Going Up?
I’ve not had this much writing inspo in a HOT minute. Enjoy Flora’s first time on the elevator! If you see any misspells or words that are wrong, please tell me, criticism(as long as it’s nice) is appreciated! I’m dyslexic so I can mess up words sometimes.
-
I walk through the doors of the small, cozy convenience store. Glig Glags is it’s name, and immediately my eyes catch the large being standing at the check-out desk.
Tall, towering, and large, they have broad, disproportionate shoulders and a thick torso, with arms that have a noticeable width to them itself, and the grey clad uniform is not enough to dull the garish yellow of it’s round face, and scarily enough the only thing on said face is two black eyes and a wide smile. Certainly not human. They’re much taller than me, and certainly much taller than Mach. They’re having to sit down just to fit in the store.
They could crush me like a bug.
“Hello!” Oh God that voice does not fit.
I step up to the large thing, and their eyes follow me, getting bigger as I get right up to the counter.
“Do you normally just stare at business owners?” The head tilts. I have to hide my shudder.
“Sorry- I’m- I’m not used to-“
“Things that look like me? No worries, unless you have sticky fingers, I will not harm you. I am Enphoso, and welcome to my shop.” It motions to the shelves with various wares. Gleaming, orangy gold tokens of a creature I can’t recognize, dart guns, plenty of bowling pins with a cat face and a hat, and in the corner an ominous red orb.
“Thank you.” I’m slightly eased, mainly because whatever this thing is clearly isn’t hostile, of course it wouldn’t be, Mach wouldn’t send me here if it was.
“What’s the schedule of the elevator?” I crane my neck to look up at Enphoso, and he smiles, laughing. A piercing giggle.
“Who ever told you there was a schedule? No one talks like that, it comes when it comes.” My brows furrow, and I can feel an uncomfortable heat build in my body.
I hate being late, I hate having plans thwarted, and I hate not having a schedule.
“But do not worry, it will come here soon.” It reassures, placing a hand on its chest.
“How do you know that if there’s no schedule?” I ask broadly, and it gains me another god awful giggle.
“When you’re a shopkeeper in such a place like this, you learn the unexpected.” It motions it’s hand to a wall, and the wall opens up, revealing an elevator door, and the door opens.
Out comes creatures of all kinds, running and looking around at the shop. Right, the players.
“You’re on a timed schedule, I’d get on before you’re stuck waiting here, friend.” Enphoso wills me on.
I don’t feel very willed. The pit in my stomach turns as I walk towards the elevator, almost running straight into a Mannequin wearing a hard hat.
“Sorry! Excuse me!” I call out as I narrowly move around them.
“Watch wher’ yer goin’ kid!” A masculine, southern voice yells out at me as I clamber into the elevator, almost blinded by the change in lighting.
“Someone doesn’t belong here.” Someone speaks, and I look over to them. Maybe about one foot taller than me, skinny and lanky, with pale white skin and beetle mandibles, and long spiky white hair. It donned black clothing with Japanese symbols, and a black hat to fit.
“Pest! Don speak Japanese to a new comr! U’ll ovrwhelm them!” Speaks another one, more feminine presenting, heavy-set with puffy yellow curls and matching skin. They have a party whistle in their mouth and a multi colored party hat, and clothing that almost reminds me of an early two-thousands outfit from my old universe. It almost makes me sick.
Wait.
He spoke Japanese?
Right. I forgot I can understand people even when they’re speaking another language.
I debate on acting confused, but the tall beetle chitters and scoffs.
“Stand in a corner, will you? You terribly lack elevator etiquette.” He crosses his arms.
“Right- sorry.” I stammer out, placing myself in a corner between the two.
“Hai! I’m PartyNoob! I go by Poob tho.” The bright colored one waves, and then happily blows their whistle.
“Do you always have to introduce yourself by your gamertag?” Pest huffs, rolling his red eyes.
“Yu kno EXACTLY y I do!” Poob responds back, blowing their whistle as the flood of players run back in.
It’s so loud. So entirely loud. I can barely get a thought in. So many people, the players jumping around me like I’m a statue.
My head spins as the elevator goes up.
“Yu look sic! Thas no gud! If yu need a thro up pail, I have an empty gift box!” Poob gestures it towards me, and I can notice by the way the players stop jumping around to look at us, that they’re intrigued.
“I…I’m just not good near so many people, but thank you, Poob. That’s very sweet of you. I don’t throw up easy though so I’ll be okay.” I smile, and wave dismissively.
“Okay! Jus tell me if yu need it! It’s a long ride!” Poob blows her party whistle again, and then turns back to face more of the front of the elevator.
I’m heart warmed by the gesture until one of the players come up and open palm SMACKS Poob across the face. My jaw goes slack.
“Hey!” I go to interject, but Pest raises his hand.
“Save it. They can only hear what their universe permits them to hear. They’re never going to listen to you. What are you, new here?” He looks away from me, shaking his head.
“I wish they wuld listen…” Poob says sadly, looking down at their feet.
I realize how much I’m going to have to get used to. What the hell did I get myself into?
God, this is going to be one long elevator ride.

A Parallel I Would Lie My Life On - Part 1
A story of second chances told in fragments. Posted on AO3 under the same name.
The sound of his guards yelling reached him from his office. Frowning, wondering what the commotion was, he exited the room, tilting his head to try and figure out where the shouting was coming from. Following it down a hallway, he watched a figure fling themselves around the corner of the stairwell, running as fast as they could. Directly towards him. He saw a flash of white hair, the persons eyes widened as they registered him standing there before their bodies crashed together, limbs tangling with the force of the mans impact.
He grunted in annoyance, golden fingers digging in tightly to grip at the mans leg as he crawled forward in an attempt to escape. Just barely managing to get himself on top, the mans mismatched eyes wide before he felt a knee slide against his chest, a grin crossing his face as he shoved Midas away. He reached out, trying to latch on to anything he could, fingers narrowly missing. The man was already on his feet, a laugh echoing through the hallway as he continued running down it, the guards that had been after him just reaching the top of the other stairs.
They continued to chase after him, Midas watching in stunned silence. One of the guards stayed behind, reaching a hand down to help him up. "Who was that?" He asked roughly, brows furrowing as the guards took another staircase down, already knowing they wouldn't be able to catch him.
"Some low life thief. He's been making his rounds around the island, I never thought he would actually try anything here."
"What information did he try and steal?"
The guard shook his head at that. "Not information. He's been stealing small things, like paintings and gold. He's hit a couple of the mansions around the island for things like jewelry. Stole a car too from what I've heard."
Midas hummed, looking down the now empty hallway. "Do we know his name?" The guard shook his head again. With a sigh, Midas crossed back to his office, glancing out of the window. Watching as a figure sprinted through the courtyard, across the bridge before sliding into a car, no doubt left there for a quick escape.
"Find out who he is."
"On it, sir." Midas continued to watch out the window, not bothering to look back at the guard. Watching the car take off, flying down the road towards the northern part of the island. He would have to let Skye know to be on the lookout in case he tried anything at their northern base.
--
Eyes opening to a the dark room, a faint glow coming from the table in front of him, Midas groaned as he straightened himself up. Too many nights of falling asleep in his chair was starting to ruin his back, grimacing as he stood. With a sigh, he shut the window to block the cool air that was making its way inside, wondering who had opened it. He walked towards the door, readying himself to wander the grounds before a sound stopped him.
The slightest movement, a rustle of fabric making him turn instead. His hand instantly went for his gun, the thief crouched down as if to hide himself away. As soon as their eyes locked, the man sprang forward, aiming for the door. Quick to make his escape, not looking for an actual fight. Midas grabbed at him, managing to catch him this time as the man let out a surprised sound before an elbow connected with his stomach.
Still disoriented from waking up, he grunted as he curled in on himself slightly. A frustrated sound leaving him as he lost his grip on the mans coat. Ignoring the pain, he launched himself forward as the man swung the door open, tackling him into the hall. They fell to the ground, struggling to gain the upper hand over the other. Surprised with how quickly the man seemed to be able to worm himself out of Midas's grip again, annoyance flashing through him as he swung his fist forward to try and least make the man pause.
His fist connected, a grunt of pain coming from below him as it did what it was supposed to. Enough time to grab for the knife sheathed along his thigh, pressing the blade up quickly against the mans throat. Settling his weight onto the mans thighs to hold him in place, he finally stilled beneath Midas, their breaths loud in the empty hallway. Studying each other in silence.
Suddenly, the man smirked, eyes low as he pressed himself up. Brows furrowing at the action, Midas kept the knife against his throat even as he let the man sit up, watching it dig lightly into his neck. Clearly he didn't care if Midas wanted to kill him or not. Moonlight was shining through one of the hallway windows, reflecting off of the one blue eye brightly. "How did you know I like knives?" He purred. His voice was soft, could hear the accent in his words.
Midas frowned, eyes narrowing. "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
"I was just taking a look around."
Midas pressed the tip of his knife harder against the mans throat, eyes darting down to watch as a drop of blood broke free, slowly rolling down his neck. A soft laugh left the man, a grin slowly spreading across his face. "If you pull a knife on everyone you see late at night, I may just have to come back."
At that, Midas raised a brow. "Who said I was going to let you leave?"
He watched as the man bit at his lip, grin still on his face. He looked smug, watching Midas for a moment before he leaned forward again, Midas jerking back as he felt the mans lips brush against his. Caught off guard by the action, unprepared as one of the mans hands reached up, grabbing his hair even as he moved away. Yanking it to the side harshly, the other grabbing for his knife. Managing to situate himself on top of Midas, reversing the position they had been in for a brief moment before he was up, backing down the hallway.
He continued walking backwards, watching Midas as Midas watched him.
"This was fun." He bit at his lip again, a light laugh falling from him. "We will do it again sometime." He turned, disappearing into a stairwell, Midas standing quickly. Darting towards the stairs, the mans footsteps echoing, too far ahead to be worth the chase. Letting out a huff, Midas shook his head. He needed to figure out exactly who he was dealing with.
--
Purple lightning flashed across the sky, Midas watching as he waited for the storm to restart. "His name is Montague," one of the guards told him as they entered the room. They threw a folder on to the table, Midas eagerly flipping through the few pages of information before he frowned.
"Is this all there is?"
The guard nodded. "He hasn't been here long, from what we could find. Started stealing right away. No affiliations, no partners. Targets anyone he can, taking whatever he can."
Midas hummed, studying the picture that was in the folder. Even from a distance, unknowing as his photo was taken, the man looked cocky. Suddenly the sky cleared, storm giving way to pale moonlight, clouds rolling quickly away as the loop was reset. He sighed, exiting the room to make his way through the building. Wanting fresh air, while he had the time. Wondering when he would try and enter the Agency again.
--
Midas frowned, commotion drawing his attention the the lobby. His first thought was that Montague had returned, finally. The sound of gunshots rang out, shouting between different people before he rolled his eyes. Not Montague, but others stuck in the loop. Looking to gain access to the vault, no doubt. Taking a set of stairs that led him towards the fighting, he watched from the doorway as one of his guards went down. Not worried, knowing they would be back soon enough. Two people were gunned down, a small card falling in their place. With a sigh, he watched the fight continue, joining in when too many of his guards had been killed.
The fight didn't last long, Loopers easily being killed by him this time. With a roll of his eyes, he made his way back to his vault, unaware of the eyes that followed him. Eager for a drink, knowing the storm would hit soon enough, deterring others from trying. He flashed his key card, the door slowly opening as he made his way in, pouring whiskey into a glass before he settled himself on the couch.
He leaned his head back, letting his eyes close as he let his mind wander. His plans were slowly coming together, GHOST and SHADOW still working against each other, everyone playing the parts he had designed for them perfectly. Keeping the IO off of his back. For now at least.
He flinched as he felt cold metal press against his neck, eyes opening to see Montague peering down at him from above. He still had his smug little smirk on his face, Midas frowning at the urge he had to smack it off.
His voice was soft as he finally spoke. "You do not seem too upset by your guards being killed." Midas raised a brow at that.
"Why would I? They'll be back." Now it was Montague's turn to frown. "The Loop will reset, storm pushed off once again, and they'll all be back." He seen the look of confusion on his face, gently pushing the knife away from his neck. He raised a brow at the look. "Have you not died yet?"
Montague slowly lowered the knife, tilting his head. Midas's head was still leaned back against the couch as he watched him. "Obviously I have not died. I am here right now."
With a humourless laugh, Midas rubbed a hand over his face. "In an unfortunate twist of fate, we are stuck in what's known as the Loop. Over and over, the storm crosses the island. Over and over, people come to try and break into the vault here. And no matter what, whether I kill them or they kill me and my men, we all come back to do it again. It's the same for everyone on the island."
Montague seemed to ponder his words, eyes glancing around the vault. Midas flinched again as he felt the sharp tip of the knife trace over his throat once more, a shiver coursing through him at the cool touch. Montague seemed to watch him intently, a look of curiosity in his eyes. "So if I were to kill you right now," he murmured, Midas sucking in a breath as he felt the mans fingers trace over his jaw, light but meant to hold his head in place. "I could take whatever I wanted and you would come back.. In an hour? In a day?"
Midas let out a heavy breath, something other than nerves curling in his stomach at the way Montague's eyes traced over him. He felt his cheeks heat slightly as he nodded, knowing it was shaky at best. Letting out a small breath as Montague leaned forward, feeling the heat of his breath against his ear as he spoke. "No hard feelings then, yes?"
A flash of pain shot through him, everything disappearing around him. Feeling himself lost in the same limbo as he always was when the Loopers managed to best him and his guards, confusion radiating through him before he was opening his eyes, gasping in a breath as he took in the room around him. Back in his office, overlooking the table with the interactive map. The sun was shining outside, storm gone for now.
With a scowl, he stood quickly making his way to the vault. Waiting impatiently as the door slowly unlocked, entering the room to take in the contents. A painting missing from the wall, a stack of gold bars gone. One of his guns missing from it's case. Next time he seen Montague, he would make sure to kill him back.
--
A few more weeks had passed, the anger at Montague killing him simmering as he focused on building his device. The stress was continuing to mount as the war waged on between his two factions, trying to keep them occupied with each other as he focused on his task. Praying with every second that the IO wouldn't figure out his plan.
Once again, he found himself waking up in the middle of the night, back aching from where he had fallen asleep in his chair. Looking to stretch his limbs, he left the building, walking around the grounds of the Agency in the peace of the night, no one trying to attack. He entered the building again when he seen the storm forming the distance, heading for the vault. Once again looking for a drink. Wondering if he should cut back before he shook his head. He could worry about that once he pushed the storm away.
He stilled at the sight of the open door, hearing the sounds of someone searching through the vault. Checking his pocket, surprised to find his key card missing. He slowly crept forward, rolling his eyes at the sight of Montague sliding something into his pocket.
"Came back for more, did you?" He smirked as he watched the man flinch slightly, satisfaction filling him knowing he had managed to catch him off guard. Raising one of his guns to him, he nodded towards the mans pockets. "Might as well empty those out now. No sense in them getting lost while you wait to come back."
Walking forwards when Montague didn't move, he reached into his pocket, rolling his eyes as he pulled out golden items that he had slipped inside. Stupid little things that Midas had turned gold when he had first started working on getting his power under control, testing it out. What used to be a deck of cards, a pen, a lighter. All solid gold now.
He pressed the gun against Montague's forehead, relishing in the look of surprise and fear that crossed his face. "Still haven't died yet?" He tilted his head, waiting for an answer before Montague slowly shook his head. "Have you ever wondered what it feels like?" At that, Montague remained still, eyes locked onto Midas as they observed each other. Clicking back the hammer, their eyes never leaving each other as a shaky breath left the thief. His finger itched to pull the trigger, pay back for killing him. A twitch of his finger was all that was needed, Montague disappearing until the Loop reset.
Something stayed his hand, watching the way Montague's eyes slowly closed as he let out a small breath. Trying to ready himself. With a growl, he shoved the gun back in its holster, turning quickly to walk towards the liqour cabinet. He poured himself a glass, glancing over his shoulder as Montague watched him, eyes wide and unblinking. "Did you want one?" He watched the mans eyes flick towards the open vault door. "The storm will be here soon, if it's not already. You won't survive if you get caught in it."
Eyes flicking back to Midas before he gave a slight nod. "Then I guess I have no choice but to stay." Pouring a second glass, Midas walked back to him, pressing it into his hand. Reaching into his other pocket, pulling the key card out of it as the man frowned.
"When did you get this, anyways?" He settled himself on the couch, leaning back against the arm rest. At the question, the man smirked, letting himself fall onto the other end.
"While you were sleeping in your chair. You really should not do that so often, you are too old for that, no?"
At that, Midas scoffed, downing the rest of his drink. "I am not that old. And I'm busy, sometimes it can't be helped." Montague laughed at his reaction, light but genuine. Midas felt like the liqour was working too quickly, heart beating faster at the sound.
"What are you busy with?" Montague leaned forward on the couch, and Midas was instantly on alert. Watching the way he moved, trying to read if he was genuinely interested or digging for information. What if he was working with the IO? Taking in Midas's reaction, Montague frowned, tilting his head slightly. "Did I overstep?"
With a curt nod, Midas stood, pouring more liqour into his cup. When he turned, Montague was holding his out as well, waiting for Midas to top up his glass. "I'm working on a lot of things. I run an organization called GHOST. We .. Collect information, you could say." Wondering why he felt the need to let him know even a little bit of what he did. Montague hummed, watching him intently as he took a sip of his drink.
"How long have you been doing that?" At that, Midas laughed lightly, shaking his head.
"How long have you been here?"
Montague seemed to pause, brows furrowing as he thought about it. "I .. I am not sure." He seemed pensive as he stared at the cushions between them. "Why do you not just leave? What if I were to leave?"
"You can't. Or you can try, and then you'll die. And then you'll come back somewhere on the island, and probably die a few more times. You get used to it after a while, however annoying it is."
"Well then," Montague sighed. He stretched backwards, Midas's eyes locking onto the skin of his stomach as it was exposed, feeling his mouth go dry. Shaking his head as he looked away, he set his glass down on the floor, unfinished. Deciding that he had drank enough for tonight. Turning back, he found he other mans eyes on him, smirk back on his face. Feeling like he had been caught, he scowled as he glanced away. The couch shifted as Montague leaned forward. "What is there to do for fun around here then?"
Midas let out a shaky breath, unused to the feelings that were shooting through him. He watched as Montague's eyes flicked down to his lips, back up again. "I don't have fun. I have a business to run and a war to win." Montague grinned at that, leaning further forward, enjoying the way Midas's breath seemed to catch as he slowly crossed over his knees, pushing into Midas's space. Continuing forward, his face drawing closer. A daring look in his eyes, that stupid little smirk still on his face. He registered Montague's hand moving, doing something, too focused on the way his lips ghosted over his jaw, breath hot on his skin before he felt a sharp pain again.
Growling as he awoke back in his office, shooting out of his chair to slam his fist into the wall. No point in checking the vault, he already knew there would be more things missing. Next time he wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.
--
He didn't need to wait long, Montague showing up less than week later. Casually strolling through the halls of the Agency. He scowled at the cockiness, wondering how he had managed to avoid all of the guards. Unless he killed them. That wouldn't surprise him at this point. He watched the man pause as he seen Midas, a grin forming on his face. "No hard feelings, right?" Montague asked, watching Midas pull his gun again. Confident after their last exchange that he wouldn't actually follow through.
Midas clicked the hammer back, pulling the trigger as he watched Montague's eyes widen. Bullet hitting his target with ease, the man disappearing quickly. With a roll of his eyes, he continued through the building, pressing into his ear piece to check on the guards. No answer. Montague must have managed to kill them then.
He groaned in annoyance as he heard the sound of gun fire, people fighting each other while searching for him to access the vault. Knowing that he wouldn't be able to hold them off by himself. He turned a corner, entering the lobby of the building and was bombarded with gun shots. Dodging what he could, trying to take down as many people as possible before he felt a flash of pain, held in limbo as he waited for the Loop to reset. Rolling his eyes as soon as he found himself sitting at his desk, once more.
--
Footsteps echoed down the stairs loudly, causing Midas to raise his brow. The storm had started to form not long ago, quickly making it's way forward to cover the building. With a sigh, he glanced over his shoulder, waiting for who ever it was to appear. Montague rounded the corner, storming into the vault that Midas was relaxing in. This time it was his turn to smirk at the man, enjoying the anger that flashed across his face.
"That was rude," Montague bit out as soon as he seen Midas.
"Oh, look who's alive and well. That's rich, coming from you. You've killed me twice now, I've only killed you once." He raised his glass as he stood. "Do you want one, or are you going to try and kill me again."
With a frown, Montague crossed his arms, staring at Midas. A multitude of emotions crossing his face before he rolled his eyes, letting himself fall onto the couch. "Pour me a glass, I will hold off on killing you for tonight."
"The smartest thing I've heard you say yet," Midas muttered to himself. He heard Montague scoff, grinning at the annoyance that seemed to radiate from him. Handing him his glass, he let himself settle onto the couch, both watching each other. Suddenly, Montague stood, heading towards the vault door. "Where are you going?" Midas asked, standing to follow.
With a look over his shoulder, Montague grinned. "To explore. I do not plan to sit in a vault all night long if I can not steal anything." Midas trailed him as he wandered through the halls, somehow managing to avoid all the guards that were still on duty. Midas wondered how long he had watched the building to figure out their rotations, to know where to go to stay undetected. He would need to switch things up, hoping it would throw off the others as well.
Montague continued upwards until he reached Midas's office, entering with a quick grin flashed back at Midas as he started to protest. On edge, wondering if he was looking for information. Everything about his device kept well hidden, still nervous of being found out before he could enact his plan. Montague circled around the table, hand trailing softly over it before he pressed one of the buttons, eyes widening as the map came to life. Holographic depictions of the towns and mountains, water moving through the rivers and lakes. He leaned forward, eyes tracing over everything.
"What is this?" He pointed to spots marked with green.
Wondering just how much he should trust the man with, he found himself answering anyways. "That's bases for my team." The man hummed, eyes scanning the map, locking onto spots marked with red.
"And this?"
Midas paused, tilting his head. "Bases I've found of the people we're fighting against." Technically still his team, but that would be kept to himself. He continued asking questions, Midas remaining on edge but answering what he could before he finally started asking questions himself. They continued like that, back and forth, before Montague finally placed his empty glass on the edge of the table. Midas was standing by his side now, pointing out different spots he had found that were nice to go to, that had shelter if the storm came while he was there.
Montague watched him speak, Midas overly aware of the way his eyes flicked down to his lips, back up to meet his eyes. Breath catching as Montague leaned forwards, too close. "I am sure those places can be fun, but that is not something that can be done right now." Emboldened by the liqour, Midas let himself lean forward as well, not missing the way Montague sucked in a breath.
"Then what did you have in mind?"
He could see Montague's chest move with shallow breaths, waiting for him to decide. Midas would play his game if that was what he wanted. Watching his eyes dart down once more to his lips, his hand coming to trace along Midas's jaw. He let out a soft breath as Montague started to lean forwards, lips ghosting across each other, giving Midas the option to pull away. He pressed forward, drinking in the sound that left Montague as he deepened their kiss. Hands slid over his shoulder, his own guiding Montague by the waist to adjust their positions, pressing him back against the table while he slipped between his legs.
Heart racing at the feeling of their lips working against each other. Too long without feeling something like this. He slipped his hand into Montague's pocket, throwing the knife that was there onto the floor. Montague broke the kiss, a light laugh leaving him as his eyes met Midas's. "I would not kill you now."
"Can't be too careful, can I?"
Montague bit his lip lightly, grinning at the words. "No, you can not." Pressing forward once again, pulling Midas closer by his hips. The taste of him was intoxicating, Midas quickly losing himself to the kiss before breaking it, mouth working down the mans neck as he tilted his head back. A soft sound falling from Montague at the feeling of Midas's mouth on him, at the feeling of his hips shifting forward, something pressing into him. Groaning when he slipped his hands under Midas's shirt, biting down on the skin on his shoulder.
Soft sounds filled the room as they continued, unaware that the storm had passed. When they were done, Midas watched Montague as he buttoned his pants back up, shirt slipped back on. He glanced out of the window, making a surprised sound.
"Looks like our fun has indeed passed the time," Montague murmured, looking out onto the grounds of the Agency. He smirked over his shoulder, Midas's eyes heavy on him. Heart still racing, the desire to know more about the man filling him. He watched as Montague made his way to the door, opening it quietly before he looked back. "I will see you around, I am sure." Midas nodded, watching him leave. Finding himself hoping he returned soon.
--
Midas found himself trailing after Montague after he had returned to the Agency once again, wondering where the man stayed when he wasn't stealing. He followed him to a small abandoned house, just across the lake. Hidden by trees, just out of sight of his building. He watched as Montague entered the house, marking the location in his head to return to another day. Now it would be his turn to explore.
Waiting for the storm to pass, Midas left the building as soon as he could, taking one of his vehicles towards the house. Parking along the edge of the forest, waiting patiently until he seen Montague leave. Creeping forwards to let himself into the house. Eyes landing on a golden deck on cards, rolling his eyes as he wondered when Montague had managed to steal them again. Paintings hung along the wall, recognizing some.
He wandered through, looking for any information he could find on the man. Nothing stuck out to him, and he felt disappointment flash through him. Through a door that led to a small back yard, a little garden set up. He felt his lips twitch up in a small smile at the thought of Montague taking care of them.
He turned to head back inside, freezing at the sight of Montague leaning against the door frame. "Is there something you are looking for?"
"Nothing in particular." He pushed past Montague, letting himself back inside. "Actually, I was wondering if I could ask a favour. I need to access some information. I'm hoping you can get it for me."
Montague hummed, smirking. "I may be able to do that. What will I get in return?"
Watching each other silently, Midas shrugged. "Whatever you want."
"And what is this information for?"
"I'm curious about what information they have on me." He knew Jules had suspected something else was going on, knew she was playing both sides just as he was. Like father, like daughter. "I'll show you where to find it."
Seeming to mull over the decision, Montague finally smirked. "I suppose I can do that. I will let you know what I want in return when I decide." With a roll of his eyes, Midas motioned for him to follow, leading them out of the house towards the car.
"It entirely depends on how much information you can get." He heard a soft laugh come from behind him, glancing over his shoulder.
"I will get everything they have."
--
Montague slipped into the room, Midas glancing up to watch as he softly shut the door behind him. He had been staring at the map, letting his mind wander. The Device was almost done, final pieces coming together. Almost ready to launch the countdown. He wondered if he should let Montague know what was coming, deciding to wait. Still unsure if he could trust him. A thick folder of papers was dropped onto the table, Midas raising a brow at it.
"They seem to be very interested in keeping tabs on you."
He hummed at that, chewing at the inside of his lip. Opening the folder, scanning through the pages quickly. Jules was efficient at collecting information, there was no doubt about it. Frowning at the sight of pictures taken from a distance of him working on the Device, blocked by his body. Taken before he had moved it underground. No way for them to know what it was, but it seemed she had guessed there was something else going on.
"What did you want as your payment?" Midas asked, distracted as he continued scanning the papers. Movement caught his attention, Montague leaning against the table beside him, eyes trained on him. Fingers traced over his jaw, tilting Midas's head up towards the other man.
"I have a few ideas, but there is something else I want first." Midas felt himself flush lightly, heart racing at the suggestion behind the words. Wondering why Montague seemed to affect him like he did.
Standing, he guided Montague back so he was sitting on the table, pressing himself between his legs. Smirking down at him as the man bit his lip, hand sliding down Midas's chest. "And what is it you want right now then?" He felt Montague's hand glide down to his belt, eyes fluttering shut as he slowly undid it. A tug at his tie made him open his eyes, Montague pulling him closer.
"Just a bit of fun," he purred. Midas groaned as he leaned forward, pressing their lips together. His hands gripped at Montague's waist, slipping under his shirt before he pulled at it, tugging it over his head before Montague was unbuttoning his. A shuddering breath left him at the feeling of Montague's fingers in his hair, pulling him back down, guiding his head to his neck instead, letting him kiss wetly across his skin. Nerves on fire with every touch that Montague laid on him, finding himself wanting more.
A laugh fell from Montague as Midas shoved the papers off the table, pushing his shoulders to lay him back. Surprised to find himself smiling at the sound, wanting to hear it again. Quickly shedding the rest of their clothes, eyes heavy as he watched Montague move against him. Not realizing the storm had started to pass over them.
When they were finished, both clothed once more, Montague watched as Midas shuffled through the papers, waiting for the storm to pass. Suddenly, the door was flung open, a guard bursting into the room.
"Sir, we have reason to believe Montague may be -" He paused, words dying in his throat at the sight of Montague in a chair next to Midas, feet kicked up on the desk.
"You're a little late for that." The guard seemed to flounder, unsure of what to do next. With a sigh, Midas looked back to the papers. "Don't worry about him from now on. He can come and go as he pleases here." Ignoring both the look of confusion from the guard and the grin that was now on Montague's face, the guard gave a curt nod before stepping out of the room, door shutting softly behind him.
"I can come and go as I please, can I?" Montague chuckled lightly, eyes on Midas. "And here I thought I was already doing that."
Midas rolled his eyes, tossing papers towards the man. "Look through these. I'm looking for any mention of a secret project." Montague continued to smirk, fingers brushing against Midas's as he took the papers. Neither mention the small huff of air that left Midas at the man's touch, or the way his eyes continued to flick over to him, watching as he bit at lip, scanning through the papers Midas had given him.
--
Midas watched as Montague seemed to saunter across the deck of the ship, finding himself entranced with his movements. Breath catching as he settled himself down across Midas's legs, reaching over to the table to pick up the glass that rested there.
"So you can come here whenever you wish, and instead you spend all of your time in that building?" A light scoff left the man at that, shaking his head. "Incroyable."
Midas rolled his eyes at that, letting his hands brush across the mans legs, coming to rest on his waist. Thumb tracing over the bared skin there. "I usually have a lot of work to do, I just managed to find some time for this." The Device was near finished, the last touches being put into place by his men. All that was needed was a final once over, a press of the button and the Storm could be pushed back. Loop finally broken. Free to live his life as he chose. His heart beat quickened at the realization he wanted to keep Montague around even after.
He opened his mouth, watching as Montague tilted his head back to finish the drink that he held. Wanting to tell him. His stomach twisted, letting his mouth snap shut again. It was too close to being done. Paranoia from his plans setting in now, imagining the IO finding him out. He knew Montague wasn't working with them. He knew it. But still, he couldn't find it in him to divulge the information. Nothing could get in the way of breaking the Loop, no matter how much he wanted to.
"You should focus less on your work and more on enjoying your life," Montague murmured, grazing his lips across Midas's cheek as he returned the glass to the table. "There are many things to enjoy here." His chest fluttered as Montague leaned back again.
"There will be even more soon," he promised. Just as Montague opened his mouth, brow raised in confusion, a crack of thunder echoed loudly through the sky. The both of them flinching at the closeness. He leaned forward, looking to the sky past the ship before he sighed. Purple clouds seemed to form instantly, slowly creeping forward over the ocean towards them. He stood, motioning for the man to follow him inside. Knowing they wouldn't be able to make it back to the Agency before it hit them.
Following him in, they worked to close what windows they could. Smirking at the way Montague jumped every time thunder crashed around them. Lightning flared through the clouds, and Midas guided them up to the helm of the ship. It was rare for him to be on there when the Storm hit the island. Rare to be able to be in a place where he could have large glass windows surrounding them, letting them observe the wrath of the storm in safety. After a few moments, Montague tugged on his hand, leading him up to the very top level. He crawled onto the bed, patting the mattress beside him for Midas to join.
Letting himself fall next to Montague, he turned, watching the Storm through the large skylight windows. Glancing over when he felt Montague shift, tucking himself under his arm, pulling his hand down to rest across his chest. He let his hand trace patterns across Montague's skin, both remaining quiet as they watched purple clouds roil with the lightning. Soon enough, the Storm would pass, and he would need to return to the Agency. For now though, he was content to lay here with Montague. An odd feeling tightened his chest as he felt Montague's lips brush lightly against his skin before his head turned back to the sky, and he felt his heart beat quicken, pressing his lips softly to the mans head.
--
With a nod, Midas signaled for the guards to leave. The countdown had been started, Device ready. It was finally time to get rid of the storm once and for all. Put an end to the Loop. He pressed the button, quickly exiting the building. Heart racing as bubbles started to form in the lake. Deciding the go to the abandoned house Montague was in, finally ready to let him know what was happening. If he somehow was working with the IO, there was no way for him to stop Midas now.
He crossed the land in a car, pulling up just outside of the trees that hid the house. He entered the house, calling out to try and find Montague. No answer came. With a frown, he searched the house and through the back yard, wondering where he was. Maybe he had found another house to rob.
He pulled his phone out, dialing Montague's number. One of the few that he had saved now. He picked up on the second ring, sounding confused as he answered. "What are these towers outside your building?"
At the words, Midas's chest felt like it had caved in, stomach twisting. "Where are you?" He tried to breath in, feeling like he couldn't get a proper breath of air.
"I am at the Agency? I came to see you. Where are you?"
"Get out of there right now. Right now."
Montague must have been able to hear the fear that was in his voice, quick footsteps heard through the phone as he started to run through the building. Midas was already running through the trees, trying to get to the car. The towers were fully emerged around the building now, panic settling in his chest as he felt a tremor shake through the ground. Helpless to watch as an explosion destroyed the rear of the Agency. One after the other, the building falling in on itself, crumbling away as the Device rose through the rubble.
Putting the phone to his ear, he tried to suck in air as he listened to the sound of the dial tone. Knowing no one would answer even as he called Montague's name into the phone.
--
Memories seemed to race through Midas as he gasped, watching golden blood drip from the stump of his arm. He tried to rise on shaking legs, body weak from the fight he had been in. Watching Kado hold his hand up, inspecting it in the moonlight. One final slight before his death.
He thought of Jules, her disappointed look as she finally told him she was done playing his games. Not looking back as she left him behind. The thought of his team, no longer working together, spread across the island, barely talking. Wishing he had decided to band them together again, wondering if it would have changed his outcome. Thought of the failure of his Device, storm raging against him, the flood that crossed the island as payback for thinking he could force the storm away. The sight of the Agency falling, knowing Montague had been buried somewhere in the rubble. Dead. His fault.
Wondering how many deaths he had caused with all of his plans. He felt his heart stutter, weakly now as he tried to gasp in air. Kado frowned in front of him, touching the golden hand he held to his gun. Metal staying the same. A laugh bubbled out of his chest, almost manic. He could feel his heartbeat fading, different this time. A real death, knowing that he wouldn't come back from this one. Glad that even though he was about to die, Kado still wouldn't get what he had been so desperately searching for.
--
He groaned awake, cold dampness surrounding him. The room he was in was dark, arms chained above his head. A man stood in front of him, covered by a mask.
"Welcome home, King Midas. I have been waiting patiently for your return."
He could hear the sound of souls crying out as they floated through the river that surrounded the building. Eyes drifting shut as he prayed he was imagining things. A horrible nightmare he just needed to wake from. Opening his eyes, the masked man still in front of him. A harsh laugh filled the cell.
"We're going to have a lot of fun together, you and I." The door swung shut, heavy metal clanging together before locks clicked into place. He yanked weakly on the chains, trying to will his power to turn them to gold. Nothing. No heat in his hand, unable to feel his power within him anymore. The feeling of fear twisting in his chest before a realization struck. He couldn't feel his heartbeat, couldn't feel the pulse of energy flowing through him. He tried yanking on the chains again, desperation filling him. With a groan of despair, he slumped against the wall, overwhelmed with the slew of emotions that filled him.

Coinage
Coins were introduced as a method of payment around the 6th or 5th century BCE. The invention of coins is still shrouded in mystery: According to Herodotus (I, 94), coins were first minted by the Lydians, while Aristotle claims that the first coins were minted by Demodike of Kyrme, the wife of King Midas of Phrygia. Numismatists consider that the first coins were minted on the Greek island of Aegina, either by the local rulers or by King Pheidon of Argos.
Aegina, Samos, and Miletus all minted coins for the Egyptians, through the Greek trading post of Naucratis in the Nile Delta. It is certain that when Lydia was conquered by the Persians in 546 BCE, coins were introduced to Persia. The Phoenicians did not mint any coins until the middle of the fifth century BCE, which quickly spread to the Carthaginians who minted coins in Sicily. The Romans only started minting coins from 326 BCE.
Coins were brought to India through the Achaemenid Empire, as well as the successor kingdoms of Alexander the Great. Especially the Indo-Greek kingdoms minted (often bilingual) coins in the 2nd century BCE. The most beautiful coins of the classical age are said to have been minted by Samudragupta (335-376 CE), who portrayed himself as both a conqueror and a musician.
The first coins were made of electrum, an alloy of silver and gold. It appears that many early Lydian coins were minted by merchants as tokens to be used in trade transactions. The Lydian state also minted coins, most of the coins mentioning King Alyattes of Lydia. Some Lydian coins have a so-called legend, a sort of dedication. One famous example found in Caria reads "I am the badge of Phanes" - it is still unclear who Phanes was.
In China, gold coins were first standardized during the Qin Dynasty (221-207 BCE). After the fall of the Qin dynasty, the Han emperors added two other legal tenders: silver coins and "deerskin notes", a predecessor of paper currency which was a Chinese invention.

If awbtl was made into a muppet remake which muppets would play which characters and who would be the token human actor
oh god . I've put too much thought into this. I am decidedly a muppets casual please go easy on me if I've broken any of the Muppet laws. Full thing under the cut
J would probably be the token human- J is a normal person from earth cast into a captalist hell world with a bigass robot in it. That strikes me as very token human in a muppets movie. No clue who would play J. I don't know actors.
One would be Gonzo. My reasons-
-would start a game of life feud with someone due to dumb luck
-blue
-vaguely nonbinary
-unclear species
Midas & Lisa would be Statler & Waldorf- I think it would be fun to imagine them heckling people together. Midas's like the provincial champion of complaining and Lisa desperately needs an outlet for her lawyer anxieties (anxieties that lawyers have). Also they're the two most humanish muppets I can think of. Also they're both pairs of old people.
Archer would be Animal but I don't feel like elaborating on that. Paul would be Fozzie or some other, more secret muppet, that they only tell you about if you watch every film ten times in a row.
Aleks would be Kermit, Evlyn would be Miss Piggy. They'll be fine. They're a perfect couple. Both pairings are also green and pink! Aleks is also Kermit because they both seem sad and pathetic. Wait Kermit I didn't mean that I'm sorry mr. The frog.
Ed and Bel would be bunsen and beaker. They both have the rectangle and circle. Thing. And they're nigh inseperable- or would be if they weren't in capitalist hell world.
Bard suggested Pathos could be some spider from a Muppet Christmas Carol, but I didn't know who that was so my brain went straight to PATHOS IS THE AMERICAN EAGLE. just leaving you with that thought. Good night.

With time, and with so many new ideas from various people, I think it's about time for a list of some more new moves for the EE cast that we've come up with since we made the original ones!
New Moves: Updated!
Molly
Dumb Luck (Orbit-Class Move): Molly creates an aura of dumb luck, manipulating probability in her favour to create ridiculous coincidences and miracles.
Trap Bubble (Orbit-Class Move): Molly traps an instance of energy, such as an impact, a fire, or an energy-based attack inside of a bubble. At any time, she can dispel the trap bubble and release the stored instance of energy.
Giovanni
Manifests Behind You (Orbit-Class Move): Seizing control over a body of liquid no smaller than a puddle, Giovanni can teleport to that body of water from anywhere within a set range.
Broth-ers In Arms (Orbit-Class Move): Giovanni creates soup creatures from puddles of Primordial Soup! Can range from small grunts to giant monsters, and even simulacrums of himself at high-enough Proficiency!
Dark Luck (Orbit-Class Move): Giovanni creates a soup (definition: a chaotic or unfortunate situation) by manipulating the luck of another person or object to cause catastrophes surrounding it.
Hey Did You Know Soup Can Also Mean Nitroglycerin Because I Sure Didn't (Orbit-Class Move): Uh, explosive soup. Explosive soup, I guess, what
From @tired1mmortal :
Boiling Point: Giovanni points a finger gun and fires a razor-thin jet of soup from it! He can do this with multiple fingers at once to create webs of scalding jets that can even slice through objects at high Proficiency!
From @asquared-ohgodnotthehorrors :
Hellish Hurricane (Orbit-Class Move): Giovanni conjures a massive, swirling cloud of steam, essentially creating a small microclimate out of soup. The cloud can heal allies and batter foes with acidic rain, starchy sleet, bony hail, or even soup lightning!
From an old post of @epitheterasedgen 's:
Sending Soup: Giovanni reaches out to someone he knows by influencing their bowl of alphabet soup, rearranging the letters to spell messages.
Sylvie
Night Terrors (Orbit-Class Move): Sylvie unleashes Nightmare Fuel on a large group of targets at once. Probably uses a lot of Stamina, and its effectiveness is as usual dependent on how tired each target is.
Dream Deep (Orbit-Class Move): Sylvie knocks himself out, summoning not just Dr Beefton, but an entire small dream world to his defence. Definitely not something he can easily recover from after using.
From @tired1mmortal :
Dream Journal (Orbit-Class Move): Sylvie summons creatures and objects from dreams he remembers, such as Dr Beefton, without needing to become tired or knock himself out. Can only summon recent or recurring dreams.
Ramsey
Art Fraud (Orbit-Class Move): From our Epitome ideas, Ramsey teleports to a nearby location, leaving a solid gold statue of himself in his place to distract foes.
From @tired1mmortal :
Midas' Throne (Orbit-Class Move): Ramsey turns an entire area around him into gold temporarily, allowing him to manipulate the environment to create objects and attack foes within it. Definitely costs a lot of Stamina.
Rick
Technically Teamwork: Rick's bonds with his friends empower them when close to each other.
A Bond Once Thought Gone: Rick calls upon a bond that was once severed. As long as the former friend isn't now an enemy, he can channel powers from that bond, if only for a moment.
The Old Cliche: In a moment of extreme danger, Rick channels all of his Stamina and Proficiency into his friend, sacrificing his remaining power to protect them.
From @tired1mmortal :
Tokens of Friendship: By carrying a token of his friendship with someone; a friendship bracelet, a gift, or otherwise; Rick can increase the distance of his bond with that friend, and possibly even enhance their powers!
The Friends of My Friends: Rick can share his friends' powers with each other as long as they're also friends, and he can also gain powers from the friends of his friends as long as they're not enemies.
The Worst Thing About Betrayal: Rick willingly severs his bond with a friend, in the process heavily hindering them and rendering them vulnerable.

Scythe chapter 11-15
You know the drill!! Cmon!!!
Chapter 11!!
-I always forget the conclave’s have names,,,
-The thing is, you can never blame these people for fighting back, it’s human nature, but OUGH the consequences of human nature are so devastating
-But just imagine the guilt you’d feel, your husband got killed and you get immune from the same fate for a whole year. That’s just prime for survivors guilt
-Also the fact that Faraday told the family the man didn’t resist is just testament to his kindness and compassion
-“The sanctity of the law…And the wisdom to know when it must be broken.” *Stares at Goddard*
-MILK SCENE, I unironically love this scene even tho I think it’s really funny
-Also I genuinely don’t know how ppl drink milk b4 bed, is that even a real thing? How does that make you sleepy??
-Also good on Faraday!! Don’t waste shit!!!
-Apparently all the Scythe Rings are white but I refuse to acknowledge that, they’re all multicolored and each color relates to the scythe in some way <3
-That ring security system Faraday has going on is sick as fuck tho ngl
-“Now let’s see how long it takes Rowan to go for the ring.” I love himmmm, he’s fun!!! He can be fun!!
-Tonist mention!! I love the Tonists <33
-Nice chapter!! Gives more depth to Faraday!!
Chapter 12!!
-Rowan and Citra’s test are approaching!!!
-The idea of having to hold yourself back in life because you’re afraid of being killed is actually terrifying—
-Also same Rowan, I hate studying too
-“Rowan concluded that not knowing was more terrifying than knowing.” If I remember correctly what the consequence is then that is CERTAIN true
-I LOVE Citra and Rowan’s banter here!! You can see their chemistry early on!!
-UGH I WONT LIST OUT ALL THE MOMENT BUT THEYRE SO CUTE!!!
-Cute chapter! Lots of Citran moments!
Chapter 13!!
-“I’m a human being, not a mole.” Faraday is soooo fun sometimes like so fun and endearing???
-“Destroyed back in the age of mortality by something called ‘terrorism’.” OKAY SO YES THIS DOES GIVE US A LOT TO THINK ABOUT IN TERMS OF WHAT PEOPLE HERE KNOW ABOUT THE AGE OF MORTALITY BUT ALSO THAT IS RLLY FUCKING FUNNY SOOO
-I too hate walking at 6:30 am (I go to public school in America)
-“I have found that with the Scythedom, it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission,” He is iconic yall
-“What’s the worst they could do?” Things said before disasters—
-“Running the gauntlet” Like walking the red carpet!
-“Scythes wished to be seen as the many faces of light, not of darkness.” And soon they will be! Yk, just right after the plague—
-SCYTHE CURIE OMG OMG!!
-OO now they’re seeing scythe goddard ohoho I LOVE HAVING FORESIGHT
-Citra would cringe at the fact she at one point dazzled by goddard
-Rowan don’t be fatphobic /j
-I like that the conclave’s are pretty boring for the most part, makes it feel more realistic
-I love how only when Citra becomes a Scythe does she begin to understand these rituals, shows how much she grows
-OHOHO we got goddards fuckin note bullshit! Citra is gonna hear allll about that when she becomes a scythe
-Love how Chomsky is basically described as “as white as anyone could be” lmaoo token white man
-also gun lobby, nothing to say about it just…Gun lobby
-Rowan starting to talk like faraday is GOLD
-Again I love Citra and Rowan’s banter
-SCYTHE CURIE
-The idea of the weaponsmaster being a infomercial salesman is SOO funny i need to use that in my scythe oc shit
-Also that digital poison sounds fucking TERRIFYING
-The Scythes not liking the term ‘victim’ is rlly interesting to me, shows they really think of themselves as these faces of light
-Neal I don’t think you know what feminine hygiene products sound like—
-Hand of midas shit but even MORE horrifying!!
-I am terrible with names I saw Scythe Mandela and thought he was Scythe Possuelo and I have no idea why
-Who names their child Ransom??
-VERY good and long chapter!! Two more to go!!

For those who don't know, I've been thinking and planning a Lightlark fan-rewrite for months, and I've been having a REALLY rough time figuring out what exactly to do with Azul (basically because he was just created to be the token representation points character). I also don't want to just erase him, but I really have no clue.
If any of yall have any ideas, please comment them (TT_TT)
For now, I will share my ideas for powers and curses for each of the characters, ranging them from most similar to their canon counterparts to least similar.
For context: The regents have their communities elemental powers, as well as specific powers connected to their bloodline
Oro: Midas Touch and Fire Manipulation, cursed to burn under the light of the sun
Celeste: Astrological Divination and Light Manipulation, Cursed to die at 25.
Grimm: Shadow Mimicry (turn himself into shadows) and Shadow Manipulation, Cursed to meld with the shadows if he uses his powers for too long
Cleo: Hypnos (put people to sleep) and Water Manipulation, Cursed to drown during the next full moon
Isla: Strong Understanding of Nature (which may represent itself as animal languages, potionology or magical botany, depends on the individual) and Plant Manipulation, Cursed to become a heart eating beast if she feels too many emotions
This was a rough overview, so if yall have any doubts ask and I'll explain. Thank you so much!!!

4.) what would you say is the message, if there is one.
frankly there is a significant overlap between CW and GD's messages. let's go down the list
trapping someone in a miserable place only continues the cycles of abuse and pain.
the bad things that happened to you really were that bad. you're not crazy. you're right to be angry. those grownups did fail you.
you can't fix someone. you can only love them.
dying for love usually just looks a whole lot like regular dying
you deserved better than you got; someone's gotta say it sometime cuz it's true. people should have told you you were awesome instead of taking advantage of you.
living your whole life assuming you'll die young makes it incredibly scary to acknowledge the fact that youll keep living, but you have to rise up to it. and you wont rise up alone
one day the sadness will end.
12.) okay be honest. pick a favorite oc from this ocverse.
Tumblr media
i do the most with sicely but i gotta be honest. miss hero complex is the number one in my heart
23.) describe how everyones character gets butchered once in the public eye?
Sicely - CRANKY. spicy latina trope. verbally berating and doesn't actually like any of their friends.
Anthea - i think a lot of people would go some flavor of yandere-lite with anthea and really play up her sweet-but-murdersome angle rather than acknowledge she has very good reasons to be mad
Ari - she'd become the serious nerd who puts up with everyones shenanigans (Rose and Kanaya syndrome). shipped with lucerne only in a token gesture in the bg of opaljiro fics
Lucerne - who
Opal - the fandom darling, he is mischaracterized in ways you didnt even think god could invent. sweet idiot babbu who doesnt know what hes doing or the harm hes causing! no matter what happens people still ship him rosy-style with sicely. opalsicely is like kris x berdly but stupider and way more unhealthy
Jiro - opals boyfriend. his status as this is the primary bastion against opalsicely shippers
Araceli - irredeemable bitch of a woman who is morally worse than the men murdering children bc she doesnt react rationally to the fact that shes trapped in an apocalyptic time loop
Midas - i think a lot of people would, upon knowing midas' true colors, forget that he's a very charismatic and caring person. he'd be treated as a mastermind chessmaster manipulator who never really loved anyone, rather than a guy whose overabundance of emotional reactions causes him to act in manipulative and confining ways
Thomas - uke who has no agency, was forced into helping midas and is secretly really affectionate and sweet and moral deep down. "i can fix him"

Midas of DeFi: Where Real Gold Meets On-Chain Income and Web3’s First RecruitFi Protocol
Tumblr media
In a digital finance world bloated with broken tokenomics and overhyped narratives, Midas of DeFi ($MIDAS) is cutting through the noise—offering a product that’s as elegant as it is powerful: daily payouts in real gold ($PAXG) and Ethereum (ETH), all running permissionlessly on smart contracts.
No staking. No farming. No hidden dashboards. Just logic, code, and a compelling question:
What if your wallet could reflect the value of gold ($PAXG) and print ETH—without lifting a finger?
The Foundation: Real Yield, Real Gold ($PAXG)
Midas redefines passive income in DeFi with a 5% transaction fee split that turns market activity into meaningful rewards:
2.5% goes to PAXG reflections—tokenized, real-world gold ($PAXG), delivered directly to holders.
2.5% supports development, ETH referral payouts, and ecosystem expansion.
There are no lockups or middlemen. If you hold $MIDAS, you earn gold ($PAXG) directly to your wallet. The more volume, the more reflections. It’s simple, scalable, and fully verifiable on-chain.
RecruitFi: The Smart Contract System That Pays in ETH
Enter The Golden Circle—Midas’ Web3-native referral system that automates daily ETH commissions through a 10x10 matrix. Midas calls it RecruitFi, a transparent and decentralized upgrade to legacy network marketing models—powered entirely by smart contracts.
Here’s how it works:
Hold at least $100 worth of $MIDAS.
Register once to receive your unique referral link.
Build your downline—up to 10 levels deep.
Earn daily ETH, calculated and distributed every 24 hours.
No dashboards faking numbers. No team wallets freezing payouts. Just volume = rewards, all verifiable on-chain.
One Protocol. Three Income Rivers.
MIDAS isn’t just a token—it’s a living system of wealth flow.
Every transaction fuels three distinct streams of income:
Price Growth – As the MIDAS ecosystem expands, demand rises, and so does the value of your holdings.
Gold ($PAXG) Reflections – Tokenized gold flows passively to holders from every trade. Real yield, not vapor.
ETH Commissions via RecruitFi – Share your link, grow your network, and earn ETH daily—on-chain, permissionless, unstoppable.
Three streams. One protocol. All working in sync to reward the early, the bold, and the builders.
Platform Tools: Built to Educate, Empower, and Scale
To support growth, Midas has rolled out a suite of tools for users of all experience levels:
Gold ($PAXG) Market Tracker — Real-time price feeds from HyperliquidX + macro AI insights.
Trading Terminal — Swap, view LP stats, and track your downline all in one place.
AI Leaderboards — Gamified rankings show top recruiters and earners.
Education Hub — Designed to onboard normies and guide users through the world of gold ($PAXG), DeFi, and RecruitFi.
Coming Q2 2025: AURUM – The Gold ($PAXG) Market AI Agent
Midas is set to launch Aurum, an AI-powered trading assistant focused on the gold ($PAXG) market. Built to serve both traders and passive earners, Aurum bridges off-chain intelligence with on-chain action.
Key Features:
Technical trend alerts using RSI, MACD, and volume data.
Sentiment analysis from financial media and social platforms.
Predictive insights on how macro gold ($PAXG) moves affect MIDAS volume and rewards.
Education modules to help users hedge inflation and diversify intelligently.
Aurum will integrate directly into the Midas dashboard, Telegram bot, and eventually Virtuals.io.
Honest About Incentives—And Better For It
Let’s face it: most DeFi projects rely on circular mechanics without admitting it. Midas takes a different path—it embraces the network effect openly, while delivering real utility and maintaining full transparency through smart contracts.
It’s not a promise. It’s code.
Why Gold ($PAXG)? Why Now?
With fiat currencies faltering and global instability rising, gold ($PAXG) is reclaiming its position as the world’s most trusted asset. But while others tokenize it for storage, Midas makes it productive—feeding a DeFi engine that pays you in gold ($PAXG) and ETH.
It’s hard money meets smart contracts.
Final Word: A Rare Fusion of Degen Energy and Economic Logic
Whether you’re here for the passive yield, the ETH commissions, or just love the idea of your portfolio earning real gold ($PAXG) on autopilot—Midas is turning heads for the right reasons.
It’s clean. It’s auditable. And yes—it pays.
Midas just redefined the on-chain hustle. Welcome to RecruitFi.

✩ event one: midas family concert
preparations for the midas family concert are kicking off with practices, stage fittings, and filming for concert VCRs. this year's concert is rumored to be "bigger and better" with all artists and groups under midas labels confirmed to be attending. please like this post once read.
in-character dates: JANUARY 28 to FEBRUARY 15 event deadline (for earning tokens): JANUARY 31 to FEB 7 (part one), FEB 10 to FEB 28 MAR 7 (part two)
✩ part one: artist interviews
all artists under midas labels will undergo interviews ahead of the midas family concert. parts of these interviews will be included in VCRs during the concert or used as promotional material leading up to the concert. some of your muse's answers may influence parts of their participation in the concert, as well. the way these interviews will be conducted will be through an ask meme. we thought this was a fun way to conduct this part of the event instead of asking you to simply fill out a questionnaire or write a self-para! all questions and prompts are written by the admin team, and there will be two different categories to choose from: on-camera and b-cut. on-camera answers are what make it into the VCRs: pr-approved answers where your muse's idol persona is turned completely on, while b-cut answers are your muse's real thoughts, unfiltered and unedited. these answers, of course, will not make it into the final VCR, but will hopefully help you display and explore the disconnect between your muse's idol persona and their real-life personality or beliefs. the full list of questions can be found here.
✩ part one: rehearsals
as mentioned in our quarterly schedule post, all artists are beginning rehearsals and practices in preparation for the concert. you may use this as a premise for threads, but please avoid mentioning specific songs or stages until the setlist is revealed in part two.
✩ part two: the concert
the midas labels family concert will take place in-character on february 15 at the gocheok sky dome. you can view the full setlist here. please note we tried our very best to include everyone in a unit while making sure to keep the runtime realistic (following smtown's usual runtime) and to keep the units realistic to what the companies would want. for company-based soloist muses that we could not fit into a unit, we gave you extra solo performances to make up for it — and for group-based soloists without a unit, we gave you a solo performance slot to make up for it. if you're missing from this list, please let us know and we'll do our best to squeeze you in if possible. some pending reserves may not be reflected here, but will be added on following your acceptance. please note that the references above are merely live references for the song itself, but are not reflective of muses' talents, how they're styled, or the stage set-up. styling information can be found on the same page as the setlist. soloist muns can choose their artist's styling as long as it fits their image and is appropriate by their company's standards. an after-party will be hosted by noh jinyoung, a member of PYRO who is still signed to midas labels. the party will be held at his gangnam nightclub, decibel. idols under ydh entertainment have been instructed not to attend, but noh jinhwa has reached out to them and pinky swore that the strictest measures will be taken to ensure no photos or videos leak from the after-party — if they're willing to take the risk, that is. despite the promise of privacy, idols are still instructed by their managers to not engage in any acts of debauchery. if they choose to end, they will be held accountable for any contract-breaking behaviors. our @doltalk account will begin posting prior to the concert, the day of the concert, and after the concert, so make sure you're following us there. if you'd like your muse to be involved in any scandals during this event, dm the admin team! to earn tokens through this event, you may do one or more of the following prompts:
A THREAD WITH A NEW MUSE: must be a muse you have not yet interacted with. the setting can be anything related to rehearsals, the concert itself, or after-party. three replies per mun.
A THREAD WITH YOUR UNIT PARTNERS: can be related to rehearsals, a thread backstage at the concert, at the after-party, or etc. three replies per mun.
POSTING AN OPEN STARTER: post an open starter related to the event in some shape or form.
A SELF-PARA: related to the concert in some shape or form.
A DOLTALK POST: write and submit a doltalk post to @doltalk related to the concert or the after-party. can be praise, criticism, a viral moment — get creative!
STYLING POST: for muses who are allowed to choose their own styling for the concert, show us what your muse will be wearing! muses who have been given assigned outfits, you could complete this prompt with your muse's after-party outfit.
completing three of these tasks will earn you three career tokens. you must complete these tasks by the deadline to earn tokens. tokens will not be given after the deadline, but you may still complete your threads!
