Trying to write multiple happily ever afters (it’s a choose-your-own) for a story broadly set in the real modern world has me returning to a lot of similar themes like

- safe, stable living situation

- less financial worries

- lovely food

- revenge on billionaires

- living near some nice trees

Me: Ok I'm writing lots of different romanceable characters for this project and it would be good for most them to be attractive in a normal way that will be relatable to many regular people

Also me: I think we can probably all agree that nothing is hotter than shirts with ruffles and fluently speaking four languages, right? Also imagine the eroticism of a guy who both rails you with wild abandon but also looks like a nerd and wears waterproof trousers on hikes and carefully packs you handmade sandwiches. What if this cool nonbinary trans girl is into collecting bones and making art out of them.

Day 1 writing a new book: The characters are incidentally trans and queer, it’s not really about that

Day 6 writing a new book: Listen... listen....... regardless of what they may have had to face because of it, transness itself is a formative and beautiful experience in these characters’ lives and personalities… the joy and pleasure and attraction is not in spite of bodies that are considered 'non-normative' but because of them… i’m crying writing this scene, also unrelated but I’ve put a bunch of stuff about plants in and I’m feeling very good about that bit also

trying to write an escapist vampire romance but keep being distractedly angry about imperialism and climate collapse and consumerism and the wealth divide so some of the endings do have the vampires eating billionaires as a treat

this character is a sad vampire who makes weird bone art out of animals they’ve killed, creating a sort of elaborate mausoleum/ monument to their own failings. They died in a pandemic and their hobby is violent revenge on powerful people who exacerbate war, climate and health crises. In the book I’m writing she can kill you or have sex with you. Personally I think the book is very good
