I've got a PS4. I know SFV hasn't been getting a lot of praise, but is it okay to start with Garou or KoFXIV?

KoFXIV is excellent, and very easy to sink your teeth into at a beginner level. Don’t get Garou on PS4, it’s netcode is shit. Instead, play in on FightCade, which is an emulator with netcode. That’ll give you access to a huge host of old games - classics, and lost gems alike. Beware, though, as those lobbies are populated by OGs, and boy do they go hard. If a lobby is empty, try to arrange something on the discord pageSFV is fine. The DLC is overpriced, but a lot of those people complaining about DLC were complaining that SSFIV wasn’t DLC in years past. Ignore them.While we’re at it, if you have Steam, look into Skullgirls, and Under Night in Birth. Their online ain’t exactly poppin, but sometimes people on arrange lobbies for poverty games, using the SRK forums as a hub. In fact, Shoryuken in general is a good site to read up on. They have pretty comprehensive explanations for games with large scenes.r/fighters is also a good spot to look for help getting your feet off the ground.

Yesterday, 3D Realms teased the announcement of a new Quake 1 engine shooter. Today, the studio has delivered with the reveal of Wrath: Aeon of Ruin. Developed in partnership between 3D Realms, KillPixel, and a set of “Quake scene veterans,” Wrath looks like exactly the sort of shooter you’d expect with that pedigree - the Steam page even proudly boasts a “Levelord seal of approval.” Wrath has the Lovecraft-esque horror vibes of the original Quake, pitting you against hordes of of nightmarish monsters with a healthy selection of weapons with which to tear through those enemies. In addition to the nine main weapons with alternate fire modes, you’ll also be able to pick up artifact items - a brief Game Informer feature describes one example where you can elect to drain your health for a few seconds of invulnerability. The campaign will offer three hub worlds and 15 interconnected levels, as well as multiplayer modes built with QuakeWorld netcode. 3D Realms and 1C Entertainment have revealed their new first person shooter that will be powered by the Quake Engine. This new FPS is called WRATH: Aeon of Ruin, targets a Summer 2019 release and you can find below the first details, screenshots and a debut gameplay trailer.

WRATH promises to embrace the timeless elements of classic titles such as DOOM, QUAKE, DUKE NUKEM 3D, BLOOD, UNREAL and HEXEN and carries them into the 21st century.

In this new FPS you play as Outlander. Once adrift upon the Ageless Sea, you now find yourself on the shores of a dying world.
