NEGRO (RSRJ RJRS)
Audiotexto de María Salgado y Fran MM Cabeza de Vaca. Pertenece a Jinete Último Reino.

L'INTERNATIONALE SERIES | Artists in Quarantine - MG+MSUM
See on Scoop.it - COMPARE RISK COMMUNICATION
Sanja Iveković, Triangle 2000+, 1979 photograph (1 from a series of 4). Collection of Moderna galerija, Ljubljana   Artists in Quarantine   Artists: Babi Badalov, Osman Bozkurt, Simnikiwe Buhlungu, Ola Hassanain, Sanja Iveković, Siniša Labrović, Rogelio López Cuenca & Elo Vega, Kate Newby, Daniela Ortiz, Zeyno Pekünlü, Maja Smrekar, Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, Guy Woueté, Akram Zaatari, Paweł Żukowski   Organiser: L'Internationale   The museum confederation L'Internationale has invited artists Babi Badalov, Osman Bozkurt, Simnikiwe Buhlungu, Ola Hassanain, Sanja Iveković, Siniša Labrović, Rogelio López Cuenca & Elo Vega, Kate Newby, Daniela Ortiz, Zeyno Pekünlü, Maja Smrekar, Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, Guy Woueté, Akram Zaatari, and Paweł Żukowski to join a conversation from their present working and living spaces, conditions and places. Their reflections suggest new perspectives on public/private space, solidarity and critique that are intrinsically connected with the present time.   In 1979, on the day of President Tito’s visit to Zagreb, the artist Sanja Iveković carried out an 18-minute performance titled Triangle (1979) on her balcony. She went out and started to read a book, drink a whisky, and made gestures as if she was masturbating until a security official arrived and ordered her inside. Do such domestic spaces still have the potential to be subservive and make a public statement, as Ivekovic's balcony did in the late 1970s? During this time of global isolation, virtual space, as well as the windows, balconies or facades of our homes have taken on the role and importance of town squares for collective expression, while also blurring the boundaries between public and private spheres. Artists in Quarantine is a modest way to contribute to the conversation about the effects of the current pandemic, redeliberating the communication channels that have influenced the present perception and consumption of information, as well as rethinking the potentiality of existing spaces.   Artists contributions will be shared online through L'Internationale’s social media channels, @internationaleonline, and via the websites and social media channels of members of the confederation from April 21st. Artists' proposals will be published twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday.   Maja Smrekar, feat. Urška Lipovž, Internationale, Day 04, 2020   Paweł Żukowski, Cardboards, 2020   Siniša Labrović, YOU, 2020   Isidoro Valcárcel Medina, Balcony Landscape, 2020   Zeyno Pekünlü, ...but it's never capitalism, 2020   Guy Woueté, L'heure de conter, 2020   Babi Badalov, Egaliti bis, 2020   Simnikiwe Buhlungu, My Dear Kite (You Can But You Can't) - Late Yawnings 01h43, 2020   Kate Newby, I can't feel good until I do this, 2020   Daniela Ortiz, Their feet descend to death – Their steps show us how to live, 2020   Osman Bozkurt, Domestic Archeology / Covid-19 Studio Logs, 2020   Akram Zaatari, Second Reading, 2020   Rogelio López Cuenca and Elo Vega, Urgent calm. Charivaria is an exhibition curated by José Luis Espejo and Andrea Zarza running from 6 October to 28 January at CentroCentro gallery in Madrid, Spain.
The exhibition consists of sound, visual and documentary resources from archives and plastic arts. Together, these tell a series of synchronous stories that span the period from the early Modern Age in Europe to the present day. These stories speak of blacksmiths, church bells, cowbells, festivals, protests, travelling musicians, carnivals and rites, to suggest hypothetical genealogies on how people use sound to position themselves in public space.

Jinete Último Reino Frag. 2 selected by Ruth Estevez as one of the 10 best artworks of 2019 for Artforum magazine (A year in friendship, december 2019).
“Azpilicueta’s work has affinities with that of Salgado and Cabeza de Vaca, whom I saw perform this past May at Madrid’s Casa Encendida. Jinete último reino frag. 2 (Rider Last Kingdom Frag. 2) is a lyrical concert that encourages its audience to challenge language itself, to detach from words that conflate desire and repression.”

Ruth Estévez is a writer and curator based in Boston and Mexico City. She is Senior Curator at Large at Brandeis University’s Rose Art Museum in Waltham, Massachusetts and Cocurator of the 34th São Paulo Bienal, which opens in September 2020.

Nana de esta pequeña era / This little era lullaby, 2019
Audiovideo. Co-authored and co-produced with Fran MM Cabeza de Vaca for Actually, the Dead Are Not Dead, Bergen Assembly, 5.9-10.11-2019, curated by Hans D. Christ and Iris Dressler in collaboration with Murat Deha Boduroğlu, Banu Cennetoğlu, María García, Hiwa K, Katia Krupennikova, Viktor Neumann, Paul B. Preciado, Pedro G. Romero, Simon Sheikh, and Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa, Bergen, Norwey.
This audiovideo belongs to the project Canciones de la Guerra Social Contemporánea (Songs of the Contemporary Social War), 2019, curated by María García and Pedro G. Romero, who has been endeavouring to reconstruct and put into circulation the songbook assembled by Debord under that title. Twenty-seven songs are presented in different ways – in compilations, concerts, performative presentations and grouped together with informational material. Artists contributing to the project include: Kiko Veneno, Maria Arnal, Christina Rosenvinge, Lorena Álvarez, Maialem Lujambo, Rocio Márquez, Andrés Duque, Julio Jara, Tomás de Perrate / Proyecto Lorca / María Marín, Javiera de la Fuente / José Ismael Sierra and Bettina Flatter.
After tracing Debord’s “Nana de la Zarzuela” (Zarzuela Lullaby), a 1981 remake of Lorca & La Argentinita’s 1931 recording of the popular “Nana de Sevilla” (Seville Lullaby), we brought to our present a lullaby for a deeply damaged sociopolitical context. Lullabies tend to name a monster (el coco) or a terrifyng danger to warn babies to protect themselves. When the listener begins to drift into sleep, the singer progressively omits words until the song dissapears. The ideal lullaby, Lorca said, would be the one built with only two note

39 Festival de Otoño, Teatros del Canal, 2021
Contemporary Live Arts festival, Madrid, 18-21/11/2021. Jinete Último Reino Frag. 1 + Frag. 2 + Frag. 3, trilogy of audiotextual performances co-authored with Fran MM Cabeza de Vaca. Light design: Carlos Marquerie. Sound director: Óscar García-Villegas. Graphics: Rubén García-Castro / ANFIVBIA. Producer: Lorenzo García-Andrade. Photo: Jorge Anguita Mirón.

Jinete Último Reino is a journey that is neither linear nor narrative around the formation of any subjectivity in the betweens of norm and desire, past, present and future, the ear and language. The historic Festival de Otoño -in which artists like Romeo Castellucci, Robert Lepage, Angélica Liddell or Rodrigo García, among others, have shown their work- offers a unique opportunity to experience the three pieces scenic pieces that conform the zone of investigation we have been working on these last years.
Frag. 1 (premiere)
Fragment 1 of Jinete Último Reino tries to travel to the impossible moment, completely hidden in our memory, in which we learnt to talk, and that can only be transferred by an aesthetical moment: music and poetry as roads of access to what we cannot remember but we have and at the same time contains us. We try to recuperate the musical experience of the language moving and growing, between what is understood by rhythm and what is understood by semantics. We also explore in forms of remembering and recording, in the history (of a collectivity of bodies) and the story (of a singular life). We want to reflash the sensations that we felt in that very moment of immersion in the world/language and of differentiation of our uniqueness in it through an octophonic sound system, a light design, recording machines and music players, informatic engines of buffer multiple reading that operate with lists of words, phrases and sentences necessarily finite but selected one by one with pleasure and strangeness. We share with you the video teaser of the new piece, its a total premier.
Frag. 2 (2019)
Fragment 2 of Jinete Último Reino puts on stage the passage from dream to letter, the literacy and other normalization processes (such as those related with gender and sexual identity) to which children are exposed until their color or difference is retained in a fixed meaning, classified. Where does this violence come from? Where does it go? And what part of body differences resist the norm? Frag. 2 also travels briefly to the past, to the civil war and fascism, and to the future, to the indentitarism and reactionary moment that we are living and will be inhabiting, always looking for those parts of our bodies, language and desire that survive in our gestures, calligraphy and errors. Formally, Frag. 2 is a 3D poem that synchronizes stereo sound with text on screen with performance thanks to the help of sound and graphic scores. A theory of language and writing is displayed through the combination of graphics, performance, sound and the live friction of what we hear and what we read.Jinete Último Reino Frag. 2 was premiered at the Idorritmias Festival at MACBA in 2019, and was selected by Ruth Estévez in 2019, for Artforum magazine, as one of the best artworks of the year.
Frag. 3 (2017)
Fragment 3 is about all kinds of Nights, that is, this place where things change their form during a night until the next morning they are not the same anymore. It is about desire as a political engine. It is about Feminism as the subject of the Era. It is about the distortion, detour and emotions that Night seeks to anybody who gives in to it. We invite the audience to enter in a scenic space without a front, drawn by a quadraphony, where we can all listen in an active and concentrated way and let sound and lights make one whole night happen in less than one hour without betraying its secret. The challenge was to compose electronic music without using its bass. Using live voice as sound material, the quadraphonic space, the sound and structures of dance music, its characteristic and ubiquitous loop, and dozens of microvariations that, inserted in the loop, widen its possibilities, fuel it, and respond to the diverse nature of human bodies.Jinete Último Reino Frag. 3 was premiered at the festival El porvenir de la revuelta in Matadero Madrid in 2017, it has toured through numerous spaces like the sala de bovédas of Reina Sofía Museum or the Mercat de les Flors. In december it will be presented in the Centro Cultural Kirchner of Buenos Aires. > podcast: "Especial Jinete Último Reino con María Salgado y Fran MM Cabeza de Vaca", La Hora extra, by Marta García, Cadena Ser, 7/11/2021: https://play.cadenaser.com/audio/1636110703670/?mm_time=0&mm_time_id=1636110703670&autoplay=true > interview: "JInete Último Reino: la desobediencia a la llanura", La Hora extra, by Marta García, Cadena Ser, 7/11/2021: https://cadenaser.com/programa/2021/11/07/la_hora_extra/1636266609_812780.html > review: #241 Sangre Fucsia "Poesía en acción": https://sangrefucsia.wordpress.com/2021/11/28/sangre-fucsia-214-poesia-en-accion/ > review: https://revistatarantula.com/maria-salgado-fran-mm-cabeza-de-vaca-y-jinete-ultimo-reino-fragmentos-1-2-y-3/

A la poesía… is part of an investigation into the language acquisition process, a period in which we process tones, rhythms and melodies to establish the forms of phrases and words. The piece recovers the musical experience of growing language in our bodies. A multichannel system presents in space and time a continuous-discontinuous sound that resembles that of a language in the world, but instead of imitating it, it reconstructs and reflashes it based on a small section of the language that, at the same time, seems to contain all of it, in the same way that a poem contains the whole language and, conversely, the whole language contains all the poems. Just as a poem is never fully understood, we do not fully understand each other when we speak; communication is, therefore, an isolated moment within non-communication and, conversely, non-communication is a momentary break from semantic conventions. Infinity, chance and the continuum of verbal experience are brought here by means of the multi-reading by computer engines of buffers that contain recordings of words and phrases chosen based on their appeal and strangeness. The world is made of language, but language, before meaning, is made of vibration. Everything that is heard in this installation is voice.
