I'll be getting a puppy and I need some help thinking of names, do you have any ideas? She's a little white pitbull and she's very sweet.

You’ll laugh but I like the name Nugget. I had a stray white pitbull mix near my house for a while and she loved to respond to that name.

Does your favorite uncle have any children? Yeah; he has one son and a daughter. If you want children, what are some of your reasons for wanting them? I don't. I'm selfish with my alone time, and I want to live for me. I don't want to essentially hand over my life for someone else, give my all for them, and then I wind up not being enough. I don't want the financial burden. I don't want to be responsible for another human being. There are so, so many reasons I don't want kids. Does a career in finance sound interesting to you? Noooot at all. When you cook a dish that has beans in it, do you prefer to use canned or dry beans? I don't cook, but you also wouldn't catch me dead cooking beans. I've been pushing it to the back of my mind to avoid panicking, so I probably shouldn't even talk about it, but I worry quite a bit that Girt will eventually leave me because of me not being "adult" enough, like having a job, a car, knowing how to do basic adult stuff... you know. Hope (A Guards of the Shadowlands fic)

Lela and Malachi a Few Years After Chaos.

Lela and Malachi had often talked about getting a pet. They had both lost their taste for dogs, which, all things considered, wasn’t surprising.  But every time they saw a cat video, those adorable furry bodies hiding the fact that they had razors at the end of their fingertips, they both melted a little. They were “a perfect blend of cute and dangerous,” Malachi had told her, “Like you.”

One day, after another day trip to _____, they’d gotten ice cream cones at a tiny parlor and decided to window shop along the small downtown street lined with quaint boutiques. Lela was enjoying her cone, the sun on her face, her free hand holding Malachi’s. She could never take these days for granted even if she tried. After all they’d been through, being able to stroll down the street with her boyfriend, shopping, smiling, stealing a kiss every time they stopped to admire a window display, they were all a gift. And she would soak in every minute she got to spend with the man she loved.

Who had just made a very uncharacteristic noise. She turned around to see Malachi looking with wide eyes, his lips parted, at a small, fluffy, white kitten with blue eyes.

Lela started to giggle as Malachi poked his finger against the glass in front of the kitten, wiggling it so that the kitten started chasing it around, unsuccessfully trying to pounce on it. Malachi practically squeaked and laughed before he looked up at her, and she melted at the pure innocent joy on his face. She made the decision right there: they were adopting a cat.

“Lela I’m not sure about this” Malachi said carefully. His normally calm demeanor had changed to trepidation, furrowing his brow as he looked at their purchases.

They were in the checkout line at the store after having raided the pet care aisle. Their basket was full of toys, scratching boards, cute food bowls with fish on them, a plushy bed, and a litter box. After Malachi had obviously fallen in love with the white kitten at the small animal shelter in _____, Lela had just said “Ok. Let’s go.” Worrying that he’d done something wrong, Malachi had started to apologize, saying that they weren’t ready to take on such a huge responsibility so soon after moving in together.

“Malachi, I’m ready. We’re ready to do this.” His face had lit up with a shy smile, trying to conceal his excitement. He had such control over himself. It was something he’d never let go of, he was still always vigilant, always prepared to defend himself or Lela. They went directly to the store, and before they even got there he was researching everything from brands of food to types of litter. As they were picking out which items for their new friend, he carefully looked at each option, mulling it over in his mind before settling on one, nodding slightly and smiling as he put it into their cart. His excitement and happiness were infectious. Lela had never wanted a pet when she was younger. Her life had been way too unstable for one. But now, they lived together, went to school together, and had become as normal as people who had literally been through hell could be.

“What, you think he won’t like the blue bed? You’re right we should have gotten the green one.” Lela teased.

Malachi lost a little of the tension in his shoulders. “I just want to make sure we give him the best life we possibly can.” He looked at his hands on the shopping cart. Lela knew this was more uncharted territory.

Malachi had spent most of his life fighting, killing, and dying. He had never had a chance to nurture and love a pet. He had watched everyone he ever loved die over and over again, including Lela.

“Malachi.” He looked up at her. “Nothing is going to happen to our cat. We know better than anyone how to keep it safe.”

Malachi put his hand on her face, and touched their foreheads together. “You are right about that. I will defend this kitten with my life.” He said it with such a serious look Lela couldn’t help but start laughing, which got Malachi laughing, and his stress washed away as he swiped his credit card and told the cashier, “Have a wonderful day.”

With the backseat of Lela’s corolla full of cat supplies, they drove right back to the shelter where the white fluffy kitten was now sleeping in his window. As soon as they opened to door they were hit with the sounds of dogs, cats, puppies yipping, and the smell of the animal shelter. Malachi went still for a second, taking in the sounds and, Lela thought she noticed, looking around for an oncoming attack. He relaxed as soon as a volunteer greeted them with an easy smile, “Hello! How can we help you today?”

“We are looking to adopt that white kitten in the window, please…. This is our first pet.” Lela laughed nervously. “I’m not sure how this works.”

The volunteer, whose name tag she now saw said ‘Morgan,’ smiled again. “No problem, I just need some basic information from both of you and then we can go see your little friend over there!”

As they were filling out the adoption form, Lela couldn’t help but feel a familiar sense of responsibility well up inside her. She knew how important adoption was. They both had experience with protecting the innocent, protecting people in their charge. Looking at Malachi’s face, full of serious concentration as he wrote down his address and place of employment, she filled up with love and pride that they were taking such big steps together, and she couldn’t wait to take this kitten home. To *their* home. As that thought ran through her head she got a little misty eyed and turned away. Malachi, always aware of her movements, caught her arm before she could turn around. “What’s wrong?” He searched her face, ready to drop everything if she was getting overwhelmed.

“Nothing is wrong, at all. I promise. I was just thinking…” Lela looked at her hands, fingers grasping each other tightly, willing herself not to start crying from happiness. “We’re like a little family now.” Malachi let out a huff of laughter, the look on his face mirroring what she felt inside. He grabbed her face and kissed her, somehow soft and fierce at the same.

“We are a family. You are my family.” He twirled a lock of her hair around his finger. “I love you so much, Lela.”

“Are you guys all ready to go?” Morgan the Volunteer asked cheerfully. She checked to make sure they’d filled in all the correct information and then asked if they’d brought a carrier or needed a cardboard one. Lela and Malachi looked at each other with wide eyes, suddenly feeling like they were entirely unprepared because they’d forgotten how the kitten was going to ride home with them.

“No worries! He’ll be safe and sound in one of our cardboard carriers!”

“I know.”

“What are we going to do.”

“I don’t know.”

Lela and Malachi were sitting on the couch staring at the most adorable thing they’d both ever seen.  Their new kitten lay sleeping in his plushy bed between them, his little front paws covering his face, one back foot sticking up in the air.

“His little toe beans.” Malachi said with a giant smile, gently touching the kitten’s tiny toes. Something about hearing such a modern phrase from Malachi in his clipped accent, knowing how old he was, made Lela laugh out loud, disturbing the kitten so that he looked around quickly and chirped before deciding to go back to sleep.

“What are we going to call him?” Malachi looked pensive as he tried to think of the perfect name. Lela looked at his face, recalling the combination of happiness, worry, and surprise when the shelter volunteer handed the kitten to him. It was definitely a sight to see- a tiny, white, long-haired kitten in the hands of the most dangerous Guard the Dark City had ever seen. He had cooed at it every time the kitten squeaked, and Lela melted with every noise. They were too darn cute. He had held the cardboard carrier tight in his lap the whole ride home, reassuring it in hushed tones to keep it calm.

“Anything but ‘Snowball’, please. That’s way too cliché. What’s the cat’s name from James Bond? The villain’s cat.” Malachi just looked at her. “Right, it’s on the movie list.” Which, since they now lived together had gotten a lot smaller. Sometimes she wondered if they’d become boring old people, watching a movie every night before bed.

“What about Nadej?”

Lela looked at him for a moment. “What did you say?”

“Nadej. It means ‘hope’ in Slovak. And it kind of sounds like Nadia….” He looked at Lela to gauge her reaction. It had been a few years since Nadia’s death, and everything else that happened after that, but sometimes if a strong memory hit Lela unexpectedly, she would get very quiet.

She grasped Malachi’s hand resting on the back of the couch. “I think it’s perfect. His name is Nadej.” She smiled and stroked Nadej’s furry head with her finger, and he started purring. Lela couldn’t stop a yawn from coming out. It was getting late. They’d gotten home with Nadej and set up his food and water, showed him where his litter box was, and played with him for hours. She stretched her arms above her head and looked at Malachi, who looked away from her body not quickly enough. Her cheeks flushed, the heat rising from her belly.

“Where’s Nadej going to sleep?”

Malachi looked like he was about to say something, but then looked at the kitten’s sleeping form, looked to his bedroom door, then up to Lela. “I don’t want to wake him, but he should sleep in our room. Right?”

Lela couldn’t help but feel warm and fuzzy inside at the words ‘our room.’ It would never get old.

“Agreed. Hold on.” She slowly slid her hands under Nadej’s cat bed, then gently picked it up and walked to the bedroom like he was on a flying saucer. When she got to the bedroom she looked around for a suitable spot. Nadej was still small, and she was unsure whether he could jump up to or down from the bed. Lela looked at Malachi for help.

“I have an idea.” He kept a wooden chest at the end of his bed, similar to the one he had in his quarters in the Dark City. He cleared off some notebooks and pens and said “You can put his bed here. It’s lower than our bed, but he can still get down to go to his litter box.” Echoing Lela’s thoughts exactly. Lela gently set Nadej in his bed down and stood up to wrap her arms around Malachi’s waist. They stood for a moment holding each other, staring at this tiny new life they’d adopted.

“Does this make me a cat mom now?”

“What on earth does that mean.”

Here's all my ocs

-From Miraculous Ladybug, Misty who is the holder of the owl kwami. Powers include night vision and smoke bombs (that last one would work like Ladybug’s Lucky charm and Chat’s Cataclysm). She uses bow and arrows and her miraculous is the little thing she uses on her forehead, moon shaped. The kwami’s name is Mikki and poor little thing always looks sleepy. She would eat leaves, mostly. I did give her a civilian name but I forgot cause I created her last year and I also forgot so many things about her :P I remember her designs at least. Haikyuu: -There's Genta Akiyama. Here's generally shy and friendly but doesn't like to talk much about himself and manages to be outgoing when he wants to. He's a total bookworm. He comes across as confident and people tend to follow his lead. He gets to be team captain in college because he's able to keep a cool head in difficult moments and he has a very strategic way of thinking. His college major is literature and he hopes to be published someday. He lives with his dad and brothers. He had a twin and a 14 tear old brother. They have an adorable puppy names Aki. He has green hair, brown eyes. He's tall and very slim. -Genta's twin, Kita Akiyama. He's very intelligent. He adores using sarcasm, but hates when people use it with him. He tends to be hot headed but avoids conflict most of the time. He catches himself before doing stuff he'd regret. He plays as wing spiker on the same team as Genta. They have a pretty solid relationship, trusting each other etc... They don't fight too much, only about serious things. Kita's college major is Industrial Design. He likes drawing and he likes to know how a product can be used, so it was the perfect choice for him. Basically same height as Genta, grey blackish hair and green eyes. People don't really believe when Genta says their twins. He's not as slim as Genta. -Etsuhi Hayashi. Dyslexic with an incredible interest in computer stuff tho it's not what he wants to work with for the rest of his live. He gets intense about volleyball but he doesn't want to pursue it as a career either, he's just really competitive. He's also a big sweetheart, once you get to know him. He has the biggest patience in the whole world and he's a rule follower. His college major is biotechnology. He lives with his grandma cause his parents travel a lot for work so he never got too attached to them. Has brown hair and blue eyes, is smaller than Genta. BNHA: -Lena Inzou. Her quirk is Shock Wave. She can released shock waves from her body in a full 360 degrees circle and feel her surroundings with it. She always hated her quirk before she learned how to control it. Before Aizawa decided to help her out, she had already hurt two people gravely: her dad, who left after the accident, and her ex boyfriend who also decided it was best to stay away. But she learned to do all sorts of cool stuff with her quirk and she’s a lot more confident now. Side effect of her quirk are, dizziness, nausea and physical exhaustion. She’s very flexible and she can adapt to various difficult situations. Also she has an incredible fast reaction time. She gets strategies really easily, one of the reasons why she works so well with Sophie. Since both here mom’s were dumped by their husbands, both got divorced. After a while they met each other and started dating. Now Lena and Sophie kind of live together along with both their moms and they are very good friends. Lena’s been trying to get Sophie to try and transfer to the Hero’s course for months now. Lena tends to be very closed off but if she feels comfortable enough with someone, she is really outgoing with them. She’s also an awkward lil bean, often not knowing how to deal with lots of social interactions. Hugging her, for example, will result in awkward stiffness for a long second before she return it. She may also seem cold go someone who doesn’t really know her but she’s the biggest sweetheart on the planet, I promise you. She just… doesn’t know how to deal with people, except for her own mom and Sophie. -Sophie Zin. Her quirk is Emotion Control. She had manipulate people’s emotions. She says she can see a panel with buttons and two levers. The buttons are always divide into two sections: the emotions the person feels regularly and the emotions the person doesn’t feel all that often. The levers are only two as well. The right lever increases an emotion and the left lever decreases them. She absolutely hates using her quirk cause she describes it as manipulative an inhumane. But she uses it accidentally on people if they making her angry/irritated/uncomfortable. Side effects of her quirk include: strong headaches, irritability and excessive crying. She has a scar above her right eye which is a result of her younger self having a hard time figuring out how to use her quirk. It happened at home, with her mom. She had been crying because of her husband (Sophie’s dad) and tried to hide it for smol 8 year old Sophie. But she saw it and she tries to use her quirk to cheer her mom up. Instead, she made her mom irritable and hostile. The woman grabbed a knife and slid it across Sophie’s cheek. Sophie wanted to keep the scar as a reminder to never use her quirk like that again. Sophie’s cheerful. She’s always seemingly happy and kind to everyone she meets. But her patience is short and she tends to be a bit loud. She’s not in class A-1 because she doesn’t feel like she’s cut out to be a hero so she didn’t even apply for the course. She’s in the Support course, along with Hatsune Mei (they’re besties). Sophie’s also really smart and comes up with simple but effective strategies quickly. On the other hand, she lacks speed and is generally clumsy. -Infrared. Civilian name: Lisbeth Majir. She's kinda chubby, has brown hair and is 5'0 tall. Her quirk is Infrared. She can see through other people's quirk but otherwise, she sees things normally. Her quirk can cause headaches and temporary blindness. She's a really responsible person, always making sure the casualties remain minimum. She can come off as a control freak, but her plans always seem to work and she gets a bit cocky about it. Her focus is laser sharp, it takes a lot to make her lose it. She's also very level headed, villains who try to appeal to her jealousy or vanity or anything else underestimate her and live to regret it. She got offered a job as a teacher at the UA and other hero schools but she says she's a terrible speaker and wouldn't know how to teach such young kids. She's good knowing she's an inspiration to them (aka to Lena). She avoids the media attention, like Aizawa. Except she does do interviews sometimes. She's the type of person the Hero Killer would say deserves the title of Hero. Anyone want to know more about them? :P

Time for another update from the world of Eden.

I cannot actually believe that Eden is eighteen whole months old. That’s a year and a half! It seems like she’s been here forever, but at the same time it feels like five minutes ago that we brought her home.

So, what’s new?

Our little lady is most definitely finding her own will. I’d been warned that this happens about now and BOY has it happened! She seems to have realised recently that she is her own person and can say yes and no. Or just no repeatedly, as the case may actually be. Eden wants to walk everywhere at the moment and putting her in her buggy is a massive struggle. I’m fine with her walking unless we want to get somewhere fast, and we can’t really go out without the buggy in case she wants to nap. Perils of not driving, I guess.

Words wise, this child is a talker. Here’s a list of her most frequently used words just off the top of my head…

“Mummy, mama, hat, doggy, cat, juice, thankyou, Moo Moo (that’s our dog, Misty), ok, book, hi, bye bye, pretty, puppy, Mickey, Minnie, mouse, pups, Doc, yes, no, shoes, nose, eyes, mouth, feet, toes, ears, tree, duck, road, floor, door, birdie, baby, I sure, bath, water”

Eden picks up new words every single day. Just the other day we were watching the Lion Guard on Disney Junior and they had a song that goes “outta the wayyyy!” And she was clearly shouting “OUTTA THE WAY” at the TV. She also regularly wraps my clothes around herself and then says “I pretty?” which always makes me chuckle. In recent weeks, she has also taken to announcing her poops, which is… fun. She goes “I POOED!” Sometimes she has, sometimes she hasn’t. But nine times out of ten when she says it, it’s because her nappy needs changing. Of course, she knows what a unicorn is too. She can’t say it yet, but she will point and say “corn”, which is cute! Recently, she has also started saying “PIG!” when she sees a pig and making snorting noises too.

It’s lovely to be able to have mini conversations with her. She unfortunately doesn’t talk a whole lot around other people, but she is coming on slowly with that. She’s a very bubbly little girl who makes friends everywhere she goes and it’s lovely to see. She will follow simple instructions most of the time – things like “get your shoes” or “get your coat” or “go and give Misty a cuddle.” She’s not so good at “get down” or “stop bouncing…” though.

Speaking of bouncing, this child has taken on tigger-like qualities over the last few weeks. Anything bouncy, she wants to bounce on it. She will hold both of my hands and shout “bounce bounce bounce!” while she dives up and down on whatever. It all started with an episode of Doc McsStuffins involving a bounce house and a song about bouncing. Eden hasn’t been the same since! Similar when it comes to climbing. She scales anything that she can – gates, sofas, furniture… you name it, she’s climbed it! Quite often when we are out and about, she will stop to climb random gates and fences.

Eden’s favourite things on TV are Doc Mcstuffins, PJ Masks, Mickey and the Roadster Racers and Show Me Show Me. Yes, we watch a lot of Disney Junior. She loves Moana at the moment, and especially the song “you’re welcome”, which she “sings” along to. Outside, she likes playing in her “house” in the garden, throwing the ball for the dogs and going to the park. Eden is also an absolute water baby and absolutely loves going swimming and playing with water – we took her swimming a week ago or so and she kept just wandering into the deep end. This month, she also got her first taste of West End theatre at West End Live, which she loved.

Food wise, Eden still eats everything that we put in front of her. She definitely has certain preferences – jacket potato and baked beans seems to be her favourite at the moment. Quite often, if she doesn’t like something it gets thrown on the floor and snarfed by one of the dogs. This works great at home, but not so much when we’re eating at a restaurant – no dogs, you see! Generally she snarfs down three meals a day and snacks – mostly Kiddylicious veggie straws, which are still her absolute favourite things snack wise. She is also FINALLY starting to enjoy drinking water without us needing to lace it with juice!

Size wise, she’s pretty average. As usual, I have no idea what she weighs. She’s coming up for 32ins and is somewhere between 12-18months and 18-24months clothing sizes. She has a couple of things in 2-3 years as well but they tend to be the stores whose sizes are a lot on the small size. She hasn’t done much in the way of hair growth and still has a bit of stubborn cradle cap. Her hair is definitely curly though, which I love! It’s also still blonde, so I’ll be interested to see whether that stays the same and whether her blue eyes stick around too.

So, that’s 18 months. I’m really excited about seeing Eden develop more as a person with her own personality. Stay tuned for the next updates!
