#NO BUT WHY DID TAAKO USE THEY THEM PRONOUNS FOR MAGNUS

I’ve tried half a dozen times to write this, and it keeps stalling out on me. I can’t get what I want to say to look nice and sound pretty, so I’m here with some headcanons. I hope you enjoy!

A list of queer headcanons, heavily featuring Aro!Magnus

Julia was the one that found him. Magnus had been wandering down a road he didn’t recognize, for a reason he couldn’t remember, and was drawn from the fog of his mind when a voice asked if he was lost.  When he realized he was, she took him home for a meal and place to sleep, insisting her father could help him find his way.

Magnus began to work for Mr. Waxmen, learning the craft of carpentry, which he took to extremely well, catching on quickly.  Before long, the seasons were changing and Magnus hadn’t even considered leaving. He wasn’t sure where he had been headed, didn’t know which way he had come, and had no reason to return.

Raven’s Roost was nice. It was cozy and close knit, and Magnus felt comfortable there. He was good at the work he did but most importantly, there was Julia. She was sweet and kind-hearted, but also a fighter who could hold her ground. She had a deep, hearty laugh, and a smile that could light up the street. She appreciated physical affection, like hugs, and eagerly initiated it. She was strong, able to compete with the best fighters in the village, and steady handed enough to blow the other rangers out of the water. She was passionate, explaining at length to Magnus the unfair political situation of her home, always ready to defend her family.

Magnus didn’t realize he and Julia were dating until she proposed to him.  They were close friends, who sometimes shared a chaste peck on the lips in greeting, who occasionally (increasingly more often) spent their nights in the same bed, who ate and laughed and explored together.  When she asked, the past few years suddenly made sense in a new way. He couldn’t tell her he hadn’t realized, and he couldn’t say no. Why would he refuse, though? She was his best friend, the only person he had cared for as much as he did, and he would be happy to spend the rest of his life with her.

That is my Magnus and Julia thoughts, here are some Magnus and The Birds:

Magnus and Lup are both trans and it’s something they can bond over and relate to.  Lup always had Taako to go to when she was feeling dysphoric, while Magnus never had anyone he felt comfortable talking about it with.

When Lup finds out Barry is also trans, she sets up Magnus and Barry to have a chat.  Realizing there was another FtM member of the crew, they can commiserate even more specifically than they could with Lup.

Magnus and Merle are both aromantic, and at some point during the Century had a talk about it, one of them providing the other with the words he needed to understand and describe himself.

None of the birds are straight:

Lucretia is a huge lesbian

Lup is bi

Merle is pansexual aromantic

Davenport is asexual panromantic

Taako is gay as hell and maybe a little nonbinary (demi-guy?)

Magnus, as stated, is aroace

Actually, Barry is the Token Straight, but he is also trans

 And here’s some Kravitz and Angus:

Kravitz is nonbinary, and uses he/him pronouns.  His true form is, obviously, the skeletal reaper form.  His human form is a manifestation that he can adjust as he likes.

Kravitz calls himself gay, partially because he presents as mostly-male and is attracted to other male-presenting persons (Taako enjoys his skirts and such, but he’s still mostly-male-presenting; he doesn’t wear women’s clothes, he wears Taako’s clothes).

Angus goes through phases over the next ten years or so post series, testing out different clothes and makeup, coloring his hair, letting it grow, cutting it short, until he finds the him that he’s most comfortable as, and his family all love him, however he is.
