What is an NFT?

Not affiliated with Yuga or Larva Labs, I'm a punk who once was on the streets trying to help other punks and people on the street.
Crypto Punkz with Lunch is a collection by Empress Trash highlighting the crypto punk form with items handed out by the West Oakland Punks With Lunch (https://www.punkswithlunch.org/) - a houseless harm reduction and outreach organization to help the underserved communities of Oakland. 10% of sales were donated to West Oakland PWL.
This collection brings forth the question "What can we do with the intense amount of wealth in crypto and NFTs being exchanged to bridge the disparity between socio-economic classes and tech impoverished communities?"
I created this collection because while I was deep diving crypto art I saw a juxtaposition of ethos and income disparities I still can't resolve fully. While punks were exchanging for millions, I saw homeless people on the street in front of me in West Oakland. I was a real punk on the street doing the good work of trying to help them getting barely any funds or notice, while the images of punks were being commoditized and exchanged for an intense amount of weath. I had to create work around it to discuss this.
This collection is a 13 piece limited release made for XoB Cryptovoxels Gallery (cryptobox.space it's a website) with one edition donated to the gallery for the artist in residency program.
what's the difference between adoptables and like idk. nfts?
LMAO this is a crazy question. I'm sure it's genuine but the only similarities are superficial if that. I mean NFTs are on the blockchain and tied to cryptocurrency which means they have all the ethical/environmental/etc problems related to that. Not to mention you're rarely if ever actually or directly paying the artist who drew the thing (altho they do usually get some small cut). Adoptables are just artists selling original character designs. I get the whole thing of like how when nfts came around a lot of people described them as "the new adoptables" but that's like. Obviously mostly a joke and the way that they're new is basically just that they're worse in the most capitalist way possible.
