The room is oddly small.

Four square walls enclose the space, each colored an odd shade of white that blends into nothing and strangely spotless. No windows interrupt the endless white, no sunlight or glimpses of the world outside to remind Reigen that the world indeed exists. Within this room, he realizes, is all his world will come to be for the foreseeable future, and whether it be hours, days, or even weeks- it fills him with terror either way.

A bed hugs the corner, freshly made covers and a pillow sit innocently upon it with hardly a wrinkle creased along its surface. Beside it, a long bookshelf streches up towards the ceiling, each shelf filled with book after book until it becomes a mess of colors. Alongside the far wall, an older tv waits for his attention with cds neatly placed and organized along the bottom shelf that it sits upon. The titles are oddly familiar, and as Reigen looks closer, the growing pit of fear only worsens as he recognizes each one to be one that he has watched countless times. Nights that seem so long ago, nights outside of these white walls, nights where he would cuddle close to his Shishou and lose himself in the closeness between them-

Reigen stutters out a sob, the sound unwholly unwelcomed as it wretches out of his chest with a ferocity that shakes his ribs and threatens to drag him onto the ground. Hiccuping cries escape him, the sound strangled even to his own ears as he stands alone in the middle of the strange room. Completely and utterly alone, the silence only broken by his own rapidly worsening cries and his futile attempts to stifle the panic tearing his insides apart. The door behind him sits unmoved, lock stubbornly intact and unmoved despite his previous attempts at knocking down the door with his hands and furious screams alone.

Reigen lowers himself to the floor, completely and utterly unwilling to touch any part of the room that he was now trapped in. Red cresent marks bloom on Reigen's palms, his nails digging further and further into his tender flesh as his knees settle upon oddly soft carpet. The pain brightens the warm golden light around him until it strays into something overwhelming, nauseating- and Reigen finds himself slamming into the door along the last wall he had skipped and heaving into a pristine sink. Bile covers the inside of his mouth, the taste of it close to acid and of the breakfast that he had shared with Mob that morning.

Reigen leans closer to the sink, another rush of bile clogging the back of his throat until nothing but spit covers his lips and frustrated, pained tears stain his lashes. His reflection looks back at him, and it looks scared.

'Ritsu. Ritsu. Ritsu-'

Ritsu's pitying expression flashes into his mind, the image of it painfully sharp and unflinchingly cruel as it digs into his mind and stabs into the space between his ribs. The colors, the shape of him, everything- it's sharp, painful, and agonizing- as the memory of only that handful of moments ago repeats over and over in his mind.

'I'm sorry, Reigen. I never wanted it to have to come to this, it should've never have come to this- but, you'll understand, eventually. I'll do whatever it takes to keep you safe, I promised you that, remember? And that includes what's best for you, even this.'

Pity- so, so much pity- and sadness.

Choked off sobs trail off into nothing, quiet, pained whimpers whispering underneath his breath as he sinks into a pit of fear and misery. The wall is cold behind his back as he falls slowly onto the bathroom floor, his entire frame slowly curling into itself until his arms shudder around himself with every cry.

A chill passes through him, utterly different than the pure misery weaving itself through his chest as he wonders.

Just when will Shishou notice that he's gone.
