Im gonna be Honest,In the Pokemon: Secrets Of The Jungle Movie,I kinda Found the Main Villans Motivation and Character Reaaally Se Through. His Motivation for Evil Is "to prove He's Right". And I though Abridged Vegeta Had a Superiority Complex..WOO! this Man Blows him outta the park
oh he was boring as heck and every generic villain ever from a pokemon movie/tarzan-themed one and I knew he was the villain the moment he showed up XD but the rest was great

I saw a video saying that in the original TNG concept, Data and Riker were supposed to be the best friends transferring from a different ship and as much as I love Geordi and Data's dynamic, I simply can't ignore this concept cause of how much I love it so-
AU where instead of Data and Geordi being besties, it's Data and Riker!
Their friendship would be similar to a brotherly dynamic. Data would consider Riker to be his older brother, someone who's always there to support and look out for him, and Riker would consider Data to be his little brother, the only family he's ever had (not counting his dad)
On their previous ship, Data constantly gets harassed and Riker would always step in to his defense. Riker got into fistfights with the Tactical team for calling Data an 'it'
Everytime Riker gets injured from fiercely "defending Data", he never goes to Sickbay cause then he'd have to explain to the doctor why he got the injuries so the duty would fall onto Data to patch him up as best as he could
Riker willingly spent days and nights not sleeping just to learn about Data's inner workings. He isn't a cyberneticist. However, that doesn't mean Riker would be completely useless in helping his friend when issues rise. He knew the basics enough to help Data with minor injuries or malfunctions
During his first few weeks of practicing the violin, Data would only play if Riker was there to accompany him with the trombone. They've written and composed several songs together but no one knew what they were about
At first, Riker tried to set Data up on a date with someone, but after an incident that left Data almost dismantled, he stopped and from then on, became wary towards anyone who wanted to be close to Data
Riker likes to invite Data to playing sports in the Holodeck, much to the latter's dismay. Let's just say, everytime Riker manages to pull Data for a sport and convince him to "give his all", Riker would leave with broken ribs, limbs twisted in weird ways, bloody nose, and a chipped tooth while Data left with guilt and a lot of apologies to offer
First few weeks on the Enterprise, Data befriended Geordi and the first person he told was Riker. The next day, Geordi received a warning from the First Officer, that if he ever try anything funny on Data, Riker would personally hunt him down. Geordi took his words seriously and promised his intentions were good
When Data took up painting, he painted a sleeping alaskan malamute puppy with the fur colored after Riker's own hair and gave the painting to said person (who loved it). The first thing everyone sees when entering Riker's quarters was the painting
Outside of poker, Data and Riker have secret card game nights. Usually they play Yu-Gi-Oh or incorrectly play Pokemon cards
Riker likes to ruffle Data's hair like your usual older brother and he's one of the very few people Data actually allowed to touch his hair
Data doesn't like to be touched by other people without a reason, it's dehumanizing. However, he found there are certain people's sensory input that he actually enjoyed (even craved). Riker was one of them and his favourite touch from him are the head pats. When the emotion chip was fused into his neural net, Riker's head pats introduced him to the emotion of pride. Also whenever he's having a breakdown, the head pats helped ground him
They also do Holodeck mystery LARPing but instead of Sherlock Holmes, it's Professor Layton. Riker likes the thrill of adventure and beating villanous asses up while Data enjoys a good puzzle and theatrics
Riker once bravely drank Data's bio-lubricant cause some officer was insulting Data for drinking it in public and Riker wanted to prove a point and (once again) defend his friend's honor. He did succeed, but let's just say it ended with him in his bathroom, puking into the toilet bowl while Data gently pats his back. That day, he had the worst tummy ache and the most digusting vomit he ever had in his lifetime
Riker has his own "List of Data's Red Flags" where he listed several things Data should avoid (which Data himself wasn't aware of cause he was just that innocent) which Data happily complied since that meant Riker was looking out for him. Though it took him awhile to convince Riker that "engineers" aren't exactly red flags

Okay, so spoilers for Legends Arceus postgame below the... did the mobile app get rid of readmores? Gross! Hope this works:
So, ive seen it claimed on the tvtropes page for Legends arceus that Rei/Akari are called pokemon trainers, and Volos called a pokemon wielder because he's the villan. And the logics good, but its not true. Heres how!
Rei and Akari are never called trainers. Trainers dont really exist yet, because pokeballs are new tech and people havent really started training pokemon yet, at least for the primary purpose of battle. Heck, even Ingo, who was a trainer in his past life, is only ever called Warden Ingo in battles. Volo, before going mask off is called Ginkgo Guild Member Volo; while Rei/ Akari are called The Survey Corps Rei/ Akari
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the major plotpoints is after all, Diamond and Pearl clans thinking your new ways arent good, and thinking their management of pokemon, of living with them, is better. Meanwhile, at the start of the game they complain about you keeping pokemon in balls and think youre just using them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(This becomes weird when you consider Ingo, who does use pokeballs in battle, but still has a high position in the pearl clan.)
My theory is "pokemon wielder" comes from how people in hisui see people who use pokemon primarily for battle. Most characters title is [job description[[name]. Most people who keep pokemon keep them as companions, or to help with their work (either literally, like the farmers in the fields, or by protecting them on the job, like the security corps and survey corps.) Theres no reason yet to just... train pokemon for trainings sake. And the people in hisui look upon the idea with suspicion. Pokemon wielder is probably a little used term made to describe someone who, in the future, would be called a pokemon trainer. But... derogatory.
But then theres Volo in the last fight. Because hes no longer even pretending to act on the Ginkgo guilds behalf, he has his title stripped from him. So, because hes not training pokemon to, say keep him safe on the job anymore, he's *just* a pokemon wielder. If you ditched the survey corps in some bad end alternative, people would probably call you a pokemon wielder too. Becsuse youre no longer doing this for a reason they can understand.
What proof do i have of this? Well, not much besides what ive included above. But, the music for trainer battles is called Battle! (Pokemon wielder). The theme when you fight *Volo*, on the other hand, is Battle! (Pokemon wielder Volo)
And honestly, this just seems more likely. As much as Volo sucks, he has three different mons that evolve from friendship. If he was in this time, hed be called a trainer, like a more problematic N.
Tumblr media
Though, we see that this'll likely start changing soon. If you talk to (cant remember exactly orz) either Zizu or one of her nearby subordinates, they mention thinking about setting up a dojo there in the future.
Having a dojo meant for pokemone battles would probably start changing the cultural expectations of human and pokemon relationships, and may even blossom into the first shinnoh gym! ( probably canalaves gym, due to the duel rivers running through. Yes, I know its called *jubilife* village. Its clearly closer to where canalave would later be on the map.)
So yeah. Thats why game freak didnt just go "oh his evil? He's a wielder now!" And how the phrase probably says less about Volos treatment of his team, and more sbout societal attitudes towards training pokemon.
Did i need to make an effort post about something so minor? Probably not. Did i enjoy obsessing over bullshit? Yep!

just saw detective pikachu here are my thoughts (major spoilers dont read if u havent seen the movie!!!)
the good
so many pokemooooooooooon ohmigoooshhh
"if your dad was here would sqeeze you so hard your bones would pop" scene came up much later than i expected and hit much harder than i expected
I was crying in the first 30 minutes MOVIE what the HECK!!!
mmhmnfmrkd mew2 good pokemon
the trailer, music and all is still stuck in my head
"my lungs are the size of grapes"
pikachu
just everything about pikachu
The twist of pikachus identity is predictable but still fun to watch happen
oh and the twist of the main villan is also predictable BUT AGAIN it is STILL so much fun to watch play out.
ryan renolds showing up at the end as tims dad and the whole scene that follows
THE TORTERRA GARDEN
pikachu's caffeine/esspresso shot addiction
tim and harry go out for coffee with detective pikachu
all past pokemon movies are cannon and in line with this one. example: they mentioned the first pokemon movie by saying when mewtwo was first made and when he "escaped". very good detail.
the detail on EVERYTHING
this movie is really pretty
*heavy breathing* thEy HAD A POKEMON EXPERT ON SCENE WHEN MAKING THE MOOOOVIIIEIEE AHHHH!!! everything pokemon related that the movie didnt have to improvise is correct!!
"every step you take is 1,000 for me" (this probably isnt 100% correct but idc its he thiught that counts)
the not good
the begining of the movie was all over the place in terms of funnies and plot. It was kinda hard to follow at times
some jokes fell flat in theater :////
most of the time you know whats happening b4 the main characters do
the torterra garden scene makes 0 sense (but hey i still love it)
pikachu gets hurt by getting hit with a rock the size of his hand and it almost kills him. :/ just... what if a rock was going to hit tim and instead of tim getting hit pikachu takes the hit not just "oh shoot rocks are falling ouchie ouch me tumm tum" ***edit: someone pointed out ground is effective against electric (something i forgot about) making this more plauseable
pikachu called tim: tim before knowing tim's name which is very odd
NOT SPOILERS: Detective Pikachu is a really good movie go see it already if u havent
