5 Things

Five Things 1) What are 5 ways to win your character's heart, and why do those 5 things work?

Don’t be arrogant. Don’t pretend that you know everything. Someone that is open minded is inspiring.// It shows that you are open to a variety of things and that you’re not close minded. Nicola has never been a close minded person.

Be yourself. Don’t try to be something that you’re not. // Having the confidence to be who you are is a very sexy thing. If you embrace who you are even the goofy side is a good thing. She needs someone who can make her laugh and be silly.

Listen. The best thing that you can give a woman is attention. Listen instead of trying to impress. It makes a world of difference.// If you are listening to what she has to say shows that you are making the effort to get to know her. It shows her that you are interested in more than one aspect of her life.

Put the phone down. Don’t check your phone every 2 or 3 minutes. It’s a huge turn off if you pay more attention to what’s going on social media than what’s going on in person.// By putting the phone down it shows that you are present and willing to be in the moment and that goes a long way. She doesn’t want someone who can’t put in the time or effort.

Make it interesting. Be active. Let’s go outside and do a walk and talk instead of sitting across the table.// Sometimes a meaningful date can last a few minutes or a few hours. By showing her that you can spontaneous will keep her on her toes and it makes it more exciting.

2) What are 5 of their pet peeves? What is it about each of those pet peeves that drives them nuts?

Chewing with an open mouth or smacking.//The sound of someone smacking their food or chewing with their mouth open drives her nuts. When someone smacks their food it’s like nails on a chalk board to her.

Tailgating.//Nicola hates it when people drive way too close. It’s also aggressive and dangerous and when she has Waverly in the car that makes it worse.

Gum smacking.// The sound of gum smacking is like nails on a chalk board. It’s a very irritating sound.

Micromanaging. //Nicola really hates it when someone tries to tell her what to do especially when it comes to her job.

Staring at someone’s phone.// Trying to see what’s on someone’s screen is annoying and an invasion of privacy. If she wanted you to know what was going on she would tell you. She especially hates it when it’s work related stuff.

3) List 5 people they find attractive (sexually or otherwise). What do they like about each person?

Chris Evans- It’s most definitely the eyes, his smile, and his laugh. When that Boston accent slips out that’s another turn on.

Sebastian Stan- His eyes and his smile and that little nose scrunch thing he does, when he speaks Romanian.

Andy Biersack- His eyes, voice, and the tattoos.

Charlie Hunnam- Eyes and the little smirk that he does, his smile.

Chad Michael Murray- his smile..those damn dimples just make his smile gorgeous

4) Who are 5 people they want to meet (living or dead)? Why do they want to meet these people?

Marilyn Monroe.// Marilyn Monroe is one of Nicola’s favorite actresses and she has always found her really fascinating.

Sharon Tate. //Even though her story of how she died is tragic and insane Nicola loved her fashion sense and the way she did her makeup and is a fan of her work as an actress. Nicola would definitely ask her for some style tips.

Her mom.// Nicola misses her mom and wishes that she could really be there to know her granddaughter Waverly whose middle name is her mother’s.

Sarah.// Nicola would give anything to see or hear her daughters voice again. She was taken at a young age and she will never have the life that she should have had. Nicola would give anything to be able to raise Sarah and Waverly together but she does try to tell Waverly stories about her sister.

Sarah Michelle Gellar. // Buffy the Vampire Slayer is one of Nicola’s favorite shows and she would love to meet the woman who played Buffy. Buffy resonated a lot with Nicola and she would take Gabe with her to meet her since they have their BTVS marathons and he’s the Giles to her Buffy.

5) Where are 5 places they want to visit and why?

Ireland- Nicola has always heard how beautiful Ireland is. She would love to see the Cliffs of Moher. She has always been fascinated by the history of Ireland as well but mostly she would love to see the lakes, mountains and the coasts and the small towns.

The Maldives: Nicola really wants to see the white sandy beaches and the bright blue waters. It’s one of the places that she has thought would make a good honeymoon destination.

Edinburgh, Scotland: Nicola really wants to see the castle. It’s also one of the places Waverly mentions even though she can’t say Edinburgh. She’s heard about Scotland and the history and she would just love to learn whatever she could.

Rome,Italy: Even though she has been there before there is something new to discover each time you stroll down the scenic streets and she would love to show Waverly one of the places that made her fall in love with art.

Moscow, Russia: Nicola has always heard that it is the most beautiful city to visit during any season. She would love to hear the bell chimes and just the history of it all. She would love to go see the ballet and visit some of the museums.

1. The smell of pumpkin or the smell of fresh autumn air?

Fresh autumn air all the way. 2. Sweet pumpkin seeds or salty pumpkin seeds?

Salty. Definitely salty over sweet on this. 3. Store bought pumpkins or pumpkin patch pumpkins?

Well since I have a daughter we prefer pumpkin patch pumpkins. There is just this whole different vibe about pumpkins from a patch and picking it yourself. 4. Wool sweaters or knit sweaters?

I love knit sweaters over wool sweaters. Wool sweaters tend to be a little itchy.

5. Halloween party or exploring haunted places?

Exploring haunted places all the way. 6. Candy corn or mellowcreme pumpkins?

Neither. Can neither be an answer for this? I’m going with neither. 7. Apple cider donuts or pumpkin spice donuts?

Honestly I’m allergic to cinnamon so I can’t have either one. 8. Apple pie or pumpkin pie?

If I had to pick apple pie without cinnamon.

Silly, all the way. Well depends on what the scary costume is…if it’s a clown then I’m out. 10. Cool, silent nights or rainy, windblown nights?

There’s a certain vibe to a rainy, windblown night that I love especially if you’re cuddled up to someone. 11. Hocus Pocus or Halloweentown?

Both. I can’t choose. 13. Fun Halloween decorations or sophisticated fall decor?

A combo of the two. I have a daughter so it’s a mix between the two always especially on holidays. 14. Ouija boards or ghost stories around a campfire?

Ghost stories around the campfire. You can never really trust a Ouija board. 15. Frankenweenie or The Corpse Bride?

Corpse Bride. Its one of Waverly’s favorites and if we skip it I never hear the end of it. 16. October or November?

October. I love fall. I mean I like winter but I’m not a huge fan of snow like Waverly is. 17. Black cats or owls?

CATS. 18. Fireplace or candlelight?

Ooooh depends. In front of the fire place cuddling with someone is incredibly romantic and I’m a romantic but there is also something sweet about having candles lit everywhere as well. 19. Monster movies or their classic novels?

Classic novels remind me of my mom so the classic novels always hold a place near and dear to my heart. 20. Carving pumpkins or painting pumpkins?

Both. Waverly and I carve pumpkins but she LOVES to paint pumpkins with her Uncle G.

Task 16

It’s no surprise that Nicola’s altar is for her daughter Sarah. Even though Nicola would do anything to talk to her mother Eryn she would love nothing more than to be able to speak to or hear Sarah again. Sarah was her entire world.

In addition to the pictures of Sarah with Nicola she would include HIC-Orange and Pepsi. Nicola would have preferred for Sarah to not have any sort of caffeine but it was something that she drank with her father from time to time. Sarah also loved pizza (especially if it was made by Ryan, her father) and Starburst jelly beans which she takes after Nicola. It was a nightly thing for Nicola and her daughter to have starburst jelly beans before Sarah would go to sleep.

Sarah loved stargazer lillies so Nicola made sure to include that. She also loves daisies which Nicola puts on her grave every year or whenever she visits. Sarah also loved to paint and the necklace is a necklace that Ryan got for both Nicola and Sarah. Sarah always wore hers except for the day that Nicola still wishes that she could do over. Sarah had left it on her side table.Nicola keeps hers in a safe place and wears hers from time to time.

When We Met

There was a particular coffee shop she loved to go to. A little hidden gem she had found when she had managed to sneak off from her bodyguard. She hated having eyes on her. It had been renovated from an old church and has been turned into a coffee shop come library. The smell of fresh coffee filled her nose as she stepped through the door. All Nicola wanted was to feel like she had some sort of normal life but being Nikolai Marchette’s only daughter made things more difficult than she could have ever imagined her life to be.

“The usual?”

She nodded her head to the barista behind the counter. She went and sat at her usual table just behind a pillar, next to a window. She loved to sit there because she felt like she could hide from the rest of the shop and just be in the moment. She was lucky that she had friends that helped her escape her bodyguard. The barista brought over her drink. He stood there longer than he should have which made her slightly concerned. He leaned down to whisper something to her, “That guy over there’s been staring at you since you walked in.” He pointed subtly in the direction of where the guy was sitting. She simply nodded and gave a slight smile as if to say thank you.

She sipped on her coffee and took out her laptop to do some work. Ever so often she would look up to catch the stranger looking at her. He was obviously a few years older than her,but she didn’t mind as he was fairly handsome at least in her opinion anyway. His hair was a deep brown and parted at the side, the top reached just below his ears,and ever so slightly slicked back. He kept playing with it when she caught him looking at her, pretending that he hadn’t met her eyes.

She finished her coffee and packed her things away,still looking over at the mystery man for a couple of seconds. Without realizing it she found herself walking over to him. She wanted to know who he was and why he had been staring at her. She stood next to his side with her arms crossed. “Do you have a problem with me or something?”

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to stare. I was just intrigued by what you were working on.” His voice was raspy and soft at the same time, not at all what she had imagined it would sound like.  She knew he was lying as the barista had caught him looking when she had walked inside.

“You were the one staring at me.”

The man started to smirk. “You were staring back.”

He wasn’t wrong. She was intrigued by him so she smirked back. “I better be going anyway.” She really didn’t have anywhere better to be, but she wanted to know if he would ask her to stay, or at least maybe ask what her name was. She turned to leave but he grabbed her arm. “What’s your name?”

“Nicola. Since I told you my name….it’s only fair that you tell me yours.”

“Ryan.”

A few weeks later

She was hoping that she would bump into him again. Even though it was a long shot she went back to the café after her run. Once she got there she scanned the room looking for him, but she had no luck.  She took her regular table, hoping that by some chance he would notice her through the window if he passed by. She ordered a coffee and then made her way to the bookshelves, seeing if there was anything that peaked her interest. As she did, she noticed a tall figure on the other side.

It was him.

“Are you stalking me now?” She joked as she picked a book from the shelf. He walked around the bookshelf to meet her. “I could ask you the same thing.” She didn’t realize how tall he was because he has been sitting down before. He raised an eyebrow as he looked at the book in her hand. “Romeo and Juliet? I would have thought you were a Jane Austen or a Daphne du Maurier kind of woman.”

“It’s a classic.” She slid past him and the other bookcase and headed back to her table. Ryan but his lip slightly, once she was behind him. She moved her laptop out of the way and placed her book down, taking a sip of her coffee.

He followed her and sat down beside her. “Been here long?” He asked as he gestured to the cups.  “Oh those aren’t mine….a friend of mine was here earlier.” She didn’t want him to know that she had been there all day waiting for a chance to see him. He smirked and nodded, knowing full well that it was a lie. She smirked as she looked at him. “How did you know I was a Daphne du Maurier fan?” She asked. Getting close to her he smiled. “When I first saw you…you had a copy of Rebecca in your hand. You were in grey sweatpants and an oversized hoodie. Your hair was pulled back and you had a Red Sox hat on….you were sitting in this exact same spot.” She looked at him intrigued by how much detail he had remembered. There was something about him that intrigued her and it scared her a little bit.
