Azusa calls Christine “Rose” mainly because of her scent of roses. But he has also said that the Red Rose in general reminds him of her.

Quotes is from a short Fanfic I wrote.

Caressing her cheek, he looks at her with so much love in his eyes.

He moves closer to her, runs his fingers through her hair, and strokes it. While caressing her arm with his other hand.

Azusa: “Your scent… is so good… and your skin… is so soft… like rose petals… you remind me of a beautiful red rose… The name suits you…”

Azusa likes to give roses to Christine as gifts, he also loves to place roses and other flowers on her hair. To him, she looks adorable. Later on in their story he also bought her a Red Rose hair clip. (The Red Rose in her hair that you see her wear in most of her arts, that's the clip he bought her) ☺️ Azusa also knows how to make Flower Crowns but he will only do those on special occasions.

Azusa and Christine both like going to the Garden a lot. They love taking walks together, holding hands, and enjoying the beautiful view of the different colors of the roses.

Roses are a huge symbol of their relationship.

The reason he doesn't call her “Eve” is because Yui Komori is in my story. She is the only true Eve. I did not want to replace Yui with Christine for the Eve Tittle. So I came up with another plan instead. Yui in this story her Diaboy choice is Ayato. (They are my favorite Ship) 🤭

Yui and Christine become good friends and you will see lots of interactions between them in the story.

So there is no reason for Azusa to call Christine “Eve” when she's not Eve.

Karlheinz has a different plan for Christine. He personally chose her. But I won't reveal that plan yet because it's a huge spoiler and a big character change. I'll probably reveal that plan in Maniac.

~ Past Relationship ~ ⚠️

Before Azusa, Christine had a 4-year relationship with a guy from her hometown. His name is Mark. He was her first love.

Their first two years together was fantastic, and she was madly in love with him. But in their third year together everything changed. Mark started to be cold, he became verbally abusive to her. It was so bad to the point she started to believe his words. Making her feel worthless. They had lots of heated bad arguments. One time out of anger he almost raped her. He didn't succeed because someone knocked on his apartment door.

They continued this terrible relationship.

Christine even though she was unhappy she still loved him and tried to make it work. But nothing was good enough for Mark and he still continued to treat her like garbage.

One day he told her that he had been seeing someone new for a while now and that he wanted to start a serious relationship with that woman. He ends the relationship with Christine.

The fact that he was cheating behind her back, that he ended it first and moved on with someone else like she was nothing.

That broke her.

The unexpectedly clingy one. Kei is probably the one person that you’ve expected least to be a clingy little puppy. His constant determination in his work really gave you that impression – but you only noticed it was the total opposite when you’d receive sweet ‘I miss you’s from him every second he’s away at work; and the ‘good morning’s paired with sweet motivational quotes; although you must admit how old-styled the quotes can be sometimes – but they didn’t fail to motivate and humor you.

A puppy who’s a big fan of physical affection. Every corner of your house, he will be stuck to you like gum, sharing body heat every single second of the day. “Keiiii, just give me one second I need to get that pan up there”, you’d whine. Instantly you felt your feet off the ground as he carried your feather-light body – “There baby~ better?” You couldn’t help but pout and proceeds with your work. There’s no way you can push this puppy off of you.

Loves being super intimate with you. Of course he knows you have a boundary and he totally respects that but that doesn’t stop him from being so touchy and clingy with you – basically goes hand in hand with the point above. You’d often find yourself in the bathtub or shower together with him and you’d just stand there, questioning yourself in the head like; ‘howwww did it escalated to here-‘

It’s easy to make him flustered and the entire process is so evident too especially on his expressive little cute face. “Wow! Hehe you look so cute in that scarf love!” – “hmm but I prefer your hands around my neck~” – ba’am he’s spinning and turning and rolling, practically blushing and dying from your smutty comment. His brain going complete short circuit while you stood there with an innocent little smile.

But the flustered state won’t last long because he’ll always have a better comeback to throw you off even more than you could to him. In the blink of an eye, his huge hands are wrapped around your petite neck, his warm breath hitched close to your ear, and he spoke with a low tone – “you’re right love~ they really do look better around your neck than that scarf.” Oh fuck, you know you’re in great trouble now.

He’s the one boy who tries his best to always do the best for you but the occasion always gotta go wrong one way or another; guess luck just wasn’t on his side – probably because Kei himself was the embodiment of luck. Your puppy boyfriend had fully planned out a picnic date on the beach for the evening – a view of the tangerine blob of light fading in a daze in the sky. Suddenly, it started pouring, both of you were drenched as you two booked it back to the car. The bright smile on his face has now faded into a dazed saddened frown – but you reassured him you had the best date ever which brought back his warm glittering smile that you’ve always adored.

Literally hates his baby photos and tries to hide every piece and bit of his childhood photos from you because those are what you’d use most to tease him with – “Awww look at who this cute little boy isssss~ this cute little boy who’s munching on snacks~ loookkkk, awwww I just wanna give him a huggg~!” – earning a pout and a frown from your cute boyfriend. “Hey! But this boy in front of you is cuter!” his whiny tone followed by a clingy hug; had you chuckling and giggling. Only he’s allowed to tease you; not the other way around!

Takes thousands of selfies of you two together but then hesitates which ones to post every single time – because he’s too indecisive – and just like that the photos weren’t post on theme because the special occasion was eventually over. Kei’s had this trouble even before you two got together but it did helped a bit now that you’re here since you’re more of a decisive person; you could guide and help out your troubled little boyfriend.

Pretends like he don’t wanna share you his food. Kei holds up the chopsticks, a piece of porkchop in between, practically taunting your hungry figure; swaying it in front of your eyes. Yet when you try to take a bite, the piece of meat goes flying straight to his mouth. Kei smiled and giggled at your shocked and pouty expression yet when he sees the saddened expression on your face, he can’t help but apologize and pile up snacks and meals right around you like a puppy building a nest.

Flirty and romantic – sometimes you even think he is the epitome of cupid but instead the kind who kept shooting heart arrows at YOU and apparently, it’s working because you just kept falling into a spiral of love around him. Blows hearts and kisses at you even through the air whenever he sees you pass by at work – and he does it really obviously too just to flaunt it. Matching outfits are a must, at home or outside. The type who could come up with a more heart-attack-like comebacks to your flirty and smutty comments. The type who would feed you with a kiss instead of a spoon – he loves to be unique okayyy.

Your personal dance teacher. He isn’t the type to convert you into his hobbies but you yourself originally was into dancing – and just knowing that your own boyfriend is a professional at it, got you requesting him to teach you. Very focused and determined when he does so; might be a bit strict with you though, but that’s just how he is when it’s work hours, so you aren’t complaining. Might get a little bit too touchy in some moves; ahem and then it leads to something else – heated sex in the practice room

Lovessss to flaunt his strength and size to you very often. Would pick you up out of nowhere with his single arm – “showing off your muscles again Kei?” – “hehe don’t pretend you don’t love them baby” (I mean he ain’t wrong-) Would also hug you from whatever position and you would just feel like being sunk into a huge giant teddy bear – perfect for the snowy winters.

Gets strict with you when it comes to your health. You’re the kind of restless person who loves to bury yourself in work and stress, and it might barely affect you but Kei is definitely phased. He’ll drag you out every morning to the park for morning jogs, take away your piles of fast food – and make you some fresh veggie salads and when the clock dings midnight – “alright enough work baby, time to sleep~!” – “naur but I need to finish this” – “absolutely not~” – drags you straight to bed and hugs you like a teddy. You can’t even escape with his size and weight. He makes sure you get enough sleep except those nights when you guys must attend to your sexual desires – he could definitely make an exception for that.

Needy, mushy, wet kisses that often escalate to needier events. Sometimes you would earn little pecks from your huge boyfriend as a sign of affection and you absolutely adored them. But whenever this puppy comes home from work, omg no more pecks, literally draws you into him and makes out with you to the point you felt like he was gonna eat your face. Your puppy’s just missed you too much, could you blame him?

When he sees you drowning in his oversized hoodies or shirts, omg it’s like his soul got thrown to a whole ‘nother dimension. Literally melts at the sight of it all, and doesn’t miss even a second to pull out his phone and spam the camera shots. At the same time, the tent in his sweatpants is seriously visible as well – got your eyes widening and everything. Welp, might as well get on with it now that the tent won’t go down~ and for the photos he took earlier? – well that can wait for when he gets to work – might need a release or two on his breaks.

It's about love, and about trauma, and the ways we love and the ways we trauma, and how maybe none of them look great from the outside, but we are on the outside, so maybe we should all shut up.

I started this while sitting on a beach, a calm and idyllic setting if ever there was one, with my heart racing and my jaw clenched.

A month or two before, I said to @screwby, "I really just want an angsty road trip fic, is that so much to ask?"

And behold! The angsty road trip fic of my dreams! Only this particular road trip is precipitated by Nate getting shot.

He stops a couple of bullets intended for the President of the United States (no, he’s not Secret Service, just in the right place at the right time, standing there being Nate Fick). He recovers enough to call Brad to come pick him up from the hospital.

They drive across the country, from DC to San Diego, and it becomes clear that whatever their feelings for each other, they haven’t spoken in 10 years. And yet Brad dropped everything to come get him.

It’s a trip of recovery, of Nate’s health both emotional and physical, of their relationship, of what they meant and could mean, and what they decide they do and will mean to each other.

It's by turns rough and moving, gentle and brutal. It's sexy and sweet and funny all at once.

Is this a long quote? Yes. Yes it is. But it also, for me, fully encapsulates what this fic does, like a punch in the gut (or a weak, post-gunshot attempt at violence).

"I'm asking you for help," Nate says. "You fucking retard." Nate's weak left hand lands on Brad's arm, fist closed. "Was that… was that a punch?" Brad stares, swallowing the rest of the wash of emotion. "Because what I saw was the most limp-wristed pussy faggot attempt at violence since that time Person got in a catfight with a fucking Laker girl." "Fuck you," Nate says, hitting Brad again, a little harder this time, but the effort shows on his face. "Brad." Brad takes his hand, gives the fingers a squeeze. "You're serious." "They'll fuck around for a while longer, probably months, maybe even years, but I'm going to have to. And I'm going to need. Help." Ten years where Nate didn't call, where the emails tapered off and finally stopped altogether. Nate graduated, Nate got married to some Back Bay princess, Nate wrote a book that barely mentioned Brad at all. Nate moved on. And Nate somehow knows, when Brad meets his eyes again, and he shakes his head. "I tried. But I missed you every fucking day," he husks. Brad bites down on the inside of his cheek. He's thirty-nine years old, he's a man, he's a Marine. He's not going to break down like some screaming teenage girl, pissing herself and crying at the latest Disney Channel dicksuck's concert. "You too," he says. Nate leans back in his seat, his whole body going slack. "Wake me when we hit Utah," he says, and closes his eyes.

- mav can and will flirt with anyone in any given situation; he will give petnames out the more the other reacts (cyclone getting pressed being called honey)

- maverick has a favourite spoon he always uses to eat  breakfast with. it is patterned, and is from the last set he received from his parents before they passed. it means a lot to him, so if you use it, he’ll state: ‘that’s my spoon’ and then proceed to stare at you for the rest of the day. only ice knows this. everyone else just comments on not to use that spoon or else.

- the spoon has made him superstitious, so if he cannot use it for breakfast (when he does have breakfast...) it instantly means that he will have a shit day.

- maverick is usually a black coffee guy. straight black coffee. most mornings? just that. sometimes a proper meal if ice or roos nags enough, but mainly just coffee. ice has either an iced coffee (wow aren’t i original) or a latte.

- maverick, after showers, uses his towel to do his hair up to dry it quicker. his hair is too short for that, but he’s been doing to long enough that it’s too awkward to tell him that it won’t work it’s also just funny to see him walk out of a door with a towel wrapped around his head like if he had just come from a salon

- phoenix is everyone's best friend. if you don’t like her; you’re a walking target and that one is on you. she’s a fucking queen and y’all can’t tell me different.

- phoenix is also a great therapist friend, though, sometimes you gotta just give her a hug so she’s reminded that you’re just as there for her as she is you.

- hangman has dyslexia, but is too good at masking it until it comes to writing reports on paper. it’s his worst nightmare, so he usually gets help from rooster by saying what he is thinking and rooster helps write down the important parts for hangman to write on his own

- iceman is a sucker for romance novels and picks up random quotes in them to write on a piece of paper for mav to find, read and collect (based off of a hc @justmiilo made with our ocs)

- mav loves animals; he will be at a party and only hang out with the pet there; he will be dragged around by ice or goose to meet people, before departing back to the pet - loves dogs frfr

- ice is a cat person ice has said: “honestly i am more of a cat boy” the rest of the juniors trying not to cackle: youre a cat boy??

- rooster got mav high once and gave him a flipping heart attack (not actually) mav: bradley is this how im supposed to be feeling i dont know if ive hit right rooster: chill man just relax, youre gonna give yourself a heart attack mav, now really panicking: im gonna have a heart attack???? rooster: no thats not what i- mav: UN-HIGH ME RIGHT NOW BRADLEY PLEA-

- Mav is banned from most public spaces especially train stations. very specific, but he’s made it a thing that he has to get banned from as many stations as possible

- ice and mav cuddling includes mav squaring up to be the big spoon but then melting in ice’s arms when he gets to be little spoon

- mav loves captain jack harkness from doctor who/ torchwood

- hangman complains about when he kisses rooster, his moustache gets in the way, but secretly, he doesnt mind it

- ice took mav to a wine couple art class (based off of the idea that ice can draw from my other hcs) and mav drank the wine while ice did the art

- mav helped bob get out of his comfort zone, to start not wearing a shirt around the beach (based off of the trans!mav and trans!bob hcs) so now they go visit the beach together sometimes to help grow each others confidence (like if mav needs anymore). theyve both had top surgery so

- goose has had a soccer phase, and would make the crew go into teams of two after volleyball to kick the ball around. he loved playing attack, so he could be in the front seat of the action for once.

- mav joined in, but was soon told to just stay in his teams box, because he would run all the way across the field to tackle the ball off of someone yes, soccer doesn’t allow tackling, but mav never got the message in his head, so they just added it to their games. mav then proceeded to become the most tackled person there.

- slider and ice are the biggest supporters of one anothers careers; they see each other like brothers so much it is crazy.

- mav and slider ride their bikes together (slider has a harley)

- ice usually goes out collecting either a drunk slider or a drunk mav off the side of the road

- THIS IS A POPULAR ONE BUT HC THAT ICE RARELY EVER GETS SICK, SO WHEN HE DOES IT TAKES EVERYONE BY SURPRISE - MAV ALSO GETS SICK OFTEN, BUT ITS NEVER THAT BIG. WHEN ITS MORE SERIOUS, EVERYONE IS ONTO HIM TO TRY LOOKING AFTER HIMSELF

- mav teaches the team MA fighting. he dared cyclone to go into a match with him; ends up cyclone is a secret MA fighting genius and mav got his ass beat. the whole team watched.

- cyclone and mav are close from just having to deal with each other. mav giving cyclone headaches, while cyclone gives mavs lectures brought them together. they share a beer here and there at a local bar when they can

- mav hates the city. like, really hates it. over stimulates from it hard.

- mav has ocd; those instrusive thoughts can sometimes be hard for him to control, which can sometimes explain why he does some erratic moves. he never got diagnosed about it till later in life.

- mav and commitment issues follow him everywhere for everything

- when hangman and rooster are exploring areas to carve their initials into around the base, they find mavs and ices old ones (yes, multiple) hidden behind a few desks

- ice dyes his hair to be bleach blonde; it’s actually a golden blonde but he hates it, so he makes it bleach blonde. mav likes his hair either way, but makes fun of ice when he dyes his hair. ice doesnt take kindly to this one day, mav was asleep and woke up with bleached highlights to his hair from ice. he wore a cap everywhere for months

So once my dad and I picked up my GF and mutual friend to have spring break together (went to Atlantic City, it was awesome), my GF was all sweet and clingy (we haven't seen each other since last week since I went home last Friday)

Once we arrived at the hotel, we settled in, had dinner and just hung out for a bit (nothing much happened day 1)

Day 2, we went to the arcade and just got a shit ton of tickets. All the while, my GF kept kissing my neck and sneaking in little pokes here and there. After getting back from the arcade, we chilled in the hotel room for the remainder of the day and my GF and I just laid in the bed. At times, she would start kissing my neck and tickling me cuz I would cheat her out of a kiss (it was great 🥰).

Next day arrives and we just walked on the boardwalk, took a nice long walk on the beach, went to a candy store, and just chilled in our hotel room and played video games and watched YT for a majority of the rest of the day. My GF and I ended up spending at least a few hours together in the rom, just cuddling and making out (as per usual). After a while, my GF and I were just being goofy and she started tickling me just because (again, this has become a regualr thing between us now and I love it 🥰💖)

Being the little brat I am, I kept being silly and cheating my GF out of kisses and playfully poking her every now and again. Then, she leaned in and said, "kiss me for real you coward." "or what?" "you already know.... I'll tickle you into oblivion~"

OH WIAT I REMEMBER NOW! We were playing SSBU and my GF killed me and out mutal friend 3 times and won! So we decided to attack her and she retaliated. It was so fun! After that, I had set down the pillow i was using back in the bedroom, and sat on the couch and watched as my GF and our mutual friend duked it out. Then this happened.

Then they both started attacking me with pillows. And my GF had the NERVE to hold me down while our mutual friend attacked me!

After that while we were going out, we had a 10-minute talk on how neither of us had a pillow fight in ages and how fun it was

The next day, if many of you know, Akira Toriyama (creator of DBZ) recently passed away (may he rest in peace and power 🙏🏾💖) Our mutual friend told us and I was devestated. Like many, I grew up with DBZ; it was my childhood and to hear that the creator of DBZ died broke me. Later that night before going to sleep, I texted my GF, and I quote:

"Hey can I ask u smth? Just thru text for rn. Ik ur a bit eepy and I'm sorry to ask this of u but um...... necesito sonreir....... The sting of the loss of Akira is still a bit fresh and....."

It was a few minutes after I sent that text and was a bit disappointed when she didn't reply. When she clicked her phone off, she turned to me and hugged me tightly. And then, she starts kissing my neck and scribbling my sides, and my glommy state ceased to exist. She pulled away with a smile and asked "better hun?" "yeah... thank you"

The night before we had to leave, my GF and I had a very heavy talk about smth (won't get into it) and it's been smth we've been avoiding for a while, but at the end of the concersation, it was a huge weight off our shoulders. After the talk, I looked at my GF and asked, "Necesitas sonreir?" (Do you need to smile in Spanish) "...I'm okay, hun. What about you?" I felt myself blushing a bit and nodded. My GF sighed contently before tickling my sides and kissing my neck. I ended up tickling her too, hearing her pretty laugh. After that, I laid on her chest and said, "There, I got you smiling too." she chuckled before placing a kiss on my head.

After we got back to their house, all that happened were some little pokes here and there. Moring came (this morning) i was a very eepy girl and was refusing to get up. When I finally got up, I was getting dressed but was also becoming drowsey. My GF (already dressed and ready) says "Don't fall back on the bed or I'll tickle you to death~!"

Let’s talk about Racism and the House of The Dragon/Daemyra Fandom

So, a few days ago, while discussing a point concerning Daemon’s character in a Reddit thread, and bringing up Nettles because it was pertinent to the discussion in question, I was called a “desperate black woman with low self esteem”. I was also stalked through several threads in different subreddits related to House of The Dragon, and received DMs with Reddit Package Care (for those who don’t know, it’s very common on Reddit to send those to people you are harassing, since the Reddit Care Resources talks about suicide prevention and offers help to those who have Suicidal ideation or are self harming. Is a twisted way of at best tell someone to kill themselves or at worse, subtlety threaten them).

In another incident on the same day, on another thread about the Daemyra beach sex scene, the OP had brighten up said scene as we all know it was terribly shot in terms of lightening. A few people commented the actors lacked chemistry. I joked about this, commenting the same thing. Like stated, I wasn’t the only one to say so. I was then questioned by a few people on my comment, asking me why I was “obsessed” with the idea of Nettles and Daemon being a couple, since they had researched my profile, checking my posts and comments, and came to the conclusion that I talked too much about the two characters, and quote “have a penchant for calling people who dislike your ship insecure or racist”. When I explained my initial comment wasn’t to be taken so seriously, and that my support for the ship was loud because the racist against the character was loud, I was dismissed as “obsessed with the weird fantasy of those two as a couple. She posts about it all the time. It’s low key pathetic”.

I have some observations about these two unrelated but oh so correlated incidents. First, I have no problems shipping and being obsessed with a ship. I mean, I am obsessed with book!Jaime and book!Brienne to the point I’m hosting an exchange on them (btw, deadlines are approaching uhuu. Can’t wait). I was obsessed with Caryl for a loooong time. I shipped Stiles and Malia to the point of waking up in the early hours so I could watch a new episode drop. These are just a few of my long list of ships. Point is, if I was obsessed with Nettles and Daemon, oh everyone would know. I am not tho. Yet. Emphasis on that, because depending on how the show turns out, they might be a constant thing in my blog for years.

I am loud in my support of Nettles being adapted not only as one of the most motherfucker interesting female dragonriders to ever exist, but also as a romantic love interest that she might have been on the books though because, as a person of color myself, it’s exhausting to read over and over again horrible takes about a character who has always been sidelined and neglected and forgotten by the simple fact she’s not white, and disregarded as a possible contender for a romantic arc with fave ugly white boy of the month just because she’s possibly black. Because that’s the reason. I KNOW when the dislike for a character comes from their possible involvement in breaking your favorite ship vs when it comes from racism disguised as “I just don’t ship them”.

Nothing said about me when it comes to shipping gets on my nerves. I don’t give a fuck tbh. I love some good ship war. I love mess. I love engaging in discussions where both sides are screaming about how their ship is better than the other. Its fun. It’s interesting. Fandom experience for me wouldn’t be the same if those things didn’t exist. One of my best times on tumblr and Twitter was talking about pairings I rooted for, and ranting over it with friends on DMs. Some of the best people I’m friends with nowadays came from being petty together that our favorite couple was destroyed by showrunners in favor of another or gloating about having a ship going canon.

Now when it comes to racism… that’s where things take a turn. When it comes to racism disguised as shipping discourse, that’s where it stops being fun and becomes something of “if they think they are loud, oh I can be so much louder”.

I’m gonna finish this long ass post with a simple question tbh: HoTD fandom, or more specifically, Daemyra shippers, if to hear that your ship might be bland or that the actors have no chemistry makes you irrationally angry, if you guys throw meltdowns over jokes about a bad filmed scene or a well based opinions on why your ship isn’t the fairytale you think they are… how do you think y’all would react if these were aimed towards one of your favorite characters?

Backstory: Originating from a relatively poor family, as a child she used to live with her parents in a cottage near beach, despite having loving parents, she was surrounded by a not-so-welcoming kids at her age whom were disturbed by her animalistic features and behavior. thus, she never really succeeded in developing a decent amount of social skills and her bad memories became the root of her pushover and easily trusting nature in a desperate attempt to make friends as an adult. After getting a degree in engineering school with outstanding grades, she spent extra two years in watch-making school to achieve a horology degree.

Clockmaking was an occupations passed to her from generations to generations which she was actually passionate about, being absolutely content to have her own small uneventful life by basically even living in her small clock shop. By the time she received a life changing letter, mentioning her uncle’s will (and how he gave the abandoned amusement park to her as inheritance), due to her pushoverness, Seal couldn’t decline the offer of signing the papers and becoming the new owner of the abandoned theme park. Even if it was leagues out of her comfort zone and on the first days was prepared to abandon the establishment and leave altogether during any flash of insecurity/ inadequacy that overwhelmed her.

But by sheer miracle of finding new accidental friends and hiring decent people who believed in reviving the old theme park, she manages to regain her confidence bit by bit, cling onto her passion for mechanics and officially put her love and focus on reviving the newly modified and revamped rides. All the while continuing to design and sell clocks as means to pay her amusement park employees.

After moving in the mansion and becoming the theme park owner, she has started to aimlessly study management books in her spare time in a desperate attempt to learn about the basics, and possibly gain some amount of authority and confidence over managing the place. But she much rather prefers to tinker with the amusement park rides and their mechanisms instead of focusing on park management

Out of curiosity, what was the reception to Azula’s character in Book 2 and 3 way back then

Oh, thank you for this ask, anon.

To really encompass the (online) reception is to consider opinions across various fan sites and forums from that era (not only for Avatar specifically but also animation communities in general), the fanfiction of the era, and the livejournal community.

For my part, I’ll state up front my limitations regarding this topic: I really only flit in and out of a couple of forums during book 3, and stuck around some after the finale. My experiences reading ATLA fics of that era were in the wake of the finale. And my experiences with livejournal never centered around Avatar. I can supplement this with reading I did of Azula discussions on an old Avatar forum recently.

I’ll also tag @captain-azoren if he wants to add his input, and leave this open to anyone else who has more firsthand experience with that era.

That said, here’s what I can say from a mix of what I remember from back then and read more more recently:

fairly early on, people kept being surprised that Azula is only 14; people confusing her for Zuko’s older sister has always been a thing

There were a couple of people who picked up on the possibility of Azula feeling neglected by Ursa, but this wasn’t a common observation 

In the build up to book 3, a theory that Azula supplant Ozai is the main antagonist cropped up.

“The Beach” was a turning point in some ways. It was divisive, with some wanting to throw it out/ignore it for Azula “appearing too out of character” while others appreciated for humanizing her some. A fair bit of surprise at depicting Azula as something other than heartless. (Of course, others just laughed regardless.)

The finale, while largely praised for Grey Delisle’s performance and The Last Agni Kai, was divisive in regards to what Azula’s fate likely was and should’ve been. 

A lot of claims of Azula being a sociopath flying around throughout all of this. (So many…)

As to the direct question, overall I’d say some appreciation of her as a villain, and some strong dislike/demonization. And just saying the latter doesn’t quite encapsulate the intensity of that demonization, or the insistence that other people also agreed. For that, I’ll just drop some selected quotes from forum posts made in 2007:

So what we're saying is that she wasn't MADE evil by some outside force. She became wicked all on her lonesome. So, you could say that she WAS born evil in a sense. Ever since she's been physically capable of complex thought, she's been a bad person. — a poster regarding Azula on what “Zuko Alone” said about her

I’ll also point out that most of these statements got some pushback at the time. But nonetheless, these are some pretty wild takes.

Anyway, I don’t feel comfortable trying to put ratios to that reception, but I do think overall there are more people sympathetic to Azula now than back in 2005-2008, as well as looking at her character through different lenses.

You said yesterday that you put on many faces and no one is really proud of any of them. There’s one I do want to focus on based off this one thing you said a long time ago.

Does that still hold true? If so…how come multiple people have told you it’s okay to be that animal you still shunned it out? Do you hate it…or does it hate you?

What’s your favorite music, and professional attire combo? Is it with your lab coat on or off? Or is it just the standard suit?
