dismantling. Add-ons like stairs, ramps, skirting, and branding panels help create a polished look while maintaining accessibility and safety. Whether it’s a small podium for a corporate talk or a large festival stage with rigging for sound and lighting, Australian stage hire companies have solutions to meet every need.
The Importance of Lighting
Lighting transforms events from ordinary to unforgettable. In Australia’s professional events industry, lighting is used not just to illuminate but also to create mood, focus attention, and enhance performances. A well-designed lighting setup can make a dramatic difference, especially for concerts, weddings, theatre productions, and fashion shows.
Common lighting options include stage wash lights, spotlights, uplights, LED panels, moving head lights, and special effects like strobes or hazers. Intelligent lighting systems, which can be programmed for movement, colour changes, and timing, are widely used for dynamic events. Australian lighting providers also offer control systems, DMX programming, and technicians to manage cues during performances.
Outdoor lighting setups are designed to be robust and weatherproof, ensuring performance in varying conditions across cities like Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
Combining Stage and Lighting for Maximum Impact
To truly elevate an event, stage and lighting should be planned together. Australian production companies often offer packages that include both staging and lighting equipment, managed by experienced crews who understand spatial design, audience flow, and safety regulations. Coordinating these elements ensures that lighting fixtures are correctly positioned, power is safely distributed, and the final setup supports both the performers and the audience experience.
For events requiring audiovisual support, many suppliers also offer integrated sound systems, trusses, video walls, and rigging services, streamlining the planning process for event organisers.
Conclusion
Stage and lighting are essential components of successful event production. In Australia’s competitive and creative events industry, investing in professional stage and lighting services ensures a seamless, visually engaging, and safe experience for everyone involved. Whether you’re planning a small indoor gathering or a large-scale outdoor concert, the right staging and lighting setup will elevate your event and leave a lasting impression.

The Ultimate Guide to LED Masks and Neck Light Therapy in Australia — Featuring CELLRETURN Australia
Introduction
In the ever-evolving world of skincare technology, LED light therapy has emerged as one of the most trusted and effective non-invasive treatments. Whether you’re combating acne, signs of ageing, or uneven skin tone, LED masks in Australia are helping people achieve glowing skin from the comfort of their homes.
More recently, neck LED masks have also entered the market, targeting an often-neglected area: the neck and décolletage. From LED therapy for the neck to full-face rejuvenation, brands like CELLRETURN Australia are leading the way with advanced light therapy technology.
This comprehensive guide explores the benefits, science, and usage of LED masks, including full-face and neck LED light therapy devices, while spotlighting premium offerings from CELLRETURN.
What Is LED Light Therapy?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) therapy is a skin treatment that uses different wavelengths of light to target various skin concerns. Originally developed by NASA for wound healing, it’s now a mainstay in dermatology clinics and increasingly in home-use devices like LED masks.
Types of LED Light Wavelengths & Their Benefits:
Red Light (630–660nm): Stimulates collagen, reduces wrinkles, improves skin texture
Blue Light (415nm): Kills acne-causing bacteria, reduces breakouts
Near-Infrared Light (850nm+): Penetrates deeper layers, improves blood circulation and healing
Purple/Pink Light (Combo): Skin rejuvenation and recovery
Amber Light: Reduces inflammation and improves radiance
LED Mask Australia: Why It’s Trending
More Australians are turning to LED light therapy for hair growth for non-surgical, at-home facial treatments that require zero downtime. These masks are popular among both skincare enthusiasts and professionals.
Top Benefits of Using an LED Mask:
Smoother, firmer skin
Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles
Enhanced skin tone and elasticity
Better product absorption
Acne prevention and healing
Reduced inflammation and redness
LED Light Therapy Mask Australia: Key Features
Today’s LED mask AU are lightweight, wireless, and user-friendly. CELLRETURN Australia, for example, integrates medical-grade LED panels and patented technology to ensure consistent results.
What to Look for in a Quality LED Mask:
Multiple light wavelengths
Safe for daily use (FDA, CE, or TGA certified)
Ergonomic design for full-face coverage
Eye protection or auto shut-off
Rechargeable and wireless options
Session timer and intensity control
LED Mask AU — A Look at the Local Market
Australian consumers are increasingly seeking LED masks AU-wide that balance luxury, results, and convenience. Brands like CELLRETURN are setting the standard by offering clinical-level light therapy in a portable, wearable format.
As more beauty clinics and dermatologists recommend at-home maintenance between treatments, the demand for reliable LED devices has surged across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
Neck LED Mask — Why the Neck Needs Attention Too
The neck is one of the first areas to show signs of ageing due to thinner skin and fewer oil glands. A neck LED mask offers a targeted approach to improve firmness, reduce wrinkles, and restore skin tone.
Benefits of LED Therapy for Neck:
Stimulates collagen in delicate neck tissue
Reduces crepey skin and fine lines
Firms sagging skin under the chin
Brightens and evens skin tone
Complements full-face LED treatments
CELLRETURN’s Neck LED Mask offers curved, anatomical coverage with near-infrared and red light therapy — perfect for anti-ageing and rejuvenation.
LED Light Therapy for Neck — How It Works
LED neck therapy uses the same light-based principles as facial masks but focuses on areas like:
Necklines (“tech neck”)
Jawline sagging
Collarbone and chest area
CELLRETURN Australia — Advanced LED Light Therapy Devices
CELLRETURN Australia is a leader in LED light therapy treatment, offering award-winning, clinically tested products that merge skincare with science. Their Platinum LED Mask and Neck LED Mask are trusted by professionals, celebrities, and skincare experts globally.

Mastering Cost Management in Australian Engineering Projects: Strategies for 2025
Introduction
Rising construction costs continue to challenge Australian developers and builders in 2025. While material prices have started to stabilize, ongoing wage inflation and growing compliance requirements are placing pressure on budgets across the industry (The Access Group). For builders, developers, and project managers asking, “How can I reduce construction costs without compromising quality?” — the answer lies in strategic cost management and value engineering.
As a leading engineering service provider in Australia, Decobu offers a comprehensive approach to cost control through our electrical engineering services, mechanical engineering services, hydraulic engineering services, and fire engineering services.
The Cost Challenge in Australian Construction
In 2024, inflation and regulatory costs led to widespread project delays and deferrals. According to BCI Central, residential project abandonment in Victoria reached 8.6% in Q3 2024, a clear indicator of the financial strain facing developers.
Whether you’re working with mechanical engineering consultants in Brisbane, electrical engineering consultants in Melbourne, or planning a project with fire engineering services in Sydney, efficient cost planning has become essential for project viability.
Value Engineering: A Proven Cost-Saving Approach
Value engineering is the process of analyzing a project’s design to identify cost-effective alternatives that maintain or improve function. At Decobu, our multidisciplinary team applies this approach across all services to deliver measurable cost savings:
Electrical Engineering Projects: Our electrical engineering consultants in Melbourne and Sydney design efficient systems using smart layouts, optimal component selection, and energy-saving technology.
Mechanical Engineering Services: Our specialists in Brisbane and Adelaide redesign HVAC and mechanical systems for performance and cost-efficiency, working with some of the top mechanical design engineering companies in Australia.
Hydraulic Engineering Services: In Perth and beyond, our hydraulic engineers help reduce material waste and installation time with smarter routing and system optimization.
Fire Engineering Services: Our fire engineering consultants in Melbourne and other locations ensure compliance and safety while eliminating redundant or over-specified elements.
Four Cost Management Strategies for 2025
1. Early Engineer Involvement
Engage Decobu’s engineering consultants in Melbourne, Brisbane, or Sydney during the concept and design phase. This allows us to flag inefficiencies and suggest cost-saving opportunities before construction begins.
2. Smart Material Selection
Selecting sustainable, readily available materials with long lifecycle value helps reduce upfront and ongoing costs. Our building services engineers in Melbourne can recommend alternatives that align with budget and performance goals.
3. Technology-Driven Design
We use Building Information Modelling (BIM) to catch design issues early and prevent rework — saving time and money on projects across Australia, including electrical engineering services in Sydney and mechanical engineering services in Adelaide.
4. Ongoing Cost Tracking
Decobu implements cost-monitoring frameworks throughout the project to help clients stay on budget while adjusting quickly to design changes or market shifts.
Case Study: Melbourne Residential Project Saves 12%
On a recent residential project in Melbourne, our team delivered 12% cost savings by redesigning the HVAC system using energy-efficient components. Our mechanical engineering consultants in Brisbane worked closely with the client to streamline installation, reduce labour time, and meet strict deadlines — without compromising performance or compliance.
Why Choose Decobu for Engineering Services in Australia
Decobu is trusted by developers and builders nationwide for delivering reliable, high-performance, and cost-effective engineering solutions. Our experienced consultants work across:

Buy Swim Spas and Dive into Daily Relaxation
In a fast-paced world filled with endless responsibilities, carving out a moment of peace can feel like a luxury. For many, the solution lies not in far-off retreats, but right in their own backyard. More homeowners than ever are choosing to buy swim spas to create a space for both relaxation and low-impact exercise—without the maintenance and size demands of traditional pools.
Why Homeowners Are Turning to Swim Spas
As the demand for swimming pools and spas continues to rise, swim spas have emerged as a versatile, space-saving solution. These units combine the features of a compact pool with the therapeutic benefits of a hot tub. Whether you're looking to unwind after a long day, stay active with resistance swimming, or entertain guests, swim spas offer something for every lifestyle.
Unlike traditional swimming pools, swim spas require less space, can be used year-round, and come with advanced temperature control. Many models also include hydrotherapy jets, LED lighting, and touchscreen control panels, enhancing the user experience without the hefty upkeep.
Health and Wellness at Your Fingertips
Swim spas go beyond leisure—they are a serious investment in your physical and mental well-being. With adjustable currents, they’re perfect for aquatic exercise, ideal for people of all ages and fitness levels. Regular use can help with:
Cardiovascular endurance
Muscle recovery
Stress reduction
Joint-friendly resistance training
For those recovering from injuries or managing chronic conditions like arthritis, swim spas provide a low-impact environment for rehabilitation and relaxation alike.
What Users Are Saying
“I was looking for something that would give me the benefits of a pool without the cost or space. I decided to buy a swim spa, and I haven’t looked back. It’s my go-to place to relax after work, and I even do my morning workouts in it.” — Monique H., San Diego, CA
“We love entertaining, but our backyard is small. A swim spa was the perfect solution. It's compact yet luxurious, and our guests are always impressed.” — Jason and Mia L., Perth, WA
Choosing the Right Swim Spa for Your Space
Before deciding to buy swim spas, it’s important to assess your specific needs:
Purpose: Are you prioritizing fitness, relaxation, or both?
Size: Measure your space to ensure a good fit. Swim spas come in various lengths and depths.
Features: Look for things like jet configurations, water temperature controls, lighting, and energy efficiency.
Installation: Consider whether you prefer an in-ground or above-ground model.
Partnering with a reputable supplier ensures the swim spa you select aligns with your lifestyle and long-term goals.
The Eco-Friendly Advantage
Many swim spas are built with sustainability in mind. Compared to traditional swimming pools and spas, they often:
Use less water
Require less energy to heat
Include efficient filtration systems
Offer energy-saving covers to reduce evaporation
This not only helps reduce your environmental impact but also cuts down on operational costs over time.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Are swim spas difficult to maintain? A: Not at all. Most swim spas are designed with built-in filtration systems, chemical dispensers, and easy-access maintenance panels.
Q: Can a swim spa be used year-round? A: Yes. One of the biggest advantages is that swim spas come with temperature controls, making them suitable for all seasons.
Q: Is a swim spa a good alternative to a traditional pool? A: For many, yes. It offers a similar experience without requiring as much space or maintenance.
Q: Do I need council approval to install a swim spa? A: This depends on your local regulations. It’s best to check with your local authority or your swim spa provider.

Final Thoughts
Making the decision to buy swim spas can transform not just your backyard, but your daily routine. Offering a blend of fitness, relaxation, and entertainment, they stand as a smart alternative to traditional swimming pools and spas. Whether you're soaking after a long day or swimming against a powerful current in the morning, the versatility is unmatched.

On 8th January 1313 the forces of Robert Bruce seized Perth from the English garrison.
Bruce was determined to take Perth, and lay siege to it but, owing to the strength of the fortifications, it defied for six weeks all the efforts of his army.
The town finally fell on this day in 1313 his day in 1313 by an army led by King Robert himself. This victory was significant as it brought all of Scotland north of the Forth under Bruce's control. However, it was also a source of embarrassment for later Scottish writers seeking to cast King Robert in a positive light, as the events of 8th January seem to have degenerated into a bloodbath.
By 1313, the tide of the war had very much turned in Bruce's favour. He had defeated his main Scottish opponents at the Battles of Inverurie and the Pass of Brander in 1309, survived an English invasion of Scotland in 1310-11, and even begun raiding into northern England. 1312 had ended on something of a sour note when the barking of a dog had thwarted a Scottish attempt to capture Berwick by surprise, but undeterred Bruce marched his men north to lay siege to Perth. Perth was no easy target - its castle had not been rebuilt since a flood in 1209 but it was still protected by a wall and a water-filled ditch. It seems that Bruce was counting on the English being unprepared for the Scots to keep up the military pressure on them during the frigid Scottish winter (normally, the campaigning season would last from spring to autumn at the most). Certainly, both the contemporary Lanercost Chronicler and the late Scottish writer John Barbour blame the fall of Perth at least in part on the negligence of the garrison. On the night of 7th January, under cover of darkness, the Scots surged across the ditch in force and threw ladders against the wall, pouring into the town and overwhelming the unprepared defenders. By the morning of the 8th, Perth belonged to Bruce.
The aftermath of the capture of Perth is a source of some disagreement among contemporary and near contemporary historians, possibly because many of those writers felt uncomfortable with the facts as they saw them. The earliest surviving account comes from the Lanercost Chronicle, which claims that those in the town 'who were of the Scottish nation' were put to death, although the Englishmen there were allowed to return home. The earliest surviving Scottish account of the incident - written by John Fordun in the 1360s - states that 'the disloyal people, both Scots and English, were taken, dragged and slain with the sword', although he attempts to mitigate this by emphasising that their disloyalty is what earned them this fate and adding that the king spared anyone who begged for mercy. Writing about a decade after Fordun, the Scottish poet John Barbour - who was writing to lionise King Robert's memory - addressed this aspect of the capture of Perth simply by denying it, claiming that Bruce had specifically ordered his men not to kill anyone unless they refused to surrender without a fight. Despite Barbour's protestations, it would seem that the capture of Perth was accompanied by considerable bloodshed. If we are being generous to Bruce - and most historians who have written about the fall of Perth have been inclined to be just that - any executions after the town's capture can be understood as a very emphatic way of discouraging disloyalty among his subjects in other towns around the kingdom, a common enough tactic in medieval warfare.
As noted above, with the capture of Perth King Robert could now claim to control all of Scotland north of the Forth. Further offensives later in the year secured Bruce's control of the south-west, so that by the end of the year only Lothian and the Borders remained in English hands, that is of course other than the stronghold of Stirling Castle.
The efforts of the Scots to bring the Lothians area, and Stirling Castle into their control would lead directly to the Battle of Bannockburn.

[ad_1] Australia dominated the proceedings on day 2. (PC: Debasis Sen) Another day, another dominating display by Australia with both the bat and ball. Steve Smith’s brilliant innings of 140 helped Australia post a mammoth total of 474. Despite the pitch quickening slightly, batting conditions remained favourable, but India found themselves in trouble, losing half their side, still trailing by 310 runs at stumps. The day began with bright sunshine and a relatively flat surface, ideal for batting. Australia capitalised on their commanding position, with strong support from the lower-middle-order. Alongside captain Pat Cummins, Smith added a vital 112 runs for the seventh wicket and reached a magnificent 34th Test century—his second of the series. After reaching the milestone, Smith shifted gears, taking a more aggressive approach. Ravindra Jadeja eventually broke the partnership, claiming three wickets, but not before Mitchell Starc and Smith added another quick 44 runs. Smith’s brilliant knock came to an unfortunate end off Akash Deep’s bowling. While Jadeja made inroads into the lower order, Jasprit Bumrah wrapped up the innings, but the other Indian bowlers struggled overall to make a significant impact in the first innings. India’s response got off to a shaky start. Rohit Sharma, opening the innings, fell victim to Cummins. This marked the seventh time Cummins dismissed the Indian skipper in Tests. KL Rahul, stepping in at No. 3, looked composed and played a few elegant strokes, while Yashasvi Jaiswal at the other end matched him with solid technique. The southpaw successfully negotiated the new ball and then played his shots. India seemed to steady the ship, but Cummins struck again, removing Rahul with a brilliant delivery just before the tea break. Post-tea, Virat Kohli took charge, partnering effectively with Jaiswal. Kohli’s judgment was much better in this innings as he was leaving deliveries outside off and waiting for the right moments to strike. He looked as assured as he was in Perth. Meanwhile, Jaiswal quietly reached his ninth Test fifty, complementing Kohli’s composed innings. The duo put together a century stand. Despite Australia’s attempts to unsettle them with field adjustments and short-ball tactics, both batters remained resolute. However, Australia regained momentum late in the day with two quick wickets. A communication mix-up led to Jaiswal’s unfortunate run-out after a well-crafted 82. Soon after, Kohli, who had looked in sublime form, edged a delivery to the keeper, falling once again to a ball outside off. These late dismissals put Australia firmly back in control as the day came to a close. Celebrant-Led Funerals & Perth’s Funeral Industry Growth: Key Numbers to Watch
The funeral industry in Perth has witnessed a significant transformation in recent years, with a growing shift towards celebrant-led funerals. This change reflects a broader movement in Australia, where personalised and secular ceremonies are becoming more popular. The rise of funeral celebrants in Perth is reshaping the industry, offering tailored services that resonate with modern families. Below, we explore how this trend is impacting Perth’s funeral industry and provide key statistics that highlight its growth.
The Number of Funeral Celebrants is Growing
The number of registered funeral celebrants in Perth has grown significantly to meet the rising demand. In the last five years, there has been a 20% increase in celebrants operating within the region, with many professionals transitioning from traditional celebrancy roles such as weddings to funerals. Today, Perth has an estimated 400 active celebrants, with many specialising exclusively in funerals.
This growth is also reflected in celebrancy training programs. Courses offering specialised funeral training have reported a surge in enrolments, indicating a strong pipeline of new professionals entering the market.
Key Industry Statistics on Funeral Celebrants and Growth
The growth of celebrant-led funerals in Perth is underpinned by several compelling statistics that highlight their impact on the local funeral industry. Here’s a closer look at the numbers:
Market Size
The funeral industry in Perth contributes over $150 million annually to the local economy, and celebrant-led funerals now account for an increasingly large share of this market. As preferences shift towards personalisation, celebrants have become a preferred choice for families. Their ability to create unique and meaningful ceremonies is not only meeting consumer demand but also driving economic activity across related sectors, including florists, venue hire, and multimedia services for memorial presentations.
Growth Rate
The Perth funeral industry is expanding at a steady 4.5% annual growth rate, with celebrants playing a pivotal role in this growth. This diversification has allowed funeral homes to cater to a wider audience, including secular families, culturally diverse groups, and those seeking non-traditional services. The shift is also driving innovation in the industry, such as the adoption of eco-friendly funerals, memorial videos, and hybrid ceremonies that blend celebrant-led services with cultural or spiritual elements. Celebrants are becoming essential partners for funeral directors, enhancing the value and range of services on offer.
Customer Satisfaction
Surveys reveal that 85% of families who choose celebrant-led funerals report higher satisfaction compared to traditional religious services. The reasons cited include:
Personalisation: Families appreciate ceremonies tailored to reflect the personality, values, and achievements of the deceased, creating a more meaningful experience.
Inclusivity: Celebrants accommodate diverse cultural, spiritual, or secular needs, ensuring all attendees feel welcomed and respected.
Flexibility: Celebrant-led funerals can be held at various venues, from beaches and parks to private homes or specialised venues, offering families more control over how they say goodbye.
Cost-Effectiveness: Celebrant-led services often provide better value, with transparent pricing and the ability to scale services to suit different budgets. This has become an increasingly important factor as families look for affordable options without compromising quality.
Additional Supporting Data
Time to Market: Celebrant-led funerals typically take less time to plan than traditional religious services, which appeals to families looking for quick yet meaningful arrangements. This efficiency contributes to the rising adoption of celebrants.
Diverse Demand: Celebrants in Perth report increasing demand for non-standard ceremonies, including those focused on sustainability, live-streamed funerals for remote attendees, and celebrations of life rather than somber memorials.
Repeat Recommendations: Funeral celebrants in Perth enjoy strong word-of-mouth referrals, with over 70% of clients stating they would recommend celebrant-led services to friends and family. This level of customer endorsement significantly bolsters their market position.
The Impact on Funeral Homes
Traditional funeral homes are adapting to this trend by integrating celebrant services into their offerings. Many now collaborate with experienced funeral celebrants in Perth to provide tailored packages. This has created opportunities for celebrants to work as independent contractors or in-house providers, further solidifying their role in the industry.
Some funeral homes have reported an increase in bookings by 10-15% after introducing celebrant-led options, demonstrating that personalisation is a driving factor for customers. This trend is expected to continue as younger generations, who place greater emphasis on individuality, make funeral decisions for their families.
Looking Ahead: Opportunities for Celebrants
The growth of celebrant-led funerals is not only transforming Perth’s funeral industry but also creating new opportunities for celebrants. Professionals who offer unique, compassionate, and personalised services are well-positioned to thrive in this evolving market.
As demand rises, it is essential for celebrants to continue honing their skills, building networks with funeral homes, and marketing their services effectively. This is particularly true for those specialising in funeral celebrant Perth services, where the competition is increasing alongside demand.
In conclusion, the growth of celebrant-led funerals is a key driver of change in Perth’s funeral industry. With rising numbers of celebrants and increasing customer demand for personalised services, this trend is set to shape the future of funerals in the region.

Khan meld hazy psychedelia and heavy stoner riffs with a penchant for progressive rhythms and almost dirge-like, industrial-scale crescendos. The songs are lyrically evocative, exuding a sense of despondency and melancholy. Vocally, their songs waver from ethereal falsetto and hypnotic crooning to impassioned wailing punctuated by occasional guttural screams. They first came into being in 2016, when three friends took up a joint residency on the outskirts of Melbourne. From there it wasn’t long before they released their ‘On Silent Space’ EP, which was in essence a brief, alt-rock journey, tinged with psychedelic nuances, perhaps giving us a glimpse of things to come. Their debut album ‘Vale’ followed in 2018. In contrast to ‘On Silent Space’, ‘Vale’ was a far grander and more expansive project that permitted the band to explore many of the outer reaches of heavy psychedelia and progressive rock, which created waves that reverberated through the underground around the world. The ripples were felt by the organizers of Progfest who invited the band to perform at the 2019 festival in Melbourne alongside The Ocean (GER), Monuments (UK) and Skyharbor (IND). In what promised to be a particularly big year, 2020 began with performances supporting Yawning Man (USA) and Beastwars (NZ) plus the announcement of Khan’s first international tour in Europe. While the pandemic crushed any hopes of the tour going ahead, it also paved the way for the unplanned release of their second album 'Monsoons', a fully instrumental odyssey delving into jam-based and post rock experimentation. The ongoing lockdowns also led to the unexpected opportunity to headline the virtual edition of Indian festival Strawberry Fields XXIV. As soon as the world began to open up again in 2022, Khan quickly launched into their much-anticipated 22 - date tour of Australia, Europe and the UK, which included performances at Esbjerg Fuzztival in Denmark with Truckfighters (SWE) and Kuba Open Air in Germany with Villagers of Ioannina City (GRC). Khan's third album 'Creatures' was released in February 2023 through Full Contact Safari Records. It is their heaviest, darkest and most dynamic album to date. Their Australian tour will include performances at Spliffs N Riffs festival in Perth, Sun Burn festival in Canberra and Nowhere Festival in Brisbane......~
