A watercolor study using line art from my new favorite manga "Witch Hat Atelier" by Kamome Shirahama. The art of that mangas so beautiful and vivid I wanted to see what it whould look like with color added. But I also didn't want to just paint strait in my copy of the book either😅 it's too beautiful. So I drew one of the panels from the book with blue pencil and experimented with how I imagined that particular scene would look in color, as well as studying how Shirahama creates such beautiful form with such deft ink work. Truly a master worth studying. The art of Kamome Shirahama is unexplainably gorgeous, words nor my little color test can not do it justice. Go check out the manga for yourselves!

Ive been trying to do more studies recently. Here is one of them. Fun fact: I'm the same age the artist was when they painted this piece. That doesn't make me feel inadequate at all!

Master study of Mucha’s 1900 “Spring” merged with fanart of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Shadowheart

Symbolism, inspiration, and such below the cut!

I went with a redeemed/Selûnite version of Shadowheart, since that’s the route she took in my main playthrough of the game. All the flowers in her bouquet lean into that symbology, as well as her role as healer.

Night orchids: her favorite flower

Bay laurel: ambition, success

Blackthorn: hope against adversity, good fortune, protection

Borage: courage

Chamomile: energy in adversity

Cranberry: cure for heartache

Fern: magic, confidence, sincerity, shelter

Hyssop: cleanliness, sacrifice

Spider lily: new beginnings, rebirth, good health

Verbena: protection against evil

Yarrow: healing, inspiration

O ultimo alí é meu oc Sieg, tentei replicar o estilo do Inoue com as características dele como forma de praticar. Apesar de não ser exatamente como eu imagino ele num estilo mais realista, acho que conseguir deixar uma vibe parecida.
