I had a dream I was at some big new store/company hq, our whole team was, helping out, and I got lost. I ran around back areas a while past many loading docks that were bringing in trucks (which didnt have cabs, were automated, and didn't seem like earthbound vessels) I came close to the sales floor passing an area with carts that had a big vr simulation for kids with electronic fishing poles, and a big screen that displayed an underwater vista. They were fishing and reeling in huge simulated fish. A little girl not playing the game rolled up to me on some kind of motorized roller skates, her mom in tow, who remarked how she loved to skate. I took my leave and headed back towards the back areas instead of the sales floor cuz I needed to take an elevator somewhere. I almost got in the wrong one that was 1 way down. So I look again and I find Dave looking for an elevator too so I tag along with him. We get in with 1 other dude and the doors shut and we start moving and I realize it's that wrong one. It's a huge elevator that can fit 2 heavy pickups side by side with a corrugated metal floor and no handrails on the sides. It feels shaky as we go down and I freak out and recall how my last dream with elevators took place in a hospital/hotel/parking ramp and they were terrifying (yes, meta). It's a really long jerky wobbly ride and I comment/ask how far does it go. The dude sort of shrugs idk. So it keeps going and starts getting smoother and I comment how it seems we are slowing down. The air feels thicker. The elevator stops and the dude tells us it wont open right away and that we gotta breathe slow and equalize to the pressure. We finally do and everyone almost faints once, and we file out into a big area. There's a glass wall room with ppl inside and banks of cctv monitors watching stuff which look like store areas. Can't hear anything inside. We walk past that and I hear a familiar sound and we come across a bank of equipment that is making DRADIS sounds like from BSG. It's some kind of workstations that monitor the equipment in the stores remotely and have knobs and switchboards (like huge modular synth banks) to control everything above like refrigerator equipment, lighting, the ventilation systems, etc. Dave is like: cool, but I gotta get back and make garnishes, and he leaves. I'm next led to an area with tables and a bunch of ppl are gathered there. Among them my bf who also got lost and ended up there earlier. I'm handed a hand drawn schedule with my name clearly in some slots training, and they begin going through introductions. A few ppl into intros and my bf gets up and heads to a staircase (which i note must be a long fucking way up) and he is getting sick. They say he can't handle being down there and has to go. I run over to see that he's ok, and say bye, and tell him how im gonna stay cuz I'm not exactly important in my old job, and this place looks cool; whatever they do, welcomed me with open arms, and already had me on the roster like they knew I was coming. So he left, escorted by a helper since he was sick, and I turned back to the group. Sadly I woke up so I didnt get to see what happened next.
