Sepanjang 2023, Terobosan Teknologi Co-Firing PLN Mampu Tekan 1,05 Juta Ton CO2 Emisi Karbon

BALIPORTALNEWS.COM, JAKARTA - Melalui pemanfaatan biomassa dalam teknologi co-firing pada Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Uap (PLTU), PT PLN (Persero) berhasil mereduksi emisi hingga 1,05 Juta ton CO2e dan memproduksi energi bersih sebesar 1,04 terawatt hour (TWh) sepanjang 2023. Capaian sepanjang tahun 2023 meningkat jika dibandingkan realisasi tahun 2022. Dalam produksi reduksi emisi misalnya, PLN mampu menambah pengurangan emisi hingga 450 ribu ton CO2. Produksi energi bersih pun tumbuh hingga lebih dari 77% dari realisasi tahun 2022 sebesar 575 gigawatt hour (GWh). Direktur Utama PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo menjelaskan, pihaknya terus mengembangkan teknologi dalam menjawab tantangan zaman. Dikembangkan sejak tahun 2021, kini substitusi batubara dengan biomassa tak hanya mampu mengurangi emisi karbon, namun juga menggerakkan ekonomi kerakyatan. "Teknologi Co-Firing merupakan sebuah terobosan dalam transisi energi di tanah air. Sebab, dengan teknologi ini, banyak manfaat yang didapatkan, selain pengurangan emisi juga akan mengurangi penggunaan energi fosil. Co-firing tidak hanya menghasilkan listrik andal namun tetap murah bagi masyarakat. Lebih dari itu, co-firing juga mendorong perekonomian kerakyatan lewat keterlibatan langsung masyarakat dalam pengembangan biomassa," kata Darmawan. Sepanjang tahun 2023, PLN telah menyerap biomassa sebanyak 1 Juta ton untuk 43 PLTU yang tersebar di tanah air. Angka ini tumbuh lebih dari 71% dibandingkan realisasi serapan biomassa tahun 2022 yang sebesar 585 ribu ton. Secara bersamaan, PLN terus melakukan uji coba teknologi ini hingga tahun 2025 agar 52 PLTU di Indonesia bisa seluruhnya menggunakan co-firing. Bahkan pada akhir 2023, PLN telah berhasil mengimplementasikan PLTU secara hybrid dimana 100% biomassa beroperasi selama 15 hari dalam satu bulan di PLTU Sintang, Kalimantan Barat. Capaian ini merupakan yang pertama dan terlama di Indonesia, sekaligus sebagai jawaban masa depan energi bersih di Tanah Air. “100 persen penggunaan biomassa ini adalah bentuk konsistensi PLN Group dalam menghadirkan energi bersih untuk Indonesia yang lebih baik. Sebagai pionir, keberhasilan ini juga saya harapkan dapat menjadi pemacu motivasi untuk dapat diterapkan pada PLTU lainnya,” terang Darmawan. Tak sampai di situ, peningkatan ekonomi masyarakat juga bisa digenjot lewat rantai pasok biomassa yang melibatkan langsung masyarakat. Ekosistem biomassa pun terus dikembangkan dengan menggandeng komunitas lokal, Koperasi dan Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah (UMKM) hingga Pemerintah Daerah setempat sekitar lokasi sumber biomassa. Darmawan mencontohkan, sejak Maret 2023, PLN telah bekerja sama dengan Pemerintah Provinsi DI Yogyakarta dalam mengembangkan kawasan Green Economy untuk mendukung langkah Net Zero Emissions (NZE) 2060 berdasarkan keterlibatan masyarakat lokal. "Kami sebagai BUMN tak hanya bertanggung jawab dalam menyediakan energi bersih saja. India Can Add 420 GW of Clean Power Switching from Coal Energy, Reaching $368 billion Savings by 2030

India ranks in the top 7 nations worldwide in terms of renewable power according to data in the Global Wind Power Tracker and Global Solar Power Tracker report. But the country can avoid about 32 GW in coal power plant capacity or the annual use of 78 million tons of coal, much more than India has ever added since 2018.
The report pointed out that if the country switches to clean power than coal, then by 2030, it can add 420 GW of wind and solar power. Thus, avoiding coal power can increase savings yearly beyond $58 billion, and the savings figure to touch $368 billion in this duration. If India brings forth its utility-scale wind and solar projects as planned, it can cost $51 billion roughly.
However, with annual savings of US$19.5 billion in direct fuel costs, the nation can complete the payment in a matter of two and a half years. The Global Wind Power Tracker examines utility-scale power and has an account of 21,182 wind farms across 149 countries generating 728 GW, and has details of 5,564 prospective projects, accumulating 1,215 GW.
The utility-scale solar power makes up 35% of the solar capacity globally and the rest of the 65% comes from commercial and residential installations. The project manager of Global Wind Power Tracker, Shradhey Prasad said that the country switching to clean power from coal can slash emissions and save money to meet the target of net zero emissions by 2070.
The cost of wind and solar power will fall and is a better option given the volatile fossil fuel prices, assisting in building new energy infrastructure. India is placed in the 17th position globally concerning its capacity for wind power, trailing behind China, the United States, and Australia.

BALIPORTALNEWS.COM, PURWAKARTA - Presiden Joko Widodo meresmikan operasi Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya (PLTS) Terapung Cirata berkapasitas 192 megawatt peak (MWp) yang berlokasi di Purwakarta, Jawa Barat pada Kamis (9/11/2023). Beroperasinya pembangkit ramah lingkungan ini menjadi bukti komitmen Indonesia dalam melakukan transisi energi demi mencapai Net Zero Emissions (NZE) tahun 2060. "Hari ini merupakan hari yang bersejarah karena mimpi besar kita untuk membangun pembangkit energi baru terbarukan dalam skala besar akhirnya bisa terlaksana. Indonesia berhasil membangun PLTS terapung terbesar di Asia Tenggara dan nomor 3 di dunia," ujar Presiden. Presiden mengatakan saat ini pertumbuhan pembangkit energi bersih di Indonesia semakin baik. Di Jawa Barat sudah memiliki PLTA dengan kapasitas hingga 1.000 MW. Dengan beroperasinya PLTS Terapung Cirata 192 MWp semakin menambah kapasitas terpasang pembangkit energi bersih. "Ke depan, kalau dimaksimalkan bisa menambah kurang lebih 1.000 Megawatt peak. Saya gembira dan bangga melihat PLTS Terapung di Cirata ini telah selesai, ini hasil kerja sama Kementerian ESDM, Kementerian BUMN, bersama PLN dan kolaborasi dengan kekuatan dunia yaitu Masdar dari Uni Emirat Arab (UEA)," tegas Presiden. Menteri Perdagangan Luar Negeri UEA, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi mengatakan peresmian PLTS Terapung Cirata merupakan hasil konkret kerja sama antara Indonesia dan UEA. Dengan beroperasinya PLTS Terapung Cirata menegaskan komitmen Indonesia dan UEA dalam transisi energi. Selain itu, dengan beroperasinya PLTS Terapung Cirata juga mampu membuka potensi pengembangan energi hijau lainnya di Indonesia. "Ini juga menjadi visi penting bagi UEA, kami berkomitmen untuk terus mengembangkan teknologi ramah lingkungan. PLTS Terapung Cirata menjadi bukti kuatnya kerja sama ekonomi dan hubungan bilateral Indonesia dan UEA," tegas Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi. PLTS Terapung Cirata juga sebagai bentuk terciptanya kerja sama investasi yang baik antar dua negara. Proyek energi bersih ini menjadi trobosan bagi pendorong ekonomi baru di sektor logistik, pariwisata, manufaktur bahkan sektor pertanian dan ekonomi halal antar dua negara. "Tentu saja, ke depan kita semua akan lebih banyak menghasilkan proyek energi ramah lingkungan seperti yang kita rayakan pada hari ini. Langkah strategis ini menjadi peran utama dalam mendorong target NZE," tegas Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi. UEA juga berkomitmen untuk melakukan investasi lanjutan khususnya di energi bersih. Direktur Utama PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo mengatakan, pembangunan PLTS Cirata menjadi langkah nyata PLN dalam mendukung pemerintah melakukan transisi energi. “Peresmian ini menjadi bukti bahwa transisi energi tidak hanya sekadar wacana, tetapi telah menjadi wujud nyata bahwa PLN serius dan all out menjalankan arahan Bapak Presiden Joko Widodo dalam menghadirkan energi bersih di Indonesia,” ucap Darmawan. Proyek strategis nasional (PSN) ini memanfaatkan 4 persen area Waduk Cirata atau sekitar 200 hektare. Terdiri dari 13 pulau yang berisi 340 ribu solar panel, mampu melistriki lebih dari 50 ribu rumah. PLTS Terapung Cirata mampu memproduksi energi bersih sebesar 245 gigawatt hour (GWh) per tahun dan mereduksi 214 ribu ton CO2 per tahun. Darmawan menjelaskan, PLTS Terapung Cirata juga menjadi bukti kolaborasi Indonesia dengan dunia global dalam melakukan transisi energi. PLTS ini dibangun hasil kolaborasi subholding PLN Nusantara Power dengan perusahaan pengembang EBT asal UEA, Masdar. “Pemanasan suhu bumi ini adalah masalah global, untuk itu penyelesaiannya pun harus dilakukan secara global. Pembangkit ini menjadi bukti bahwa dalam melakukan transisi energi PLN tidak dapat melakukannya dalam suasana kesendirian, kami terbuka untuk berkolaborasi,” tambah Darmawan. Lewat kolaborasi, proyek ini mampu menyerap sekitar 1.400 tenaga kerja lokal dan memberdayakan pelaku usaha mikro kecil menengah (UMKM). “Kami melakukan joint study, joint investment, dan kolaborasi teknologi dengan state of the art of technology, sampai kolaborasi SDMnya. Dengan demikian, PLTS ini tidak hanya menambah bauran EBT, namun juga meningkatkan kapasitas nasional,” kata Darmawan. Darmawan menambahkan, melihat luasan Waduk Cirata, pihaknya telah memetakan potensi pengembangan PLTS Terapung Cirata. Dengan luasan 6.200 hektare, PLTS ini bisa dikembangkan hingga lebih dari 1.000 MWp. CEO Masdar, Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi menjelaskan Masdar sebagai perusahaan kelas dunia berkomitmen untuk terus melakukan pengembangan teknologi sehingga dapat memberikan solusi dan jawaban dalam upaya transisi energi. Ke depan, terdapat rencana pengembangan PLTS Terapung Cirata ini lebih baik lagi dan mampu memberikan kontribusi lebih kepada Indonesia. "Kerja sama antara Masdar dan PLN menjadi bukti dukungan kami terhadap agenda transisi energi di Indonesia. Masdar dan PLN juga sepakat untuk dapat melipatgandakan kapasitas yang ada pada proyek ini. Kami sangat menantikan kolaborasi lanjutan untuk bisa memberikan manfaat yang lebih besar," tutup Jameel Al Ramahi.
