Incoming Krimbus Gift! (LLoG Edition)
Do your eyes deceive you? Nay I say! You got some LLoG writing heading your way! Before you get too excited, it isn't a complete chapter (yet!), but I thought I'd share another sneak peek before 2023 ended, seeing as the last time I posted anything was... *checks archive* Three years ago? Cripes.
Anyway, I've had a few people DM'ing me earlier this year (politely) asking if I plan to do any more writing for the LLoG AU. I told at least one of them I hoped to start writing again late summer, and I did exactly that! I've been working away at the "Hey! Creatures!" arc off and on for the past few months and have made a lot of progress.
Too much progress.
"The hell does 'too much progress' mean?" you may ask. Well. You know how "Hey! Creatures!" was only supposed to be four chapters?
It's eight chapters now.
EIGHT.
So, those that have stuck around for the LLoG AU, waiting for one more chapter, have actually been waiting for FIVE more chapters. Needless to say, things have gotten out of hand. I'm hoping to trim things down during editing, but I'm not very optimistic ^^'
Here's what it looks like so far:
Chapter 5.4 - Draft Complete. Undergoing Edits.
Chapter 5.5 - Draft Complete. Undergoing Edits.
Chapter 5.6 - Draft 90% Complete.
Chapter 5.7 - Draft 40% Complete
Chapter 5.8 - Draft Complete. Awaiting Review.
Madness. Absolute madness. But, with all the re-writes this sucker has undergone, it's an improvement. My goal (my Writer's New Year's Resolution, if you will) is to be finished and ready to post by March 2024.
ANYWAY.
I have scheduled a preview of the epilogue (Chapter 5.8) to post tomorrow. Why the epilogue? It's the least susceptible to change, for one. Also, the part I'm showing is just a fun little reunion scene set immediately after Luigi completes his mission. It's told from E. Gadd's PoV, and I've found him weirdly fun to write. Story spoilers are minor at best (things that won't really have any meaning out of context), but feel free to skip it if you rather go into the final arc completely blind.
TL;DR
I'm posting a snippet of the "Hey! Creatures!" epilogue tomorrow. It has minor out of context spoilers. Read it or don't. Mer Krimbus.

Would you say WoW is something you can play every now & again, or do you need to log in / play a lot to stay current?
something something i dont recommend it all etc etc depends on what your definition of "play a lot means". if you have a weekly raiding guild then yes you will have to log in quite a bit per week to have your gear appropriate for the content but that problem sort of becomes less relevant the longer you play just due to getting better gear. there was times last year where i would only llog in twice a week to raid and i was totally fine but it took MONTHS of grinding to get to that point where i literally had no room to improve on my character besides 0.2% improvements. if you play on your own time to collect stuff then this isnt relevant. if you play on your own time but not in a guild, like if you only do the endlessly scaling dungeon mode (mythic+) which is highly puggable and has a VERY active pug community, then yeah you don't really have any obligation to log in at any time since it turns into a quick-match type game like LOL or overwatch, but it still takes a lot of time to get good gear.
for the topic of expansion-specific content like dailies or reputation, it used to be a lot worse but right now it's genuinely not a problem. "dailies" are no longer dailies for the most part aand give you 3 days to complete them rather than one and they're so small iit doesnt even matter if you miss them. these are usually for reputations which give great rewards at higher levels and there are usually a bunch of ways to farm reputation that doesnt involve timegated / "daily" content TLDR: if youre raiding or have weekly obligations with a guild, yeah, it can get a little time consuming but over time as you gear up / get consumables then no you can only log in to raid once/twice a week if you do m+ then theres no time obligation whatsoever, its just putting your nose to the grindstone whenever you feel like it dailies/rep can be time consuming but it really depends and you can improve this without timed stuff
if you have more specific questions you can shoot me another ask

Do the trailers have to be for games that are already out, or are games not out yet allowed?
for Trailer Gauntlet I focus on games that are already released so I can snatch em up and stream them. that being said, I'm never mad to be recommended more games and I'll keep unreleased titles in mind for the future!

Do Mario and Luigi trust leaving Gooigi in the professor’s lab, or does he stay at Luigi’s house now?
Gooigi mostly stays with the professor, but it’s not uncommon for him to crash with the Mario Bros every now and then. As far as trust goes, Mario trusts that E. Gadd wants to remain in one piece, and will take his threat helpful advice to heart. Luigi was wary of letting Gooigi stay with E. Gadd at first, but Mario’s confidence in the matter assuaged his fears. That, and he noticed the professor’s sudden skittishness around his brother. He quickly put two and two together.
=
Luigi: “Do you really think Gooigi will be okay staying with the professor?”
Mario: “I do. The professor and I had a little chat, so he understands how much Gooigi means to us. I'm positive he’ll be on his best behavior.”
Luigi: “…would this 'chat' have anything to do with why E. Gadd has been so jumpy lately?”
Mario: “I don’t think so. He probably has allergies or something.”
Luigi:
Mario:
Luigi: “You threatened the professor, didn’t you?”
Mario: “What? Luigi, I would never do such a thing! I don’t make threats.”
Luigi:
Mario: “I make promises.”
Luigi: “Mario no.”
Mario: “Mario yes.”

Has Mario met Gooigi?
Mario met Gooigi right after he was rescued in the events of LM3. He was... alarmed by the gooey lad (they reminded him a bit too much of Bowser Jr.’s Mario disguise from the Delfino Island incident), but ultimately accepted them after a long talk with his brother.
==
Mario, gesturing to an oblivious Gooigi: “Bro, are you really not weirded out by this??”
Luigi: “Oh no, I completely freaked when I first met Gooigi—the professor said he hasn’t heard me scream that loud in a long time—but if it weren’t for them, I don’t know if I would have been able to save you guys. Gooigi might be a little... off-putting, at first, but they’re just as much a hero as I am.”
Mario: “Are you sure he’s not secretly evil?”
Luigi: “Positive. I’ve been in their head a lot tonight, so I think I would have noticed if anything was off.”
Mario: “I was talking about the professor.”
=
Mario and Luigi came to a silent understanding in regards to Gooigi—the ectomorph was not to be judged by what they were, nor the circumstances of their creation. Gooigi didn’t ask to be modeled after Luigi, after all. Hell, they didn’t ask for any of this! And speaking of not asking, Mario was none-too pleased to learn that his brother’s DNA had been used without their consent.
=
Mario, throwing an arm around E. Gadd’s shoulders: “Ah! Professor! Just the man I wanted to see! Walk with me, won’t you?”
E. Gadd: “Err... alright, I suppose. Is there something I can do for you?”
Mario, smiling: “In a sense. It’s about my brother. He was just telling me about how you created Gooigi.”
E. Gadd: “Hm? Oh! Yes! That was quite the scientific journey! One of the most interesting experiments of my career, for sure.”
Mario: “I bet! But I couldn’t help but notice that you made an error along the way, so I thought I’d issue a warning—something to keep in mind for future endeavors.”
E. Gadd: “Okay... what is it?”
Mario, tightening his grip on the professor: “If you involve my brother in one of your experiments without his consent ever again, I will crush you. Is that clear?”
E. Gadd, sweating profusely: “T-transparently.”
Mario: “Oh! And that also applies to Gooigi. He’s my brother now, too.”
E. Gadd: “Wait, wha—?”
Mario: “Good talking with you professor!”

I saw a comic with this premise and it got me a little curious how it would work out in LLOG. What if something happens maybe on an adventure and Luigi develops amnesia? How would King boo react to a Luigi that is completely terrified of him again and doesn't remember fighting him or anything like that?
King Boo would have conflicting emotions. On one hand, Luigi is afraid of them again. Awesome! That blasted plumber got a little too big for his britches sometimes, in their opinion, so it’s nice to see him cower in fear like the good ol’ days. On the other hand... no more banter. As much as he loves terrifying Luigi, King Boo has come to find that he actually enjoys their little verbal brawls. There aren’t many mortals that have the backbone to stand up to the king of all Boos, and there are even fewer that can parry his arsenal of sardonic quips.
King Boo would never admit it aloud, but he would be rather bummed to lose such an admirable “opponent”.
=
Boossistant: “Sire, I’m confused. Isn’t it a good thing that Luigi is afraid of you again?"
King Boo: “No, it’s annoying. Have you seen the man lately? He looks like a perpetually kicked puppy—it's pathetic! That blubbering amnesiac has sapped all the fun out of scaring him."
Boossistant: “Well, if you no longer find him entertaining, there’s no sense in keeping him around anymore, right? Luigi’s memory loss has left him very vulnerable. You could easily defeat him as he is now."
King Boo: “That’s precisely the problem! What satisfaction is to be had in defeating Luigi when he can’t even put up a fight? Even worse, he remembers nothing of our past encounters! I want to see the horror in Luigi’s eyes when he realizes that he’s finally lost—that his failure has doomed everything he knows and loves. How am I supposed to elicit that deep level of terror when that idiot can’t even recall his own name?! To strike him down now would be like smiting a stranger!"
Boossistant: “I thought you loved smiting strangers."
King Boo: “That isn’t the point and you know it."
=
Eventually King Boo would get fed up with waiting for Luigi to recover “the right way" and try and hasten the process himself (much to everyone’s confusion/horror).
=
[At Luigi’s house]
King Boo: “Step aside, trade school! You and your so called ‘doctors' have had your chance to fix this!"
Mario: “It’s been three days!"
King Boo: “An eternity in mortal time, I’m sure. Now move! I know the solution to this infuriating little problem."
Mario: “You... wait, really? How?"
King Boo: “Years of watching amnesia documentaries. Most of them are in Spanish, but I've also seen a few animated features aired on Saturday mornings."
Mario: “Those are soap operas and cartoons you marshmallow moron!"
King Boo, hefting a comically large mallet: “And they’re very informative. Luigi! Get over here! I’ve brought you your medicine."
Mario: “Stay behind me Luigi!"
King Boo: “Luigi, I swear to Jaydes, if you don’t let me hit you with this mallet, I’m going to summon shadow demons in your living room. Is that what you want, Luigi? Do you have any idea what that will do to the resale value of your home?"
Mario: “You can’t cure head trauma with more head trauma!"
King Boo: “Watch me!"
Luigi:

Glad to see the box back open! But can spirits get drunk? Imagine drunk King Boo. I think he'd be really friendly, but in a creepy way. -cat anon
Drunk spirits? Drunk King Boo?! Bruh, we are kicking off this grand re-opening of my inbox right!
Spirits can’t become “drunk" or “high" through conventional means (liquors, drugs, etc.), but they are able to “impair" themselves to obtain similar results. Prolonged exposure to certain energy currents and electrical charges can disrupt a spirit’s natural flow of energy. How it affects spectral beings varies, but most experience something akin to intoxication. It’s temporary and relatively harmless in moderation; like with mortals, overindulgence can be dangerous.
King Boo has been “inebriated" a few times over the millennia, but he doesn’t make it a habit to indulge. He’s a king after all! He needs to keep his wits about him for the sake of his people. There’s also the matter of maintaining an image (how is he supposed to strike fear into the hearts of mortals when he’s too sauced to even fly straight?).
Luigi has had the misfortune (joy?) of seeing the Master of Illusions in all their intoxicated glory. It was a complete accident, and the best part? He was the cause of it. Well, King Boo is partially to blame—he snuck up on Luigi and managed to successfully scare the lad, but in doing so, found himself on the business end of the Thunderhand. Luigi’s signature technique doesn’t typically affect spirits in this way, but he somehow, in his surprise, used just the right (wrong?) type of charge.
The results were terrible glorious.

[3 hours into Luigi’s waking nightmare]
King Boo, following Luigi like a drunken puppy: “Yer m'favorite mortal, Luigi. Did y'know that?"
Luigi, trying and failing to ignore him: “Uh-huh."
King Boo: “Really? How’d y’know?"
Luigi: “You told me. Twelve times. In the past thirty minutes."
King Boo: “Wow, yer r'lly good with numbers."
Luigi: “I’m a regular math whiz."
King Boo: “Yer a wizard too?"
Luigi: “Yep. I trained under the great Merlon himself."
King Boo: “Yer so talented. I could use a minion like you in my ranks."
Luigi: “Mm-hm."
King Boo: “Y'know what? Let’s getcha sworn in. I’m makin' you 'n honorary Boo."
Luigi: “Sounds great. What do I need to do?"
King Boo, pulling out a knife: “Just close yer eyes 'n hold still. You’ll be dead before y'know it."
Luigi: “Uh-huh, sure thing—wait, WHAT?!"
=
Bonus:
King Boo: “Hey Luigi, whatsa ghost's fav'rit typa drink?”
Luigi, sighing: “I don’t know, what is a—”
King Boo: “Spirits! HA!”
Luigi: "That's not—"
King Boo: *hysterical wheezing*

since there’s a LM3 King boo design in Mario Kart Tour, I like to imagine that at some point King Boo himself shows up at a race to ‘see what all the fuss is about’ or something and it ends in utter chaos
That’s wonderful. 😂 I think of all the spin off titles he could join, Mario Kart would be the one he’d actually enjoy.
=
King Boo: “Let me get this straight. We’re racing each other in puny go-karts through dangerous terrain filled to the brim with hazards—some of which are actual pedestrians—all while avoiding randomly generated items thrown by our fellow racers in a completely legal strategy to win?”
Luigi: “Well, when you put it that way, it sounds awful. But yeah, that’s the gist of it.”
King Boo: “Interesting. Now, just to clarify, chucking bob-ombs at the competition and running them off the track are perfectly acceptable tactics?”
Luigi: “…yes??”
King Boo: “Superb. Absolutely delightful. Where do I sign up?”

How would King Boo react if Luigi somehow built up the courage to literally cuss him out-? Like one day he decides he just done and goes off on him, what would KB’s reaction be? (and how would Mario feel if he found out?)
King Boo’s reaction would depend on the context of the incident.
In part four of “Fool Me Once, Fool Me Twice”, Luigi gives King Boo a dash of sass for the very first time. They weren’t expecting it, so King Boo was rather shocked, and quite frankly, a little annoyed by the back-talk. King Boo’s shenanigans in chapter six nearly had Luigi launching into an angry tirade, but the man recognized baiting when he saw it. Any sort of outburst would just amuse the monarch.
Luigi doesn’t exactly tear into King Boo in either of the above scenarios, but they still offer some incite as to what could happen.
King Boo making Luigi angry on purpose = yes 👍 good 👌 hilarious 😂
King Boo making Luigi angry on accident = what no 😳 how dare 😠 rude 😤
Now, if Mario found out, he would be damn proud of his little bro. He’d also be a touch miffed that he missed seeing Luigi verbally assault his archnemesis.

Do you think ghosts and Boos can get hiccups?
Ghosts can experience hiccups through something called “mortal echoes”—an odd phenomenon where the spectral form of a previously living entity mimics the biological functions of their mortal body. It’s not a true hiccup, just a bizarre "memory" of one. This applies to other behaviors/reactions as well; sweating and shivering, for example. No one knows why/how it happens, only that it is entirely subconscious.
Boos (and spirits in general) cannot get hiccups, as they lack the physical means to do so. They can’t experience it vicariously through mortal echoes, either, because they never had a mortal body to begin with.
Though I must say, if it were possible, it could lead to some awkward moments. 🤔

King Boo: “At last! I have you trapped, Luigi!”
Luigi: “I’m not trapped, I’m cornered. There's a difference.”
King Boo: “Is there, though?”
Luigi: “Yes, actually. I still have a chance to escape.”
King Boo: “Oh, I don’t think so. This ends here, Luigi! Prepare to meet your do—om!”

Luigi: “Meet my what?”
King Boo: “Hold on. Let me try again.”

King Boo: “I will c—ut your tongue out, plu—mber.”
Luigi: “Okay, okay, geez. Just get rid of your hiccups and start from the top.”
King Boo: “You sa—y that like i—t’s easy.”
Luigi: “It is. All you have to do is close your eyes and lightly touch your eyelids with your pinky...”

Mario is usually shown as the musical type and luigi is seemingly indifferent, what if luigi hums in the luigis mansion games bc it makes him think of mario
That’s so sweet! I’ve always thought Luigi hummed in the games because it helps keep his mind off the terrifying reality of trapezing through haunted buildings. 😂 Let us combine the two headcanons into one glorious thing!
Luigi hums to distract himself, humming makes him think of Mario, and being reminded of his brother gives Luigi sTrENgTh
