Do Native Americans Get A  Free College Education?
Tumblr media
The short answer is, no. I can only speak from my experience as a citizen of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska, which is a sovereign Alaska Native Tribal government.   There are scholarships I applied for offered by my Tribe and non-Profits, but no organization or government had an option to pay for all of my schoolings only small portions of it just like any other scholarship program.
I worked throughout college to pay for what my scholarships couldn't cover. At times I had up to three jobs at a time, which resulted in little sleep.   More Info:  If you'd like to learn more about this here is a link to a book of commonly asked questions about Alaska Natives: http://www.scahecak.org/docs/Book108-09.pdf

Losing Weight While Native
March 2018
I started my weight loss journey March 10th. Itʼs almost been a month and Iʼve gained some of my weight back that I lost the first two weeks of my journey. Hick-ups will happen but keeping my goals in check. Itʼs a journey and Iʼm not trying to lose weight quick to go back to my old habits and lack of exercise. Itʼs more than that. Itʼs a change in life style and commitment to health. Iʼll try and update this weekly. Things we have done to make sure this journey is successful is cut back on drinking, use my Fitbit, and MyFitessPal to keep track of how much we eat and move around. Iʼll try and keep up this blog on my thoughts on getting healthier, some things about my culture, and share my YouTube videos on Native cultures. Weight 213 and hight 5 foot 5 five.
