You moved to Outerbanks about a week ago, and you had already fallen in love with the place. The beaches, the parties, the people, it was your dream. You lived in Figure 8, in a 6 bedroom house with a giant pool outside. For some reason, your friends (known as the Kooks) had a rivalry with the Pogues (the kids on The Cut), so you weren’t meant to speak to them. You didn’t get the hatred, but you thought it was best not to ask.

In your new group, a certain boy had clearly taken a liking to you, Topper Thornton. He was cute, handsome and a gentleman, and your dad thought he would be good for you, so you decided to give it a try. 

You’re sat on your bed on a usual Saturday morning in your hoodie and shorts when your mum comes in. 

“Y/n, there’s a party tonight to celebrate our arrival. The Khini’s are hosting. You have to come. Topper will be there!” Your mum smiles at you when you blush at the mention of his name. 

“Ooo! The Khini’s! That means their kids, Stella and Max will be there! I’m defo coming now, they’re so cute!” You smile at her. You know your mum will be pleased that you’re there. She chuckles. 

“The party is at 7, don’t be late!” With that, she closes the door.

The time is 6:30pm, you are standing in the mirror, admiring your new dress. It is baby blue, flow-y at the bottom and strapless at the top.

You decided to opt-out when it comes to makeup, mainly because you only remembered about the party 20 minutes ago, and had no time to do anything. You had curled your y/h/c hair to make yourself look more put together. You head downstairs and see your mum putting her phone in her clutch. 

“So, what do you think of the dress?” She turns around and smiles at you as you walk downstairs. 

“It’s gorgeous, y/n/n. Topper is definitely going to swoon for you now!” You both let out a small laugh as your dad walks downstairs to see you and your mother by the door. 

“The two most beautiful girls. How did I get so lucky?” He smiles at you and kisses your forehead. You and your mum let out a small laugh. 

“You look beautiful, sweetie.” Your dad mutters to you as you hug. 

“Thank you.” You all head to the Khini’s and as you walk in, everyone goes silent. 

“Mum, why is everyone looking at us?” You whisper to your mum behind you. 

“They aren’t. They’re looking at you.” She smiles at you and nods towards the blonde boy walking towards you. He’s in a black suit, looking handsome, like always. He wears a baby blue tie, you begin to wonder how he knew you were wearing blue. 

“You look beautiful, Miss y/l/n.” He lifts up your hand and kisses the back of it, you curtsy and blush. “You too, Mr Thornton.” You both laugh quietly, suddenly you notice all eyes are still on you. Topper leans in to your ear. 

“They’re just not used to true beauty, and that’s you. You look beautiful without any makeup.” He smiles at you as you blush even more.

A few hours later, the party has started properly. All the parents are drinking, and talking to each other. You and Topper are sitting on a bench on the porch, talking. You stand up and put your hand out for Topper to follow you.

“Where are we going?” He asks you with a confused look on your face. 

“Just follow me.” He grabs your hand and you pull him up. You both walk over to where the Khini’s children are playing. 

“See, they’re adorable!” You stop and watch them play. Topper continues to hold your hand as he stands behind you. All of a sudden, he walks over to them and starts playing with them. He dances with Stella. He picks her up and spins her round. Your eyes light up. Topper is perfect with them. You really have fallen for him now. After all, who doesn’t love a guy who’s good with kids?
