junkrat x lucio wholesome hcs PLEEAASEEE PLEASE PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏
Boombox (Junkrat x Lucio) Wholesome HCs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: IK THIS SAYS ANON BUT THIS IS MY BFF YALL THX U FOR REQUESTING POOKIE ILY <333 also this just kinda turned into boombox hcs in general im srry qwq warnings: junkrat is his own warning that's it
Tumblr media
I'm just in love with them. I need to get over that first before I type ANYTHING
anyways-
Lucio staying up with Junkrat when Jamison is really into whatever he's working on at the moment
To be honest, seeing Lucio get tired makes him feel a bit bad and it ends with them both going to bed bc it's okay if Jamie is sleep deprived but it can't be his fault that Lucio is as well. That won't do at all!
And i see a lot of ppl being like "Lucio helps calm Jamie down <3"
BFFR
Lucio is an enabler.
Junkrat: BABE! WANNA SEE HOW MANY BOMBS IT TAKES FOR ME TO PASS OUT FROM SMOKE INHALATION? <3
Lucio: Hell yeah. Lemme get my phone
No one else is allowed to find the video funny tho
That's right. Lucio def notices how everyone in OW treats Jamie (idc im projecting here. WHY IS EVERYONE SO MEAN TO HIM IDC IF HE'S A CRIMINAL HE'S FUNNY)
DVa can maybe find it a bit funny, but that's cuz she gets BFF privileges
Lucio constantly hitting Junkrat with the "hold on, this song reminds me of you-"
Eventually he just makes a whole playlist
Junkrat has it blasting constantly in his workshop
That or he has every song by Lucio on shuffle
Now, Jamison's,,,talent,,, is a bit harder to show affection with
It took Lucio a long time to really grasp Jamie's love language, but now he knows that 99% of the time that Junk's bombs towards him are romantic
The other 1% are accidents and Lucio is the only person Junkrat apologizes to
He doesn't even do that for Roadhog, so this is a very rare honor
Junkrat is so on board with Lucio being a freedom fighter
"HELL YEAH! fuck the government! down with the enforcer! BLOW THEM UP!"
The enthusiasm is much appreciated, but Lucio does have to explain in detail what he's really fighting for
Junkrat's chaotic nature is just on board with anything
And, despite being the resident yapper of overwatch, he really does like listening to lucio telling him abt things he wasn't aware of while being in Australia
Lucio's telling him so ofc it has GOT to be important, yk?
Sorry this is all just such word vomit. They're my two mains and I just....love them both sm i cant
They're just such a chaotic duo together
Like yeah, Lucio is a pretty chill guy but god does Jamison bring out the worst in him sometimes. They're perfect for eachother
On the rare occasion, Lucio can get Junkrat to settle down long enough for cuddles <3 ofc the lad is still a bit twitchy but it helps him realize that maybe this isn't so bad
Lucio shows Junkrat a kind of love Jamison has never seen before and Junkrat helps Lucio learn that it's okay to lose his cool sometimes
They just compliment each other so well
TL;DR Lucio and Junkrat are so good for each other I will throw hands over this

More stolen memes as the arcana
Warning: One or two smut references
Mc: sipping on the hierophant’s wine*
Lucio: stop sipping so loudly!
Nadia: leave that little guy alone!
Lucio: the fuck you gonna do if I don't?!
Nadia: pulls out sword*
Lucio: ah, ahhh, AHHHHH!!!

Julian: holding a curly furred kitten* is this a cat... or a sheep?
Asra: a sh-at
Nadia: Don't call it that, please
Asra: A SHIT-TEN!

Lucio: if you think I'm rude you should hear the little voice in my head
~~~
Nadia @ Lucio: I touch myself whenever I think about you. More specifically, I rub my temples because I get a headache, because you're awful.
~~~
MC: I think some of you need to eat a slice of cheesecake and listen to ambient rain noises for ten hours
Muriel: I never once had a slice of cheesecake in my life and always thought it was something that only existed in that one place Asra visited once
Julian: I almost want to study you
Valdemar: may I offer a lab?
MC: why would he need a dog?
~~~
MC @ lucio: their is something deeply, fundamentally wrong with you. Can we kiss?
~~~
*table full of containers of brightly coloured neon glitter*
MC: I wanna stick my hand in it, but no I do not
Asra: Something in me wants to flip this entire table

Asra @ Lucio; I've met some pricks in my time but you are the entire fucking cactus.
~~~
Julian: haha, ok, I imagined some dragons, now what?
Julian: do I have to become radioactive next?
~~~
MC: do you have any regrets?
Muriel: Absolutely, thanks for asking. *proceeds to leave before MC can ask any follow up questions*
~~~
Lucio: people run from rain but sit in bathtubs full of water
Nadia: Wow, Lucio so profound. Do you also bathe fully clothed? 'isn't it funny that a person will eat when they're hungry but will duck if you throw an apple at their face'
~~~
mc: referring to things in real life as canon is so funny to me
Julian: Oh fuck, I hope what I did last night wasn't canon
~~~
Julian: I'm so tired I could eat a horse
Lucio: I identity as a horse and this offends me!
Julian: well I identify as offends and this horses me
Asra: I offend horses, identify me.
Nadia: I think the real question here is why would you eat a horse if you were tired?
~~~
Julian: I did a lot of things and half of those things will in fact be my downfall eventually
~~~
MC: it is pitch black outside and someone is mowing their lawn!
Muriel: power move?
MC: Update, that someone was Asra
Nadia: does he have a lantern?
MC: shouting out the back window* Asra do you have a lantern?!
Asra: shouting back* no!
MC: shouting back* how can you see?!
Asra: shouting back* moonlight!
Vulgora: people with interests are disgusting
MC: what about hobbies?
Vulgora: are you personally enjoying it?
MC: Quite a bit, actually
Vulgora: Gross
~~~
Asra: how many toes do you have?
Julian: you mean in my mouth or-?
Asra: blocked, have a horrible day
~~~
Asra: people are always like ‘are you a morning person or a night person?’ and I’m just like, buddy I’m barely even a person
~~~
MC: what's a gender neutral word you could use for your spouse? wusband? hife?? wifesband??
MC:...
MC: I may be stupid
Nadia: this is just like looking for your glasses when their on your head
~~~
Asra @ himself: tiny little dragons, in tiny little wagons, drinking little beers form their tiny little flagons.
  ~~~
Portia: when you scratch a cat’s chin and they lift their head up
MC: when you scratch a cat’s cheek and they lean their head into your hand
Portia: when you put your hand in front of your cat’s face and they gently headbutt
MC: When your cat runs just a little bit faster to get to you
Portia: almost crying from cuteness* cats
~~~
Asra: girls can be handsome, it’s all about vibes.
Nadia: similarly boys can be pretty. ‘Handsome’ and ‘pretty’ aren’t gendered adjectives and I will fight someone on this
MC: Handsome in the statue sort of way and pretty in the starry sky sort of way. Or handsome in the jawline sort of way and pretty in the eyelashes sort of way. If you asked me to define these I couldn’t but the vibes are there
Asra: YES! EXACTLY!
~~~
Asra: I can’t believe you don’t want bofa
MC:....
MC: probably going to regret this, but, what’s bofa?
Asra: bofa my arms wrapped around you in a loving hug
~~~
Julian: why not make your own foot scrub?
Lucio: one feet are pretty hard to make and two don’t call me scrub ever again
Julian: rebooting*
Julian: wait what?
Wait now that I think about it I wonder what characters that the YV boys would pick....
Well I would put them in diff categories first.
There's
Tank:
I really only see like two being tank.
Red as tank he'd play the newest Tank Mauga they both give me the vibes.
Maybe Auron...but like as a Ramattra or Reinhardt either all up in the other team or protecting others when needed.
Damage:
I feel like most boys fall in this category bc I can't see them as tank or support. Maybe a dps support.
Auron might either be Reaper or Symmetra. Reaper bc lmao emo (lovingly) but likes sneaking up on people when he turns to mist. Symmetry bc he helps the supports get from spawn to point bc it takes forever to get there. He will fight for any supports bc you are NOT targeting my supports.
Charlie would be a good Sombra main bc she can turn invisible and hack people. I think he'd like fucking with people while invisible just doing Sombra main things.
Alphonse is kinda hard to place but I can kinda see him playing Junkrat since he's supper chaotic. I can also see him using JR's ult on so many people.
Seth for shits and giggles I can see him playing Cassidy. Maybe another dmg character but idk hes kinda hard to pick. But I can see him practicing Cas and end up loving him.
Faust my Moon, you have shit aim but I can see him maybe trying to be better? So I think soldier is a good pick for him bc his aultimate is aim bot.
Support:
I can see like two of them permanently being support when playing.
Jack would be a chill Lucio main. But don't underestimate his boops j can see him getting most kills that way.
Finn obvi is a support I can see him as Mercy, Lifeweaver or Zenyatta. I feel like he's only support bc if he's all up in the chaos he will be panicking bc of it. He panic resurrects people.
Faust us only a healer bc he has shit aim. I can see him being a Moria. Only bc you can fade away from enemies. But also can use heal orbs on yourself and team. I can see him being a dps Moria.
yippie!!
ok so one day i was hangin out and thinking about how jinx and murie are both my favourite little sad wet guys in my two fave medias of all ever *And* at the same time SO far apart on the spectrum personalitywise
and it took me listening to this to flip the switch on the Autism Blender and want to just fucking mash them together like a coked up toddler making Slime out of fish guts and hayao miyazakis mothers ashes because thats what i do thats my job💅👌so theeeen it comes out pretty reminiscent of my first muriel au that also sprung up from a song i like, just- a bit to the left? like, moving along on the scale from The OG not liking violence and being involved in it whatsoever, to AU 1 where i pictured him going "yeah ok fuck it this is what i do i guess" and revengy motives to his whole thing that i now connected with him more thru the song lmao it just made me realize the vision of like. jinxies "murderingmurderinmurdering 💕fun✨" aspect + his potential desire to still do good things despite being doomed to be a machine made for destruction (ignore the fact of that desire being nonexistent in his canon form because of how he perceives himself as a thing unable to achieve performing any good ever under any circumstance) (but still refusing to actively cause harm as he isolates himself to prevent any situations arising that would lead him to do so) (ignore all that) (were yassifying him a little were allowed its fine ive already lost the plot here anyway were wildin) so a vigilanty type beat and also ~my axe is my buddy🥰 we both cry with the trees😔✊ /me & my axe will bring the devil to his knees (✿◕‿◕ )~ goes hard as phUCK
so then all that led to This new V.3 mutation where hed be actually having fun with it........ so I kinda start turning him over in my brain some more, forgetting about jink by now and at first I go Huh this is kinda. him but lucioey a lil bit. and THEN i go hm. Well this ground is awful soft n ready to dig
so with all that out of the way i can now present!: Brand New Vague Shadow of a Concept of an Idea that ill Never Do Anything with
and I really don’t know how to verbalize this very well at all mmjfdh but like. Ok bulletpoints activate
Muriel:
From a badass warrior tribe
Didn’t get booted out cuz theyre fine this time oopsie no genocide
Hes in there way chillin way awesome way good at fighting everybody loves him
Hes like. Way himboey in this one. SO jock. Smiles a lot <3 <3 <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3
Like okay if i was actually serious about writing this I think id need a fucking lucio consultant because I really know zilch about that bitch but like okay you know how lucios kinda all scary n cunty and cunning and fancy and seems like hes got shit figured out. Until he *starts talking*? Muriel here is like that but hes just really fucking scary until he starts talking BUT not like normally where hes adorable just has resting bitch face, its just like. that part of him that came thru in the reversed ending at the very end, yknow. but make it less depressing ihjhsrfbjs hes like full letterman jacket highschool bully core total kurt & ram vibe, like ok youd see him on a battlefield ABsolutely WRECKIng some fools into a pulp with his bare bear hands and immediately after that he turns around like WOOOOOOO THAT’S what im TALKIN ABOUT LETS GO GUYS WHO WANTS A BEER *cut to him chugging an entire keg over his head with da boys around losing their minds* like think college frat but they raid villages for fun and profit. Pretty orc coded. Kinda thor coded. Actually exactly thorcoded wow that really is what I was going for. I was wondering why I couldn’t help imagining him with a australian accent, I guess that’s a mystery solved. anyway
Maybe his parents got killed in some other battle im not sure how to weave around that in detail yet BUT- ok so check this I thought ill have to give him some motive to wanna reach the devil somehow for,,.,,… something right. to make him fill an antagonist role So this might be stupid a lil I just thought of this and it needs to cook for sure but what if he just rolled up into vesuvia as the magic capital or something whtver, to figure out how to get to talk to the devil, cuz he just like, really wants his parents back cuz they got valhallad in some glorious combat, and they were cool and he misses them and they could fight some more cool fights together and pillage n chill jhbsfvjgzdc beCAUsE hear me out im rolling with the swap inversions opposites motive here right, so the thing that popped up in my head was- Lucio had the “I wanna kill my parents bcause I hate them and so I can rule and get what I want” thing goin at the start right, like that is basically what started it off he got his dad he didnt get morgha SO what IF I gave murie a “i wanna conquer this place and use it to get my parents back. cuz I missem :(” like fully turned it around idk IDK IT SEEMS MESSY IDK IS IT CUTE IS IT DUMB IT MAKES ME FEEL DUMB BUT IN THAT WAY THAT MIGHT MEAN THAT ITS ACTUALLY WORKING BUT I DONT KNOW *screaming with no air*
But overall yeah hes khal drogo but more noticeably himboey but not in a likeable way cuz were switching them so I cant make him likeable for myself hnjdgfgb leaning into popular dumb jock trope
UnLESSSS i DID combo it with murdermuriel au 1.0 some more and made their tribe like. Not murdery somehow like what would be the opposite of the og scourge roaming around ruining shit. well that was the og kokhuri but now I gotta do some fucking triple axels here to make it make sense so how the fuck do I make this version of kokhuri more warriory in culture than the original but still nice like robinhoody style jhbfsvhjbs this is falling tf apart might need to scrap it bc on lucios end itd be even harder wouldn’t it. Spartan cunts but they don’t kill people that’s a nono lmao
now im thinking some more about the aspect of lucio being, you know. a pretty shitty leader right, and how to incorporate that here, because i have no idea if im following an actual set rule here regarding whats swapped and how even, theres barely a theme im straight up just
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but yeah so now i figure it could be murie tryna get his folks back because they were the actual defacto leaders of their tribe, he was just kinda still following along and doin his chores in being the uhh the face, the charisma, the one to kinda like. get the people on board easier with whatever decision they made for them and hyping it up as the best possible choice anyone could ever make and maybe even actually believing it too cuz theyre actually that tightknit and he trusts them with anything aw. is this too onedimensional or can i give my boy some good nice facking family relations at least in an alternate life ghhkjkfdh hes their pride n joy and can do no wrong but yeah the point is he himself hasnt actually made any decisions without them before, isnt very good at actually leading and strategizing and planning and knowing how everything complicated works and he knows it, so he sees his only solution in bringing them back to not let everything fall apart
SEE I BROUGHT IT AROUND I CLEANED UP NICE WITH OG LUCIO SETTING OFF FROM THE POINT OF FEELING LIKE HES THE BEST AT EVERYTHING AND SHOULD B RECOGNIZED AS SUCH AND TRYING TO GET RID OF HIS PARENTS TO GET IT AND MY BOY HERE ENDING UP EXACTLY OPPOSITE. GO SHAWTY GO SHAWTY IM SO SMART am i fucking up lulus backstory i feel like i am cuz im like wait what the fuck did he kill his dad for again. demonheart. deal. thing. whatd he wish. like he wasnt already running for count n shit yet he did want to climb up the ladder in his own tribe right i have no idea yell at me in comments thank you
I also don’t know if the first (last) scourge battle wouldve happened or nah
Lucio/Montag
Oh my fucking god what if I figured out an alternative L moniker for murie so theyd get to switch letters in their namesssssssss like lucio is a made up name he made it up so like UAGHASHG L.,,,...,, Lion ofthe,... south NO he HAS to be bEAR CODED AAFYFFHG BUT LUCIO HAD LEOPARD IMAGERY N SHIT RAAHAHHGH IM FITIN FOR MY LIFE HERE
Anyway he lives in a forest somewhere cuz his tribe threw him out fully voluntarily bc he sucks ass (or at least for their standards cuz I guess he would be way younger than 18 here for this) (Like a spartan type deal ur too weak we don’t want you *drops you off a cliff*  *but theres 4 feet of snow under it so he survives*  *that’s so fucking goofy hjbsfbj kinda suits him*) so uhhhhhh i don’t know where hed be currently chilling for an mc to meet him ever but yeah hes kinda Floki Vikings™ type of vibe at least visually that’s what came to mind first to picture him lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
look at this little blond rat bastard. adorable. becoming increasingly obsessed. picturing lucio with this exact hairline. moving on
and his thing is hes still insecure as fuck but worse at ignoring it and hiding it and hes a lil nervous bundle of sticks and always talking bc of it, kinda Bruno Madrigalesque type vibe julian but a pitch more pathetic who knew it could be done yknow? opposite of The OG The Mountain The Stone Cold Silent The Muriel The Scourge The Kokhuri The Third and also me when writing and not stopped in time
oh oh what if he was totes in denial that his tribe kicked him out and in his view hes on some super intense convoluted secret mission (lasting from. age 7 to now apparently) and as soon as hes done they’ll totally come back for him kdfsgjffd I thought it could either be his own copium or he took it from some last interaction with someone who took pity on him as a kid and wanted to give him some comfort, or something he misunderstood entirely
hm. They both have canid familiars idk what to do with that. muriel with two wolves tho. thats hot shit righ there if i do say so myself
oh now im toying with the idea of taking away muriels SUPPOSED YET UNCONFIRMED AS MY VERY CONTROLLED ACADEMIC STUDY HAS SHOWN COUGHCOUGHJHBSRGJBHF talking to animals buff, i dont wanna just take it and give it to lucio tho, but like. what the fuck else do i give him. astral projecting to tie into his ghost era? sounds dope actually alright lets do that lmao
ok its 1 30 am i hope this is comprehensible to anybody anywhere im zonking out now khbsfhbfk love u
@tetsuooooooooooo I've missed your essays, this was such a treat to log in to!!!
And WOW, thorcoded Muriel is not something I ever would have thought of on my own but oddly enough I feel like the AU you're coming up with could really work, goodness me. And the way you've inverted Lucio's character too!! I'd love to see how their interaction dynamics invert as well!
Always good to hear from you friend, hope you're doing well!
It's also pretty much the thesis of Granblue that through friendship, all things are possible. We're powerful because we have friends and have created genuine bonds and love
That's also how the Skydwellers managed to win the war against the Astrals and drive them out
That's how primals, who shouldn't be able to change adapt and grow beyond their purpose and make friends
It's this quintessential thing, Skydwellers are strong together and they're determined, especially when fighting for their friends
And as such it makes sense that Astrals can't do that. Like you said, they're very individualistic and don't care about other people
Lucilius doesn't have a genuine bond with Belial, Lucilius and Beelzebub are a hot backstabbing mess, Lilith has people worship her while not actually giving a fuck
As good villains they show basically why friendship is because they don't have it. It's classic writing, but it just works
right!!
like yeah it's kind of the basis of the genre but i do think they worked it so deeply into the lore that it ends up working out well.
the whole battle with Lucio in wmtsb pt3 is all about Lucio putting it into words, that while Skydwellers are weaker, this weakness drive them to work together, and as such, they come out as stronger.
the idea, imo, is that Astrals don't face challenge as regularly as Skydwellers do, so as such they don't readily ask for help around them, and as such they don't create bonds that mean anything.
I think Lucilius is even greater of an example there due to the fact that he still was plagued with Lucio's dreams and it gave him an actual challenge, in a society where people don't rely on one another.
So it explains how Lucilius tried to cope with it by creating the first primals, because since he couldn't rely on anyone, he could rely on his own creations.
(and the Astrals who took his researches to invade the Skyrealm laters developped the primals as a self reliance tool because they couldn't rely on one another)
but in the end Lucilius is still an Astral through and through, and since the primals were not exposed to the skyrealms yet, they couldn't either influence Lucilius into changing. They weren't meant to rely on one another. except Lucifer, who was supervising the evolution of the skyrealms, and as such, was influenced by the skydwellers even before Lucilius' death, and eventually why he was the only one changing, and relying on others, like he used to rely on Belial or see Sandalphon as more than his (lack of) purpose. And probably why Belial has such a hard time getting out of this mindset, or how Sandalphon's lack of purpose made him work outside of Lucilius' influence to start with.
Like, ultimately the worldbuilding of Granblue is trying to replicate things of the Shounen genre, yes: there's power in friendship and love, the big enemies don't know what it is, there's big bads to take down ect...
but Granblue put a lot of thoughts into explaining why it was this important to their universe.
like i think it's doing a disservice to the primals for instance if we don't take into account the impulse of their purpose if we discuss them. Like "why would this primal be this stubborn into doing something this stupid" because they don't have a choice and don't have the ability to change.
and so, the same thing extends to the Astrals to a point. It's easy to just think of them as another type of people in the skyrealm, like if they're just Erune or Primals or something. But I think Granblue is trying to show how this lack of reliance on one another can turn people super apathetic, by showing us a civilization who only can do this type of things.
The whole idea of Granblue being a post-apocalyptic world where the split of the Omnipotent had an impact on its two group of people is especially shown in how disfunctional the Astrals are, and as such it's important imo to judge an Astral by taking into account the society they grew up in.
and yeah at the end of the day the theme is simple, friendship wins it all, but it's fascinating to see just how deeply they worked on it on a worldbuilding perspective, right?
Changes / Additions to Muriel's route 11/22
These are more notes for myself more than anything but I thought I might as well share. This is also besides the obvious stuff like he knows what a market is and of COURSE has been in the shop before. (seriously wtf???) Putting under a cut bc there's A LOT. like. A LOT !
Rosie picks up on Muriel's dislike of crowds / general fear of red street and suggests they duck into a garden to wait out the crowds. Unfortunately up until this point she'd been stopping to chat like every 5 minutes which he understandably got frustrated with. This is also when she asks about the chains he wears, and its mentioned that he and Asra have tried everything to break them. (Hinting that they're in someway connected to the Devil / whatever Lucio's been dealing with.) She doesn't ask about them again. ||
Muriel in general in the early chapters is way more prickly / mean because 1, I think that's hot and 2, he doesn't want to fucking be there. ||
His magic and rune casting becomes way more of a plot point, especially in how they navigate through the Steppes / Keep up w Morga. Lots of classic fantasy druidism TM vibes. ||
Khamgalai does die, but she's not getting killed of literally within the same day. Muriel + Rosie get to spend like at least a week with her , meaning 1. more info / worldbuilding about his culture and 2. When she does die it actually has some impact instead of just being shock value. ||
Speaking of Khamgalai, I'm also moving the first kiss between Rosie/Muriel to when they're staying with her. Personally do not like in the canon story how it happens while he's literally having a panic attack. He deserves to have that when he feels safe and content. Thinking something along the lines of just a quiet moment shared on the porch at sunrise. ||
Instead of being given a bow Rosie is given a pair of knives (given how Morga has already seen that she has some familiarity with them) with the runes carved in them she can make them sort of boomerang in and out of her hand. ||
Morga's crimes / lack of action are also addressed and taken far more seriously. Muriel had every right to be mad and he should have been allowed to be. ||
Might add in a chapter or two where they stop at the inn again as sort of a thematic "back to where we started from" type thing except they're worn out and scarred from the journey. Things start to get a little hot and heavy between them but Muriel puts a stop to it bc so far only bad things happen to the people he cares about / they get taken away from him, and he doesn’t want that to happen to Rosie. ||
Muriel is initially very wary of the townsfolk sheltering in the forest, especially the wealthy. Not too long ago these were the same people who were watching him fight for his life for their entertainment. Rosie backs him up on this. (it helps that she doesn't like the nobility to start with either lmfao) ||
I might have them meet his parents when they're in the spirit world??? It truly felt like that's what it was leading up to but idk. The Hermit himself is also more serious and not played off as a gag. ||
Muriel suggests that instead of a siege, they invade the palace via the way-stones and passageways . Right before they can begin phase one, they’re invited to speak to Lucio at the Lazaret. He proposes a series of games / feats of strength, for “old times sake”. They initially refuse, but Lucio implores them to reconsider, implying that he’s somehow gotten wind of their plans of invasion. After some discussion they begrudgingly agree, but on one condition. Only they get to choose the games, he has no say in them and is only a contestant. ||
Football to save the world is funny but also incredibly jarring giving the tone of the previous chapters. After the evening banquet Lucio enters the arena and states something along the lines that he’s let them have their fun, but they simply haven’t played fair. Using devil magic:™: he warps the landscape and the Coliseum begins to close in like a giant bear trap. One more big fight before everything is said and done.
I said I'd make a post detailing my kid Asra working for Lucio theory in this post so here it is!
So Let's get STARDED.
So! To start off, how it began. We do know when Asra and Muriel were kids, Lucio came to them each seperately with a deal.
Essentially: work for me, or I'll hurt your friend.
Tumblr media
This was the sentiment he repeated for both of them. So, not wanting the other to be harmed, they both agree - unaware of the other's deal.
For Muriel, it was playing heel/excecutioner at the coleseium. For Asra, it was doing... Well, we never know, aside from he worked under Lucio. But that's what we are here to discuss in any case.
Continued under the read more, for the sake of people's dashes.
Now presumably, if I got my timeline right, Asra at this time would've been around 12 or 13. We don't know much about how Asra was when he was younger, other than that he has certainly changed.
It's also worth noting that it's not amiss to say they were both also still homeless at the time, and the hut hadn't come into the play until after.
Tumblr media
Asra was still living on the streets.
This all isn't overly important for any of my claims later, but perhaps someone else could make something of it. It does provide us with some framing for the situation as a whole, though.
Now onto Asra's time under Lucio. I don't know that we have any indication of how long it was, but presumably at least a year if not more.
We do also know that Lucio knew who Asra was. Both in that he knew Aisha and Salim had a kid, and that he knew Asra was said kid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is bring this up because we know Aisha and Salim were incredibly talented, and likely incredibly powerful. Lucio wouldn't settle for any run of the mill magician or alchemist for the work he needed. So he must've had some idea that Asra may take after that power as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To top it off, he also interacted and talked with the dock kids he also used, (two of which would actually later become palace guards,) and seeing as this is seemingly how he learned of Muriel, it's not off to think that this is also how he heard of Asra again to start. The kids knew of Asra's magic, and roughly where he was, and could've even continued talking about both Muriel and Asra to Lucio for unknown amounts of time.
So now Lucio knows that the kid of his two powerful practitioners of magic is not only still around, but taking after them as well.
If Muriel's intimidating size and physical power are what drew Lucio to him, why wouldn't Asra's considerable metaphysical power and talents draw Lucio in as well?
We know how much Lucio loves power, and that he has an interest in magic because of it, as mentioned in the main story. (no ss sorry... If you have one send so I can add. )
Plus, homeless kid in a vulnerable spot. Easy pickings.
That's what I think this whole thing was about, really. It's all power. Though Asra likely didn't have the full scope of power he does in the current game, he was probably still considerably talented, and was only getting better.
What Lucio specifically probably wanted from Asra then was either to be taught how to use that power, to use Asra for things that required it, and/or use his power for entertainment akin to how he used Muriel.
I think out of these however, using him for his power was most likely. Why? (And teaching him now, more on that further down)
Tumblr media
(Sorry for bad quality lmao it's a small image. Also thanks to @8-bit-space for showing these to me like months ago. As you can see I can't stop thinking abt it)
These are screenshots from the old prologue. While they're not canon any more, there's reason to believe they still hold merit as to how Lucio feels about Asra.
Two things to me are major here. First is the "powerful potent magic," and how it's the "real deal," equating to a large part of how he views Asra yet again tying back to a heavy interest in his power. Now, you could argue this relates to using his powers in the palace during the plague, but the second point stands out even more to me.
"The one who broke him for me?"
What this implies to me is that Lucio could never quite get all the way through to Asra or control him when he was younger, and he's been dying to do so. He wanted Asra broken, presumably so that he'll become essentially a tool for him to use for his skill and not put up a fight- something Asra likely did as a child.
Because it seems that Lucio for the most part relied on control through fear when it came to Asra, threatening to hurt Muriel, lying to him about how he executed his parents, likely other things as well. But things seem to point to that never quite working like he had hoped.
Tumblr media
This could allude to this as well. Though "impossible" is something Asra's been called a few times, namely also by Julian, there's no reason to assume Lucio wasn't also including his work with him as a kid in "always". Impossible to hate could be his draw to Asra for his power, his talent, his skills, the prospect of which I'm sure Lucio found practically mouthwatering. Impossible to love could be his stubbornness or reluctance to do what Lucio wants, always pushing against him or being hard to deal with, both as a kid and during the plague.
Tumblr media
And lines like this, where he calls him a coward. I find it hard to relate this to the plague ritual as he was for the most part willingly helping with that, so it could be resenment for when Asra eventually ran off as a kid, unwilling to put up with him any longer, or his reluctance to do certain things for him then in general.
We know, and it has even been mentioned by a character within the canon, that Asra can be incredibly stubborn, to back that up. Plus, he could've been even harder to work with then both being a kid and as I mentioned earlier he has changed from how he was then, so he could've had more spunk to him or such.
This also easily means that what Lucio was trying to get Asra to do then was something Asra was quite obviously opposed to. Being used for his power is already degrading enough, but there could be more to it.
You'll notice in the post that was linked at the top (the reason I'm writing this) I mentioned pushing Asra to his physical limits and magical extremes. This could be one of the reasons for a push back.
If Lucio was having Asra do things for him involving magic, it's not out of pocket to assume he'd practically run him into the ground- I'm sure he really wouldve loved testing the limits of what Asra could REALLY do.
Wether it be huge expendure of power all at once, or tons of smaller things one after the other, it would absolutely take it's toll. We are shown a few times that using magic can exhaust someone, and I don't remember if this is shown in canon ever (tell me if so!) but pushing it even further could definitely lead to other things such as passing out, (Or nosebleeds, for the aesthetic,) alongside likely being incredibly painful and draining, both mentally and physically.
Basically, abusing his powers and the body that commanded them. It's also possible that the stubborness to work with Lucio could also be partially percieved because of this- Lucio taking Asra's literal physical inability to continue as defiance.
Another reason for push back from Asra would be making him do morally compromising things. This is a little more vague, but intimidation is a common headcanon I see for what Lucio made Asra do, and that could tie in here. Other things could be meddling in things and business he shouldn't, but again, it's a vague thing. Make of it what you will. Fucked up stuff all around.
[EDIT - TEACHING LUCIO]
Tumblr media
(THANK YOU @tea-tye for showing me these, and credits to @hangedman-magician for the video they came from!!!!!!!)
...I cannot BELIEVE I forgot this, I KNEW I was missing something. Especially when I was fairly certain I remember Lucio being obsessed with the idea of magic. SO, MOVING ON,
There's not terribly much to pick apart here as it's rather direct- Asra saying he has in fact tried to teach Lucio magic. So in my eyes this solidifies that this was a component of Asra's time under Lucio. I still think my points about Lucio treatment (pushing Asra to his limits) stand, as well.
This can also tie in the stubborness mentioned as, well, can you imagine teaching Lucio? Asra backs this up by saying nothing he has ever said stuck with Lucio, and you know how Lucio gets when things don't go his way. He would've blamed his inability to learn on Asra, likely.
Looking to other quotes mentioned: the 'broke him' line still rings to me like he was trying to use Asra in other ways, and the 'coward' line could go either way from refusing to teach Lucio certain things, or refusing to do certain things for Lucio when he was merely being used. The "impossible" line could also go for others, as trying to teach someone like Lucio would've undoubtedly caused some head butting.
This is certainly really exciting and interesting to me as it gives a more complete picture on the exact situation at hand here. I still stay by my reasoning for Lucio simply using Asra as well on top of being taught because it seems highly likely that Lucio would've been too impatient to learn to do certain things himself, and like I said as well, I don't doubt he also just wanted to see what Asra was REALLY capable of. Something he could've saw as a tantalizing insight into the kind of power he could aquire of this kid would just... work with him.
NOW we have a MUCH clearer answer as to what exactly Asra was likely doing under Lucio, or at this point, almost certainly doing. It's a sad picture for Asra of course, but with this you can draw some interesting points as to how he could've been affected by this, as I'm sure it would've left some kind of imprint on him.
Sure it may not have been as traumatic as what Muriel went through, but when you look at it, it's hard to say it DIDN'T leave it's scars. If we consider all the points presented in this post truth we have:
A 12/13 yo homeless child, threatened with his friend's life to work for the Count that he knew was the one responsible for orphaning him and making him homeless in the first place.
Said child believing his parents are still alive, and as we see in Travel at Night, could very likely still be trying to find them. In a situation like Asra's that glimmer of hope probably was a big deal in helping him push on. This may also be a reason he agreed on top of Muriel's safety.
While working under the count, he is told that his parents were executed, no doubt devastating. The manner in which this was mentioned is up for debate, and could affect exactly how it was taken. Options could be Lucio joking or bragging about it (treating it as trivial or an accomplishment), or using it to threaten Asra, (as in I killed your parents, I'll kill you too,) both would work when it comes to controlling by fear.
It is also mentioned that Lucio told him the reason for his parents execution is that they messed up his gold arm, so Asra also has the knowledge that his parents were killed over something so unbelievably trivial.
Being used as a source of power and nothing else, both for teaching and pure work/entertainment, all for the man who killed his parents, day after day.
Being pushed to physically painful and mentally draining limits, expending so much energy that he completely exhausts himself, day after day.
Likely taking all sorts of verbal abuse from Lucio, day after day.
Like mentioned earlier, it seems clear that Lucio wanted to break Asra, so some other form of trying to chip away at his psyche to make him more convenient for Lucio is likely as well.
Those points alone, to yet again a CHILD no less, seem more than enough to cause some traumatic impact, and depending on certain specifics of what exactly went on during that time, it could be worse. I may make a post looking into the long lasting effects of this on Asra, I may not. It would mostly be headcanon regardless. If you want to add your hc relating to this situation though, I'll gladly reblog it!
And now that we are closing out, it's time to revise my summary. So, without further ado, THIS is what I think was going on during this time.
Lucio knows of Asras existence and parentage.
Lucio learns Asra is around and that he's got power.
Lucio LOVES power, so he threatens Asra into working for him.
Lucio uses Asra for his power and to be taught how to use it for himself.
While using Asra for his knowledge and power, runs him into the ground by pushing his limits to physical and magical degrees, possibly even moral.
Asra pushes back against a lot of this, or is at least percieved to, frustrating Lucio.
Lucio does what he can to try and control Asra even more, primarily via fear, but can't seem to crack him.
Eventually it's too much, and Asra leaves. Likely when the plague hit like Muriel, but it's possible it could've been somewhat sooner. Lucio is PISSED, because he wanted that magical power all to himself.
Less related, I can see Lucio trying to brush it off and pretending to be fine with it, excuse being "he was too difficult to work with, anyways," or something.
...And then... years later, as far as Lucio sees it, Asra comes crawling back- and he's tamed down to a degree! He's actually working with him. Lucio might not know what or who did it, but Asra is finally broke for him, and I'm sure he was absolutely ecstatic to have that power back in his hands- and more than ever before.
Think of all of this as you would like!
At the end this is all still speculative, so definitely feel free to make your own points or say if you feel any different abt anything- expansions or counters on this theory/headcanon welcome!
And if you also have any other screenshots or info not here that could add to the theory or change the outlook of certain things definitely add them!!! I feel like I'm missing stuff for sure, and my memory has probably muddled some things (hopefully I didn't get anything wrong, though.)
And @asrascherry thanks for the offer in helping word my hcs also! I forgot to say that. This one is just so long I wouldve felt bad bringing it all to you 😔 it's probably still messy as a result but I tried lmao (worried it's repetitive or unclear 😬)
Uh yeah! That's mostly it for NOW.
+All the love to Asra for going through so much I'm so sorry bb,,
Thanks for reading!
Yandere Arcana
Ayo so um.. with 723 followers I really be expecting people for more input on things I should write (requests, ideas, convos, etc) but um.. I guess not? Lol. Anyway since I’m basically writing for like a couple people (people who actually respond to my work cause I like that. If you just like and reblog that’s fine but I still like hearing what people have to say about my work. If your shy don’t be.. I literally don’t judge..) I’ll go ahead and write scenarios for Yandere Arcana. If y’all want more of this just tell me. I was almost tempted to do nsfw lol!
I wanna say that I haven’t played the game enough to finish anyone’s route and while I want to, ya girl broke so picking choices is something I have to wait a while for as well. (The cost on those coins and I can’t even get a Valdemar route??? What type of shit-)
If any of the characters seem ooc I apologize I just really wanted to write this so um.. yeah.
I guess I’ll take the time to part a warning right here: If you don’t like yanderes or anything of the sort I suggest you don’t read this! I would do the ‘below the cut’ thing but I’m all honestly I don’t know how to.. so here ya go!
You have been warned!
-
Asra
Asra is a tricky yandere. He knows you well enough to get into your head.
He may take times to keep a distance from you but whenever he messages you or comes back he always makes sure to show you so much affection just so you hopefully don’t question anything.
He’ll act like something to you matters to him, and usually they do matter but if you’re talking about a love interest or something he’ll act supportive but will really be a bit annoyed on the inside.
Depending on your love interest he may get upset or simply will smile and try to ‘help you get them’. Don’t let it be Lucio or Julian.. he’ll be furious.
If he acts like he’s happy to help and your LI disappears then he probably did or didn’t send them somewhere where neither of you two can meet again. Like a portal to a dark cold place or something.
He’s like a snake.. or even a fox. He’s the magician for a reason.
Nadia
Nadia probably won’t even hide how much of a yandere she is.. okay maybe just a little.
She’s the countess, what does she need to hide? She’s also meant to be with you and you’re supposed to love her no matter what. Nadia seems to be a bit of an oblivious yandere. Not aware that what she does for you is rather scary at times.
She showers you in gifts. Some of the cutest clothes just to basically play dress up with you like your some little doll. She doesn’t like it when you turn down a gift and while there’s a couple times she’ll get frustrated in the end she’ll send the gift to you late at night with a sweet not hoping you take it.
While she usually ask for your input against other’s, when it comes to someone who isn’t much use to the palace or her especially sniffing up on you she’ll usually deal with them.. whether banishing them and having them get hunted down throughout the forest like some sort of game.
She can be ruthless, and when she’s really in a bad mood it’s hard for her to listen to anyone. Don’t beg for her not to kill off someone because she most likely will act you didn’t say anything, kiss your forehead, and will proceed with the execution.
Also gets really touchy with you when her sisters are around..
Portia
Portia is usually a very carefree chick but while she can be easygoing she can be rather on guard about you.
It’s not often with you, because she doesn’t want you to know the bad things she’d do for you, but every once in a while she’ll ‘joke’ about killing for you. She’s caring and always makes sure you’re safe so you don’t question it until she actually does it when you have a suspicion that she did it..
Will cry and manipulate you into believing she’s innocent because seeing fear on your face towards her makes her scared. She was just doing what was ‘right’, of course her terminology of right is different from yours tho.. that’s why she lies about not doing it.
You’ll trust her and while you’re still a bit nervous she’ll work on that making sure to check up on you often. Once she gains your trusts back again she grows to be a lot more sneaky.
Rat poison is probably what slipped into the man’s tea after her kept messing with you but who knows?
Julian
Julian can be much like his sister but instead of growing emotional to defend himself he grows serious. It’s so different from his usually jokingly self and reminds you of the red plague times so you can’t help but apologize for accusing him.
He may not have killed Lucio but he’s definitely took a couple people out for you. Most unintentionally but still did it anyway. That guy couldn’t swim and Julian simply didn’t hear him crying for help.. it’s okay though cause you did say he had a weird vibe about him anyway, obviously Julian agreed.
He can be clingy, needy, and touchy. If you don’t know about the yandere in him you love it and you loving it just manages to feed it more. If you do know about it and you’re scared he uses his touches to try and calm you down. To have you let your guard down.
He’ll use his self hate against you for many different reasons now. While he does hate himself he found that you usually encourage him or try to make him feel better after he talks about himself too much. He’ll use it on you to stop you from running away from him because your morals are far better than his at this point and he knows you’ll stay to try and help him.
When you find out that he’s been killing people you’re terrified and even though you know you should runaway and leave.. you also can’t help but want to help him.
What if he’s actually innocent like he was with Lucio? (Definitely not.) What if the depression got so bad and he couldn’t help himself? He needed help and only you could help him.
He’ll chuckle sometimes at how cute and silly you are. With how he is he knows you won’t be going anywhere and he’s perfectly fine with that because had you did think of running away he’d just chase you down and use he’s depression against you to make you feel bad for leaving and to bring you back to him.
Lucio
The coliseum was made for a reason... Lucio likes a good fight and anyone touching you, speaking with you, or even looking at you can make him want to have one.
If it isn’t a physical fight it’s a fight with words (which he isn’t that good at but his smugness makes it pay off)
He’s a hopeless romantic type of yandere and unlike his wife he actually doesn’t recognize or acknowledge the bad sides of himself. He either doesn’t to face them or actually thinks cutting that servants throat for huffing in your presence was justified.
You honestly can’t tell but hey, you’re scared. He’s a Count though... THE Count.. if he’s your yandere it’s going to be hard to get away from him without getting hunted down. He’ll make sure to keep an eye on you. (much like Nadia)
He’ll lock down the whole palace if it means keeping you in place. If you do manage to escape he’ll be highly impressed honestly before he’s goes hunting you down. When he finds you he’ll make sure the palace is locked down a lot tighter then it has been before.
Muriel
He definitely starts out as a silent stalker type. Muriel isn’t really attracted to anyone before you and even though he is interested in you he makes you come to him.
I believe he’s actually one of the nicer yanderes but he does have his moments of being possessive.
He doesn’t want to hurt anyone unless it’s absolutely needed.. wouldn’t want to kill anyone for something silly.. of course not.
Ok! I’m at the courtiers! Now these ones might be sadder because I have a lot of headcanons for them. Mainly the horsemen and I do believe Valerius doesn’t have much story on him either so yeah.
Volta
Volta’s an absolute sweetheart. Tis is all.
Nah I’m fucking with y’all, it’s a yandere post.. anyway while Volta is a sweetheart she can’t help but be a bit possessive over you. Unlike the other courtiers her emotions come out a lot more and with her past she never thought she find someone like you.
Now that she has though it’s hard to separate the two of you..
She clings to you, cry for you when you’re gone for too long, feeds you if she’s really into you..
People don’t really see her as a threat and that’s only until she threatens to eat them.. when she gets like that people make sure to leave you be because the really aren’t sure if Volta will actually do it but with that bright playful but warning look in her eyes they don’t want to put it past her.
Vlastomil
Vlastomil kinda has that same oblivious energy in him as Lucio or Nadia however it may seem like he doesn’t know what he’s doing is wrong but he really does.
He’s a demon, he knows how to play with humans but the thing is what he does is just him trying to understand himself better. Before you he only cared about his worm and now you were here.
He pretty much treats you like he treats Wriggler.. you’re very dear to him and let anything happen to you he’ll make sure everyone around knows how he feels. Whether it’s crying, shouting or simply anxiously looking for you.
He fears with other humans you’ll either get taken from him or get hurt but them and neither one of those are things he’s ok with obviously.
He’s a tricky demon, he may trick you into believing his morals verses your own.
“I love you dear! That’s why he has to go.. you don’t want him to hurt you yes?” He’ll manage to make you believe that everything he does is for you. If you have any sort of trauma he might even use that against you so be extra careful.
Valerius
I can see Valerius being much like Muriel but worse. He likes to stalk and watch you from afar until he can figure what’s the best route to take and going about getting to you.
He’s almost relieved you come to him first. The relationship is rather.. bumpy. At times he’ll be grumpy for no reason and sometimes you can get tired of that but anytime you threaten to leave him he gets you into bed a second faster and distracts you.
I can see him either being a good or bad yandere.. there’s no in between. Either he knows exactly how to keep you to himself or he struggles doing so which only frustrates you. You can say he takes some of that frustration out on you but he tries not to because the last thing he needs in to tell Lucio you ran off and have a bunch of guards chase you down.
Oh that’s right, Lucio helps him when it comes to reeling you in and keeping you their. It’s scary but how are yo to go against the Count and his Consul?
Valerius might say some really cruel things to you to make you stay. He doesn’t want to even think about you leaving him. The second he saw you was the same second he fell for you. He might question his own emotions a lot but after a while of simply stalking or having other people stalk you and report back to him, he can tell it is you that he wants.
Vulgora
Vulgora is one of the bad ones you can get. Their aggressiveness and bluntness can be scary so when you need to escape them not many will be willing to help you. Many might even be on their side out of fear of what the war demon can do.
I feel like Vulgora is one of these two yandere types if not both.
Either the type that uses anger as a way to express themselves even if they don’t want to. Like, they care very deeply about you but they are one of the courtiers who don’t understand these emotions.. it frustrates them to not understand and it makes them angry. They try not to take that anger out on you and usually ends it with taking the life of a mortal.. or a couple considering one isn’t enough.
The other type is the yandere who can’t hold their temper and simply wants you because they can have you. It’s a possessive thing.. no one can have you but them.
They won’t hesitate in killing for you and if you ask or grow scared they would try to say they didn’t do it. They’ll be honest. What are you going to do about it.. fight them? Leave them? Oh darling they believe you’re too smart to do something stupid like either one of those..
They’ll leave their mark on you, usually biting because even if there’s very few beings with teeth like theirs in the palace everyone know the deep marks belong to someone dangerous and usually people put a distance with you.
People might be scared of you for simply being trapped and stuck with them. Poor thing..
Valdemar
Go ahead and just pass away sis, we ain’t making it away from this one..
In all honesty Valdemar might be the worse yandere out of this group. Vulgora following after as well as Lucio, Vlastomil, and maybe Julian..
Now it’s either they don’t care about your feelings at all and well make sure you know it or they care far too much to let you out of their sight. Valdemar might be persistent to test on you and might do it even if you don’t want to but also they might grow worried about your safety if they do do it.
You’re like their precious little specimen and no matter what you do they are always watching. You can’t even escape them after death because they are death. There’s simply no escape.
It’s been centuries since they’ve felt as strongly for someone as they did you and that person didn’t make it to where they are now.. they refuse to let that happen again..
If you try to run from them they’ll have beings chase you, they’ll make you run for your life and when you come crying for help they’ll cackle in your face. They want you to know you can’t live without them and once that’s drilled into your head they’ll never allow you to ever get away.
Overwatch
Okay lets try this again
Genji: Alpha, one of the motivating forces for Hanzo to duel him and as a result from the "accident" His Ability to smell and produce sents is kinda damaged. He acted very alphaish while part of blackwatch to try and make up for it but nowardays some people dont even realise he is one since hes so chill and dosent act that way anymore.
Hanzo: Omega, got a blocker soon after presenting by order of his father and kept it even after leaving for the convinience of not having heats and because his time in the yakuza basically made him belive omegas are meek and weak and people only looked at them as objects. This causes drama later on. Hanzo is basically feral when joining the team, he holds himself confidently and as if he has poise most of the time but when people try to touch him or somethibg suppr9ses him he is very jumpy and has almost attacked multiple people as a result. This agitation and aggression is partiality made worse by the implant and wouldn't get much better until its out.
Angela: Beta. Ik people normally think she'd be Omega but fr that woman is pure balence. She does get mistaken for an omega allot tho. Her possition as a Beta really helps her tending to all patients so she has no complaints.
76: Omega, had a impact for the super soldier program but once the crisis was over he had it taken out, both to be a good role model for other omegas but also because he just wanted to for him mainly but also for his bf at the time (despite the fact that his eyes still often drifted to a certain other squad leader). Nowerdays he still dosent have one but age makes his heats less frequent and his senses and scent a little dulled.
Ana: Alpha. She is extremely chill for an Alpha but chill in the "I am confident I have complete control of this situation" kind of way, usually because she does. She is known for being calm in arguments with other alphas and often winning those arguments as a result, almost none has seen her in an alpha rage but the rumours are that someone has once and they said it was the most terrifying thing they'd ever seen. Ana has been mistaken for the leader of her packs in the past and despite the fact that she basically is co-leader of evey pack she's in she always makes sure that she's not overshadowing the leader especially when they're not Alpha.
Reinheart: I kiiiinda wanna make him an omega who has litterally no idea what OBA expectations are. He's just the jollyest, largest omega you will ever meet. He does not give a shit what people think of him to the point where he won't defend himself unless someone questions his honour. This leads to people like Ana and Morrison in the past hovering around him and fighting anyone who tried harassing him.
McCree: Alpha. Used to be a brash, cocky, and kinda mean alpha before Blackwatch got a hold of him and mellowed him out through giving him a stable pack with a leader (as opposed to deadlock where basically eveyone fought over being leader). He is the most unmistakably alpha person you will ever meet however he is also one of the softest, kindest and possibly the most adorable alphas you will ever know if you get close to him. He's embaressed every time he growls by accident nowerdays.
Lucio: honestly I can't see lucio as anything other than Beta or Omega so I think probably Beta? But I think none else knows either and if anyone asks he says he'd rather people not know because he'd prefer to be judged my charecter instead of his second sex.
Hana: hasn't presented yet, had an implant bc of the mecha program she was in and hasn't had it out. She dosent really care regardless.
Mei: omega, I dont have much else to add to this, she's small and soft and probably the most typical omega of the bunch.
Zarya: Alpha, much like but in contrast to Mei she is the most typical alpha of the bunch. She has kinda old fashioned views about Alphas and Omegas but after getting her ass handed to her by Reinheart while sparring, finding out he was omega and accidentally being rude to him as a result the others realised she had such veiws and Morrison, Ana, McCree and Mei had a little sit down talk with her. She quickly learnt and when Satya joined later and was rude to an omega member of the pack she was the first to jump up and defend them
Satya: unknown, she has an inplant that has prevented her from presenting since she was a child and still has it. She carries herself like an alpha and looks down on Omegas however she looks down on eveyone so her veiw is often overlooked.
Reyes: Alpha. Pack leader, protective and angy. Nuff said.
Sombra: Beta with blockers that stop her from producing any scent for stealth. She has been a solo act for most her life and Talon with Reyes is her first ever pack so she takes time to adapt but once she does it suits her surprisingly well.
Widow: Amile was Omega. Widowmaker has no heats or scent.
Baptitse: deadass I'm not sure. Could litterally be any. Big soft alpha? Big kind omega? Lovely helpful Beta? I really don't know. I feel like I can't make all medical staff Betas tho...so...omega. He had a blocker put in when he joined Talon and those lot assumed he was Beta or Alpha since he never knew. But once he leaves and gets freedom of a sort he chooses to have it removed. He suffers a little for it but he's generally positive and not insecure about it. He dosent like to share heats with anyone tho, it's the one time he shuts himself off from everyone.
Moira: Alpha. Toxic.
Brigette: Alpha, presented a few years ago. She's like a golden retriever but smarter, if you're her friend she will do anything you ask, gets you random gifts and upgrades, carries anything for her friends no matter how heavy, but if you try to abuse her kindness you'll find she sint stupid and it takes one glare for someone to know you don't fuck with this Alpha. She may be a healer but she could absolutely destroy you if you try to fuck her or her friends over.
Torb: Alpha. Can go into a pure rage in a moment but will never use an alpha voice. He's just a cranky old man who seems to have practically forgotten he's an alpha. Was very proud of Brigette's presenting but gave her a few lectures and lessons to make sure it never went to her head.
Sigma: I barely know this cherecter, can no say
Doomfist: Alpha. Asshole. Talons top dogs and heavy hitters are mostly alphas. It's like...toxic alphaism at its finest. Doom is smart and cunning and wants to complete dominate situations he's in. He's an alpha.
Tracer: can't belive I forgot tracer until now, Omega. She was often underestimated for being a little omega in the past but this spitfire powered through everything in life with positivity and self love and she embraces evey part of herself. She sometimes flies home for heats when they're not too busy and are well staffed so she can spend time with her girlfriend.
Roadhog and Junkrat: Alpha and Omega. They're a couple. No I will not take criticism. These two are mates and do litterally whatever they want as long as they're together. In the wasteland there are no gender expectations, only explosives, violence and love.
Ashe: don't know much about her either but I wanna say omega with major alpha vibes. She is the embodiment of the phrase "power bottom" in every sence
Pharah: mmmmm Alpha. She's stubborn and strong, a real soldier, but if you compliment her muscles or challenger her she will show off.
And I think that's it! Any other ideas? Leave them in the comments!
While Lucio waits outside the basement of the Chandrian Tavern Hall, he’s approached by Khleo’s familiar, Hefe. The lioness has a few questions for the former Count…
Lucio was well aware that there were certain familiars that could communicate with people aside from the humans to which they were bonded. Still, he never thought that he would be holding a conversation with a lion in the back alleys of Center City.
Hefe, as she introduced herself, had joined Lucio on top of the pile of crates, which whined considerably as she settled on her haunches.
< You smell like Death. >
Hefe spoke the last word as if she knew the Arcana personally. Lucio took one glance at the lioness’ great paws and chose not to deny it.
“You’re right,” he said thickly. He struggled to maintain eye contact with her steady, amber gaze.
< If you mean to bring my cub any harm, you can take it elsewhere. >
Lucio’s naturally blond eyebrows lifted an inch. “Do you mean Khlee?”
She nodded slowly.
He shook his head and huffed, “Death’s ties are to me and me alone. Trust me, I’m not trying to drag anyone else into it. What I have to go back to…” he thought about the dank cellar of the Lazaret and its shelves full of outdated medical instruments. He thought of pale green skin and carefully mummified horns. Lucio turned his head and shuddered. “I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.”
Hefe was silent for a moment before a purr trilled low in her throat.
< Good. >
When Lucio looked back up, the familiar was gone.
Commotion trickled in from the other side of the door. Lucio could hear members filling up what sounded like a spacious area. Greetings rang out. Equipment was dragged off of shelves and out of boxes. Whatever this club meeting was about, it sounded like there was something physical going on.
The former count waited a few more minutes before taking a deep breath, standing up, and letting himself inside.
About two dozen people were crowded around some kind of pit. The pair locked in were definitely fighting. Lucio could see over most of the heads taking up the space. He picked up on the challengers’ bare feet and how they sparred bare-knuckled. Except, they weren’t sparring. The blows were connecting. Solidly. Intentionally.
Lucio’s game was swordplay, but he had some training in hand to hand combat. He used what he could remember to try to pinpoint the style. The closest he could figure was kick-boxing, but that didn’t seem quite right. The punches looked too strange for that — too curvy. And the blocks were absorbed more by the elbows. When the opponents were locked, grasping for the back of each other’s head, no one broke it up. The lively spectators only watched while the challengers tried to climb up each other, knees first like excited apes.
“Monty. You came.”
The new presence at his elbow startled Lucio. Just like their cat, Khlee had managed to easily sneak up on him. Lucio noticed that her suspenders swung below her waist and her shirt was unbuttoned a lot lower than would be appropriate for serving customers. They didn’t seem to care.
Khlee gestured to the energetic knot of people.
“What do you think?”
Lucio glanced back at the fight and grimaced. “Is no one going to break them up?”
Khlee smiled. “Doesn’t work like that. They’re looking for the clinch. Makes it easier to lay in some knees to the more vulnerable part of the body.”
Lucio grunted like he knew what the hell they were talking about.
“And they’re okay with getting so… bloody?”
The barhand nodded. “They look forward to that too.” They looked up at Lucio and hooked their thumb over their shoulder. “Come over here and I’ll show you the basics.”
The fights went on in the background while Khlee led Lucio to a quieter spot closer to the minibar. Finally working up the courage to comment about them, Lucio waved at Khleo’s arms.
“I bet fights are over for you pretty quickly.”
Her eyes widened a bit before she realized his meaning. “I mean, sure, I throw punches, but there’s more to it than that. Speaking of arms.” She explained that he would only be allowed to block with his gauntleted arm in order to minimize injury. After that was established, she started to show him how to properly stand and defend himself.
Lucio never even agreed to fighting in the first place, but this barhand seemed to know what she was doing when it came to instruction. Sport and the physical challenge that came with it was always something that resonated with Lucio no matter the playing field. And it had been ages since he learned something new. So he swallowed his doubt for the time being and absorbed Khlee’s crash course in this unorthodox style of combat.
The way of eight limbs, she called it.
Lucio learned that the “clinch” Khlee spoke of earlier referred to the series of standing grappling techniques that he witnessed when he first walked in. Despite how important this was to combat, Lucio made it very clear that he did not want to get caught in one of those. Especially not against someone smaller and scrappier than him like Khleo, whose shorter limbs and concentrated muscle gave her all the advantage in this sport.
“What? Afraid your skin will bruise too easy?” Khlee teased right after she was done showing Lucio all the ways he could disengage himself from a sudden grapple.
Lucio, who had discarded his top layers a while ago, gently caged his alchemical arm over his abdomen and said, “Uh duh. Besides, I just ate. Forgive me if I’m not looking forward to losing my dinner all over my opponent.” Then he blushed and added sheepishly. “Thank you, by the way. For dinner.”
“Focus,” Khlee reminded him as they squared his hips and elevated his arms. They spent the next few minutes guiding him in strikes, many of which were concentrated not so much in the fists or feet, but in the elbows, knees, and shins.
“Can I be honest?” Lucio spoke up after forgetting to engage his hips on the last kick.
“Go ahead,” Khlee huffed right before punishing Lucio for his mistake with the proper form. Her shin met his ribs in a clean, controlled strike. Lucio knew that she was holding back, but he grunted all the same.
“I don’t like having to adjust to this style at all,” he whined. “Can’t I just fight the way I know how? Because really, this,” he exaggerated his hip movement and popped up his knees like he was bouncing a ball on them, “is all really stupid if you think about –”
Lucio felt his mouth pool with something gooey and hot before he tasted the iron. He doubled over shortly after his ribs started screaming at him.
“Oh. Look at that,” Khlee noted, “you just took a stupid elbow to the face and a stupid knee to the gut.”
Lucio waited before turning his head and spitting a wad of blood off to the side. “You almost made me lose a fucking tooth.”
Khlee came over and clapped him on the back. “If I wanted to do that, I would have. Now, Monty. Are you done insulting my way of fighting or is there something else you want to add?” They smirked at him in a way that appeared good natured and unoffended despite their sudden outburst of violence.
Before Lucio could answer, a handful of voices called both of their attentions towards the ring in the middle of the room.
“Khleo! Bring his green ass over here!”
“Yeah. You’ve had him long enough. We’re itching to break him in!”
The very last thing Lucio wanted was to get broken in by the scrappy-looking bunch that beckoned him over. But he also didn’t want to appear spineless in front of all of these people, so he didn’t protest as Khlee guided him to the center of the ring.
Lucio found comfort in her heavy hand resting on his shoulder as she looked out at her club members and recited a few rules. The first two were the same. Don’t talk about the damn club. A few members chuckled at that. Khlee reminded them that if someone tried to tap out, said “stop” or went limp, that meant that the fight was over. Lucio was relieved to see the members take this one more seriously. They all nodded in grave understanding.
To Lucio’s disgust, one of the rules was no shirt, no shoes. Biting back his groan, he removed his boots and handed them off to one of the members on the sidelines.
“And finally, rule number eight.” Khlee gave Lucio’s shoulder a squeeze. “My friend Monty here, it’s his first night, which means,” she dropped her hand and backed up into the throng, smiling broadly, “he has to fight.”
Many were eager to take Lucio on, but since it was his first time, he got to decide which of the volunteers he would go against. In the end, he went with someone of his similar height and build. He didn’t want the smaller fighters using their advantage against him. He only hoped that his challenger lacked about as much flexibility as he did.
After they assumed their stances and touched knuckles, the challenger said something Lucio didn’t expect.
“I want you to hit me as hard as you can.”
Lucio hesitated, but only for a moment. Then he swung quietly, but with all his might.
The rest of the fight was a bit of a blur.
Lucio forgot everything that he learned. One minute he was blocking with his elbows and keeping his opponent at a distance with well timed foot jabs and the next, his arms were flailing and he was losing all balance.
The bystanders acted as the ropes to a real boxing ring. Whenever he staggered, they pushed him back into the fight. He ate a lot of blows. Some hands. A few elbows. His head was spinning and his blood was on fire.
Sound warbled in and out of his ears like he was underwater. His eyesight was lost to the sweat. His blood ran down his neck, his chest, and made the floor slippery. Both he and his opponent lost their footing and came down hard. Then they laughed together.
Lucio knew he couldn’t fight blind on unsteady legs, so he asked them to stop. They did and many hands came to help Lucio onto his feet. He was given towels, water, and a kiss on the forehead, no doubt by his challenger.
Since Lucio’s was the last fight of the night, the crowd retired around the broken picnic table by the wall. Khleo served them up a round of bread and ale so flat and diluted, it was practically water. But no one complained.
Lucio didn’t have much to say amidst the group of companions, but they made him feel at home. A few of them asked about his arm and showed off their own prosthetics to compare.
Later, after everyone had gone, Lucio left the table covered in empty beer glasses and joined Khlee at the minibar.
“You in the mood for a real drink?” She asked, already pouring something amber and smoky into a crystal tumbler.
Lucio sighed. “Usually, I would, but I think my blood has had enough excitement for one evening.”
Khlee added a couple of ice cubes and chuckled, “No such thing.”
While she took her first sips, Lucio tested his swollen cheek with the blunted fingers of his alchemical hand.
“At first I couldn’t really understand why you all would fight hard enough to draw blood. If it was for some money or a prize, it would have made more sense to me, but…”
“But you realized that we’re all just perverted little piggies looking for punishment.” Khlee rested her empty glass on the wood.
Lucio laughed. “Yeah. That.” He shook his head. “But then I got in there and I get it now.” Listening to the patrons talk, he caught on to what they did for a living. They were the chamberlains, the couriers, the nurses, the gondoliers, the construction and sewer workers. Khlee’s club was full of the people who pulled the most weight to keep this city afloat. They were the ones who needed to let off the most steam from what Lucio could tell.
“So, Montag…” Khlee said, breaking Lucio from his line of thoughts, “Did your mother give you that name?”
Lucio raised an eyebrow.
Khlee added, “I was just thinking, why Montag? Wouldn’t it make more sense to name you Donnerstag – Thursday, after the god of thunder?”
Lucio scoffed, “Why would that make more sense?”
She started buttoning up her shirt. “Well because, you know. No offense, but everybody hates mondays.”
“Is this your strategy to keep your patrons coming back?” Lucio snapped. “By hacking their birth names to pieces?”
The barhand didn’t appear ruffled by the other’s outburst. “Just trying to make a little conversation.”
Lucio leaned back some. “Alright, then. What about your name? Von Heine. I know that village. The Heine.” It was a little hamlet nestled on the edges of the Scourgelands. Lucio’s people and Khlee’s shared the same language, but different histories. “It’s where you all dress like snaggle-tooth toddlers and spend every waking hour grinding wheat and growing yeast for your bread or your booze.”
The barhand rested her forearms on the bar, leaned on them and smiled. “Based on the stories Papa told me, that sounds about right.”
The distant look in her expression made Lucio soften his voice. “You don’t remember?”
She waved at nothing. “I’ve never been to the Heine. Only heard stories growing up. My folks found me in the coliseum when I was just a kid. They raised me.” There was some silence.
Khleo cleared her throat and straightened up a little. “As for the tracht,” She looped her suspenders back on and gave them a light snap. “You can blame the owner. He wanted the tavern to appeal to tourists. So while I might look like a toddler, remember that I can still kick your ass, Monty.”
Lucio snickered. “Noted.”
Still grinning, Khleo asked, “You got yourself a place to sleep tonight?”
Lucio looked elsewhere. “Uh. Not this time.”
Khleo pointed at the fireplace. “I know it doesn’t look like much from here, but it’s pretty cozy in the hearth. And Hefe can keep you warm.”
Lucio briefly considered the idea of sleeping in an empty fireplace with someone else’s lion for a blanket. It wouldn’t be the strangest thing that had happened to him in one evening. Once upon a time, the thought of going to sleep somewhere like that would make his skin crawl. But like many things that had seen that day, he experienced it through a new lens. He trusted Khleo.
Besides, he really, really didn’t want to sleep out in the cold street.
“Thank you.”
Before Khleo could respond, their privacy was broken by the sound of a door opening.
“Shit.”
Quick and without making any noise, Khleo hoisted herself over the minibar and dragged Lucio off of the stool. She pressed a finger to his lips when he tried to protest. One look at her dark expression told him now was not the time to argue. Lucio tried to keep his steps soft as Khleo guided him to the hearth. She gently bent him over and pushed him inside, tugging the curtains closed behind him.
Hefe growled dimly as Lucio tumbled over her. There was some awkward movement as the lioness made room for him. By the time Lucio was semi-comfortable, he tuned in to the heated conversation that already started in the basement.
“Overheard one of your idiot friends on their way out. You don’t charge admission?” The mature voice must have belonged to the person descending the stairs.
There was no answer from Khleo at first. Then she murmured almost too low for Lucio to hear, “No, but they’re welcome to leave donations.”
Lucio listened to heavy footfalls making their way to the broken picnic table.
“And you’re giving away our food?”
In a voice that suggested this wasn’t the first time they had this argument, Khleo finally spoke up.
“You never said I had to charge for entry into the club. You only said I had to pay rent, which I do. I’m never late. And that’s just bread left over from today. We can’t sell it tomorrow. I don’t see the problem if we have to throw it out anyway.”
Something pounded once on the wood, rattling the glass mugs.
“This is a place of business, Khlee. Not a gods-fucking food bank!”
“Are you done?”
“Am I…” The wood creaked. “Am I what now?”
Khleo sighed. “Nothing, Otto. We’re good. I’ll start charging for the damn bread.”
The silence that followed was tense, uncertain. Lucio longed to see what kind of looks were being exchanged between them, but he wouldn’t dare move aside the curtain. Hefe seemed to sense it too because she kept her head leveled a few inches off the ground and her ears at alert angles.
“Oh no, I think you forgot something. You definitely forgot who the fuck you’re talking to.”
Crash.
“Didn’t you?”
Crash.
It took a moment for Lucio to register the sound of glasses being flung and breaking against the minibar as well as the wall behind it.
The barhand’s voice had lost its cool indifference.
“Otto, come on. Don’t. I’ll pay for it, okay? Just put it on with the rent. You don’t have to–”
CRASH.
“Wait!”
CRASH.
Hefe lowered her ears, but she didn’t move. Lucio pressed his back against the brick in an effort to steady himself and quiet his breaths.
“Stop! Stop! Why are you doing this? I’m sorry, okay? Uncle – hold on!”
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
Lucio leaned forward, but Hefe used her shoulder to shove him back.
< No. >
“Onkel, bitte.” Khleo’s voice came from somewhere low. Like she was squatting on the floor. “Tut mir Leid… . Es tut mir Leid. It won’t happen again. I promise....” She inhaled a ragged breath and whimpered as if in pain.
The man’s breath came out a little labored from all the effort. “You said you take donations?”
“… Ja.”
“Where?”
Khleo sniffled. “Unter da.”
Glass crunched and broke underfoot as the man went about his search. Eventually, he gave a contented sigh. “That should cover all this mess and the bread. Now... clean this shit up.”
More glass popped under his weight as he headed towards the stairs. The sniffles died down a few minutes after he left. Lucio sat frozen, unsure how he should proceed.
Finally, there was movement and Khleo’s voice came out dark and choked.
“Hefe… just do it.”
Khleo’s voice and the sound of Hefe’s hypnotic purr was the last thing Lucio remembered before losing himself to total darkness.
Basil seethed in silence while he listened to his boss get on Samira’s case yet again. This time it was about her uniform.
“Mr. Otto, I told you, the ones you gave me when I started working don’t fit me anymore.”
Otto snorted. “I missed the part where that’s my problem. Those uniforms don’t grow on trees, girl.”
The afternoon shift had just ended, so they were all tired, but still had their stations to clean. Khleo was taking her break from deliveries under a quilt in one of the empty booths. Gabe had started his delivery shift a few minutes ago. The bar was empty except for Samira, Basil and of course, their boss. Currently, he was enjoying his afternoon snack in front of his employees.
Samira shook her head and surrendered her hands. “I didn’t even know the uniforms were mandatory. Basil and Gabe never wear theirs.”
Otto swallowed a spoonful of oatmeal. “Last time I checked, you weren’t Basil or Gabe.”
Samira’s glasses started to get misty the longer she looked at her employer. She waved at Basil without looking away from Otto. “But if the uniforms are mandatory, why don’t you ever say anything to them?”
Without missing a beat, Otto punctated the air with his spoon as he explained. “They’ve put in their time here, while you… Lass, you haven’t been here but a minute.”
“Mr. Otto, I’m sorry, but this is not fair.”
It’s more than unfair, Basil wanted to add, but he bit back his tongue. He shot a glance over at Khleo’s sleeping lump, wondering if they could hear this right now.
“Fair.” Otto dragged out the word. “What about if I cut my losses with you and hire a new barmaid?” He studied his bowl as he scraped the oats off the edges in a way that set Basil’s teeth on edge. “All you do is look pretty at the front of the house. Anyone can do that, Miss Kaba.”
Samira’s garnet eyes went wide and then narrowed suddenly. Her lip trembled. “That is not all that I do.”
Finally, Otto looked up and sighed. “I don’t have time for the tears today, Samira. Here’s the key for the costumes in storage. You and Khlee are dancing tonight. Now, the waistlines on those dresses are all adjustable, so I don’t want to hear anymore excuses about your fitting issue. Understand?”
Samira looked like she had something else she wanted to say. Instead, she blinked rapidly as she took the keys from Otto and practically broke out into a run.
As soon as she was out of earshot, Basil let Otto have it. “Did you really have to give her the whole ‘you’re replaceable’ speech?”
Otto narrowed his eyes at the barhand. “I pay you to make drinks, Jebeles. Know your place.”
Basil replied, “You’re always going on about how the barmaids bring in the most customers, yet none of ours stay for more than a few months. Think you should lighten up some? Just maybe?”
Otto rolled his eyes. “If the lass doesn’t have the backbone to work here, then she should find herself another bar.” Then he grunted as he stood up and wandered over to the booth where Khleo was resting.
Otto used his foot to jostle Khleo awake. She poked her curly head out from under the quilt and scowled in her usual way.
“You’re dancing tonight,” He said without a hello. “Go get dressed.”
Basil expected Khleo to give at least a little pushback. She wasn’t a fan of wearing the dirndl unless it was for the annual beer festivals. Otherwise, she chose to perform without it. But to Basil’s surprise, Khleo set her jaw and didn’t meet Otto’s eyes as she climbed out of the booth. She rolled up her quilt, tucked it under her arm, and wordlessly headed towards the basement. After she left, Otto floated back to the bar, smiling smugly to no one in particular.
Basil wasn’t sure what he just saw, but he didn’t like it.
***
The costume chest was already opened by the time Khleo got there. She changed mostly in the dark until it was time to lace up the bodice of the dress.
Figuring Samira couldn’t be far off, she left the costumes and wandered further through the storage space.
“Mir,” Khleo called out, her voice still raspy from sleep. “Can you help me with this? You know I always forget how to…”
Khleo found her coworker off in some corner, sitting on a prop used for talent shows. She was hunched over a bit, her arms resting palms up against her thighs, almost as if she was waiting for something to fall into them.
Samira looked like she had gotten halfway with putting on her dirndl when she had given up. Even in the low light, Khleo could detect the wet shine clinging to her cheeks.
“Sorry, Khleo. I was on my way to help you, but I... kind of lost track of time.”
The sound of water rising up her throat drew Khleo closer. It wasn’t the first time they had shared a room during costume changes, so neither had much of a reaction to Samira’s state of undress. As Khleo came closer, her eyes wandered past the barhand’s bra and down to where her stomach interrupted the costume.
“Don’t laugh, but I can’t get it over my tummy.” Samira snorted, almost like it was a joke.
Khleo reached out her hand and arched a curious brow.
Samira sniffed. “It’s okay.”
The barhand took a deep breath before grazing the skin over Samira’s navel with her fingertips. She felt a flicker at first. When she pressed her entire palm against the warm bump, she felt something more.
< Ask her how long it’s been. >
“Six and half months, I think.” Samira answered when Khleo voiced Hefe’s question aloud.
Khleo withdrew her hand. “You think? You haven’t seen a doctor yet?”
Samira closed her eyes and sighed. “No, but… I haven’t had the money or the time. Have you seen where I work?” Then she opened them and glared a little at Khleo. “Plus, I’m not an idiot. I haven’t had a drink or a cigarette since I first suspected. I can take care of myself.”
“You need to see a doctor, Mir.” Khleo was pacing now. “The father?”
Samira’s face twisted as she mumbled something dark and negating.
Khleo stopped. “Right,” she sighed. There were so many other questions she wanted to ask. But when she looked at Samira, who seemed like she was already regretting trusting someone else with this information, Khleo inhaled again and approached her friend.
“What do you want to do next? If you could?”
Samira blinked, gratitude and relief filling her eyes at the question Khleo had settled on.
“I have a half sister in Nevivon. She would take me in, but she’s got kids too and she works. If I could just get to her.”
Khleo grunted in understanding. Trips across the sea were not cheap. And Samira couldn’t just stop paying rent.
While Khleo was still thinking, Samira curled on herself and whispered, “I was trying to take more shifts so I could get out of here as fast as I could, but Otto… he’s going to find out, Khlee. He’s going to figure this out and then he’s going to fire me. I know he is.”
“No he’s not,” Khleo replied calmly as she unhooked her keys from one of her inner pockets. She held out the one to her apartment. “Here. My place is in the Flooded District. Hefe will help you. Go there and wait for me.”
Samira sat up a little straighter. “What? I can’t just leave. My shift is nowhere near over.”
Khleo took Samira’s hand and pressed the key in her palm. “Don’t worry about that. Just trust me. I can explain everything tonight.”
To Khleo’s relief, Samira relaxed her hand around the key. She hesitated once more before sighing and nodding. “Okay. Let me help you tie up your dress and then I’ll go.”
As soon as Samira and Hefe were out the back door, Khleo put the next few hours out of her mind. She entered a sort of trance as she walked up the stairs and made up an excuse for Samira’s absence. Otto wasn’t happy about it, but that wouldn’t even matter after tonight.
Khleo put on a smile, danced, served, and entertained the patrons. Whenever Basil tried to get her alone and ask his questions, she dodged him with the grace of a feyling determined to remain elusive.
Otto, thankfully, went home early and left his barhands with the responsibility of closing up. Khleo pulled some favors and managed to free herself soon after her boss left. She skipped changing out of her dress and just jogged briskly through the lanterned avenues until she made it to her apartment.
When she came inside, she found Samira asleep on the couch. Hefe lay on the floor, guarding the space. Khleo avoided her familiar’s gaze as she quietly walked past the couch and down the hall. When she entered her room, she closed the door behind her and shut her eyes.
There wasn’t time to think about what she was going to do. If she gave herself even a moment, she feared she would lose her nerve.
Moments later, Khleo was back in the common room, gently helping Samira onto her feet.
“Khleo?”
Khleo hugged her. “I’m sorry it took me so long. Here.”
Samira blinked a few times and put on her glasses before accepting the glass jar that Khleo offered her. She briefly took note of the contents before asking, “What’s this?”
Khleo cleared her throat. “It’s enough to get you to Nevivon and set up with a doctor until you have the baby.”
Samira turned the jar over in her hands. “What, you just had this lying around? What was it for?”
“Please.” Khleo couldn’t look at the jar, so she locked eyes with Samira instead. “Please, Mir, just take it. Take it and go.”
Whatever Samira wanted to say, she held onto it. Then she opened her arms and held onto Khleo.
“Thank you, Khlee. I was so afraid that… just. Thank you.”
Khleo was out of words. She hugged Samira back, staring wide-eyed at the walls of peeling paint in her apartment as she nodded in understanding.
After Samira had left, Khleo noticed that Hefe had disappeared too. She had no desire to look for her. Instead, Khleo drifted back into her bedroom and came before her antique dresser like it was some kind of altar.
Soon she was on her knees, bowed before the very last drawer, where she kept the dreams of her father, her mother, and her own.
Khleo seldom opened the drawer. She knew that if she wanted to take out and admire her dreams, she would have put them back and close them inside the wood. Tonight she looked down at her dreams and they looked back at her.
A tight moan escaped the barhand as she dragged her palm up her face and dug her nails into her hairline. With her other hand, she tried to close the drawer. Like always, it was stubborn and would not bend to her.
And so Khleo fought with the drawer until it gave in. She shut up her dreams so she wouldn’t have to look at them anymore. Tears and sobs consumed her until there was nothing left but thoughts. The low and bitter kind.
This Is How We Say Goodbye (Song To The Open Road) | Asra x Milenko
Tumblr media
☽ THIS IS HOW WE SAY GOODBYE (SONG TO THE OPEN ROAD) ☽
1.9k words. Written for Asra Week, day 6: Promise. In which the Plague ravages Vesuvia, there’s an argument and Asra and Milenko part ways.
You can catch up with Milasra’s pre-game canon, ‘Like Thirst Holds Water’, here.
When Anatole and Milenko got involved, Asra and Amparo were already fighting.
Their relationship had always been peculiar. More than friends, they were sometimes mirrors, matchstick and friction, cause and reaction. While Milenko was the one Asra had fallen in love with, and Anatole the one who he rode and died for, Amparo tended to spring Asra into motion. Both of them did things in almost identical ways — Asra’s sun sign was Amparo’s moon sign, her rising sign, his moon. As such, they gave the idea of instant compenetration, of unspoken frequencies vibrating in the same way.
Amparo, the animancer, the actress, the dancer, the impersonator imbued in Asra something the others could not quite describe. That was Amparo’s charm, after all, that pizzaz that made her no one other than La Cassano.
In that way, they shouldn’t have been surprised they would butt heads this way. They shouldn’t have been surprised that nothing could deescalate the fight either. Everyone was tired, everyone was grieving. The City was ridden with the Plague, there were no answers and no solutions offered, and for the first time in the almost 20 years Lucio had ruled the inevitable had happened: the Council of Vesuvia wasn’t enough, and now it was too late for them to remove Lucio from power by declaring him unfit to rule. The mechanisms would not work, the tissue of the Court was almost entirely destroyed, and the people were ill and needed food, clean water and doctors.
Their families had decided to all ride this out together in the Palazzo, with the proper health regulations that they could adopt. The building could house them all without problem but more importantly, it would mean they would be together. Many things were said about them, like how nothing mortal could kill them, based on an old, old story of how the Consul’s office had become theirs. It was no less true that the Radošević-Cassano did not survive alone.
So they grouped, they went back home, and with their location inside the walls of the infamous Palazzo Cassano, they took in their closest friends. Their families had begun as friends, marrying between each other was recent, and only a kink of some very specific sets of family members. To them, family wasn’t blood, family was a choice.
They had asked Asra to move in with them, and with that, to relocate Muriel, no one had to know he was in the Palazzo with them, specially not the Count. Asra, however, wanted to leave, and he wanted to convince Amparo, Anatole and Milenko to go with him, so they all would take their stuff and go, and abandon Vesuvia — a City that had never done anything for any of them. There was no point in dying in it, let alone for it.
Naturally, the proposal turned into an argument. Amparo especially would not leave her mother and parent, Amparo would not leave Anzano, their grandparent, as she knew they would not leave Vesuvia. Anzano was old, very old, but still fit for travel; however, they had once been the High Priest of the Sun and had trained the new one, just like their spouse Atilia Cassano, had been the High Priest of the Moon. They wouldn’t leave a City they felt a sense of responsibility towards, and Amparo herself would not desert her family when they needed her.
Milenko had a similar idea. He couldn’t leave. He couldn’t leave when he could help, he couldn’t leave when his mothers would not go, when his grandfather would not go, when his cousins would not go. Unlike Amparo he had no will to argue with Asra, instead, with the help of Anatole they tried to calm it down, so Asra could see where they were coming from, and they could try and answer Asra’s concerns.
It didn’t work. Everyone was strung, stressed and grieving, so it was a matter of time before one of them said the wrong thing, at the wrong time, with whoever the comment had been directed at not wanting to be understanding about it. It was a matter of time before they were all arguing in the ground floor of the Moonstone and Jasmine, all of Asra’s things packed up as he said he was not staying to die in a City like Vesuvia and how anyone with half a mind would do the same.
Milenko saw the point of no return happen in slow motion: Asra’s words collided with nothing other than the behemoth that was the Cassano’s sense of pride. Whatever they had begun, it could not be stopped now.
A lot of accusations flew around. Amparo tried to tell Asra that he couldn’t just expect her to leave the City she had always lived in, the City that she hoped to die in at old age. Asra told her what did she know about losing homes, she who had been born in the Heart District with a silver spoon on her mouth, who had never had to struggle because she always had a roof above her head. Funnily enough, Amparo’s patience ran out when he told her that she couldn’t even cook for herself.
“Do whatever you want. I’m not leaving. If that’s all you think of me, then forget we were ever friends Asra.”
She disappeared into the upstairs of the shop, into its main living quarters.
“Asra, that’s not fair,” Milenko said. His tone was critical, but he still tried to stay as calm as possible. Maybe if Asra could see that he really would be safe—
Then Anatole spoke, his anger raw, yet cold and precise, like a well practiced fencing blow: “What the fuck is wrong with you. If we were a bunch of superior assholes who did everything for our own benefit—”
Asra snapped. “No, but you sure think you’ll save Vesuvia from Lucio just from existing, as if anyone in this city would ever care if you lived or died, Anatole. That’s what you do, don’t you? Pretend like you can fix his mistakes while everyone else suffers from them.”
The silence that fell between the three of them was abrupt, soon ringing in their ears, but when Asra tried to apologise, noticing he had said the wrong thing, it was too late.
Anatole looked like he had been slapped.
“Toly?” Milenko asked, moving closer to his cousin to squeeze his shoulder, wanting to make sure he was okay. Asra’s words had hit one of Anatole’s greatest fears: that no matter how hard he tried, it’d never be enough.
Before he could reach Anatole, his cousin’s face changed. As his features shifted with anger, Anatole spoke again.
Now he was truly and really angry. “You meant that.”
The issue with words was you couldn’t take them back once you said them. All you could do is hope the other person would forgive you and understand if you had misspoken. As Milenko was once again caught between Asra and Anatole arguing, he realised this was one thing Anatole might never forgive. He doubted it was his place to say, yet Milenko didn’t know if he could even advocate for Anatole forgiving Asra’s words, with time.
The issue wasn’t about who was right or wrong. There was no right or wrong, there was no miraculous answer in this unsalvageable situation. It was that Asra had meant it. Part of Anatole’s language magic was this: he was able to read feelings and intentions in spoken words. As a language manipulator, he could tell everything which people (intentionally or otherwise) imbued into words when they spoke, even if he couldn’t tell the why or the how.
Would he be able to carry on if he could feel that after years of showing honesty and vulnerability because you want the other person to know you, this was what they thought at their worst?
The argument didn’t last much longer. Anatole, not wanting to speak, went upstairs to check on Amparo, while Milenko and Asra stood alone on the ground floor of the shop.
The magician began taking his things, preparing himself to leave for real. Milenko followed him, standing outside of the backdoor as he looked at Asra adjusting his travelling coat. Amparo has gotten it for him. It was handmade, Amparo’s gift to Asra two birthdays ago.
“Aren’t you going to say farewell?”
Asra startled, not expecting Milenko standing there. “I thought there was nothing else to say.”
Once again they stood in silence. It felt like forever, even if it was probably just a couple of seconds. They were aware of every moment they lost to silence, looking at each other under the Vesuvian sunset. They felt far away, miles away.
It hurt to realise, more than Milenko was willing to admit, but Anatole had been right: he still remembered when they were arguing about Asra not asking for help about Muriel. They could be as open as they wanted with Asra, but Asra would never step in time with them, even if he wanted to.
Who better than Milenko to know this, and to know that sometimes, it was through no fault of his own.
Asra spoke first. “You think I’m making the wrong choice.”
Milenko pressed his lips together. “I don’t think there’s a right choice. There’s just the best we can do with the options we’re given.”
“You don’t think I could do better with mine?”
“I don’t know, beloved, could you?”
“Don’t— don’t call me that.”
“I’m sorry. Force of habit.”
“I forgive you,” Asra said, shifting his weight between his feet. He wanted to say something else, yet he said nothing.
“Asra. I’m not judging you. I already told you I am no one to judge.”
“How can you say that to me at a time like this?”
“What? It’s the truth. I don’t like that you’re leaving and I would never make the choices you are making, and I could give you a piece of my mind and point fingers at you. I am angry, I’m hurt, but nothing I accuse you of will make me feel better. Judging you will not make me feel better, so I won’t. I’ve never done.”
“Sometimes,” Asra said, dislodging his travel bag from his shoulder, “sometimes I wish you did. It would make leaving easier.”
To Milenko’s surprise, Asra crossed the distance between them. Milenko didn’t stop his hand from cupping Asra’s cheek. Asra leaned against it, even if he wished he hadn’t. Asra closed his eyes, tears coming through his closed eyelids.
“You know I won’t ask you to stay,” Milenko said, getting teary himself.
“Just like I know I won’t get you to leave.”
“Just promise me you’ll think about it, Asra. Promise me that at the very least, you’ll try to take good care of yourself.”
Asra opened his eyes, his vision blurred because of the tears. He wiped his eyes with his sleeve, letting Faust slither into his arm to stretch herself all the way to say goodbye to Milenko.
Her tongue flicked against his nose, making Asra smile.
“Promise me you’ll take care of yourself too, please.”
Milenko nodded, Asra saying his farewells before turning around and walking away as fast as he could without breaking into a run. Milenko watched him go, until Ursula, his familiar, nudged him inside.
“May Allah keep you safe, Habibi,” he said to the empty street before closing the door behind him.
Right, so. Imagine MC form the arcana having a weird familiar. And by weird I mean not like extravagant or 'exotic'-like say, a peacock-but I mean like-Oh, you wanna met my familiar? Come here girl!-And a fucking giraffe neck just bursts through the window. Can you imagine how the love interests would react to that lol
I genuinely adore this request so much THANK YOU. I ended up doing a giraffe for all these headcanons, so I hope that’s alright😅Also, I decided to name our lovely giraffe Kiko☺️
Warnings: none!
-Asra Alzanar-
Asra has seen some weird stuff before, but meeting Kiko for the first time threw him for a bit of a loop. Even if she was much smaller at the time, he was both surprised and delighted at the sight of her
Kiko and Faust get along wonderfully. Faust will sometimes slither up her neck so she can have a higher view of things and they secretly plot ways to set their masters up oops
Asra thinks it’s adorable how you so casually ride around on Kiko and the two of you get along so well in general
His heart did backflips the one time you made flower crowns for him and both your familiars because that was so cute and p u r e
There’s a small courtyard behind the magic shop that Kiko stays in, and it’s common for her to put her head through the window to say hello
He’s endlessly amused by Kiko’s habit of poking her head through windows, especially when she sneaks up on you and you let out a surprised squeak
In more open areas than the city, you two ride Kiko to get around faster, and Asra usually steals a few kisses from you while his arms wrapped around you
When he can’t be with you he’s glad that you have Kiko to take care of you because he knows just how much she cares about you. He’s not surprised, honestly. Anyone who knows you well can’t resist the urge to protect your safety and happiness at all costs
Your protection squad now consists of a magician, snake, and giraffe, I think you’re pretty set they were all extra protective during your recovery from being revived
Asra becomes a master at sneaking in quick kisses before Kiko can notice and butt her head in to protect your innocence she knows what he’s up to
-Nadia Satrinava-
You were very nervous showing Kiko to Nadia for the first time
You hadn’t been at the palace for a full hour before you found yourself having to awkwardly explain why you really needed a room facing the gardens
She asked why and you answered by wandering over to the nearest window, whistling, and pointing to the giraffe that was now sticking its head in the window
“I see. Yes, magician, we’ll move your room.”
Nadia slowly came to like Kiko
I mean it was hard for Nadia to dislike Kiko when you looked so happy playing with her!
Let’s just say Nadia spent more time than she would like to admit watching you laugh and be a dork with Kiko in the gardens
The first time she saw you ride Kiko she was a little worried for your safety because you didn’t even have a saddle, but she quickly remembered that Kiko wouldn’t hurt a hair on your precious head and relaxed
Good luck trying to convince Nadia to ride Kiko, that’ll take awhile
Nadia always gets a soft smile seeing Kiko poking her head through the window because there’s something soft and playful about her that reminds Nadia of you
Chandra and Kiko became fast friends as you and Nadia became closer
Yes, they definitely did something to set you two up
Nadia will make whatever necessary accommodations you and Kiko need to be comfortable because you’re both so sad when you’re apart and she can’t handle your puppy dog eyes for too long
-Julian Devorak-
?!?!?!!?
That sums his reaction up pretty well
You had been trying to give Julian a proper warning about your strange familiar as the two of you walked through the gardens to visit Kiko
You were only halfway through your warning when Julian stumbled into the clearing where Kiko was and was greeted by an extremely curious giraffe trying to examine him he jumped far more than he’d like to admit
Once everyone was calmed down, Julian was marveling over Kiko because even with all his travels, he’d never seen a giraffe in person
He was definitely asking a billion questions because he was baffled by how a giraffe ended up in Vesuvia
He was smiling like a dork when Kiko nuzzled him, her way of saying she “approved” of your new boyfriend
When you offered to take Julian for a ride on Kiko he was 100% down for it. He was a little nervous at first and clung to you for dear life but it only took him a few moments to find his rhythm and have fun
At first Malak was jealous of all the attention Kiko was getting, but the two of them became friends eventually
Always amused by Kiko butting her head into windows to say hello to you because she can’t bear to go a few minutes with you boy can he relate
He has the dorkiest smile ever watching you and Kiko play together because he just loves seeing you so happy and relaxed
Julian has a plethora of nicknames for Kiko, some sweet and some hilarious but she doesn’t seem to mind
-Muriel-
Muriel loves animals, and even though he was surprised at first, he and Kiko quickly warmed up to one another
The fact that you managed to get a giraffe as your familiar made Muriel trust you 10x more because they aren’t usually trusting creatures. Anyone with a giraffe familiar must be a pretty good person
Muriel had the softest smile on his face when Kiko started warming up to him, it was precious seeing the way his eyes lit up when she craned her neck down to playfully nudge his head
He finds it very endearing the way you and Kiko so easily trust one another, and the way your face just lights up when she nuzzles your shoulder or playfully nudges your head makes him feel all soft
His heart did very funny things this one time he saw you, Kiko, and Innana all curled up by the fire sleeping together because that was c u t e
He just draped a blanket over the three of you because he didn’t want to disturb that moment
When you ride Kiko, Muriel will sometimes boost you up to make things easier, and he’s always very careful so he doesn’t hurt either of you
And please just let him help you and up down because you trying to jump onto or off of Kiko makes him nervous
He’s not a big fan of all the attention Kiko tends to bring in crowds, but seeing the two of you so happy together makes him put aside his concerns
Muriel, being the absolute sweet mountain man he is, built Kiko a nice little shelter next to the hut so she had somewhere to stay in the forest :)
The way you and Kiko looked at him with absolute adoration was all the reward he needed, trust me
-Portia Deovrak-
Actually squealed the first time she saw Kiko
Like s q u e a l e d, because she’d only ever heard of them and they’re even cuter than she had imagined almost as cute as you ;)
Her entire face just lit up when she realized not only that there was now a giraffe in the palace gardens, but that it was also your familiar
She grabbed your shoulders and was practically bouncing up and down as she asked if she was allowed to pet Kiko
She was just so happy and childlike as you let her ride Kiko for the first time, and was even happier when Kiko “approved” her with a little nuzzle on the head
If Julian happens to be around when you’re both riding Kiko you’ll relish in the fact that you are now “taller” than him
Portia always marvels over the close bond you and Kiko have, and the way you can basically read each other’s minds. It reminds her of her and Pepi, so she thinks it’s very sweet :)
You and Portia definitely use Kiko’s height to get into all sorts of mischief and she’s super chill about it as long as neither of you are hurt
Kiko sometimes has to, quite literally, drag you two out of trouble because she swears she turns her back on you for one second and you’re both in trouble
The two of you also work together and use the flowers from Portia’s garden to make Kiko and Pepi flower crowns
Kiko always says hello to you and Portia as you wander about the palace
Sometimes Pepi will be on Kiko’s back so she can say hello too and if that doesn’t melt your heart I don’t know what will
-Count Lucio-
He was pleasantly surprised when he first met your familiar a little jealous tbh
He’d seen giraffes before, but never one quite so gentle and sweet looking
Kiko did not approve of Lucio for a while, probably because she could sense something was just… off about him. Whenever Lucio started getting too affectionate with you, she would nudge him away because she’s not letting him hurt you again
But Lucio eventually won Kiko over and she was less bothered about the two of you being together
The first time Lucio tried to ride her, she looked back at him with a look of pure annoyance and the only reason she didn’t shake him off was because you were on her too
Obviously Lucio loves the attention Kiko tends to bring and regularly brags about the fact that his lover’s familiar is a giraffe
You’re usually oblivious to it, but Kiko and Lucio sometimes fight over you
The moment your back turns on them, they’re glaring at each other and having a nonverbal argument, but the moment you’re looking at them again they’re behaving themselves
Lucio definitely pouts and gets clingy when you’ve been spending a lot of time with Kiko, and has zero shame in draping himself over you until he gets your daily dose of kisses and cuddles
Of course, if you ask, he’ll refuse to admit that he was jealous of a giraffe
When Kiko and all Lucio’s pets get together it’s a messy yet adorable mess that the both of you fawn over together
Main 6 reaction on mc being jealous?
I’m just going to assume this is a normal, healthy amount of jealousy, if not, send in another ask and I’ll do another one ASAP! (Also thanks for requesting)
Main six reacting to Mc being jealous
Asra
Out of the main six he’s the least jealous so just jot that down. (Via: ask the arcana,) Asra and jealously is ahhhh such a touchy touchy topic, but if were being honest, if this isn’t too common I think he’ll be amused. If it happens every other day. He gets a little hurt,
Every now and then if you see him talking to a customer a little too long, or a tarrot reading gets a little too lovey Dovey, and you get jealous, he thinks it’s mildly cute. He’ll talk to you about it of course, while covering your face in kisses, as a way to remind you he only loves you. (Say what you want but I think asra tries to drop the topic as fast as he can, so he isn’t going to cuddle up next to you, extra but he won’t be opposed if you did to him) But it makes him a tad uncomfortable if you don’t drop the topic right away.
On that note, if you’re overly jealous, and it’s a thing that happens all the time, or if you refuse to leave him alone, or leave his side, he is very uncomfortable. Also upset. He feels like you don’t trust him, and you’re relationship is literally built on trust. Trust, love and blood, to be exact. Don’t be surprised if you get in a fight because of this, or if he leaves you unexpectedly. Don’t worry though! He’ll probably come back. Probably.
Nadia
Her and Muriel are tied in the middle on the jealous o’ meter according to the devs, so there’s that. She understands jealously I think the best out of the main six, so she’s not going to be too reactive. But she will make it up too you.
If you ever start to feel jealous when she’s talking to a servant for too long, or a noble person, she senses it (she has spidey senses when it comes to your jealousy. Again she has a good grasp on it) just get ready to be teased and pampered for the rest of the day or night. Don’t worry, Nadia will make sure you have nothing to feel jealous about.
She wants to make sure you know that she only loves you, so she does get frustrated if your still jealous even after she’s pampered and fucked you. She’ll try to talk you through it, but if that doesn’t work, she’s pissed. Yeah at first it was cute, but now she’s starting to get annoyed.
Julian
The man is second to least jealous according to the devs, but that’s not going to stop him from finding your healthy. (Big emphasis on healthy) amount of jealousy attractive. To an extent of course. But he just finds you wanting him like that hot.
A jealous moment here and there is fine. Julian thinks it’s hot, and I’ve mentioned before Julian is great at talking. So of course he’ll talk you through it, and let you know you’re his on and only, but if you’re still unsure, he’s going to be kissing every inch of your body while muttering praise about what he loves about you, and how he wants no one else but you.
But if you get jealous often, Julian feels a tad bit restricted he feels like he can’t be himself around other people, or go out alone, with out feeling guilt, and he gets very uncomfortable and upset, He’ll try to talk to you about why it makes him upset but if you still don’t get it, he think the two of you should take some time apart, for the better.
Portia
She wins the prize for ‘the most jealous out of the main six’ because baby girl is numero uno according to the devs. Meaning she’s lenient when it comes to jealousy, but not too lenient. It depends on the situation.
If you get jealous here and there, she’s all giggly, kissing you all over you face in between giggles telling you about how you’re her true partner in crime, and how she’d never give you up for anyone In the whole world! She’ll also make it very clear that there are no magicians as cute as you so...-
But if it happens often, she kind of shuts herself off from people and it makes her sad. She doesn’t want to make you upset, but she doesn’t want to upset other people (Portia is a bigggg people pleaser) so she’s really conflicted and sad, and Julian more or so likely gets mad at you, for hurting his baby sister >:(
Muriel
He????Does????not????understand???? It’s safe to say he doesn’t understand for multiple reasons, reason number one: he’s supposed to be meeting new people and opening up more, so why are you jealous, and reason two: why???do you???? Care about him so much??? Stop it it’s weird.
He’s going to be confused no matter how jealous you are, but if it happens once in a while, his face is red. He thinks it’s cute. He thinks you’re really cute when you’re jealous. And he tries his best to tell you he only has eyes for you, and might even give you a smooch in public, especially if that person was near. But that’s when the two of you have been together for a while,, if he’s not ready for that yet, he talks to you about it or writes you a lil love letter. :’)
But if it happens all the time, it’s not really cute any more, just annoying. He’s supposed to be opening up, but everytime he does your jealous, and he doesn’t want to upset you, but he feels like he’s upsetting you either way, so at this point the two of you are at a fork in the road.
Lucio
He’s the second most jealous out of the main six, right next to portia, so it’s a hit or miss. Again depends on the situation, but he loves it when you give him attention, or when you’re craving his attention.
If it happens once in a blue moon, he thinks it’s hot, and he will play hard to get. I’m sorry I don’t make the rules. he likes feeling wanted. He likes to know you want him as much as he wants you, and what happens after you finally catch him, depends on wether your a top or a bottom if were being honest,
But if you’re jealous all the time...he uh....well..... Lucio likes attention, and don’t get me wrong he loves attention from you! But uh he needs some attention from like every one else too. Like a nice healthy balance of both. He claims It keeps him ‘young’ and healthy, and with you being jealous all the damn time, your uh, making that hard for him.
Thanks for reading! I’m not having a great day so hopefully you like it, and if you need me to fix anything pls let me know and I can!
Counting the Days
[Finding Space and Time] | [Counting the Days]
Timeline: Muriel's Route; The Moon/The Sun
[Featuring @vesuvianoak‘s fan apprentice Ąžuolas]
Asra staggering back to the camp was not what Bảo and his family had wanted to see.
“Asra!” Bảo drops everything, rushing on toward the young one.
His face becomes etched with worry: the original party of three is down to one . . . plus Doctor Devorak. The latter follows closely behind the young magician, trying to get Asra to go steady on his feet.
“Asra?” Bảo repeats, placing his hands over Asra’s shoulders. “Asra, where—?”
“Ah, Mr. Nguyen,” the doctor murmurs, placing a firm hand on Bảo’s shoulder, “I would recommend that you, uh, give him some space at the mo—”
“Where are they?!” Bảo pleads. He shakes Asra a bit, trying to get the magician to talk to him, to look at him—
Unfortunately, the young magician’s purple-pink eyes are wide and blank: the poster child of shell shock.
“Bảo—” James’s voice cuts into his inquisition from a distance. He’s quickly moving to get to them, but Walt gets to the trio first.
“Hon, c’mon,” Walt gently pries his hands off of Asra. She nods at Julian as he leads Asra away, a protective arm around the latter’s shoulders.
By then, James has caught up with his partners, quickly ushering them away. Already, there was talk, talk of concern, worry, and dread of what this meant to the resistance against Lucio.
As Walt, James, and Bảo make their way back to their tent, the shortest of them keeps looking up at the sky, a sky that looks too bright, too nice of a blue . . .
How fucking cruel.
Whispered over and over, Bảo mourns, “Ở đâu? Ở đâu, con?”
Where? Where are you?
⁂ ⁂ ⁂
The war council that night is joined by what currently remains of the Aster-Nguyen family. Walt and Bảo are understandably quiet; James is pacing back and forth along the length of their side of the table; Neha, on the other hand, is livid.
“Why the hell am I the last one to know?!” Neha demands vehemently. “She’s my sister! We just got her back—!”
“Nene—” Bảo gets cut off with an aggravated snarl from her.
“Why did you have Ly and Muriel be the ones to go?! There are a lot of other people that could’ve gone in their place!” Neha snarls, her gaze hard and pointed at the Countess. “There are more experienced soldiers in the camp—I know this because—”
“Neha, stop—!” James shakes his head, but it’s no use.
“Who the hell do you think you are!?” Neha demands, slamming her hands onto the table. Tears flood her eyes; as they drip down her cheeks, she yells through gritted teeth, “They’ve already done so much for you! Are their lives that expenda—”
“Neha!” Walt snaps, “Stop it! Don’t talk to the Countess that way!”
“But Mom—”
“No! Enough is enough,” Walt sighs, shaking her head. She looks to James, who nods in return.
Wordlessly, James pulls his daughter away from the war council. Neha fights him the whole way, but James ultimately bundles her under his arms and walks off into the night. Before long, all that could be heard of Neha are her distraught, furious sobs.
The silence around the table is incredibly awkward. The Consul breaks it with: “ . . . well, that was dramatic.” He sips the last remnants of his wine, shaking his head.
For a moment, Nadia is at a loss for words. Her gaze is turned to Walterine and Bảo in sincere apology.
“There are not enough words for me to say how deeply sorry I am that you and your family are going through this,” she says.
“They, ahem . . . they wouldn’t want you to feel bad, Countess,” Walt reassures, though her voice warbles a bit.
“They’re not dead,” Bảo retorts, sighing. He rubs his eyes, tears having already made tracks on his face. “We just need to wait . . .”
“If there is absolutely anything you need,” Nadia replies, “please do not hesitate to seek me out. You know where to find me.”
⁂ ⁂ ⁂
After the first three days of Lyra and Muriel being missing, the Aster-Nguyen family are a wreck. The people around are kind enough to cover their shifts with cooking rotations, patrols, and even tidying around their campsite.
One of them, Ąžuolas, is a dear family friend. A frequent customer, the young man has seen Lyra around the Shop before and after the Red Plague. As of right now, Ąžuolas is among the camp that believes that Ly and Muriel will return. However, his firm belief in them didn’t belay his worries. From what he heard the pair were facing the Pontifex . . . defeating them would not have been easy. Still, he visits the Aster-Nguyen family daily, checking in with them and helping them out wherever needed,
It’s also during this time that Neha became rather sedentary. She did not go and see any of her friends; they came to her instead. With permission from her parents, they had sleepovers around their tent.
For hours at a time, Bảo wandered around the forest. He would come back in an hour or two, but he has this vacant stare in his eyes that sent chills down everyone’s spines. James had to nudge him more often than not to eat.
Asra wasn’t any better: he was usually travelling the realms of the Arcana with Walt to search for their loved ones. They did not have any luck, and it got to the point where Walt actually invited him and Julian to stay a while around her family’s campsite.
“We’ll find them sooner or later,” is her hopeful remark during one dinner.
Asra and Julian look at her with matching expressions of inscrutableness. She falls silent there, quietly returning to her food.
“The point still stands.”
⁂ ⁂ ⁂
The fifth day is when Walt, James and Bảo return to low levels of returning to their assigned duties. Neha was exempt, and she makes a habit of traipsing off into the woods.
It’s Asra who finds Neha out there this time.
It’s not too far away from the edges of Tent-Vesuvia; the magician had been intending to nap at the base of a certain tree, but Neha was already there.
Upon seeing him, Neha says flatly, “You can lie down or sit down or whatever . . .”
Accepting her invitation, Asra spreads out the blanket he has in hand, lying down on it. Settling on it with Faust coiling up on his chest, he places his hat over his eyes, hoping to sleep.
“. . . do you think they ran away?”
Lifting his hat off, propped on his elbows—and hat in hand—Asra raises an eyebrow at her. “How do you mean?”
“That they ran away from all this . . . crazy,” Neha gestures vaguely to the surrounding area.
“I don’t believe so,” Asra replies.
“How can you be sure?”
“For one: I know Lyra wouldn’t intentionally leave the family she was getting to know again,” he explains, sitting up fully now. “Muriel too.”
Neha’s expression screams I doubt it, but she only shrugs. Asra follows her line of sight, seeing the camp getting prepared for what seemed inevitable: lines were drawn into the dirt and a clash between their side to Lucio’s growing army of mercenaries would happen in weeks, if not days from now.
Children, those unable to fight, and the elderly were to stay in a cave until the fighting was over. Nadia wasn’t going to let anyone be stolen away to be a war prize for any of the enemy.
“I want to fight,” Neha exhales, drawing her knees to settle under her chin. “I’ll sneak away if I have to.”
“You’ll get into more trouble.”
“Do you think I care at this point?”
Asra frowns. “Even if you don’t, your parents will. Lyra will.”
Neha scoffs, but she concedes to that point. “She’s got enough trouble in her head with all this . . . if I add to it again she’s gonna get sick with worry.”
“Mhm,” he nods, then goes right back to sleep.
⁂ ⁂ ⁂
“For the love of the gods, Bảo!” James exclaims. He had just witnessed his husband leap over the six foot wide, six foot long, nine foot deep hole of a trap he and several other people had just finished digging. “You could hurt yourself!”
“Well, it still easy to cross!” Bảo retorts, leaning over the edge of it to stare into the abyss.
James swears under his breath, pulling him back to safety. “You break a bone it won’t heal as well! You’re not that young anymore!”
Bảo gasps, absolutely offended. "Hey! I'm not that old!"
"Says the man with gray hair!"
Bảo sticks his tongue out at his husband, but then breaks into laughter with him. James has a point: he was no spring chicken.
Double checking their map, the group’s cartographer makes note of where this trap is. Upon finishing, they all head back to Tent-Vesuvia.
Everyone was ready for the battle ahead: Bảo was going to be stationed in the trees with some other fellows, pelting things at the enemy; Walt would be with the group where the children and elderly would be hidden away, maintaining the shields and protection spells around her charges; James was going to be among the foot soldiers, which to no end worried everyone in his family.
“Are you sure you want to be on the ground when it happen?” Bảo murmurs softly. “You could stay with me or something . . . fight them from there.”
“The only reason you’re in th’ trees is because of your height and th’ fact yer lungs are givin’ ye trouble again,” James reminds him.
“Mm,” his husband nods, shaking his head. “You don’t need to be given a boost from the top of the ladder!”
“No I do not,” James replies, laughing softly. He dips down, placing a kiss on Bảo’s cheek.
“I’ll make sure you’re up there before I get to my post.”
In turn, Bảo gains a pink tint to his cheeks. He pulls James’s arm to wrap around his waist, keeping him closer as they walk together.
O*O*O
When they’re back in Tent-Vesuvia, there’s a loud racket occurring toward the center of it. James pauses, going on his tip-toes to see that a large crowd has gathered around Muriel’s hut.
“What in the world . . .?” James murmurs, startling a bit when he can hear his wife and daughter shouting in pure elation.
“Someone get the Countess!” one of their neighbors shouts.
Bảo and James look at each other, eyes wide before scrambling onward. People got out of the pair’s way. As the pair pass people by, they hear snatches of voices, relieved and awed.
“They’re back!”
“CANDANCE, DID YOU HEAR—!?”
“Oh thank the stars, they’re okay—!”
“LYRA!!!” Bảo cries out, bursting through the circle of people to pull his niece into a great big hug.
As James catches up with Bảo, the latter is hugging the stuffing out of Ly. The shorter man is soon twirling his niece in circles, sobbing and laughing with her. Before long, Bảo sets her back down. James joins in on the group hug with Neha and Walt, a great big weight drawn off his shoulders.
She was back! She was back and safe—
“C’mere you two!” Walt beckons, waving for Asra and Muriel to come over.
“But we’re not—” Muriel’s cut off by Walt grabbing his sleeve and pulling him into the hug. Asra joins in, with Faust encircling all of them in the seven people-strong hug.
“Can you please stop fucking disappearing!?” Neha pleads with Lyra once everyone lets each other go. The younger one holds onto her elder sister tightly, with Lyra returning the hug in kind.
Before Lyra can answer, Nadia enters the scene. The sight of Muriel and Lyra safe and sound brings a smile to her face.
Everyone parts ways as she approaches, and Lyra respectfully dips her head in greeting.
“You’re here,” Nadia exhales in relief.
Cheers, hurrahs, and delighted laughter light the crowd as Nadia pulls both Muriel and Lyra into a hug.
“Perhaps it is cruel of me, to keep sending you into danger . . . yet you always come back . . .” As Nadia steps back, she wipes away a tear, which makes Lyra fret a little.
“Oh Nadi—” Lyra soothes, pulling a handkerchief out of a pocket to give to her.
“Thank you,” Nadia sniffles, wiping away the rest of her tears. “Next time, I will be right beside you. I promise.”
Neha has a doubtful expression at that. She gets nudged by her mother, and gets a look from her father.
Reluctantly, they move away as Lyra and Muriel are whisked back into the hut with Asra and Nadia. Doubtless it’s to catch them up for the battle ahead.
“C’mon,” Walt urges her family, arms around the shoulders of her husbands as Neha leads the way. “Let’s do one final check of our stations and off to bed!”
presuming a slightly altered world, if lucio joined an a3 troupe, which would it be + why? (also tho they are not actors (which. lucio is an actor right) which troupes do u think the other lucifaces would join. idk if theres a specific chara in gbf u think would fit right into a3 but if u have any that would be cool as well?)
OH this is cool thank you for asking!!!!
so ironically the Lucifaces are voiced by the same guy who voiced the ex-Winter Troupe leader, which always adds a little something, to me.
but let's go with actual sortings shall we?
I feel like Lucio would fit Spring. Especially due to the Vibe, the fact he's the one who hides his intentions the most, who puts on a whole deceptive face, which fits a lot with the Spring Adults. There's also something very whimsical about him in the sharp contrast of how silly he behaves, and how tragic he can be otherwise. And yeah he's an actor, and i'm pretty sure he acted on some Shakespeare stuff, so, honestly, i feel like he'd be perfect for Spring.
Lucilius meanwhile.... I feel like by being a troublemaker in a sense, he'd fit Autumn pretty well. As someone who's been driven to act a certain way because of how stuff imposed themselves to him, he would fit well with the general thematic of Autumn. + he'd probably fit right in with the post apocalypse themes the plays have, butt in with Banri's perfectionism (and also Lucilius would totally try to take his role from The Stranger), and stuff like that. Also Granblue had a special "Modern AU" event a while back, in which Lucilius was the delincant of their school, who despite not going to school often, always had the top grades. He's literally like Banri but if everything went wrong instead. Put the two of them in a room and see who punch the other first.
Lucifer would fit the melancholy of Winter so much. The idea that you missed out on important parts of your life, that you fucked up with the one you once loved... Like his initial conflict with Sandalphon is not unsimilar to Tsumugi and Tasuku's conflict of "we had to go in separate ways because of miscommunication and we were left miserable, so much so getting back in contact came with great pain". Likewise also to how Lucifer is the one working on becoming more than what Lucilius had planned him to be, which fits also to how the Winter characters in general have learnt to move on from toxic environment and perception of themselves. Also Lucifer would totally fit in Sympathy for the Angel. Handsdown.
in characters adjacent to them, i think that like.
Belial would be Autumn both to follow Lucilius and also for his troublemaker streak. Also him having a major inferiority complex knowing Lucifer always will be better than him and more appreciated than him............ would i get killed if i say "just like Taichi for real."
Sandalphon would fit Winter the most, in continuation to what i was saying about Lucifer, though since he's rougher around the edges and more likely to pick fights, i could see him in Autumn as well.
Beelzebub would probably fit Autumn for hubris and fighting reasons honestly.
Sariel meanwhile.... is a tricky one. I feel like he might fit Winter more. Kinda on the more laid back side of things and more low energy than the others troupe and all.
So, Sariel is actually part of a theater troupe in gbf, and the leader of said troupe, Falsch.... is like you mix together Homare's antics but with Tenma's advices and the whole "burnt out child actor". So when it comes to the member of said troupe, their dynamic is so established as this troupe that it's hard to imagine outside of that.
as it is, Falsch could fit in Spring (Shakespeare fan, loves some drama, a bit two faced), Summer (he's so silly and he has a lot of comedy timing + a lot of Tenma's sides to him) and Winter (lots of regrets to work through, the impression he's at an impasse in life, that his best days are far behind him. also lots of Homare's theatrics)
Michael, who's also part of this troupe, would join Autumn for SURE imo. because she is exactly like Juza. So she deserves to have the room to bloom exactly like him on this stage.
Azrael, the last member of this troupe, would fit well into Summer meanwhile. she's silly, and she's trying so hard to remain upbeat despite of her situation, and desperately wants friends more than anything, so i feel like Summer would fit her perfectly.
I could perhaps round up the rest of the wmtsb cast, but they're less inspiring than the rest of them i think. on the top of my head i'd say, Gabriel, Halluel and Malluel would all fit Summer very well. Meanwhile i genuinely have no idea for Raphael and Uriel.
so, here's my pick o7
thank you for the ask ;D eheheh
