Abandon all Compassion
She saw the devil
Under the clear night sky
Entering the bar
Full moon, not a cloud in the sky.
Hotter than normal
Stuffy and dry
Enough to draw blood from her nose.
No tables
Just the isle around the pit,
Humid,
For only 2 people
Being 6 seats apart.
The reflection looking back
Someone I can no longer make out.
The more glasses
The less I can see myself,
Recognize myself.
By the 6th shot
Numbness ensures
Nothing is felt
Only a pair of eyes
Examining me
From the corner of my eyes
From the corner of the bar.
She saw the devil
Before she can say goodbye
Pulling a cigarette
Lucky 7
Down to an even 6.
Stepping out
Aiming to release the demons
One inhale at a time.
Lighter hanging on for life
Empty I suppose
A spark yet no flame follows.
A flame emerges
A lighter that is not my own
A black zippo
L engraved in Red
Held by the man
Who watches me from the corner.
Unexpected, caught by surprise
No indication of where he came from
A face hard to forget.
6’6
A blank expression
Not a wrinkle
Not a flaw
Jet black hair,
No tattoos, no markings
Well kept to say the least.
Reached in his pocket
Reds
100’s
6 down to 5.
A breeze picks up as he stands by my side
Not a word uttered
Enjoying the silence between two strangers
Under the flickering street light.
She saw the devil
In human form
The last thing before he made himself truly known
Him: “They call me L
Her: Whose they
Him: Can’t say
Im not from around here
You?
Her: Not from this area
Him:Which area do you belong too
Her: Can’t say
Him: Hm…
Her: Why were you looking at me in there
Him: You remind me of someone I once knew
…
Her: What brings you here?
Him: I can ask you the same question
Him: To have a drink
You?
Her: To get away, I wanted somewhere to go. I feel lost in my life
Him: Well I guess now you’ve been found.
I saw the devil
I though he existed only in my head
“I guess now you’ve been found”
Strange to say the least
But not unexpected at a place like this.
“Abandon all Compassion”
Is the last thing I saw
Before I entered to get my things.
Written on the walls as I exit
Never noticing it when I entered.
A long walk home
The worst time to wear heels,
What was once a humid night
Now sends shivers down my spine.
Not a soul in sight
As I walk under the city lights
6 more to go until
Im abandoned,
Walking in the shadows
The moon being my only light.
Caught in the middle
Lighting a smoke to warm me up,
Struggling to light the flame
In the distance I see a red light.
Engine grows louder the closer it gets
Full speed like its running away…..
Or chasing after something in the distance.
Running
Not wanting to find out what happens if I stay
Getting closer and closer
Cant seem to get away
Collides with me,
Landed a feet ahead
Impact so strong
Ive seemed to have hit my head.
I open my eyes
As if I had woken up from a dream
It felt so real
Unsure of where I am now.
Some man hovering over me assuring im okay
His bike parked in the middle of the road
I can’t seem to see his face.
Pitch black
No light between us
I can’t find the moon in the sky.
Just wanting to get home
I hitch a ride.
Something feels different
I no longer feel cold,
I feel lighter on my feet
Heels no longer holding me down.
Sitting in the backseat
As the engine begins to turn
The lights go.
I look back
A body lays in the distance,
A blood trail leads to the bike,
Only to realize the man that found me
Was no man at all.
Horns as sharp as knifes
Protruding through his skull
Once well kept
Now red and disfigured
With a menacing smirk on his face
As we drive off into the night.
I saw the devil
Before he un alived me, leaving me for dead.

Death of Hope
The story goes
There was a man who sucked the life out of everything around him
Every step he took everything around him would perish
Destroying everything in his path, for what laid in front of him was a
Never ending path of destruction and pain
Carrying around on his back a reminder of who he was
One day he decides to turn around and see the destruction that laid behind him
All he can see was the bodies of loved ones, and a decaying world
However
In the distance he sees something that he never seen before
A Woman standing in the distance (Date: March 1st 1993)
The truth is the woman has be lingering behind him almost like a shadow but he never really noticed she was there
All he could do was keep walking
But Eventually
She caught up to him
Walking towards him
Once standing miles away shortly became inches
Confused as how she had not fallen
She walks up to him
While holding something in her hand
He looked at her hand shocked to see what she was holding
He stairs at the debris that is in her hand
Not understanding what had happened but a flower had emerged from the debris
He was scared to touch her or the flower because he knew what would become of them both if he did
So for every step he took she followed
Like his shadow
His name was Death
Her name was Hope
Death kept looking back to see if Hope was still there and she was
The thing is
Hope loved Death
Despite the path he had left and the power he had. She didn’t care she loved him all the same
Eventually Hope finally caught up to Death
Standing infront of him infront on his path
All death could do was look at hope and feel her presents but he knew he couldn’t touch her for the fear that she would not be with him anymore
But Hope couldn’t resist
While raising her hand to his face
Death prevents her from touching him
But gripping her wrist before should could touch him
Death had hated who he was and what he was capable of
As he watched Hopes lifeless body lay on the ground
He couldn’t help but feel responsible
That feeling of Hope was gone
All he could do was move forward
Because he knew there was nothing for him if he were to go back
Seconds became minutes
Which become hours
Which became days
Which became months
Which became years
While walking the path of destruction Death had never looked back once since that day.
It was a painful reminder of what he had done and he never forgave himself.
Eventually Death grew tired of walking and grew tired of who he was
All he could do was stop
And stare at the ground
Standing in the same spot for over a decade not looking forward not looking back
All he could feel was the guilt for killing Hope
It’s October 5 2019
Death knows all he can do is keep walking
But before he does
he turns back once more
to see if he will see Hope in the distance
Disappointment is all he he could feel for he does not see anything but destruction
But
What stood in front of him
Is what left him confused
It was Hope
Hadn’t seen her in 23 years
He couldn’t formulate words to speak
For he did not no what to say
All death could do was drop to his knees
And his sight had fallen off his back
What confused death even more was the tear that had shed from his eye
For he had never cried before until that day
While down on his knees hope removed the hood of death and laid a kiss on his forehead
For she had not fallen this time
Because
Hope was a powerful feeling that sat in deaths heart from the day she died
And from then on he knew that he wasn’t the monster he grew to hate anymore.
For Hope lived in his hearth
Forever.
