Hello Autumn! Top 5 Things to do this Season.

Summer is pretty much over and Autumn is just around the corner. Anyone who knows me, knows that this is my favourite time of the year. I'm a sucker for sweater weather season! It's also the most beautiful time of year here in Nova Scotia, and I'm going to share with you my top 5 favourite Autumn activities.

1. Noggins Corner Farm Market, Greenwich, NS

There are a few corn mazes here in the maritimes, but this is my favourite one to visit. It is located in Greenwich, just off exit 11 of the 101 highway. Besides the corn maze and scenic valley landscapes they have a farmers market right on site! For the kiddies there is a rope maze, duck races, a washer toss game, barnyard adventure area, Red Cross haunted house (around Halloween) and a U-Pick! The U-Pick includes: apples, pumpkins, herbs and flowers. This place is perfect for all ages, which is great for people who have a family looking for the perfect vivid Autumn afternoon.

2.Pumpkin People Festival, Kentville, NS

Growing up in Annapolis Valley, I always looked forward to taking the afternoon visiting the pumpkin people. Residents get very creative with their scenes, often taken from pop culture, and some displays can be quite funny. I fondly remember the grumpy old men pumpkin people. It still puts a smile on my face whenever I think about it. This year they are celebrating Canada for it's 150 anniversary. The festival will be running fromSeptember 30th to October 29th. So make sure you take a trip down to Annapolis Valley and see what silly antics these pumpkin people will get into!

3.Scarecrow Festival & Antique Fair, Mahone Bay, NS

The South Shore is incredibly breathtaking! I love going there any time of the year. Lunenburg and Mahone Bay are my favourite towns to visit in the South Shore area. Majestic views combined with small town friendliness, I feel at rejuvenated every time I visit! The town of Mahone Bay has an annual Scarecrow Festival, which runs fromSeptember 29th to October 1st.

Combined with the Scarecrow Festival, there will be an antique fair, musical acts, graveyard tours, a pumpkin walk, and so much more! So if you have a chance, head on down and check out the festivities! Just like Kentville's pumpkin people, they will be celebrating Canada's 150 anniversary.

4. Nocturne : Art at Night, Halifax, NS

Are you a big fan of art and/or performance art? Then you need to check out Nocturne. Its a great way to explore the seaside city at night, and support local artists! There are tons of venues scattered throughout the downtown core, north end, and Dartmouth. Metro transit also offers free bus rides with a dedicated bus just for the event. Makes it easier to get around to the exhibits if you don't feel like doing the whole trek by foot. Plus local food trucks often frequent side streets for the foodie in you!

This years theme is Vanish, taking place on October 12 & 14 from 6pm to midnight.

5.Hiking with vibrant Autumn views, Nova Scotia

There is nothing like a good invigorating hike, and Nova Scotia is full of wonderful trails. Personally, I feel Autum is the best time to explore local spots. It's not too hot, so I can dress comfortably in jeans and a sweater. Taking in the beautiful Autumn foliage is also a plus!

Some of my favourite places to go hiking are the salt marsh trail (Cole Harbour), Cape Split (Blomidon), TransCanada trail, Point Pleasant (South End, Halifax), and Bluff wilderness. One thing I would love to do, and I haven't done yet, is to go up to Cape Breton and do the Cabot trail. At this time of year, I hear it's spectacular! Fingers crossed I can make a weekend trip and finally see the beauty of CB!

Blåvitling heter kolmunni på isländska vilket liknar det norska och bohuslänska kolmule. Det är en viktigt fiskart i det isländska fisket. Fisket bedrivs av samma fiskebåtar och företag som också fiskar sill och makrill. Koncentrationsgraden till ett fåtal företag är hög i jämförelse med hur det ser ut i Norge men liknar situationen i Danmark och på Färöarna.
