Fragile! Alles aus Glas - Grenzbereiche des Skulpturalen: Heilbronn bis 15.05.2022
Fragile! Alles aus Glas – Grenzbereiche des Skulpturalen: Heilbronn bis 15.05.2022
Glas fasziniert seit seiner Entdeckung. Jahrhunderts…

Went to the Finnish Glass Museums and I brought:
a collection of Roman glass for @aristoteliancomplacency (and whoever else in Classics tumblr that might like that sort of thing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and an example of Bohemian uranium glass for @ms-demeanor

I enjoyed the contemporary art parts the most, especially Alma Jantunen's plant-like glass (which I didn't get pictures of), and Marta Klonowska's Movements, which was the thing I most wanted to see. She creates animals (and other creatures) out of shards of glass, based on animals (and other creatures) in old paintings and other art.

So the pictures I took are of the Pinecones and Orange. The reason why I think they are a cool piece of artwork is because they caught my eye and secondly it gave me an idea of an art piece I can make in my head. Starting with the Orange, I think that oranges and fruits in general have a lot of ways to express art and has been used for many years. So I thought that in artist would use fruits to create art that could be accidental. The second  picture of the big fruit tree is one of those ideas.  The second art piece that I found interesting was the pinecone and how I think that the way those pinecones were placed it created something. Which was why I posted of the first picture done by Marta Klonowska. Marta does many arts with glass pieces and I thought that the pinecones looked like a glass piece and the way they arranged it could definitely be art if done correctly.

The flowing crests on Brawlder’s head and tail are made out of shards of natural glass. Though they are dazzling in appearance, Brawlder uses them not only for display but also as weapons, striking its foes with them with a whiplash motion, or shedding individual shards and scattering them around itself, creating injury hazards on the field.
Etymology: Brawlder - Brawl + Boulder
Design notes: The final progression of this line also resulted in a favorite (and another frameshift-mon I’d gladly train). I wasn’t certain as for how to actually apply the suggestion of the long flowing crests on Pidgeot at first, and then inspiration struck as the glass-shard sculptures of Marta Klonowska came to mind - and honestly worked phenomenally well for this purpose. I’ve pictured this particular final member of the line as largely flightless, like the rest of its line - but with wing-arms this broad and the elemental shenanigans that Pokémon are known for - I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them could take to the air, even fairy briefly, and possibly inspire stories of great flying beasts made of rock, light reflected in their flowing bejeweled crests?
