Im a mod on a multi fandom discord community called The Beef Cult. Don’t be scared away by it’s name! We’re not insane people who worship beef! We are a community of friends who made a cozy place for all of us to hang out! Most importantly, we would love for you to join us! Have you ever wondered where the Muffin came from? It seem like they've been around forever, in all kinds of sizes and flavors. The modern muffin is actually a pretty recent development, however. Here's a look at a few fun facts about Muffins that’ll give you a little something to chew on with breakfast.

 Muffin History

 Today's muffins look a lot like cupcakes, but the first ones were a lot closer to what we now call an English muffin. They were little flat breads or cakes without much sugar. Bakers in development making them in the early 1700s, when the word was spelled moofin. Language historians think that the term comes either from Low German "muffe" or small cake, or Old French "moufflet" or soft bread. No matter how they got their names, muffins soon became very well-liked.

 By the 19th century, these little round breads had become much sweeter. Some of them still used yeast, but others relied on baking soda. They were still round and flat; many were actually cooked on a griddle instead of in the oven. Most muffins were plain wheat or corn. They could be eaten with butter or jam, and were usually relatively small.

 Flavors and Function

 A lot of new flavors developed from the original plain muffin sometime in the 20th century. Vanilla, blueberry and other fruit flavors were extremely common. The Bran muffin became popular when people realized the benefits of whole grain in the 1970s, while chocolate muffins developed as a dessert option. By the late 20th century, there were literally hundreds of options when it came to muffin varieties.

The way we eat muffins changed, too. Originally intended as a light snack or a side dish at dinner, these small baked goods became available for breakfast, dessert and all kinds of other Baking Ingredients uses. Now, it's not unusual to grab a muffin as a late night snack or even to eat one for lunch.

 The Fat and Sugar Explosion

 Along with the expanding range of muffin flavors came an increase in the fat and sugar content of these baked goods. Retailers discovered that making a more cake-like muffin allowed their wares to stay fresh longer. These muffins were also more appealing to buyers. Over time, they also grew extensively, expanding from about 2 ounces to as much as half a pound in weight. That makes the modern muffin a potentially disastrous food for dieters.

I haven’t been on here for a long time and I’ve even thought of closing this chapter for good. This blog has been the source of good things like some monumental friends, but a lot of bad things that gave me a lot of anxiety and stress. The drama over a television show drained me to the point that I stopped caring about myself and more about trying to defend characters. I did not recover from the callout post made a year ago about me. It was my worst fear whipped into one form and while many could brush it off, it fed into my social anxiety and influenced a parade of anonymous hate. It lasted for months. I replied to some. I ignored more. I tried using an ip blocker. It followed me even after I changed my username. I shut off anons. I relapsed on self-harm. I was unable to breathe properly without my inhaler at my side for days from the stress. Every time I saw a new inbox message my heart clenched out of fear. I no longer associated what used to be my haven as a good thing. I just looked at my blog and remembered the things said about me, I was humiliated to talk to people from the fandom out of fear that they were judging me, felt like I let down my friends.  I tried moving onto a new fandom, I tried posting, but the hate kept up and I still felt uncomfortable.

I’m sorry for disappearing and I’m sorry because I don’t think I can come back to this blog without unhappy feelings. I’m a lot happier and healthier now. I have another blog that I am happy on and feel safe. I’m not going to delete this blog because I don’t want it to be gone. I don’t know if I’ll ever want to come back or not, or if I can find a way to not feel so much stress here. I’ve thought of taking snafu-moofins back as my name and just saying “fuck it” and doing what I want, but I’m still hesitant. This isn’t fucking shade. This is just an update and an explanation for why I’ve been gone as well as closure. It feels pathetic to be so weak, but social anxiety fucks with me a lot and I’ve worked really hard to become as confident as I’ve gotten today. I don’t care if people wanna talk about this like it’s dumb or mock me. I think I’m different now, I think I’ve grown up a lot, and I look back on a lot of stuff that’s happened and cringe, but this blog made me. It made me meet some of my best friends and made me feel very confident and actually give a shit about myself. So thanks. I still check here every blue moon, so if you ever need advice or help, I’ll be here, or if you need my number or fb or something, hmu. Stay frosty.

9/6/17 - The Media Infects my Dreams too

Last night I had a dream I was walking to work and someone pulled me in this little alcove because there was this terrorist attack. We ran up these stairs but it was a dead end and the terrorist cornered five of us, and for some reason Theresa May was in this group. She said, "DON'T KILL ME! WE DON'T KNOW IF I'M STILL PRIME MINISTER YET" And the terrorist shot her in the head and everyone was like "OHHHH SHIIIIIT" like that fucking smash tournament vid. Then he shot two other people and was deciding who to kill out of me and another guy by working out whose online name was better. The other guy was called 5alive or something and the terrorist was like, "hoho I like that, it's like irony or something innit?" And then he said, about my username, something along the lines of, "MOOFIN HAVE A FOOKIN LOOK AROUND FER SUM FUKIN MUFFINS??? SEEKIN THEM BAKED TREATS??? ARE YOU A BAKER??? DO YOU APPRECIATE MUFFINS ENOUGH TO DESERVE THEM??? I like the name tho..." He may have also said "ARE YOU WIMBLY WOMBLERS MATE???" at some point
