Day 3 of 31 | Favourite Norwegian tiara | Queen Josephine of Sweden's Diamond Tiara. I choose this one in the previous challenges we've done but over time the amethyst necklace grew on me and is one of my fave Norwegian tiaras. I was going to choose it, I had the post done but changed it last minute because I'll use the amethyst in anothet day's challenge.

👑 Day Three: Favorite Norwegian Tiara
Norwegian Amethyst Tiara
Details from The Court Jeweler:
The amethyst and diamond parure consists of several pieces: a convertible necklace/tiara, a pair of earrings with removable drops, a ring, two bracelets that can be combined and worn together as a second necklace, and a brooch that can also be attached as a part of the bracelet-necklace. The provenance of the set has never been shared by the Norwegian royal family. While some have speculated that it may have been was a gift to Queen Sonja from her husband, King Harald V of Norway, others disagree. The jewelry historian Trond Noren Isaksen posits in his book, Ingrid Alexandras Arv, that the amethyst set was acquired from Garrard in the 1990s as a replacement for another jewel, a pink tourmaline tiara that had been purchased from the descendants of Countess Estelle Bernadotte. Isaksen writes that the tourmaline tiara, like Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara, was stolen in the raid on Garrard’s London headquarters in February 1995.

Tiara I Want to See Ingrid Alexandra Wear: Amethyst Necklace Tiara
I suspect we'll see Ingrid Alexandra in this relatively soon, since it's fairly freely shared (especially in comparison to some other Norwegian tiaras). It's not huge, but it does make a statement - perfect for a young future Queen.

Royal Tiaras Highlights: Norwegian Amethyst Necklace Parure
This amethyst and diamond parure was a gift to Queen Sonja from her husband, King Harald V of Norway. The set consists of an array of highly versatile pieces: a convertible necklace/tiara, a pair of earrings with removable drops, two bracelets that can form a second necklace, and a brooch that can also be attached to that second necklace.
The creator of this tiara and the year it was created remains unknown. It has been speculated that Queen Sonja gifted the parure to her daughter-in-law, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, as she has been wearing it quite frequently.

Tiara Predictions: Moldova to Norway.
President Maia Sandu will visit Norway on 6th and 7th May 2024 for the first State Visit from a Moldovan President to Norway. As of the evening before the visit, a full programme has yet to be announced but we know that it will focus on Moldovan-Norwegian diplomacy and defence. Norway has also announced that a new embassy will be opened in the Moldovan capital, Chisinau.
And now to the predictions…

The tiara I want Sonja to wear: Modern Gold. While this tiara isn’t one of the best tiaras in the Norwegian collection, it’s been almost 7 years since it was last worn and I miss seeing Sonja in a tiara that isn’t the Emerald parure or the Modern Pearl. It was last worn by Sonja for the State Visit from Singapore.
My Prediction: Josephine’s diamond. Incredibly pretty and slightly smaller than Sonja’s usual tiaras so is perfect for the first of 2 state visits happening in as many weeks. It was last worn by Sonja in May 2023 for the State Visit from Italy.

The tiara I want Mette Marit to wear: Maltese Cross tiara without the crosses. It’s a tiara that Mette Marit hasn’t worn yet and isn’t one of the tiaras reserved for the Queen so it’d be lovely if she wore this one. It was last worn by Queen Sonja in May 2011 for the State Visit to Slovenia
My prediction: Amethyst Necklace. Mette Marit tends to wear the diamond daisy tiara to multi-royal events so I believe she’ll wear the other tiara in her rotation this week. It was last worn by Mette Marit in February for the state visit from Tanzania.

“I think of all the reigning families the Japanese have always had the best parures. The pendant on the Norwegian Amethyst necklace is bigger than all the stones in the tiara. I will never understand why so many parures are made uneven but I appreciate the symmetry of the Japanese's jewels even more. It looks better imo.” - Submitted by Anonymous

Royal Tiara Challenge 2017
Day 19: Favorite Norwegian Tiara - Amethyst Necklace Tiara
I was so glad to finally have a tiara collection with colorful stones today. I chose this one basically because it has a different stone other than pearl or diamond, and because of the depth of the purple color in the amethysts. Oh, and it’s just dang pretty without being loud and ostentatious like the Josephine emerald tiara. The amethyst tiara is definitely not a tiara I would see a queen wearing, but Princess Mette-Marit (and her sister-in-law Princess Martha Louise) shows it off well, don’t you think?
