where: the med centre who: @akhilaasthana
Lindi prided herself on being a very prepared woman. Her purse was packed to the brim and efficiently organised with anything she might need in a given day and then more. Her paper diary, pens, perfume, soaps, make-up, comb, hair ties, charger, wallet and keys. Already her phone charger had proven useful, even though all of her messages back home had yet to get through. However, in the face of being here for more than a few days, Lindi's decanted supply of medicines (hayfever, antiemetics, triptans, propanolol, ibuprofen) was looking rather slim. Especially given the fact that she kept getting strange, migraine-auras.
There was apparently a medical centre all prepared for them, probably with horrible off-sky blue walls and clashing beige linoleum and that horrible antiseptic hospital smell that Lindi couldn't stand. Lindi wanted to get her medicines topped up so she didn't get a migraine that meant she had to lie down in a dark room without moving for fear of vomiting.
The problem was that Ms Akhila Asthana was one hundred percent likely to have taken charge of the medical centre. And after seeing Akhila and her wife, British tennis legend Hannah Moss, Lindi had finally clicked where she had known Akhila from. A horrible charity dinner, where she had drunk a little too much champagne and tried to be suave and cool, only to look like a meek fool.
It was fine, it was one stupid evening that Akhila had probably forgotten. Her therapist was always eager to remind Lindi that, while she was incredible, most people did not linger over every supposedly embarrassing moment she had experienced whilst in their presence. Only her anxiety made it feel that way. And Lindi was stronger than her anxiety, the bouncy, twitchy, erratic animal part of her brain that was prone to overreaction. She was gorgeous and charming and most people would overlook the occasional gaffe or faux pas that she would spend hours ruminating on after the fact. She could face Akhila. Akhila probably didn't even remember that one evening, she probably went to hundreds of charity galas with her posh tennis star wife.
Lindi entered the medical centre, nose wrinkling at the horrible hospital smell that wafted towards her. Ugh, she hated hospitals. Time to be a big girl, Lindiwe. She closed the door behind her, unnerved by how… prepared the waiting room was, a water cooler, uncomfortable looking bench seating, and complete with stacks of magazines straight from 1999. (What was with this place and outdated, vintage, media?) Lindi popped her head into the hallway that lead deeper into the medical centre, searching for a light switch.
Tumblr media
"Hello?" she called out, her voice echoing off of the hallway and sounding incredibly stuck up and posh. "Akhila? Ms Asthana? I uh… brought you some water." A sealed bottle scavenged from the cruise ship, and an effort to trade back the water bottle she'd lent to Akhila yesterday. Now that she had seen the water cooler, her opener seemed a little week. There was a beat of silence. Lindi stepped forward. "Maybe you need a... chaise lounge?" she offered, hoping the joking tone carried well.

Astrological Outlook and Personality Analysis for Individuals with a June 3rd Birthday
Smart, chatty, exuberant and with a unique capacity for movement and change of climate, with a specific propensity to the roaming life. Imperious, anxious, dynamic, fiery individuals - they show conciliatory abilities and can capably track down their lifestyle. They frequently show a specific familial person, despite the fact that they are typically enthusiastically forfeited for other people. They can be impassive, chilly, unconventional. The best calling for individuals brought into the world on this day is connected with scholarly work, the press, news-casting, instructing or travel. They likewise show surprising expertise in manual work and have creative capacities. Their imperfections: they are to some degree malignant, bad tempered, and, surprisingly, handily irritated. They appreciate sterile contentions and immaterial questions. These imperfections are more unmistakable in individuals brought into the world during the day. What undermines them? Collaboration and associations with others will be fairly challenging for them. They will most likely be unable to pivot unreasonable changes, whether inside or brought about by life altering situations. In such a case, your life is spent in interruptions and diversion. Lindy’s Apartment
Lindy’s apartment is simple but elegant. Being only one person, and spending as much time as she does at the beach, she opted for a one-bedroom apartment, located a reasonable distance from both West Point Beach and Ethae Cafe & Library, her main place of employment. There is an airy and elegant air to her apartment. Lindy wanted somewhere that felt cozy and welcoming to come back at the end of a long day. She also wanted to make sure that any company she invited over would be comfortable. Her only rule is to take your shoes off at the door, otherwise she wants her guests to feel right at home.
Lindy decorated her apartment in a blend of a rustic and costal style, paying homage to her childhood growing up in the Abbott family’s ranch house and the summers spent on the beach. The color palette is very neutral, but Lindy feels that it comes off as lively instead of drab and boring, the white and beige being accented with blues and yellows.
In order: Bedroom, living room, living room shelf, bathroom, throw pillows, kitchen.

Apprenez à connaître leurs couleurs F / W19 - BAGAHOLICBOY
Tumblr media

Glory.
So, Rome, status assessed by death of slaves, (I cant see a higher currency, than having slaves fight to the death for your entertainment.
I,e higher status can only be demonstrated by such.
Gladiators (thank you Lindy Beige) have low status, high attraction.
But anyway, get working, be super efficient. Figure out what your company is worst at.
Get good at that.

Real Life Rooms: Decorating Ideas for a TV above a Fireplace
Hey there Remodelaholic readers! Dawn here, from AD Aesthetic, and I’m back this month with another reader question mockup to hopefully inspire some creative ideas for your cost effective bathroom update. If you’ve missed any of my previous reader question mockups, you can always see all my posts here.
If you follow Remodelaholic on Facebook, you’ve probably seen several of the reader questions that are submitted every month. Well each month here on Remodelaholic, I choose one reader submitted photo to offer my two cents on, and I create a Photoshop mock up of what I would do if I were in your shoes! (Pssssst— you can submit your reader questions by messaging Remodelaholic on Facebook. Be sure to include a good quality photo!)
First though, my standard disclaimer: While I can recommend ideas that I think look nice, I have never seen this house in real life and don’t have accurate measurements. I am also not an architect or landscaper and do not know the planting recommendations for your area- I just like to make things look nice. I can’t guarantee that any of the items I put in my ‘virtual’ design will actually work in real life (or that they’ll fit your design style for that matter), and this is not intended to be a professional design consultation. So think of this as a just-for-fun rendering that hopefully gets your wheels turning and provides some inspiration!
On to the fun!
READER QUESTION from Amber — Needing help updating my fireplace/mantel area…any suggestions? Thanks!
There are those who are adamantly against hanging a TV over a fireplace, but I’m not one of them. Sometimes it is the only place it works, and sometimes it is personal preference, but whatever the reason, hanging a TV over the fireplace doesn’t have to be an absolute no-go, and can actually look really nice.
Ideas for Decorating Around a TV over the Fireplace
Here are a few examples to prove it, starting with Justin and Cassity’s black painted brick fireplace and easy DIY wood mantel — the black made a huge difference to hide the TV and make the Christmas mantel decor pop.

Tips for Decorating Around a Fireplace with a TV
Here are a few things I did when updating Amber’s fireplace decor.
Include Contrasting Colors
First of all, I felt like there was not nearly enough contrast overall. The beige wall, orange-toned wood, and red brick, all have a similar warm undertone. The wood and brick, especially, are so close in color, that it is almost hard for the eye to immediately define where one stops and the other starts. To help define the area, I kept the wood tones untouched (since they flow so nicely into the baseboards) and whitewashed the brick surround. I also painted the interior of the fireplace black, rather than white. This gives it more of a sense of depth, and also helps keep the black TV from sticking out too much. The wall color is optional, but I love how the cool tones really make the woodwork pop, while the darker color helps the television blend in slightly more, so it isn’t such a stark contrast between it and the wall behind it.
Bring in Some Life
Greenery automatically brightens any space, and adding some plants in a decorative wooden box helps break up the gaping fireplace opening, while incorporating some more wood into the overall decor, helping everything blend together. A few more plants on the mantle make sure the greenery isn’t confined to just one place, which could make it look out of place.
Add Decorative Elements
Finally, I added some fun, decorative elements.Really these could be anything you like, or fine meaning in, but keep in mind the scale and colors you’re adding to the space. For example, I chose a few objects with some darker colors (the fan light and ruler) to further tie in the black of the television. I also brought in some texture with the macrame garland and woven basket. Finally, I juxtaposed the digital media of the TV with some books lined underneath. Turning them spine-in keeps them in a cohesive color palate, and doesn’t take away too much focus from the other elements.
Consider Scale
I mentioned scale above, but I think it deserves it’s own callout. One of the issues I see people run into quite a bit when decorating is scale. Having items that are too large or too small for a space is a sure way to make everything feel off. In the original photo you can see this at work. The candles and lantern are too small and disjointed. This makes the television look much too large for the space. The ladder decor is also a bit large, making the fireplace seem tiny in comparison. In the after photo, the fireplace is what draws the most attention, and the decor is sized appropriately to make sure that it all compliments the fireplace. Having elements that come run under the television as well as those that break that line and jut higher on each side, makes it seem like part of the decor, and help it feel proportional. Finally, having another element (the ruler art) that is of similar height to the TV, helps it feel even more incorporated by ensuring that it isn’t the highest object in the room (giving it unwanted visual hierarchy).
So what do you think? What would you do if this were your home?
As always, thank you to Cassity and the Remodelaholic team for having me back each month. If you like this post, and have a design dilemma you’d like me to mock up some ideas for, you can ask your questions by sending Remodelaholic a message over on Facebook, or checkout my mockup design services over on my site adaesthetic.com.

With all that television/fireplace inspiration, here’s what I did to give new life to Amber’s problem area.
