TO THE VOLTRON FANDOM
Hi, My name is Kat. I’m 20 and I have been in the fandom since it started. now I know I am one of the quiet voices in this fandom Becuse I have never been active in a fandom quite like this one.
For this post I’m being no ambassador to the fandom of what has happened to this fandom in the past few weeks. But I’m for sure disappointed at the fandom for wha it has done for multiple reasons. But I’m The is post I’m gonna be calling all the BS in the fandom Becuase the way some parts of it acts at certain things like ships in general and the discourse. I’m just gonna say it is RIDICULOUS.

Now let’s talk about the problems in the fandom and try to fix them
1) Antis/Shaladins: l am going to be talking about you first becuase if we are being real here a lot of discourses come from you. No I am not hating on you with post but I am disappointed in the way you react to the creators the studios and the voice actors of this amazing show.
Like for instance Josh Keaton had no reason to apologize for the shipping discourse in this fandom. He had no reason to. The man was being a cool guy and interacts with us thats is what he does and he embraces his space dadness.
To to the antis/shaladins/haters who had to send DEATH THREATS to him and his family. You are no longer part of this fandom if you did that. And I will not stand for you to get away with it unless you face the consequences
(I’m seeing people responses on this post and I’m so sorry that I was misinformed, mind you I’m writing this post from my own experience of this fandom please be civil and respect my opinions stay awesome)
Here is the thing I know some but not all of you antis/shaladins are terrible. Also can we take away these terms like really. But all of you guys need to separate reality from fiction. The thing with I don’t get with the shaladins is hat u don’t like a ship Becuase Shiro is shipped with someone younger than him. Newsflash guys: AGES THAT ARE NOT A CANON FOR A CHRACHTER DOESNT MATTER
If you are reading this and don’t agree with me. Well sucks for you cause you are missing out.
But kat what happens if I meetmeet someone who ships shiro with any pairing of their shipping wheather it’s the person only ship or they multi-ship.
1)DON’T HATE ON THEM FOR LIKING THIS SHIP 2) THAT SHIP DOENST MAKE THEM BETTER OR LESS BETTER THAN YOU 3)RESPECT THIER SHIP 4)DONT BE RUDE AND SAY U HATE IT JUST SAY TO THEM YOU REPECT IT
Why you should do these things because it’s makes that other person on the other side feel more welcome to talk to you and or become friends with you online. You hating them for their ship based on their ship isn’t gonna make them talk to you at all

Why because they are so kind to the fan yet they get cyber bullied online Becuase of what they said or do about a Ship. All over a relationship that isn’t even real mind you. We the fans need to send more encouragement letter tweets posts etc to the VA’s Becuase they give us the voices of our loved characters from Voltron.
To the people who ask them about where specific character arcs are going or haven’t got enough screen time . Hey fun fact They don’t know where it is going either. WHY? Becuase it’s not their story their writing it’s the producers and the vld own remake of an 80s show.
To the people who bag on the writers for a character like Hunk (I love him too) and how he is written and say they can do better. Honestly go for it in your own VLD fanfic on how he should be written if you are to lazy to do that. Then don’t make that statement . But you have to be respectful to the writers. Again it’s been said over and over again JUST BE PATIENT. Hunk will get his shine just be patient if yo can’t go make that fanfic fam on your version of hunk that’s what fanfics are for.

4) In more ways we can make this fandom more inviting ?
It’s really easy and simple just be nice as respectful to people. It’s not hard. As an OG of this fandom I have seen it positive and welcoming. But Becuase of all the stupid discourses the attitude of the fandom has changed drastically which is sad.
Hey maybe because of this fandom you a hunk-like person but Becuase of the show and tumblr you have made internet friends and you found your new friends who pidge-like or lance-like
Or you are a loner wolf Keith but you found a cool person like shiro in this fandom
Am I right that intended friends are great Becuase they are duh 😸😸😸😸😸😸
Another point I want to make too is WORD HAVE POWERS.
So before you decide to write a negative anything to someone ONLINE remember: theere is another human being there receiving your messages. Haters message can break them you don’t know how they are or their life.
The best thing you can do is be nice encouraging to that person. They having a bad day tell them their amazing. If their are an artist of the fandom reblog ,tweet whatever app you are on.
And giving them feedback and appreticatiom toward their art. You giving them feedback motivates to keep doing what their are doing and that they are doing amazing in.
I’m a sappy 20 person let me live. I would love the cool people of the fandom to speed this #VoltroLove why? Becuase they message behind this hashtag is something we need in this fandom. VoltronLove stands for everyone coming together to obesess over this show. We are on the same team.
Like the Paladins we are also a family to one another. If you have made a friend or love someone posts whether it’s shitpost anything counts. You send them a whole lot of hearts and tell them how much you appreciate them. Did they make you more social? Did they get you out of your comfort zone? Did you make a cool new friend ? TELL THEM. Tell them with your words. I would love this hashtag to happen in voltron. Becuase we don’t tell the new people we met who has made us happy how we feel about them.
Us the fandom can be like Voltron one day if we choose to just accept be nice to one another ,be respectful of other ships, take out the haters and I bet you we can have a cool fandom before season 6 drop June 15.
And when this season drops everyone can be more respectful to the VAs and thevld staff. Let’s stop the negativity (the galras) and fight it with POSITIVITY ( Voltron) GUYS and lets make this voltron tag a nice safe tag.
