Best Beaches Near Muskegon
Need some Vitamin Sea? Head to one of these Michigan beaches near Muskegon to really relax for the weekend.
Laketown Beach
youtube
Location:  6710 142nd Ave Holland, MI 49423
Great for: Solitude (away from the crowd)
Located in Holland, the Laketown Beach is the least crowded in the area. The beach is great if you are looking for some quality time with your family or that special someone. You can choose whether you want to take the stairs down or walk towards the sandy bath. If you choose the stairs to be sure you are not wearing any fancy shoes, it can take an extra pound off from your body. Most people are afraid to use the stairs, but if you need that workout, try it for a change. But don’t let that discourage you from going into this off the beaten path beach location. The area peaceful, in certain days you can even have the beach all to yourselves. It’s quiet, peaceful, and a small beach with free parking. Don’t forget to bring some food and drinks to keep you hydrated.
  Millennium Park
youtube
Location: 1415 Maynard Ave SW Walker, MI 49534
Great for:  Families with small kids and recreational water sports like kayaking, boating, and biking. Don’t forget to bring your dogs.
This is a great beach that everyone in the family would love. They offer activities that kids of all ages will surely enjoy. You can go biking along the trails or go for a relaxing walk around the ponds. The trail in Millennium Park leads to another nearby park and will connect you to downtown. Your dogs will love the trails just don’t forget to pick up after them. Another bonus point in this beach is the water fountains which are placed strategically around the beach. They also have clean restrooms that smell really nice. As for recreational water sports, they designated a special area where you can rent kayaks, paddle boats, and stand up paddle boards. Everything is reasonably priced, plus you can get an amazing view of the entire beach. But do watch out for seagulls, although they are far away from the beach area.  Kids will definitely have a blast in their water play area as well as the playground. They might not want to leave the vicinity after a trip to this wonderful beach.
  Kirk Park
youtube
Location:  9791 N Lakeshore Dr. West Olive, MI 49460
Great for: Dogs and pet lovers
This 25-mile walk beach is a dog haven for animal lovers. They even have poop bag dispensers around the beach to remind you to pick up after your dogs.  It a clean beach but you may need to go 44 steps to reach it. Great work out though. It’s a small stretch of beach but well secluded and you will never lose sight of your dogs. The sand pretty much lay flat into the water, dogs love running around its shore and you will not worry that they might go in too deep into the lake. Let your dog mingle with other dogs and let them socialize. There’s a lot of room for them to run around the beach, not many beaches will allow your dog off the leash. Parking your car may seem like a work out for you since you need to take a hike retrieving it, but not for your dogs. s
  Pere Marquette Park
youtube
Location: Beach Street Rd Muskegon, MI
Great for:  To take a dip in the lake. Families with small children and to socialize.
There is a lot of space in this sandy beach ideal to play volleyballs and socialize with other beach bums. Your kids will love the playground if they need to get off from the water for some time. If you are busy to prepare food or it’s an impromptu trip, don’t worry, there is a concession stand on the beach. They have a nice selection of foods that are reasonably priced. If you need to munch on a full meal, there are several restaurants near the beach. For a change, you can walk in several parks around the beach. Just like in any other city in the region, the beach can go pretty much colder compared to its southern counterpart. There a lighthouse nearby, this breaks the usual beach scenery. It can also get a little bit windy during the day so bring your windbreaker is you must. Pere Marquette Park offers lots of free parking space for the beach goers.
  Grand Haven State Park
youtube
Location: 1001 S Harbor Dr. Grand Haven, MI 49417
Great for: Sightseeing, nature lovers, and a weekend getaway for families.
The Grand Haven State Park is one of the great beaches in Michigan. It’s a beautiful lake, the sandy beaches are clean and they even have wash off sand stations. You may need to arrive early, even though the park has a huge parking lot, you may not easily find one. It’s a popular destination so expect the beach to get really packed especially during the weekends. Grand Haven is also known for its accessibility, they have walkways heading down the beach, so you don’t need to carry heavy loads all the way through the sands. Even if you don’t bring that much food, there are food trucks in the beach that are reasonably priced. The beach also has a campground on site which is nice for the nature lovers; it adds another flair to the usual beach getaway.  Another tourist destination in the beach is to walk to the lighthouse. Also, during spring season expect to catch some waves to show off those surfing skills.

Maple Syrup season is upon us already and there are dozen of places to go check out how its made! Maple Syrup is said to be worth its weight in gold because it takes about 40 galloon oof sap to make one gallon of syrup.
Theres still plenty of snow atop most of the slopes across Michigan and if the weather permits yo can even ski in just a cozy sweatshirt. Ski season can reach all the way into April if the nights stay cold!
With plenty of indoor water parks in Michigan you can experience the Tropical feel with out waiting in line at a large park! Not to mention those wave makers are a blast!
Baseball season is a huge part of spring and checking out the spring training camps can be just as exciting as the real deal. Some local teams are even starting some of their pre-season games. Nothing says spring like peanuts and cracker jacks and playing ball.
No matter what you choose to do Michigan is the most beautiful place to stay and to play. Get out, be active, and enjoy this beautiful country.

Hosting Spring Cookouts And Making It Look Easy With Planning [Guest Post]
It is Spring (Yeah!!), and the weather is perfect for cookouts and get-togethers. The warming weather gets us out of the house more often, making us go out more and meeting new friends. The kids are also growing, and so is their own list of friends. How do you keep tabs of everything when it is your turn to host spring parties?
Organization is the cornerstone of success. When you can put all your thoughts, ideas, wishes and needs all in one same place, what comes out of it is a perfect map that you can follow to achieve your plans.
Products (and my favorite planner, ever)
The START products come in 4 lines, which are Fancy Pants, Hustle, Legit, and Recently Hitched (which is a complete wedding planner). I personally love the Fancy Pants solid color design, which comes with perfect organization templates that allow you to take full control of the size of the binder. Speaking of size, this planner has a perfect cut, which fits anywhere you take it. It is perfect for travelers, teachers, business people, and busy moms just like me.
Mom-friendly features
My absolutely favorite features include: 1. sticker packs- The “Social Butterfly” sticker pack features icons that go with the party planning theme, friends names, contact information, birthday icons, gift giving, dates, and much more. The other sticker pack is the “Nitty Gritty” which is more for specific tasks, such as cleaning reminders, medicine taking, emails, contact information and more. I use both and my planner looks like a rainbow. It is so useful, though. Visual reminders are everything. 2. “Legit” Snap-In bookmarks- These awesome bookmarks have enough space to write impromptu lists of names, items, phone numbers, or anything you can think of. 3. The Bling Line- This is an add-on collection of notebooks, pens, and other writing products that come with full color and shiny paper. I love them because I can scribble away party ideas, shopping lists, and design plans. They are very attractive to look at and it is a joy to carry them around.
My secret weapon
Out of all the START products I own, the one that works best for me is the “Master Plan” paper pack. This is a list-making organizer for step-by-step planning. This is great for you to have your road to successful party planning right at your fingertips. There is also a paper pack titled Delegate” which is something we moms fail to do all the time, as we want to do everything ourselves. This is meant to be a list maker of human resources, also known as “people who may be able to help out”, that I can keep to remind myself that I do have support around me, to whom I can turn for assistance.
Why get an organizer?
If you are as busy as I am with everyday issues, the idea of getting people together for sharing may seem daunting, even problematic for your schedule. However, without these times to share, life would turn into a very lonely and stressful daily event. You need to make the room and take the time for activities such as cookouts, parties, and get-togethers. START products work as your “first-mate” support to keep all ideas and information together. All you need to do is follow the “roadmap” that a good organizer provides. START will do the thinking for you, all you need to do is fill in the blanks and let the organizer guide you.

You Need To Check Out These Restaurants In Lansing Michigan [Local Friday Features]
Welcome to Lansing. The Capital of Michigan. Lansing is a thriving town, with places and restaurants its people are proud to brag about. It is home to the Michigan State Spartans. And if I’m honest, I kind of like the MSU logo. Don’t tell my family.
If you plan to visit Lansing of these days, here are four of Lansing’s most visited restaurants with food to die for because of their unique flavor and atmosphere.
The Most Visited Restaurants In Lansing Michigan
  Golden Harvest Restaurant
Courtesty Golden Harvest’s Facebook Page
This restaurant has people waiting in long lines. Food is delicious, and they serve in generous portions that you can’t help but share.
Golden Harvest is not your usual restaurant. No, you are not going to get in a classy restaurant with classic music. It doesn’t look so inviting on the outside unless you’re curious enough to fall in line. The restaurant owner boasts about nothing but the food they serve and the people who go there agree.
The place has an odd and eclectic design which adds to the overall atmosphere they are trying to create. They have loud and funky music and excellent and energetic ambiance.
You might not want to come here alone, though. But if you feel like going out and being adventurous for one day, you can stop by, fall in line by 7 am and talk with strangers for an hour while waiting.
Since waiting in line is going to be long, if you are in your usual morning rush, then this isn’t the place to go. But it has more than 200 reviews on Trip Advisor and has a certificate of excellence label, and its food is definitely off the charts.
But just to set expectations right, waiting for the food you ordered may also take up to one hour. On a lighter note, it means you have an opportunity to talk and bond with friends and family.
The music is loud, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a good conversation. However, it is not an ideal place for business-related conversations. But it provides you with an experience you can’t miss when in Lansing.
They have different sets of menu each week and has different specials for each day.
The place closes early at two o’clock in the afternoon, but since the line is long, you can expect them to cut at 12:30 pm, especially when there’s just too many for them to cater. Bring coffee or water to drink while waiting, wear something weather appropriate and most importantly, bring cash because they don’t accept anything else.
  Soup Spoon Cafe Restaurant
Courtesy Soup Spoon’s Facebook Page
This restaurant boasts of its artisan food which looks as perfect and mystifying as Picasso’s paintings.
Just like any other Lansing fave, this restaurant also has people waiting in line for them during lunch and dinner rush hours. It is rated number one in TripAdvisor, with over 400 reviews. As the name itself suggests, they serve great soups and have different menus for each meal.
Remember, their menu for lunch isn’t going to be available for dinner so expect not to see your favorites if you visit on a different hour. They apply a particular technique or style for every meal, and that makes the restaurant stand out.
The place is our typical restaurant, doesn’t look so classic and you can call for a reservation in case you don’t want to wait during rush hours. They have friendly service, which is common in every review and their bartenders are ready to entertain your questions.
Most importantly, they serve locally sourced food, and that means the ingredients are fresh. They have a vegan menu for vegan customers. And it is surely a great place for night outs.
They have a small space, but it is not full all the time.
  Zaytoon Mediterranean Grill Restaurant
via Zaytoons Facebook Page
Zaytoon is not the only restaurant in Lansing that serves Mediterranean dishes, but when you mean Mediterranean plus Lansing, then this is the place to go.
They won’t be number 4 in Trip Advisor for no reason, and they have the right to boast about it. Zaytoon has more than three hundred reviews, a certificate of excellence and a great crowd of loyal customers.
There are three things that you will love about Zaytoon. First their pleasant, friendly and efficient staff. Customer service is something they are expert with and that is what makes them stand out over any other restaurant in Lansing.
Second is their fantastic food and their fast service. Zaytoon has hearty servings that you can share. They have vegan options, and they serve one of the best Hummus there is in town.
Lastly, is the incredible price, clean area, and sophisticated decor and atmosphere. You will get the value you expect for your money, and they keep the place clean and shiny. Zaytoon also has this sophisticated modern design that is something you’d want for your house.
The only caveat though is their cafeteria style of service. You will have to fall in line, order, pay for your food, and bring it to your table. Nonetheless, you can still get a seat and table right away.
Lansing Brewing Company
Courtesy Lansing Brewing Facebook Page
If you are looking for great craft beer, then this is the one thing you should look for on the list. If you follow our blog, you will notice that Lansing Brewing Company appeared on our list of The 5 Best Lansing Breweries. So yeah, we like it!
LBC offers a variety of great-tasting beer. Angry Mayor is their best seller with hops that make it top of the line.
They have a great menu, large portions of servings, with quality ingredients and beautiful plating. If you are looking for meat, divine meat, and more meat, they have it.
They serve the food hot, and the Cuban sandwich is something you can look forward to when you go there for a meal.
They are at the heart of the ballpark areas, a central location, accessible to anyone after games. Because of that, they have a spacious parking area.
The place is something that makes it stand out. The place has a somewhat industrial feel, but it has a spacious seating with a laid back outdoor setting, a fireplace, and most importantly their corn hole for games. It is perfect for groups, and they have a great space for parties.
The corn hole is an answer to boredom while waiting for a ready table. But LBC also has a live music stage band you can dance to and sing along with while drinking your beer. Just don’t expect the place to be excellent for business-related meetups because it can get pretty loud in there.
They have a kids menu, and the kids’ noise isn’t going to embarrass you because LBC’s noise is going to drown theirs. They have giant TV screens all over the place so you can watch games while eating.
LBC is a great place with fantastic drinks (beer, wine, and spirits) and fabulous food.
Lansing is a product of constant efforts by its people and government. It offers great places, food, culture, and an enjoyable environment. The restaurants above are only just a few of the much incredible it has. It is too bad that Lansing doesn’t have a better sports team to root for….

Just kidding! Or am I?

Fantastic Facts about Detroit Few People Know About
Along with Detroit having some great breweries around town, there’s a lot that the city has hiding. But finding those things isn’t hard if you know where to look and have a real interest in the city’s history.
“Speramus Meliora; Resurget Cineribus”
No, it’s not a spell from a Harry Potter book, but that is the official Detroit motto in Latin. In English, it translates to “We hope for better things; it shall rise from the ashes.” Beautiful isn’t it? But what is even greater than their motto is their colorful and revolutionary past. Detroit started some of the most important innovations in the country.
The creation of a Private Number
The invention of the telephone in the 1800s is also the invention of telephone numbers but the same goes with party lines. Because numbers are just that, general numbers for those who own a telephone at that time. In the past, a call needs to go through an operator before reaching to a specific person. A party line or a third party is very much common during the old days. But Detroit helped to change all that, they are the first city to assign a specific phone number of an individual. They cut out the unnecessary party line.
The first concrete highway is in Detroit
Detroit has a long reputation for automobiles and even in transportation innovation. Named as the Motor City of the US, Detroit is the home of the first four-way-three color traffic light and the first mile of concrete highway. The highway is the first urban freeway in the world. In 1909, the Wayne County Road Commission built the country’s first mile of concrete highway in Detroit. The road expands at Woodward Avenue between the 6 and 7-mile roads in the city. Detroit also houses the first traffic tunnel between Canada and the US, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.
Also, the Ambassador Bridge is located in Detroit, the busiest single border of the two countries. Another fascinating fact about Detroit is the location. Some Canadians need to drive north to go to the US, the only major city in the US that is located north of Canada.
  Detroit really loves liquors
A Detroit pharmacist named James Vernor created a new drink; he was then called to serve during the Civil War in 1862. He stored his new liquor invention in an oak cask and when he came back after his service, he found out that the keg transformed the drink. The drink was later named as Vernors Ginger Ale. During the Prohibition, an estimated 75% of illegal liquor was smuggled using the waterways of Detroit to supply the country’s need for the intoxicating drinks.
The city sits on a large salt mine
Detroit boasts of at least 1,400 acres of salt mines right under the city. The salt mine is older than the automotive industry in Detroit. In fact, it is older than the dinosaurs. Salt deposits were created about 400 million years ago during the Devonian Period; a time where the fish were started to grow legs to migrate onto land. Ancient oceans that were evaporating during those times created the massive deposits of salt in Detroit. The Detroit Salt Company mines more than 100 miles of road for salt. The impressive sight of salt can be found at 1281 Sanders Street.
youtube
  AKA Potato Chip Capital
Another lesser known fact about the city is that Detroiters consume on average at least 7 pounds of chips a year. The other citizens of the country consume only around 4 pounds of potato chips every year. Either way, that’s a lot of potatoes.
The city has its own Floating Post Office
The city of Detroit has its very own Floating Post Office, the only of its kind in the world. In the past, the J.W. Westcott II acts as a plain maritime reporting agency that roams the Detroit River. The Floating Post Office used to informed cargo vessels regarding the weather conditions and other situation in port. In 1948, the vessel eventually became the world’s first ever floating post office. It also gained its very own zip code, 48222. Now if only someone would send us a letter… but that’s another story altogether.
youtube
  A colossal theater district
Good news for Detroiters, they don’t need to travel all the way to the Big Apple just to see amazing live theater performances. The theater district of Detroit ranks as the second largest in the country. It falls only second after New York City. The colossal theater district expands an area for two city blocks with a massive 13,000 seats. That’s a cultural achievement that hard to beat. Famous musicians even call Detroit their very home. Who exactly? Well, Madonna, Kid Rock, Aaliyah, Eminem and Aretha Franklin call Detroit their home, just to name a few.
  Shaping the Wild West
Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac called the city from a French word “Detroit” which means “the strait”. It refers to the flow of the river, a strait between Canada and the US. Detroit is the oldest city in the west that was part of the thirteen colonies on the Mississippi. Founded on July 24, 1701, Detroit helped shaped the foundation of the Midwest that greatly influenced the future of the other nearby states.  The city even reuses the old fort making it the main building for the Detroit Free Press and News.
  Commemorating the Point of Origin
Just like any other city, Detroit still commemorates its point of origin. It’s a place where all measurements start. The Seven Mile Road and Eight Mile Road got their names because they are seven and eight miles from Campus Martius Park. The city point of origin is near the Fountain Bistro at Woodward and Monroe. A plaque is there to mark Detroit’s first days on the map.

Grand Haven – Music. Lights. Water. Magic!
The Grand Haven Musical Fountain is a synchronized water and light show accompanied with music of all varieties. Each 20-minute show features a different theme. A different show plays daily at dusk from Memorial Day through Labor Day as well as Fridays and Saturdays in May and September.
Built in 1962, it is the world’s largest musical fountain of it’s kind and was the world’s largest fountain until The Fountains of Bellagio opened at the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas. The show takes place atop Dewey Hill and is best viewed from Waterfront Stadium. However, the Grand Haven Musical Fountain can be easily experienced from most of the Grand Haven Boardwalk. As long as you can see Dewey Hill, you’ll be able to see and hear the show. The audio is also broadcast on 88.7 FM for those who prefer to watch from a vehicle.
youtube
All starting times have been determined by selecting the very best time for viewing based upon darkness behind Dewey Hill.
A variety of titles and themes are presented each running evening for a 20-30 minute presentation.  Waterfront events may alter the fountain schedule.
Guiding ships and attracting visitors for over a century
Established in 1839, two lights on the south pier, both painted red, are connected by a lighted catwalk that also connects them to the shore and the Grand Haven Boardwalk. The inner light is cylindrical, and the foghouse outer light stands on a huge concrete foundation. People often enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk that borders the Grand River channel and the pier, making the Grand Haven lighthouses one of the most photographed lighthouses in the Midwest. The Grand Haven pier is also a popular spot for fishing and catching the sunset.
Currently the south pier which the lighthouses are located is currently closed for resurfacing and is not accessible. You can still access the boardwalk and view the lighthouses from the Grand Haven State Park. Another way to see the lighthouses, is from the north pier which is accessible via North Shore Drive in Ferrysburg. There is a public parking lot located on the north side of the river channel.
youtube
Tour the town on the trolley
Each summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day historic trolley rides are available to residents and visitors alike. The service runs seven days a week from 11am to 10pm with pickup locations at Chinook Pier, Boardwalk, the State Park, The Bookman and Pfaff Pharmacy.
Enjoy a historic narrative tour that starts at Chinook Pier, travels the waterfront and downtown areas and provides a unique trip back in time as you learn more about what  makes Grand Haven such a special part of Michigan.

    Local Food & Markets
The Grand Haven Area enjoys an abundance of family-owned farms, rolling fields, and orchards, providing a bountiful harvest for area farm markets and U-picks. Enjoy traveling the Northwest Ottawa County region to buy a bushel of freshness from the back of a farmer’s truck or gather your own at a U-pick farm or orchard.
Visit the many farmer’s markets in the area to peruse the plants, sample homemade delicacies and select a basketful of locally grown produce! With numerous markets in town, you could easily make a whole day out of browsing produce and clothes made in Michigan. Some of the better farmer’s markets in and around Grand Haven include:
CROSSROADS BLUEBERRY MARKET
Winkel Chestnut Farm
DeLass Garden Market
Cook’s Strawberries
Grand Haven Farmer’s Market
Saturdays in May from 8am – 1pm
Wednesdays & Saturdays June – October 8am – 1pm
The market is bursting with fresh produce, flowers, plants, breads, baked goods, and much more!
Grandson’s Gardens
  West Michigan’s All-Volunteer Historic Railroad
youtube
The Coopersville & Marne Railway, with its antique passenger cars dating to the early part of the last century, goes out into the countryside and through family-owned farmlands. You will cross over an open-deck girder bridge, four creeks and one road bridge before you arrive at the Village of Marne. The 1950s-era diesel locomotive then uncouples from the train, runs along a passing siding next to your passenger car, couples onto the west end of the train and pulls the train back to the City of Coopersville.
This 14-mile excursion, back to a simpler time of transportation, lasts about an hour and 15 minutes. During the trip, the conductor describes points of interest while train music from the 1800s plays throughout the cars. Wildlife such as deer, wild turkeys, hawks and eagles may be seen along the way, as well as farm animals. Our track also runs, for a short distance, along the I-96 freeway, where Mustangs, Jaguars and Cougars may also be seen. When in Marne, if weather permits, passengers on Regular Excursions may detrain to watch the runaround and west end coupling. Sorry, we cannot detrain on Theme Trains. We depart every Wednesday and Saturday, May through October (Saturdays only April, November and December) from the station platform in historic downtown Coopersville, at 11am and 1:30pm. On some Theme Trains, a 3pm departure is added.

The Best Ski Resorts in Michigan
Even though summer is just around the corner and the snowy season is probably the last thing on your mind, you might want to consider planning ahead to avoid the winter rush (and price hikes) that hits when everyone starts shopping for winter vacations at the same time. And although some people might not consider Michigan a hotspot for skiing, there are a handful of resorts that offer great winter getaways without forcing you to leave the state.
In fact, Michigan ranks second only after New York when it comes to ski areas. Currently, we have 49 ski areas, 50 terrain parks, 269 lifts and almost 1,000 runs. Michigan also houses the only hill for ski flying in the country!  Sky flying is more like ski jumping on a larger platform. What really sets Michigan apart from other states’ winter vacation offerings is the accessibility and cost available here.  Even better is that no matter where you might be in Michigan, you’re probably not more than two hours away from an excellent skiing experience.
That all being said, the following are some of the best ski resorts in Michigan.
  Ski Brule
Ski Brule is usually the first ski resort to open in Michigan – they open their slopes as early as October and their ski season lasts for about six months. It is also the top choice in the Midwest as one of the best ski resorts. The location is the key to its popularity; it’s near the border of Wisconsin and there is a enormous and reliable snowfall in the area. In about 24 hours of snowing, the slopes in Brule can generate enough snow for you to head out on your skis. The resort has three terrain parks and the ever famous tubing park. They also offer fat bike trails, cross country, sleigh rides and acrobag. Kids of all ages will have a great time here and the resort also stays open for night skiers.
youtube
  Big Snow Resort
As defined by its name, Big Snow Resort has a massive snowfall to fill its slopes. The ski resort receives no less than 17 feet of snow on an average each year. It’s more than enough to cover the two mountains in the area, the Blackjack, and the Indianhead. Skiers of all levels can choose different terrain parks from beginners to intermediate even those who consider themselves as experts. For beginners and intermediate, Blackjack can offer a lot of them which also open for night skiing. This side of the mountain offer tubing and yeti snow where you can climb and slide until the snow melts.  On the other hand, the Indianhead caters for the expert skiers which feature 270 acres of snow filled slopes.  Another great thing about the Big Snow is that they offer different events aside from skiing. They host various artists to perform live music every weekend.
youtube
  Crystal Mountain
Placed as one of the best family ski resorts in Canada and in the US, Crystal Mountain can contend to other well-known ski resorts. Crystal Mountain has 58 trails, which 27 of those are designated for night skiing that is well lit. They also have other four terrain areas and four glade areas.  This ski resort offers luxurious facilities and amenities. They offer top notched cottages and the base of the mountain, campfires, family play area for the kids and an indoor pool. If you want a break from the skiing, they also offer activities such as snowcat biking, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Or you can just relax in their 18,500 square foot certified spa that is illuminated with LEED.
youtube
  Shanty Creek Resorts
Families with smaller children opt to stay at Shanty Creek Resorts.  Beginners and level two skiers can easily navigate its slopes since 60% of the runs are made just for them. However, they still have advanced terrain for intermediate and expert skiers. The resort offers five terrain parks, which activities such as tubing and fat tire biking. Shanty Creek Resorts also has a reputation as one of the best ski resort in the Midwest.
youtube
  Mount Bohemia
Located in the northern part of Michigan, Mount Bohemia has the longest vertical in the Midwest measuring up to 900 feet.  On an average year, Mount Bohemia receives more than 273 inches of snow because of the immense lake effect snow. It’s a top destination for expert skiers who do not mind rough trails and backcountry scenery. Chutes and a cliff drop mark some of the forested trails. The ski resort hostel contains 24 coed different rooms, an outdoor hot tub, and a sauna. All of the rooms are within the sloped sides so visitors can still get a glimpse of the beautiful mountain peak.
youtube
  Pine Mountain
Another great ski resort tucked away in the northern part of Michigan, Pine Mountain has the reputation to house the best ski jump in the world. The United States still holds the record for the highest ski jump measuring up to 459 feet happened in the very slope of this mountain. More than 20,000 people gathered to see the spectacular event during the Jump Weekend event. The event which Kiwanis Ski Club host happens every February invites all top jumpers, where they set world records within the past years.  Pine Mountain boasts of 27 trails, a terrain park and slopes designated for night skiing.
youtube
  Nub’s Nob
Beginner skiers flock the Nub’s Nob to practice their skills on one of its easy trails. The ski resorts labeled 30% of their trails as easiest while designating the other 50% for the intermediate skiers. This means Nub’s Nob only has designated a small area for the expert. However, they do have a 427-foot vertical drop which the intermediate skiers can tackle on their own. Another great thing about the resort is that they offer a free beginner area complete with a chairlift. This weighs in your ability whether you want more of the amazing adventure before going to its slopes.
youtube
  Boyne Resorts
Last but definitely not the least, the Boyne Resorts, hailed as the most famous ski resort in Michigan. The ski resorts houses two mountains, the Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountains. Both are considered the largest ski resorts in the southern part of Michigan. Each mountain contains 400 acres of land with no less than 115 trails. It includes various mile-long runs similar to its counterparts in the West. Boyne Resorts also includes the country’s first ever high-speed six-place chairlift along with the first four-place chairlift in Michigan. For skiers who like speeds, the downhill 70-kilometers cross-country serves a perfect place to master those skills. The resorts even placed a free beginner and snowboard areas, so first timers will not get left behind.  The SnowSports Academy is also located within the resort that earns great compliments from visitors.

Awesome Places to Visit When in Ann Arbor
Law Quadrangle
Take a step into history and visit Law Quadrangle. This law school at Michigan University is symbolic of the region’s academic excellence and is definitely worth your time for a visit and a walk through its grounds. You can take a leisurely stroll then head inside and marvel at the magnificent high ceilings. Wander through some of the small study enclaves and get a feel of what college looked like before decades of modern advancement. It might be a short tour, but if you walk into the new area of the law library you can see how they ingeniously transitioned the antique design to a modern interior.
youtube
University of Michigan Museum of Art
A trip is not complete without stepping into some of the museums in the area. As the saying goes “Art enables us to find ourselves & lose ourselves at the same time”, but don’t get lost inside the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Once you step into its doors you will immediately recognize the caliber of the place. You’ll be amazed at its collection and variety of style. Your family can enjoy a good walk around the vicinity while the kids are making friends with the animals. Probably the best time to visit the farm is during the spring season when some of the baby animals are being born.

  Nichols Arboretum
After bustling city sounds, you might want to relax in Nichols Arboretum. It’s a tranquil spot for people who just want to wind down. Spring is the best time to come here as the flowers bloom as the air is perfect for a leisure stroll down the road. The area will even give dramatic colors during the autumn season, which great for photo shoots. If you need a breather and want nature to refuel your energy then this place is perfect for you.

  Literati Bookstore
I am a book lover myself, and whenever I find a bookstore, I always drop by and check what’s available. Literati Bookstore stands out from the rest of the bookstores here in Ann Arbor. It’s not too crowded and it has a perfect downtown location. What I love most about this is they have long hours. If you get too immersed in your book you can sit in a coffee shop upstairs. Considering the space available, they have a wonderful selection with the best fiction and nonfiction books to choose from. It truly is a gem for book lovers with their amazing finds. The shop is also particularly clean and they can help you find a perfect gift.

Whether in Ann Arbor for a weekend getaway or looking for things to do near Detroit, you’re sure to have a great time in this wonderfully peaceful town when wearing our great Michigan gear!

7 Activities for Kids Within a Quick Drive from Adrian, MI
Adrian is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Lenawee County. The population was 21,133 at the 2010 census. Adrian lies in Michigan’s 7th congressional district.
The Centre
youtube
Location: 1800 W US Highway 223, Adrian, MI Great for: Kids and Young at hearts
This is a one-stop place if you have kids of different ages. They have water activities and outdoor attractions from toddlers to teenagers. They have this “Corner Park” kids will love, the outdoor splash pad, where they play on the bouncy mats and have a go in their zip lines. You don’t even have to worry about their safety, as all of their facilities are well maintained and clean. The adults can relax beside the outdoor pool on cozy lounge chairs. You don’t have to worry about bringing in foods because they have a concession bar that are reasonably priced. Despite their size, they offer great snacks and meals for kids and adults alike.
3&UP Game Lounge
youtube
Location: 630 S Main St Plymouth, MI Great for: Kids Activities, Recreation Center, Events and to Sharpen those ‘witty’ minds
3&Up Game Lounge is a break from the ordinary, the concept and ingenuity at its finest. They take those old school ideas which everyone loves, put it in a same where every can go and try thousands (seriously thousands) of board games. It’s great not just for kids but for you to have some good times with your teenagers. The game lounge closes late at night for groups who wants to settle a score on particular board games. Their staff are all accommodating and know almost all of the board games available. They can recommend several if you can’t pick what you like. It’s like going to a museum of games, it’s awesome. There are several games that I used to play and forgotten about until I saw it from one of the shelves. Even if you can buy snacks from the lounge, you can also bring your food. How much more convenient can that be?
Jump Station
youtube
Location: 31514 Grand River Ave Farmington, MI Great for: Kids Activities and Playground for toddlers
This one is great to let your kids put off some of their adrenaline rushes. It’s a harness jumping style where they can also hone in on their motor skills. What makes this place unique is that the owners are super friendly to the kids and what’s nice is that they also have packages for the kids to get free jumps. It’s a game ride where you can see how high your kids can go on a trampoline. You can see some of the kid’s faces lit up with a smile or a smirk whenever they do flips or a somersault.
Dudez & Dolls
youtube
Location: 433 W Dussel Dr. Maumee, OH Great for: Kids Activities, Events (Planning and Services) and spa services (for those little ones who wants to be pampered just like Mom)
I am not actually a fan of spa services, but this one stands out. They cater for those girls who want to be pampered at a salon but just too young and too soon to go to a salon. Drop by this place to see how it works. I actually had fun looking at the adults rather than the kids. Sure those 7-year-old girls seem like they are having the best of times. Who doesn’t like to be pampered and get dressed up? The salon staff are great to their guests. They treat all the girls super nice like in a real salon.
Kidopolis
youtube
Location: 509 State Cir Ann Arbor, MI Great for: Kids activities and Kids Parties (They are experts in Planning Events too!)
This place is made for birthdays and other big events. There are not many options in Ann Arbor for places like this. They can meet everything you need particularly for birthdays. You can choose from several rooms and a different room if your event calls for it. Another great thing about this place is they have several areas for toddlers to play with. For big events such as a 1st birthday or 7th birthday, you don’t have to  worry about the little things because they handle the rest. When you book, they close the whole place just for you. Everything is included as well from the napkins and other party preferences.
MJR Adrian Digital
youtube
Location: 3125 Birch Run, Adrian, MI Great for: Subtle (more like subdued) Kids Activities and family bonding
There is nothing like the old days when going out on a movie spells fun. Don’t get me wrong, it still is but with tech around, it loses some of its valor. I can appreciate having a big movie house like MJR in Adrian. It’s clean and well-kept all these years. You don’t need to drive all the way to Ann Arbor to see a movie. You might want to come during the afternoon where they usually have a kid pack promo. Kids can have drinks and gummy bears along with the usual popcorn. In good old days, they had free popcorn and a dollar movie for the kids. Now, that’s a bargain.
Many fun and exciting activities to do in or around Adrian, Michigan with your loved ones. Make it a family day every day by purchasing multiple matching sets of Michigan fashions for the whole family!!!

Things To Do In Ada Township
Planning a trip to Ada? Here is a list of things to do for everyone who is planning a trip to Ada Michigan.
Ada Township Covered Bridge
Great For: Taking Pictures a landmark
youtube
When in Ada, you have to visit Ada Township Covered Bridge. This goes a long way back in history and serves as a landmark in town. There are only a handful of bridges like this scattered across the country, and whenever you encountered some, it’s always worth a visit. The covered bridge has been rebuilt several times to preserve its presence in town. Also, it becomes a tourist attraction and it’s great for selfies!. The Ada Township Covered Bridge has a natural beauty and unique appeal that attracts people. Locals will tell you to grab some ice cream just a few blocks away from the bridge and just have a nice stroll down the bridge.  If you have a fantastic knack for photography the bridge serves as a great subject. The Thornapple River that flows below the bridge has great picnic spots.  Families with smaller kids usually go around the bridge for a leisurely afternoon walk.
  Seidman Park
Great for: Advance runners and hikers who want to train (Ironman or 21k all terrain race)
youtube
This is a great training ground for runners who want to train their legs on an all-terrain territory. The park has it all, elevation challenges, muddy areas, river bends, and rocky terrain. This course will surely fire up those muscles before the big race. The park is well marked and you may want to start in a paved section before hitting the ground, that will give your legs a good warm up.  Careful though, as many would hike along with you, bringing their dogs along with them.
But don’t worry they are required to put them on a leash. If you are not up to the challenge of running, a quick hike wouldn’t hurt. The park is lined with trees perfect for those hot summer day walks. Try to bring your pets along, as they can also use the fresh air. Don’t forget to bring bug spray as mosquitos can get a bit nosey in the marsh section.
  Cascade Peace Park
Great for: Beginners to intermediate runners and bikers in training
youtube
For those who just want a leisurely stroll in the woods or a beginner runner then you can try to a round or two in Cascade Peace Park. You will not get lost since they have good maps along the trail. You can park on Grand River and start your course there, or just walk a few minutes to relish the wooded areas. There are also several benches strategically placed for you to sit on whenever you feel tired or just be alone with nature.
Gravel Bottom Craft Brewery & Supply
Great for: Awesome local brewed beers
youtube
I always appreciate the uniqueness of a local brewed wine or beer. So whenever I visit places new areas I typically go for places like this. It is where you can literally distinguish their particular taste of brewery. A trip to a local tavern is always worth a visit. One downside though, they don’t serve food but you can order from other restos and have it delivered in the bar. They have board games to choose from and you can even play it for free while you enjoy a glass or two. But what really sets this apart, is they frequently rotate the taps and you can get a different kind of beer every time you visit here. The staff is very friendly and well informed about their brews so you know you are served with only the best.
Ada, MI is a great place to visit. If you want to take your love of the mitten state with you in your travels this summer, then consider rocking of our Michigan apparel!

A formal mental facility, the Grand Traverse Commons a distinct architectural landmark in TC. The castle-like buildings are now a great place to shop. You can walk in its antique sidewalks now filled with galleries, offices, and restaurants. What most people do not know is the sub layers beneath the shops. Also the amazing hiking in the hills that lie just above the commons. This is the perfect place to run, bike or just walk leisurely while enjoying the 480-acre forested campus.

To thrill your taste buds, Traverse City boasts amazing wineries scattered around the area. But the Chateau Grand Traverse stands out from the rest. Located on Old Mission Peninsula, the winery is famous for their first large-scale planting of Vitis vinifera in Michigan. Edward O’Keefe Jr. founded the Chateau Grand Traverse.
You can have a taste of their 1987 vintage Johannisberg Riesling ice wine that was served in George H.W. Bush inauguration.
     Slabtown

Slabtown is known for the preserved exterior homes from the Bohemian immigrants that came during the 19th century.  They came to Traverse City to work in the waterfront sawmills. This place has amazing burgers!

  The Hoyt Library
youtube
I am a book lover myself, so a trip in a local library is a must for me. The Hoyt Library has the most extensive genealogy in the region.  The librarians are always helpful if you need to look for a specific book or topic. It’s perfect for some quiet time, crouch beside their common area near the restored fireplace. The interior of the library is made with polished marble and beautiful wood works. It all adds up to the vibe of an old country house which can literally takes you back in time. Of course you can get into the hauntings like the video above shows.
  Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge
youtube
If you are into hiking, worry not, Saginaw has its own Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge. Wait… Saginaw has a wild life area? Yep, its true! This is far different from other hiking trails as this park lets nature take its own course. It a true wildlife area. As you walk through its trail you will be engulfed by Mother Nature herself. As you walk all you can hear and see is nature, pure nature; crickets, birds, peaceful sights and ground creatures unexpectedly show up. Sometimes you may run into bear tracks or bunny trails, it’s a true refuge for the wildlife.
Castle Museum
youtube
The Castle Museum has a style of a French Chateau and was initially built as a post office in 1897. Families and couples will definitely enjoy trip to the Castle Museum as they explore the old Saginaw. Sports fans will enjoy looking at old memorabilia in the museum sports hall of fame. Everyone else will find the lumbering and automotive historical display educational.
