HoD idea: Lumity listening to each other's heartbeats, which are different in witches due to the bile sac, leads to impromptu anatomy lesson? (Headcanon I've had for a while but I can't write to save my life)
The Sweet Sounds of Love
Every day she and Luz started dating, Amity found more things to...like even more about having Luz as a girlfriend.
Getting to hold hands whenever Amity wants? Likes it.
Getting to look at Luz and finally appreciate her beauty without feeling creepy? She really likes it.
Getting to kiss?! You better believe she likes that!
Even now, as she and Luz are snuggled up on the couch, inside the Owl House, watching a movie on the crystal ball, all with Amity's head on Luz's chest like it was a pillow. Luz's fingers ran through Amity's hair while Amity snuggled closer into Luz. It was a moment Amity felt more at peace than at any moment in her entire life, feeling happy to have this moment where she and her girlfriend can just exist together. No tension, no blushing (Ok, there was a bit of blushing).
Just two girlfriends, cuddling and feeling how much they...really like each other.
"Falling asleep on me?" Luz asked at some point.
"Not yet," Amity responded with a smile. "Though I'll admit, I'm getting there."
"Aw, am I boring you?" Luz's voice reeked with playful sarcasm. So much that Amity rolled her eyes underneath her eyelids.
"You could never--" Amity's quip was interrupted by a brief yawn, "--bore me..."
"That yawn said differently."
"That's because I'm so relaxed right now. Your soothing fingers and weird heartbeat are practically lulling me to sleep. Sue me."
But there was a word that Luz caught onto in that defense. One that made Luz blink in confusion.
"Weird heartbeat?" she asked. "What's so weird about my heartbeat?"
"It only has two pumps. Not four," Amity said simply.
"Uh, what?"
"Yeah, it worried me at first, but then I remembered, 'Oh, yeah. Human heart. No bile sac.'"
"...Amity, you're making less sense by the second," Luz then sat them both up. "What are you going on about four pumps and bile sacs?"
Before responding, Amity stretched her back a bit, forcing herself to become a lot more awake.
"Ok, so, uh, bile sacs cause witches' hearts to have four pumps," she explained, "Two from the heart pumping out blood, and two from the sac pumping out magic. Both coincide with the other."
"Freaky," Luz seemed mystified.
"From you're point of view, maybe. For me, it's pretty weird to hear a heartbeat with two pumps."
"I bet..." Luz said, now looking contemplative as a light blush formed on her cheeks.
Amity smirked. She didn't need to be an oracle to figure out what idea now formed in her girlfriend's mind.
"You want to listen to my heartbeat now, don't you?"
Luz, slowly and abashedly, nodded. Amity couldn't help but chuckle as she lay down away from Luz.
"Be my guest," was all the witch said. Luz then lowered herself down and lay on top of Amity, who then wrapped arms around the human--her human--and allowed Luz to listen closely.
"...Woah!" she exclaimed, "That is weird!"
"Again, from your perspective. From mine--"
"--It's normal," Luz nodded, "I get it...but...it's also pretty soothing."
"See how I nearly fell asleep now?" Amity grinned, her being the one who now ran fingers through her girlfriend's hair. Almost instantly, Luz gave a yawn.
"Maybe..." she said, "I could definitely see myself clocking out any minute."
"And I'd more than let you," Amity confessed, "That's not a weird thing to say, is it?"
"We're a human and a witch from different worlds dating each other. I think we've gone past worrying about what's too weird."
Amity belt out a laugh at that one.
"Fair enough," she mumbled, going back to that moment of just existing with Luz.
A moment that was peaceful.
That proved how much Amity liked...
That proved how much Amity loved her girlfriend.
