Mark Passing
Mark x No Slot = 50% chance the mark passes [Normal Conditions]
Mark x Mark = 75% chance the mark passes [Ideal Conditions]
Mark x Dueling Mark = 50% chance a mark passes, 50% chance it's one mark or the other [ Bad Conditions], 50% chance neither mark passes
If you've ever wondered why some kings require lionesses to have a certain amount of marks before they breed her, it's to get your money while giving you a 75% fail chance of copying their king. You take the risk for potatoes, they get guaranteed payment.
Mark (Powder'd) x Mark = 85% Chance the mark passes [ Assisted Conditions ]
Mark (Powder'd) x Mark (Powder'd) = 95% chance the mark passes [Ideal Conditions]
Ochre Powder with different marks has not been tested.

“You want me to lie? To quit? What do you want?!”
Ignore the haters. I think they’re all just used to newbies being incapable of using the wiki or guides. Also this is a lioden salt blog. I think we’re all professional haters to some extent lol
Honestly, if you read the guides and the wiki it IS fairly easy to pick up on the basics of ld! We don’t see this often (at least I don’t), so it’s kind of odd.
Please don’t let this drive you off of lioden! The community can be really great.

YOOOOOOOO NO WAY U LOT ARE BACK
we are! after a few conversations with mod cryptic (and me finally graduating from university and returning to lioden) we've decided to return in full-force!
so what does that mean for you? well... we're currently working on updating our blogs theme! if there are sudden colour changes, or the icon moves around, or if one of our buttons is no longer functional, feel free to reach out and tell us!
we're also introducing a new page to this blog entirely for guides regarding each months currency and storylines, with links to the wikipedia pages as well as providing some of our own tips and tricks for general gameplay, the market and more! (this may be condensed into an entirely separate page too)
what's important is that we really want to emphasise that we're back and we're still a salt blog! we want to listen to the player bases ups and downs with the game and provide a safe, healthy outlet for the community to vent as they see fit.

This is a small project where I attempt to document all my ocs and their respective stories, mainly for my own reference. Most if not all of these characters are inspired by music, and their names are often a direct reference to the songs they're inspired by (ex. Dusk's Guide on How 2 Make Bank
A humble biography of a Lioden player who has developed a problem of having Too Much Shit.
I've been playing Lioden since mid 2014, on and off, but it hasn't been until the last year or two that I've really buckled down and gotten deep into it! For the very few followers I have right now who may appreciate the tips, here is how I've made BANK on Lioden:
Monthly Events
Really, that's all there is to it. Be aware of the monthly events that produce the most profit and keep an eye on the game market over time. Use the demand for previous months' items to your advantage! In the span of about half a year, I got enough currency and items to buy 2 First Generation Leopons, A Hexa-Dawn heir, 3 Mukomberos, more marking and base apps than I care to count, other random instant-gratification type goodies, and STILL have items and $$$ left over.
DISCLAIMER: Keep in mind, what I've done is far from perfect profit, and I've entirely skipped quite a few profitable events. All of the values I use below is using the average MAXIMUM market value for each item. Maximum market value usually occurs 6-7 months After the respective event, OR a month or two before the item returns as some items like Buffalo and lion scrotums are available in more than one monthly event.
All my event currency was collected using two accounts (my main and side). This method can be used to maximize your personal profit regardless of how much you grind, as long as you end each event with enough currency to buy some of the "token items" by the end of the month.
EVENT 1: SEPTEMBER (Locust Plague)
TOKEN ITEMS: Ochre Gnawrocks (150 JB) / Maximum Value ~60-70 GB GMO Cows (150 JB) / Maximum Value ~50-60 GB
Without straining myself to grind, I still managed to make about 3,000 JB and some change by the end of the month. I bought 10 GMO cows and 10 Ochre Gnaws, exactly. I buried them in my hoard to await the next month.
EVENT 2: OCTOBER (To Hell with Rabies)
TOKEN ITEMS: Crunchy Worms (300 BB) / Maximum Value ~50-60 GB Shadows of Death (30 NF) / Maximum Value ~15 GB Angelic Blessings (60 DS) / Maximum Value ~20-25 GB
This is where the main idea of my strategy comes into play! Personally, I split my two accounts between the storyline options to give myself access to BOTH Angelic Blessings and Shadows of death, but this works just as well if you double-down on one side.
Grind BB and NF/DS to your heart's content. At the end of the month, use your currency to buy as many Crunchy worms, AB and SoD as you can manage.
MOST IMPORTANTLY... dig up your buried Gnawrocks and GMO Cows.
In the trading center, put these items up for trade one at a time in exchange for MULTIPLE crunchy worms. I asked for about 2-3 crunchy worms per Gnaw/Cow, and that amount sold well.
By trading in most of my Gnaws + Cows for multiple Crunchies each, in addition to my own grinding, I ended October with 60 Crunchy Worms, 2 Gnawrocks, and 2 Cows. I turned my ~1200+ GB hoard into a ~3500+ GB hoard (not including the SoDs or AB from the heaven/hell shops)
Bury your worms.
EVENT 3: FEBRUARY (Aphrodisia)
TOKEN ITEMS: Buffalo Scrotums (60 HS) / Maximum Value ~45-50 GB Lion Scrotums (80 HS) / Maximum Value ~55-65 GB Yohimbe Barks (30 HS) / Maximum Value ~20-25 GB
If you don't grind any other month of the year, February is the event I highly recommend you GRIND THE HELL OUT OF! February is the single biggest cashcow event on Lioden with so many valuable breeding items being offered in the shops at one time.
At the end of this past February, I accrued about 5,000 total HS with constant grinding. I bought 120 Yohimbe Barks, 20 Buffalo Scrotums, and a couple lion scrotums at the end of the month.
Again, i dug up the crunchy worms from my hoard, and traded half of them for Yohimbe Barks and Buffalo Scrotums.
For 1 Crunchy worm, I asked for 4 buffalo scrotums OR 8 yohimbe barks.
At the end of February, I ended up with 100 Buffalo Scrotums, 160 yohimbe barks, and 30 Crunchy Worms.
My ~3500+ GB hoard had become a nearly ~10,000 GB hoard
I'm not totally proud to say that I immediately dumped about half of my yohimbe barks into failed hybrid breedings, essentially tossing 1700+ GB down the drain... but hey! It's part of the game and thrill of the gamble.
This is where I've ended my profit-maximizing and also where I decided to splurge most of my hoard on the previously mentioned expenses. I did NOT trade most of these items for their full MAXIMUM value as I did not wait for their values to increase on the market. I traded most of my hoard's potential value for instant gratification, but I'm still very happy with what I've achieved given that it did not cost a cent of IRL money and did not take so much effort that it disturbed my IRL obligations!! Keep in mind, I worked full time all while playing this game, so it's do-able!
I fully plan to repeat this process (;
Thank you to the 2 people maybe reading this, and I hope it's helped<3

sunita’s impromptu guide to making sb & gb
nesting material!
just hoard all of your feathers and other nesting materials for a few months then craft them all into nesting materials. I typically sell mine for 400-500 SB per bundle of 10 (10 nesting material in monkey business would be 600 SB). They sell well and fairly quickly.
the main downside being that it can be beyond tedious to craft all of them (though I enjoy the repetition soo).
sell your food!
this is most reliable in months where food is at its normal drop rate in explore (not in months like january or march)
I tend to sell 50 uses (from large carcasses) for around 700 SB
on months where food can be found in larger amounts in explore you can just sell it off in monkey business and make a decent amount
breeding items!
grind in those months like february where you can pick up breeding items and hold tight to them for a couple of months before selling them off. you can generally get a nice chunk of GB for them later on.
this mostly applies to things like: gmo cows, buffalo scrotums, grains of paradise, and yohimbe barks.
event applicators
new event applicators can also net you some GB, especially when they first come out, but some of them may end up being better to hold onto until later as like breeding items they may increase in value outside of the month you bought them in.
event currency
if there isn’t much you want in an event shop for a certain month it might be more worthwhile to auction off your event currency if you’re still planning on playing through the event.
keep in mind if you’re going this route that you might be better served by buying things like breeding items outright and saving them instead of auctioning off all of your currency. you’ll probably be able to make more that way.
uber rare explore drops
if by some sort of black magic you end up finding an exclusive item like mukombero, a solaris app, or an interstellar remnants app consider whether you want it / plan on using it.
if you’re not invested in these sorts of items you can usually sell them off for a not insignificant amount of GB.
your mileage may vary for any of these buy I’ve found they work pretty well with my play style. I tend to alternate between being super active for a while to straight up disappearing for a couple of months so long-term plans like investing in the newest base isn’t practical.
I also tend to avoid buying things like decor and backgrounds to resell later unless I’m alright with keeping them long-term since I don’t usually end up investing enough time into keeping up a sale thread to sell them off.
hopefully this helps a bit ^^

BO Classifications - Standard, True, and Light
[IMAGES ON ORIGINAL SOURCE]
NOTE: BO breeders are not a monolith in their beliefs and this guide is based off my own experiences and practices regarding BO Breeding. That being said, do not take it as the gospel. Feel free to adopt it, model your own views off of it, or ignore it completely. Up to you.
The Marks in Question
Standard BO Marks
Often simply called BO, Standard BO Markings encompass all of Tier 2, some of Tier 3, and overlap with (but are distinct from) Tiers 4 and some tier 5 marks.
Tier 2 Markings are also known as Raffle Marks. As the name suggests, they come mostly from the Raffle Lionesses that drop weekly. They can also be obtained from May Groupies. Though widely considered BO by BO communities, it must be noted that this only technically true. Tier 2 markings, as well as Tiers 3 and 4, can all be applied via the RMA, RMR, or Total Shuffle, which are applicators that are available year round. The chance of getting a Tier 2 Marking is less than 1%, at 0.5%. To put that into perspective, the Jaglion Boost trigger change is 0.006%.
Tier 3 Marks are the most diverse; they include applicator(T3A), event (T3E), wild (T3W), maneater (T3M), and july marks (T3J). However, only some of these are considered Standard BO: Wild Markings (Marigold Body Marks, Copal Body Marks, Clay Body Marks; NO mane marks are considered BO), Maneater Marks ( Outlaw, Ruffian, Scoundrel, ect.), and July Markings (Celestial Speckles, Dawn Shine, Stratosphere Vit, Prismatic Flare, ect.) are considered Breed Only. Wild Markings are generated from NCLs (NOTE: some Wild Markings are common and will be labelled as Tier 0). Maneater Marks come from Maneater Studs. July Marks come from the July Lionesses. However, they can appear in the RMA and will show up on Raffle Lionesses as well.
The 1.14.19 Girl has 3 Maneater Traits
The 7.22.22 Girl has 4 July Traits
The 3.12.21 Girl has Three Wild Characteristics
Tier 4 Marks are reserved for non-hybrid rosettes. These are your Shaded, Inverted, Soft, Heavy, and Standard Rosettes. Like the other Tiers, they can be acquired via Weekly Raffle Lioness and RMAs, but are unique in that they can potentially appear in any breeding. Groupies, too, can have these markings. The chance of a random rosette spawning can be augmented by using a Leopard Tail during a breeding.
True Breed Only
Since almost every mark can be applied via the RMA, this technically means none of them are truly BO except Tier 5 Marks. "Breed Only" is therefore a general term, meant pragmatically. Tier Marks are restricted from the RMA and from appearing on Groupies. They include Enclave Markings, a rarer but nonetheless year-round available applicator, and the Hybrid Markings, which is what we will be talking about. Hybrid Marks are slot-locked and come from Hybrids: Jaglions, Tigons, and the original Hybrid the Leopon. These are the Mottled Rosette (Slot 6 Locked), Mottled Stripes (Slot 8), and Phantom Rosette which comes in slots 2, 4, and 7. These marks are also never on raffle lionesses, meaning they are bred into the game from First Gen Hybrids and then spread from those hybrids across the game. This means Tier 5 Hybrid marks are the only true Breed Only markings.2, 4, and 768
BO Light / Lite
Where people tend to start disagreeing about What is BO and what is not BO is in regards to Event Marks and RMA markings. These are Tier 3 and Tier 6 respectively. Some consider them BO, some consider them applicator, and even some people such as myself view them as "BO Lite" -- that is, they are BO but are not as desirable as Tiers 2, 4, 5, and T3W/J/M. However, they ARE more unique and valuable than Applicator and Custom Markings. I personally consider RMA Exclusives to be marginally more desirable than T3E marks and considerably more desirable than T3A marks, but inferior to T3W and T3J.
Tier 6: RMA Exclusive - RMA Exclusives come exclusively from the RMA, RMR, and Total Shuffles. They can also spawn on Groupies. Unlike with Applicators, individuals markings cannot be specifically chosen and the chance of one being chosen at all is only 5 out of 100. This is significantly more than every other non-custom/common marking chance from the RMA. Nonetheless, RMA exclusives have the exact same application paths as Tier 2 Marks. THIS is why they are considered BO by some people. This they show up on Raffle Lionesses with decent frequency.
Ebony Okapi on the 7.12.19
Ginger Quagga on the 9.15.23
Cimmerian Nyala on the 7.26.24
Tier 3 E - Event Markings
Event Markings are month specific for most of the year. They are introduced into the game VIA NCLs during a certain month and can only be obtained through RMAs, Groupies, or Breeding after that month has passed. Ordinarily this would put them in the Breed Only category, but during November they can be applied in restricted fashion by the Ancestors. People who do NOT consider them BO tend to refer to them as "Piety Marks".
To some in the BO community, this is what makes them applicator-esque and again, even some BO breeders who DO consider them BO in spite of this place them low down in the hierarchy of desirability. However, the fact that this event is month locked and these marks have no specific applicator that can be taken out of the month and used makes me personally consider them BO, albeit BO lite. For the majority of the year you are breeding these marks from lions who also have them (and those lions are, again, either raffle lionesses or even girls, not applicated lions).
6.23.23 Girl with Cherry Undershine, a February Event Mark
4.29.22 with White Freckles 1 and 2, a April Event Mark
4.26.24 with Shell Frosty Roan, September Mark
Welp, I hope this helps someone! Definitely took a bit to write lol
MY Marking Desirability List, from most to least
Tier 4, Tier 2, Tier 5H, Tier 3-J/M/W, Tier 6, Tier 3E**,** Tier 5GE, Tier 3A Tier 1, and Tier 0.

Note
I also want to point out with the killa stuff- they have to use gifting items to send what they do. They know lioden has made it so you can’t message winners because of being flooded.
If the game has tried to stop you from messaging them and you find a loophole, you know you’re doing something you’re not supposed to be doing.
They might make themselves feel better saying it’s to help, but the fact is winners aren’t stupid. If they want to seek help the clans are easy to find. And if they did make the guide that would be easy to point winners to.
Also side note, it’s 100% okay to ask things like this. Please don’t feel bad or feel like you can’t ask anything, your question was completely reasonable

Lioden Vs. Wolvden Comparison: Breeding Pt 1 - Fertility and Broodmothers/Pupsitting
Breeding is a very complex mechanic in both games, so I’m splitting it into multiple parts. This first part will be two features: Fertility and assigning help to take care of cubs/pups.
Lioden
Fertility
Fertility is a percentage that shows how likely it is that a lioness will be impregnated on any particular studding attempt. Naturally, you’d think you want it high, but it’s balanced out by the fact that the lower the fertility, the more likely the lioness is to have a cub with a mutation (this doesn’t affect inheritable mutations).
Lioness fertility can be temporarily raised and lowered through use of items found at the Fertility Snake, and can be permanently raised and lowered using event items or an Oasis item.
Fertility also decays by 5% each year starting at age 8, unless it reaches 1% in which case it stays there. (Personally, I was never a fan of this feature, since it helps only mutie breeders and harms my playstyle - I keep the same lineages of lionesses, breeding as old as possible, and fertility is inherited so the cubs’ fertilities just get lower and lower. At this point I just use as many Chasteberries as the game lets me every time I breed. Which are more expensive than Tackweed, by the way. Okay, rant over.)
Unless you reveal the exact fertility percentage, the range is represented by a descriptor:
Goddess 100% High 90 to 99% Good 80 to 89% Average 70 to 79% Low 51 to 69% Very Low 1 to 50% Infertile 0%
Which is a lot more helpful for breeders of good fertility than low fertility due to the huge range of Very Low.
Broodmothers
Once you’ve successfully gotten your lioness pregnant and she’s given birth, someone needs to take care of the cubs!
Cubs without a Broodmother have a chance of wandering off and getting hurt every rollover. They have a Survival Bar that indicates how likely they are to survive. Every rollover, the bar ticks down by 5-20% at random, and once it reaches 40% or below, every rollover it has a chance to die.
You can regain Cub Survival by playing with your cubs, both with items (once they’re weaned, or before that if their personality clashes with the king’s and their mood goes down) and on their page with the Play/Tussle/Groom option. In effect, this makes it uncommon at most for any cub to die if you care for it every day.
You can also skip the risk entirely by giving your cubs to a Broodmother. Broodmothers can take care of up to 5 cubs (6 if the Broodmother is the Nurturing personality), and all of the cubs will be fully taken care of. You can have one broodmother per 10 territory, rounded up.
Wolvden
Fertility
Fertility on Wolvden is nearly identical to how it works on Lioden, aside from two things:
1. The descriptors indicate different percentages. On Wolvden, they mean the following:
Extremely High 100% High 91 to 99% Very Good 71 to 90% Good 51 to 70% Average 31 to 50% Low 11 to 30% Very Low 2 to 10% Extremely Low 1% Infertile 0%
There’s two more descriptors (Very Good and Extremely Low, with Extremely High replacing Goddess) and it’s a lot more descriptive for low fertilities, even having a unique descriptor for 1%. That will be very useful for mutie breeders, and my at-least-50% self just has to remember that Good is the lowest I want.
2. I’m not sure whether fertility decay happens on Wolvden. Our frequent account wipes meant our wolves never got all that old, and I don’t know if anyone cared to look at Fertility to see if it went down. It might still be there, but it might not. The Beta tester-created guide doesn’t mention it.
Pupsitters
Pups are in far more danger than cubs are. If their survival bar is not 100%, they may die on rollover, whether it’s 99% or 1%. They can also get injured on rollover if you’re luckier, losing HP.
Without a pupsitter, the only way to raise your pups’ survival bars is to take care of the mother. If the mother has 100% mood and is 100% fed, all of her pups will gain 7% survival. If these bars are not full, her pups will LOSE 7-15% survival. Very relevant if your leader is a nursing mother, as the leader’s hunger will fluctuate when Exploring. If you want her pups to survive, make sure to feed her before rollover. Once they have weaned, it’s no longer the mother’s bars that matter, but the pup’s, so you’ll need to take care of each pup well for maximum survival chance.
The base survival depends on the Season they’re born in and whether the pup is a Runt Pup or a Largest Pup. Winter will make Survival start low and Spring will make Survival start high. Runt Pups will have lower Survival than their littermates and the opposite is true for Largest Pups.
To protect your pups, you can assign them a Pupsitter. Pupsitters can take care of up to 10 pups, using 10 energy to protect each. Their energy will not replenish unless they stop taking care of all pups.
But, unlike Broodmothers, this isn’t full protection. A Pupsitter with 0% proficiency will only be able to provide 60% protection total, split between the pups she’s protecting. As they gain proficiency by actively Pupsitting, the Pupsitter will get more protection to share.
You can have as many Pupsitters as you want in your pack, letting each puppy have its own Pupsitter if you so desire.
My thoughts
For Fertility, Wolvden’s descriptors are 100% better than Lioden’s as they’re more helpful. And if Wolvden lacks Fertility decay (which it might not), I’m all for that, too, since I never liked Fertility decay in the first place.
For Broodmothers/Pupsitters, this is another case of Wolvden being a more mature and difficult game than Lioden. For my playstyle, Wolvden’s system suits me. I keep all my lions and wolves full-fed and played with at all times anyway, and I like that being rewarded. I don’t get too attached to many cubs or pups due to my own personal RNG cub mortality anyway, so pups dying via game isn’t that shocking to me.
Thus I do like Wolvden’s better. Lioden’s is far less punishing, though.

since the #1 complaint i see about lioden is “breeding system confusing” would anyone be interested if i tried to write a simplified guide for it? since ld is still my fav pet site it hurts to see people disregard it cuz it has a complex breeding system but its not too difficult to understand when broken down, it just has a lot of moving parts and takes some reading to get used to, but i think i could simplify it in a way that makes sense for those of you who just want to put together pretty lions and make good babies and not worry about breeding for specific odds or goals and stuff. ive been rolling it around in my mind for a while cuz every once in a while i still see “lioden bad” posts and i just wish i could like. foster some fr/ld solidarity

LIODEN TIP
when breeding lions this is my guide to match studs with the lioness
DOSE NOT APPLY TO COMBO BREEDING
-
Color group - stays the same
Solid or countershaded don’t mix. Just don’t.
Preferably stay in the same shade, but if you don’t want to:
Medium - medium, light , dark
Light - light, medium
Dark - medium, dark
Always breed to a special based stud for best results.
