J and L? :)
J - Juggler
Full Name: Yelena Dmitryevna Pisarenko
Nicknames, If Any: Juggler (Zone alias); Lena
Gender: Cis female
Sexuality: Pansexual
A Song I Associate With Them: Feel Invincible - Skillet
3 Important Relationships:
- Hyena - SO - an absolutely bonkers Freedom veteran; their relationship is very enemies-to-lovers. These days, Juggler values his ability to see the bright side in any situation (plus they both have the same kind of concern and affection for Rookies)
- Smog - friend/business partner - a Stalker with a talent for acquisition; Juggler buys stolen equipment and guns from her, fixes them up and sells them on. They like to sit together in Juggler’s workshop, have a few drinks, and bitch about anything & everything.
- Acer - friend - a Japanese scientist; after he approached her in the 100 Rads bar, Juggler took it upon herself to show this guy how Zone society works. They’re both scientists (although he’s a botanist), so there’s that in common, but really it’s... a confusing friendship. (Acer belongs to @greenzaku)
2 Fears: Losing the people she cares about, and being outside during a thunderstorm
1 Element of their backstory: She loses her arm to a Bandit with a shotgun, and ends up using her biomechanical engineering knowledge to make her own prosthetic arm (partly using stolen military tech)
L - Ludwik
Full Name: Ludwik Lewandowski
Nicknames, If Any: Lutz
Gender: Trans male
Sexuality: Gay
A Song I Associate With Them: We Are Not Alone - Karla Devito
3 Important Relationships:
- Kamal - boyfriend - it’s gay! it’s gay as hell! Ludwik is the “let’s get mcdonalds at 2am” one, Kamal is the brake pedal & voice of reason. This shit works!
- Tomasz - friend - Mutual friend of both Ludwik and Kamal; he’s the one who got them set up on their first date. Both him and Ludwik are sarcastic disasters, with some neurodivergence solidarity thrown in
- Lidia - older sister - Confidant, chaos enabler, supportive backup, shoulder to cry on; is there any role this woman hasn’t filled??
2 Fears: Being alone, and GEESE
1 Element of their backstory: His mum helped him choose a new name when he came out as trans

"Don't even think of wearing those maudlin rags to my funeral. When I pass, wear your most fashionable - or favorite outfits. I will judge your fashion choices from the beyond."
The opening statement of Lena's will.
Despite themselves, those words caused a few to chuckle, some to break out into harder sobs, and her sons to merely shake their heads at their mother's final words. Even in death, Lena was going to do things her way. Lena had known her time was coming and she had prepared. Everything was planned and paid for, and the only thing she'd been waiting on to fulfill her last wishes...well, was to die.
Lena's last days were spent shopping, discussing fashion with Jacklyn, seeing her friends, and going out on dates. None of the men she'd dated since Gordon's passing had lasted long. They weren't Gordon and she was still in love with her dearly departed husband. She, of course, loved the compliments these men paid her and she liked the conversation but ultimately wanted nothing more than friendship with them. Jacklyn was the one to discover that Lena had passed, but if not for the unnatural stillness - you'd have thought that Lena was merely sitting in a chair; watching one of her programs.

In Memoriam of Lena Zofi Gosnoll
1906 - 1977
Lena Zofi Lewandowski came to Simerica with her family as a very young child. She didn't remember Poland, but her Polish heritage lived on her as her family instilled their native values and traditions into her. Not one to be kept chained to the old ways, however; Lena sought out her own American dream and pursued an education that landed her a position within Fitz Motor Company. She worked for Fitz for a number of years, meeting and then eventually working alongside her husband of 34 years, Gordon Gosnoll.
Not only did she marry Gordon, but she adopted his twin sons, Everett and Frank. She and Gordon had two more sons, Gordon and Thomas, and together they would see 3 of their sons reach adulthood. Lena was a voracious reader, usually pouring over the lastest fashion magazines. Her love of fashion was legendary and she was never not in style. She shared this love of fashion with her daughters-in-law and granddaughters.
Lena will be sorely missed by the whole of her family and is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Gosnoll, her sons, Everett and Thomas Gosnoll, and her granddaughter, Andrea Gosnoll. She is survived by her sons, Frank and Norman, and their wives, Jacklyn and Lillian, as well as, 3 granddaughters.

Gordon had gone to take a nap one afternoon because he'd felt a migraine coming on and he simply never woke up. The loss of their patriarch shook the family. He had been a steadfast anchor for the family for so long that his death left a gaping hole in the family.
While baby Bette slept in the car, they all gathered for a private graveside funeral with a larger wake to be held at the house later. He lay near his sons, Everett and Thomas who were buried next to each other. Norman comforted his wife and mother while Frank held Jacklyn. Even though they all lived in very different parts of the country now, Gordon had helped keep the fabric of their family tightly knit.

Lillian welcomed Lena in as Norman and Gordon got the bags. "Oh, my gracious! You wouldn't believe the traffic from the airport. You don't know how happy I was to see that little ferry of yours," Lena exclaimed as she came into the house. Lillian tried to soothe Lena the best she could, but as Lena got older her emotional demonstrations got bigger and bigger. Norman had described how his mother would ooze happiness and you could literally feel the happiness coming off of her. Lillian had smiled at him when he'd first told her about this phenomenon, but now she got it.
"Why don't we go outside? Norman is going to fire up the grill and we can enjoy the sunshine." Lillian ushered them outside to their quaint little patio. Once they were settled, Lillian leaned over and spoke softly, "Lena, I mean - Mom, I didn't want to do this over the phone and I told Norman not to tell you, but we're pregnant again." Lena pressed her hand to her chest and broke out into one of her trademark full-face smiles. I don't know why I said it so quietly. There was no way she was going to stay hushed. Lena straightened herself in the chair and proceeded to quiz Lillian about every aspect. "How are you feeling? Are you seeing the doctor? Are you ready, dear?" Lena had the most innate ability to make a person feel like they were the only ones in a space and devote her whole being to the conversation. While Lillian did find it to be overwhelming, she also loved every moment of it.
While the women chatted, Gordon came over to give his son a proper hello and embrace. "I love you, son. I'm very proud of you," he whispered in his ear. Norman pulled back and nodded at his father. Then he shooed him off to the table with their wives and got back to the ribs. They spent the entire afternoon outside, enjoying good food and even better company.
**We're going to take another minute to appreciate the pure joy on Lena's face. I swear this little pixel woman cannot keep a smile off her face. She's by far the most animatedly emotive set of pixels I've ever played.

As a graduation/wedding gift, Gordon and Lena purchased the newlyweds a house. It was on the outskirts of Laangley, in a subdivision that had cropped up after the war. Norman would have to take the ferry every day to work, but the views were worth it. It was also quite the largest house in the area. "How many children do you think we're going to have?" Norman had joked with his father.
As Norman looked out on his current view, he couldn't be more content. Lillian and his mother had spent many an afternoon pouring over just how to decorate the house and Norman was quite pleased with how it had all come together. As her third trimester neared, Lillian lacked her usual energy and quite often fell asleep as they watched the television in the evening.
As he gazed at his wife, Norman couldn't help but remember the face his mother had made when Lillian had chosen the photo for their wedding portrait. It was not one of the staged and poised photos Lena would have chosen. Lillian liked that she didn't look as pregnant in the photo she chose, and Lena hadn't been able to argue with that.

Norman's parents flew across the country to spend Thanksgiving with him. He was shocked at how much they'd aged since Thomas' funeral. His father had gone completely gray, and his mother had a few more lines around her face and neck than she'd had. Norman very much enjoyed their visit and he promised to visit them soon.

With a final wave goodbye to his family, Frank set off for boot camp in Sim Diego. He was a little sad that he wouldn't be seeing a different part of the country, but at least the weather was nice.
Gordon held his family as he tried to remain strong, but the memories of The Great War flooded his mind and all he could do was offer up a prayer that his son would be alright. He knew that Frank had this romanticized vision of being able to be a hero, but the reality was that they may never see him again. He had tried to tell his son about the harsh realities of war, but Frank hadn't wanted to listen and some of those memories were still too painful for him to talk about. He watched his son walk away, and prayed that they'd see him again.
