#Meeting On Jammu Kashmir Issues:

Note
If BJP actually cared about the pandits then why did Amit Shah not visit the Kashmiri pandits, who were protesting for more than 200 days demanding relocation, when he visited the Jammu region?
The truth is that all political parties use us pandits for their political agendas and spreading communal hatred in valley and eventually killing the 'Kashmiriyat'.
Honestly, I’m going to agree with you and say that Shah should have visited the protestors. As a envoy for the GoI that’s his duty. Kashmiri Pandits are unhappy with the LG and how he is treating them, and as a UT central government is all they can turn to. For a government rallying for the rights of Kashmiri Pandits, they are not doing what they are expected to by the fearful KPs.
But no, I do not agree with the fact that they do not outright care for Kashmiri Pandits, and the reason for that lies in the visit itself:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After every attack spree, Shah held meetings and assessed the security.
Tumblr media
The government is not doing a good job addressing the plighted, I will agree, but it is still doing its job in addressing the cause, so I will not go ahead and call it outright uncaring.
Yet that is just my viewpoint, and this is a sensitive issue, so if the Kashmiri Hindus feel like what has been done is not enough, then it is their call.
But yeah, whatever his reasons be, I do think he should have met with the protesting Pandits. They have a tragic history with betrayal, and the last thing they need is another government forsaking them.
But I will still not put it on the same pedestal as “other governments” because the Kashmir under Congress and the Kashmir under BJP are still as different as night and day, and you know that well. The terrorist activity has dipped, and Kashmiri Hindus are actually being given a thought. There is a reason you will see Kashmiri Hindus holding slogans like “We love you Modiji” even while protesting against the LG that GoI appointed.
And please, instead of sugar coating them as communal clashes, lets just call them what they are: attacks against Kashmiri hindus. It is not a communal clash when one group is simply dying and fleeing.
Oh, and a Kashmiriyat that faded away all eight times in the thousand year history of genocide, that could not save the people from being forced out of their homes, from being killed, from being brutally raped, allow me to say ki bhaad mein jaye aisi Kashmiriyat.

Everyone in Ladakh knows China has taken away our land: Rahul Gandhi
On Sunday last, Gandhi had claimed that Modi's statement that not an inch of the land in Ladakh has been taken over by China is not true.
Tumblr media
KARGIL: Raking up the border issue, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said every individual in Ladakh knows that China has “taken away our land” and claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assertion that not an inch of land was taken away was “absolutely false.”
The former Congress president’s remarks come after Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a conversation on Wednesday on the sidelines of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) summit in Johannesburg.
The conversation was not a structured bilateral meeting and was an informal one.
“I visited the whole of Ladakh on my motorcycle over the past week. Ladakh is a strategic place and when I was at Pangong lake, one thing was clear that China had taken over thousands of kilometers of Indian land. Unfortunately, the prime minister during an opposition meeting makes a statement that not an inch of our land was taken away which is ‘absolutely false’,” he said addressing a public meeting here on the last day of his nine-day tour of Ladakh.
“Every individual of Ladakh knows that China has taken away our land and the prime minister is not speaking the truth,” he alleged.
This is the second time during his Ladakh tour that the Congress leader has raked up the border issue with China.
On Sunday last, Gandhi had claimed that Modi’s statement that not an inch of the land in Ladakh has been taken over by China is not true.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra on Thursday said Modi conveyed to Xi India’s concerns on the “unresolved” issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, underlining that maintenance of peace and tranquillity in border areas was essential for normalisation of India-China ties.
The ties between India and China came under severe strain following the eastern Ladakh border row that began in May, 2020.
The Indian and Chinese troops are locked in an over three-year confrontation in certain friction points in eastern Ladakh even as the two sides completed disengagement from several areas following extensive diplomatic and military talks.
During the public meeting, Gandhi also extending support to Leh-based Apex body and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), which are fighting for full statehood and safeguards under sixth schedule of the Constitution, and said his party would not allow the BJP to hand over the resource-rich land of the union territory to its corporate friend.
The former Congress president said he was briefed by the people about their demand for political representation, safeguards for land, culture and language, unemployment, non-functional Kargil airport and the problem of cell phone coverage.
“I heard you and want to convey that the Congress is standing with you in your struggle, whether linked to the demand for safeguards or employment issues. All the people know that Ladakh is rich in natural resources. The 21st century is of solar energy and Ladakh has no dearth of it,” he said.
“The BJP knows and understands that if you will be given (political) representation, they cannot snatch your land,” he said and alleged that the “BJP wants to take your land for (industrialist Gautam) Adani and we will not allow this to happen”.
The two powerful bodies are jointly campaigning to press for their four-point demands, including full statehood, safeguards under sixth schedule of the Constitution, creation of two separate parliamentary constituencies for Leh and Kargil districts, recruitment and job reservation for the youth of Ladakh.
Both the Apex body and KDA, which is a separate amalgam of socio-religious, political and youth organisations of Leh and Kargil districts, were formed after the Centre abrogated the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into Union territories of J-K and Ladakh.
The BJP Ladakh unit was also part of the Apex body but later distanced itself after it raised the demand for full statehood.
In an apparent reference to Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast, Gandhi said, “Some are speaking what is in their heart but I came here to know what is in your heart. One thing is clear that the ideology of Gandhi and Congress exists in the blood and DNA of the people of Ladakh.”
He said migrant labourers from different parts of the country, including Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, told him that they feel that Ladakh is their second home as locals are lending a helping hand whenever they come forward to seek their support.
Referring to his Bharat Jodo Yatra from September 7, 2022 to January 30, 2023, he said the only goal of the foot march was to stand up against the “hatred and violence being spread by BJP and RSS” in the country and spread the message of love and brotherhood.
“The yatra was not supposed to end in Srinagar but in Ladakh. The administration did not allow us to continue the march due to harsh winter and we accepted it. My visit is in continuation of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. I visited every nook and corner of the region on the motorcycle and heard the people,” he said.
He also thanked the people of Kargil for always standing with the country during crisis and war, and said, “All the people in the country, irrespective of their religion, language and culture are equal for us and we all want to live together with love and respect.”
Gandhi described Ladakh as the most beautiful region of the country and assured the people that he will raise both their local and central issues during the next Parliament session.
After his over 15-minute long address, Gandhi walked past the security cover to interact with the gathering amid chants of ‘Jodo Jodo Bharat Jodo’.
Besides the working president of Ladakh Congress Asgar Ali Karbalai, National Conference leader and co-chairman of KDA Qamar Ali Akhnoon, AICC in-charge of J-K and Ladakh Rajni Patel were present at the public rally.

Fresh Exploration Planned for J&K Lithium Block After Auction Setbacks
India’s pursuit of lithium, a crucial mineral for electric vehicles and energy storage, has encountered another hurdle. The Ministry of Mines recently annulled the auction for the lithium block in Jammu and Kashmir’s (J&K) Reasi district for the second time. This decision on July 25 has led officials to consider further exploration before attempting another auction.
Tumblr media
The J&K lithium block, containing an estimated 5.9 million tonnes of lithium ore, has struggled to attract sufficient investor interest. The initial auction on March 13 failed to meet the minimum requirement of three bidders, leading to its annulment. A second attempt was made the following day but also fell short of success, with no qualified bidders advancing past the first round.
According to auction rules, a block with fewer than three bidders can proceed to the second round if it fails to meet the initial criteria. However, the J&K lithium block did not have any qualified bidders in the first round, preventing the auction from moving forward. The Ministry of Mines has acknowledged this issue, stating that further exploration might be necessary before the block can be auctioned again.
Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy, indicated that exploration work is underway with the Geological Survey of India (GSI) collaborating with the J&K government. The aim is to complete this exploration promptly and prepare the block for a future auction.
The lithium block’s first auction, part of India’s initial tranche of critical mineral auctions, aimed to award a composite license (CL) for prospecting and mining operations. This attempt was annulled due to insufficient bidder participation. A second auction was held without altering the bid documents, but it similarly failed to secure the required number of bidders.
The Mineral (Auction) Rules, 2015, stipulate that if a block doesn’t attract at least three technically qualified bidders, it can be re-auctioned. For the re-auction, the reserve price must be set at the highest initial price offered by technically qualified bidders from the previous attempt, which in this case was 11.25 percent.
Bidder feedback from the first auction revealed concerns about the bid document’s limited information and the block’s size. Questions also arose about the feasibility of extracting and processing lithium from the J&K deposits. The Ministry of Mines has acknowledged these issues, which may have contributed to the lack of interest.
Despite these setbacks, India has made progress in its lithium mining ambitions. A successful auction was held for a lithium block in Korba, Chhattisgarh, with Maiki South Mining Pvt Ltd winning the bid on June 24. This success and promising results from other exploration efforts in the region offer hope for future developments in domestic lithium mining.
As India continues to push for self-reliance in critical minerals, the exploration and eventual auction of the J&K lithium block remain pivotal in achieving this goal.

Centre Rules Out Special Status For Bihar, Lalu Yadav's Party Takes A Swipe
The Centre has ruled out any plan to give a special category status to Bihar, a core demand by its key ally, the Janata Dal (United), prompting the Rashtriya Janata Dal to take a swipe at JDU leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Tumblr media
Ramprit Mandal, JDU MP from Bihar's Jhanjharpur, had asked the Finance Ministry if the government has a plan to provide special status to Bihar and other most backward states to promote economic growth and industrialisation.
In a written response, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said "case for Special Category Status for Bihar is not made out".
"The Special Category Status for plan assistance was granted in the past by the National Development Council (NDC) to some States that were characterized by a number of features necessitating special consideration. These features included (i) hilly and difficult terrain, (ii) low population density and/or sizeable share of tribal population, (iii) strategic location along borders with neighbouring countries, (iv) economic and infrastructural backwardness and (v) non-viable nature of State finances," the reply stated. "Earlier, the request of Bihar for Special Category Status was considered by an Inter-Ministerial Group (IMG) which submitted its Report on 30th March, 2012. The IMG came to the finding that based on existing NDC criteria, the case for Special Category Status for Bihar is not made out," it added.
A special status ensures more central support to a backward state to expedite its growth. While the Constitution does not provide for a special status for any state, it was introduced on the recommendations of the Fifth Finance Commission in 1969. Among the states that have received a special status so far are Jammu and Kashmir (now a Union Territory), Noreastern states and hill states such as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
A state with a special category status gets more funding support from the Central in the Union government's schemes and several concessions in taxes.
A special status for Bihar has been a longstanding demand of the JDU. With the BJP falling short of a majority in this election and tying up with JDU, TDP and other parties to cobble up the magic figure, the Nitish Kumar-led party was expected to push hard for its core demand. The JDU also raised this demand at an all-party meeting before the budget session.
JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha said the demand for a special state status for Bihar has been a priority for the JDU. "Bihar should get the status of a special state, this has been the demand of our party since the beginning. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has held big rallies for this demand. If the government feels that there is a problem in doing this, then we have demanded a special package for Bihar," he said, according to a PTI report.
With the Centre making it clear that it has no plan to grant a special status, Bihar's main Opposition RJD has hit out at the JDU, which is ruling the state in alliance with BJP. "Nitish Kumar and JDU leaders must enjoy the fruits of power at the Centre and continue their drama politics on special status," the RJD said in a post on X.
A source in the government said that the Special Category Status issue was first addressed in the National Development Council meeting in 1969. "During this meeting, the D R Gadgil Committee introduced a formula to allocate Central Assistance for state plans in India. Prior to this, there was no specific formula for fund distribution to States, and grants were given on a scheme basis. The Gadgil Formula, approved by the NDC, prioritized special category States such as Assam, Jammu & Kashmir, and Nagaland, ensuring their needs were addressed first from the pool of Central assistance."
The Special Category status concept was introduced by the 5th Finance Commission in 1969 recognising historical disadvantages of certain regions, the source said.
"Until the 2014-2015 fiscal year, the 11 States with Special Category Status benefited from various advantages and incentives. However, following the dissolution of the Planning Commission and the formation of the NITI Aayog in 2014, the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission were implemented, leading to the discontinuation of Gadgil Formula-based grants. Instead, the devolution from the divisible pool to all States was increased from 32% to 42%," the source added.

Sant Wires' Gabion Boxes: Robust Retaining Walls for Jammu & Kashmir
Sant Wires' Gabion Boxes: Robust Retaining Walls for Jammu & Kashmir
How Sant Wires Ltd’s Gabion Boxes Build Strong Retaining Walls in Jammu & Kashmir
Tackling Soil Erosion and Slope Instability in Hilly Terrains
The hilly and mountainous regions of Jammu & Kashmir are known for their stunning landscapes and diverse ecosystems. However, these areas also face significant problems like soil erosion and slope instability. These issues can lead to landslides, loss of farmland, and damage to infrastructure. Therefore, it is important to find strong and lasting solutions for soil retention and slope stabilization.
Tumblr media
Challenges with Traditional Earth Retention Methods
Traditional methods like concrete retaining walls or soil nailing often don't work well in the hilly regions of Jammu & Kashmir. These methods can force the soil to maintain unnatural angles, which increases the risk of structural failure. Additionally, factors like heavy rainfall, earthquakes, and temperature changes can affect the soil and the stability of these traditional retaining structures.
What are Gabion Boxes and How Do They Work?
Gabion boxes are rectangular wire mesh containers filled with rocks or other materials. They are typically made from strong, heavily galvanized steel wire, which provides durability. The mesh allows for flexibility and permeability, making gabion boxes an ideal solution for construction projects in challenging terrain.
The wire mesh acts as a flexible form, allowing the box to adapt to ground movements without losing its integrity. The rocks inside are tightly packed, creating a dense and strong structure capable of withstanding substantial loads and environmental stresses. The permeable design of gabion boxes allows water to pass through, reducing the buildup of pressure and minimizing the risk of structural failure due to water accumulation.

Latest news international: Why is Pakistan Suddenly Keen to Improve Trade Relations With India?
Tumblr media
The Pakistani foreign minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, recently said that his country is seriously considering improvement of trade ties with India as per top 10 news today in Hindi. He further referred to the roundabout route via UAE through which Indian products enter Pakistan, making them quite expensive. Of course everyone understands that Pakistan’s economy will get boosted if it resumes complete trade ties with India but then such trade ties can resume only when both sides are willing.
According to the latest India news in Hindi, the Indian foreign minister while responding to a specific question by a reporter about the Pakistani foreign minister’s statement said that Pakistan must meet certain conditions before trade ties can resume.

Clearly, the Indian foreign minister, S Jaishankar was referring to the support for cross border terrorism in India that Pakistan was involved in. He said that normal trade ties cannot go hand in hand with support for terrorism.
Now, that’s the reality of the overall status of the relationship between the two countries for the past few years and Pakistan is well aware of it. Yet it made this statement just before the Indian elections.
Can Pakistan compromise its stated position on issues with India?
The question that arises from the Pakistani foreign minister’s statement about improving trade ties with India is whether Pakistan is in a position to meet India’s conditions in this regard.
Readers of the top 10 news today in Hindi are interested in knowing if Pakistan can stop supporting terrorist infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir, without which India will not be interested.
Most observers and analysts covering India-Pakistan relations are of the view that the objective of the Pakistani foreign minister’s statement is not what he said but something else.

The Pakistani rulers know very well that they cannot back away from the stand they have taken against India as it would be opposed very strongly by the masses of their country.
Hence, most Indian observers feel that this was just a ploy by Pakistan to check India’s response although some observers have come up with more interesting possibilities of Pakistan’s real intentions.
Did Pakistan make the statement at the behest of other powers?
According to the opinion of geopolitical observers and analysts in some of the top 10 news today in Hindi and other media outlets, it is quite likely that Pakistan did so at the behest of a major power.
ALSO READ| Today Latest Political News: Why is India Getting so Closely Involved in Armenia’s Struggle Against Regional Bullies?
Pakistan has always been a stooge of one or other big power. Before it was created by the British, the founders of Pakistan had undermined the Indian freedom struggle in collaboration with the British.
Post 1947 after its creation, Pakistan became a vassal of the United States (US) since the British had become quite insignificant by then. After the India-China war in 1962 Pakistan saw a great advantage in latching on to China’s coattails as it gave it additional leverage against India.
The intriguing statement of the Pakistan foreign minister about his country’s keenness to resume trade ties with India must have been a Chinese idea just before the forthcoming Brazil Russia India China South Africa (BRICS) summit in Moscow.
ALSO READ| Today Breaking News: Is the US State Department Becoming More Careful While Commenting on India?
China is putting its weight behind getting Pakistan included in the BRICS but since India is against the idea, this could have been a ploy to show Pakistan in good light to the rest of the BRICS members. Both China and Pakistan know about the Indian position on this issue but they want to start a narrative that shows Pakistan being deprived of a place in a growing multilateral body due to opposition from India. One of the conditions for a new member to be admitted into the BRICS is that it should have normal relations with all the other members of the group. Although China’s relations with India are also strained but trade relations between the two nations are still worth over $100 billion. If that façade of normality can be achieved between India and Pakistan with some trade, then Pakistan’s entry into the group will become easier.
