Six students of the Department of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) have qualified the University Grants Commission (UGC) - Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) & National Eligibility Test (NET) Examination. NET makes one eligible for teaching in any higher education institution and only the top 6% gets JRF as higher marks are required for it as compared to NET. The UGC NET Result 2022 was declared by the National Testing Agency(NTA) recently on its official website. As many as 551 candidates appeared for NET-JRF in the Arab Culture & Islamic Studies subject (subject code 49). A total of 43 candidates qualified for the test and 13 for JRF across the country. Wherein, Mohd Asif, Aliza Bano, Mohd Husain, Abdur Rahman Munawwar, Taj Muhammad and Shaima Ansar cleared JRF from the Department of Islamic Studies, JMI only. Elated over the success, Head of the Department and faculty members said it is a proud moment for them. They attributed the achievement to the proper guidance by faculty members and sheer hard work of students. UGC NET Exam Eligibility Criteria- 2022

UGC NET eligibility criteria 2022 is set by NTA (national testing Agency) to select candidates who are applying for JRF and Assistant Professors. Every aspirant has to fulfill the criteria before filling the UGC NET application form. 

UGC NET eligibility criteria mainly include the age limit and educational qualification of candidate.

We have mentioned below the Educational Qualification and age limit required to appear in the exam.

UGC NET Educational Qualification

The Educational qualification Required to fulfill for Assistant Professor and JRF same:

For General Category- You must score aggregate 55% percent marks in master’s or similar degree from UGC Approved university or college.

For OBC/ST/SC/PwD- You must score aggregate 50% percent marks in master’s or similar degree from UGC Approved university or college.

If you are a PhD degree holder and complete your master’s before 19th September 1991 will get a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks  

Age Limit for UGC NET

NTA decide the criteria of age limit and it is different under JRF and Assistant Professor:

For JRF- You age must be less than or equal to 31.

For Assistant Professor- No age limit.

Key Point to consider under UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

If you are waiting for the final year result of your master in that case you have to ensure that your master will be complete within 2 years of declaration of UGC NET Result. Then only can awarded with JRF or Assistant Professor.

If you have done your Post Graduation/ Diploma from a university outside India, then you have to find out a similar degree or diploma course and get a degree in same from AIU Delhi.

If the subject in which you have complete your master’s is not listed under UGC NET then you can apply for a relatable subject.

Any discrepancy found in eligibility will allow NTA to cancel your candidature and you are liable for legal actions.

Student Don’t need to submit eligibility documents or certificate to NTA. They have to bring required document at the time of admission and need to mention the category in the application form only.
