Hey GP! May we get some PoNR skirt swish gifs? My fav is Trista Moldovan
Ah, the skirt swish! It's an interesting bit of blocking that doesn't show up everywhere. In the US, I first noticed it being done around 2009-2010 in the national tour, by Kelly Jeanne Grant and Trista Moldovan as shown below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trista Moldovan then took it to Broadway where she influenced some of the other Broadway Christines into doing it, like Marni Raab and Samantha Hill. Below is Marni Raab:
Tumblr media
But after that, it fell out of vogue, and I haven't seen it as much in the flagship productions. Rather, the places I've seen it were sporadically in Germany, such as Alison Kelly in Hamburg, Sandra Danyella in Essen (she swish and she sits), Valerie Link in the Hamburg revival (the slip-and-slide version), and Elizabeth Welch in Oberhausen (who may have brought it over from Broadway):

And then in international productions from 2015 on - in fact, I think most of these are productions directed by Arthur Masella, so I think he's pretty much incorporated it into his direction. So it's popped up in the Moscow production (with Mercedesz Csampai's thigh-baring rendition), the World Tours (shown with the very energetic Sara Sarres), the Stockholm revival (with Emmi Christensson), the Copenhagen revival (with Sibylle Glosted's more understated interpretation), and the Sao Paulo revival (with Lina Mendes and her big swish). I've also seen it done in the Korean and Chinese productions but I can't gif many of those videos so just take my word for it:

Hope those show some interesting and fun versions!

May Is Also Known As
Are you Ready
Jewish American ✡ 🕍 🇮🇱 🕎 🔯 ✡ Heritage Month
That's Right, Apparently The Jews Have a Month too. Which i didn't know about. But I always thought the Heritage months were based on Race not Religion. But any who.
(JAHM) is an annual recognition and celebration of American Jews' achievements and contributions to the United States of America during the month of May.
In April 2006, President George W. Bush announced that May 2006 would be considered Jewish American Heritage Month. The announcement followed urging by the Jewish Museum of Florida and South Florida Jewish Community for a celebration of Jewish Americans and Jewish American Heritage.
The president wanted to proclaim a month that would recognize the more than 350-year history of Jewish contributions to America and the American culture. On February 14, 2006, Congress issued House Concurrent Resolution 315 which stated:
"Resolved ... that Congress urges the President to issue each year a proclamation calling on State and local governments and the people of the United States to observe an American Jewish History Month with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities."
The Jewish American Heritage Month Coalition states that, "JAHM also enables the exploration of the meaning of religious pluralism, cultural diversity, and participation in American civic culture."
According to Library of Congress hosted website, JewishHeritageMonth.gov, May was chosen as the month of Jewish American Heritage Month because of the successful 350th Anniversary Celebration of Jews in America marking the Jewish arrival in New Amsterdam.
Well Besides The Fact that the  Ignoramus President Numero Uno known as George W. Freaking Bush made this a proclamation. Ugh it is a good thing it is a Reality. The JAHM not him lol 😆.  Anyway To All
My Fellow Jews/ Jewish ✡  Friends and trust me I don't have too many of them. But I know of 1 or 2 😉.  May This Month & Every Other Month Bring You All The Prosperities & Wisdom To Share With The World 🌎 & Educate those who want to learn the Wonders Of The Origins Of Jewish People ✡ & All Of Their Accomplishments Along The Way In History.
LE'CHAIM TO ALL
THIS IS JEWISH ✡🕍🇮🇱🕎🔯 AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

I spent the afternoon of New years eve in the best possible way: watching the final performance of Waitress at Östgötateatern. I adore this production and this cast, it's just fantastic. Today they brought it to a level I did not think existed. There's truly something very special about watching the finale perfomance of a musical. I have so many feelings and emotions that I can't put into words right now, but one thing I can say is this:
Mercedesz Csampai is just perfect as Jenna. Her portrayal is just one of a kind. Her presence, understanding of the character and the way she embodies Jenna... Her 'She used to be mine' from today is something that I will never forget. It was so emotional yet vocally perfect.

Okay I realized I was so consumed with making sure anon knew
Mark Seibert wird das Phantom spielen
That I never answered the other part of the question. So here is my Vienna revival cast speculation/hopes
To be honest, I have not really kept up with German language musical theatre these past few years, at least not like I used to, so there's probably some obvious candidates I'm missing. So this is my list that is heavily skewed towards people who have been in Schikaneder or in Phantom before (in different roles or as understudies). Also some of these people are probably booked with other projects.
Christine: I've said for a while I thought Milica Jovanović would be a great choice. Not sure it will happen this time around though. But I'm fairly certain that Lillian Maandag will get a shot at the role in some capacity. Just a gut feeling especially because I anticipate a lot of the Rebecca cast auditioning and being cast in Phantom at the same theatre. Would be cool to see her sisters Annemarijn (who played the role in Oberhausen) or Willemijn Maandag getting a chance too. And I know Mercedesz Csampai is very busy with lots of projects but I still want her to return to the role of Christine.
Phantom: As we've established, Mark Seibert will play the Phantom. But I'm pretty sure there will be an alternate/standby/double casting situation. I think Thomas Borchert would like to return to the role based on social media. It's probably going to be someone who played Krolock tbh. I think I would like Robert David Marx to be an understudy Phantom because he took some cool photos of the Dance of the Vampires cast and I listened to his voice and liked it. Other names that frequently get thrown around like Jan Amman could be cool. I would not be shocked if Lucius Wolter is a Phantom cover, he was a Raoul understudy in Essen (appearing in the infamous Uwe Kröger video).
Raoul: I liked Florian Peters in Schikaneder and Mozart, plus he's engaged to Lillian, so it would be cute to see them together. I also like James Park as an option based on what I've heard and his past roles. I wonder if we'll see Oedo Kuipers return as principal Raoul. And I hope Toby Joch is in the cast, he was legendary on social media and I liked him as Raoul on audio.
Carlotta: I am a big fan of former Christines returning as Carlotta, so maybe Colleen Besett? I also am thinking of Katja Reichert. Karin Seyfried played Meg in the original Vienna production and has since played more legit musical theatre singing roles like Jellyorum in Cats, it would be cool to see her as Carlotta or Giry.
Managers: Thorsten Tinney, Hardy Rudolz, Martin Pasching, Armin Kahl?
Madame Giry: I really really want Eva Maria Bender to return to the show. Ana Milva Gomes or Silke Braas-Wolter or Shari Lynn Stewen or Maya Hakvoort if she decides to break away from Elisabeth concerts.
Meg Giry: Myrthes Monteiro! She was a ballerina in the original Brazilian production and is now based in Germany.
Piangi: Reinwald Kranner? Raymond Sepe returning? Chris Georgetti surprise return? That one is wishful thinking, I think VBW is less likely to cast random Americans that Stage Entertainment and also as much as I'd love to see some Broadway cast members in the show again, I think it's pretty unlikely we see that happen.

I was looking for an expert opinion, so I was looking for you. So...It is possible that we get a Christine who played Eponine too? I only know Meredith Braun who played Christine and Eponine. I always wondering why the production usually choose an actress who played Cosette.
The same with the actors who played Javert. A lot of posibilities :c
I think there's been several more Eponines who have played Christine, and vice versa. Meredith Braun is one, but Mercedesz Csampai is another, as well as Kristin Holck, Katie Knight Adams, and AJ Callaghan (though she also played Cosette and Fantine).
The reason why Cosettes become Christines (and vice versa) is pretty simple though: the similarity in vocal type and role. Cosette calls for a classical soprano voice who falls into the ingenue role (young, innocent, virginal, often a love interest); Christine also calls for a classical or operatic soprano who is young, naive, and the love interest of the Phantom and Raoul. Eponine, on the other hand, is more of a belt role, and while there are classical sopranos who can also belt, it's not as common as, well, finding a classical soprano among the actresses playing Cosette.
And I think it's the same with Javert; the role calls for a baritone with some fairly low notes, whereas the role of the Phantom asks for a high baritone, baritenor, or tenor, so for a lot of Javert actors, the role of the Phantom might be a bit too high for them to comfortably sing (case in point: Earl Carpenter in his first run, who acted the hell out of Javert and the Phantom but who did struggle singing those high notes, and still does, though he's shown a lot of improvement since). So it's easier, and more common, to find your Phantoms among the Valjeans, the Mariuses (Marii?), and the Enjolrases (Enjolrai?), who are all more high baritone roles.
And that's musical theater casting for you, I suppose.
