Checking speeds in your network is a great way to troubleshoot and also keep a check on performance metrics. If you are like me, you have probably relied on publicly available speed test servers to check the speed of your connection from an Internet perspective (ISP provider) and then used something like iperf to check the speed between devices. Let me introduce you to OpenSpeedTest server, a…

Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on the ASUS RT-BE92U Wi-Fi 7 router and wanted to share my experience with you. This router is packed with features, including a 10-gigabit WAN/LAN port and four 2.5-gigabit ports, which should be more than enough for most users. Unlike some cheaper Wi-Fi 7 routers, this one includes the 6 GHz band, making it truly future-proof. Unboxing the ASUS RT-BE92U Upon unboxing, I was surprised by how compact and lightweight the router is. It weighs only 790 grams and measures approximately 24.5 cm in width, 15 cm in height, and 6.5 cm in depth. This makes it easy to place anywhere, whether on a desk or mounted on a wall. The package includes the router, a wall-mount kit, an RJ-45 cable, a power adapter, a quick start guide, and a warranty card. Design and Features The router features four external antennas and multiple ventilation openings on the back, sides, and bottom to prevent overheating. The back panel houses a WPS button, power input, power switch, reset button, one 10 Gbps WAN/LAN port, four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port. The front panel has LED indicators for power, WAN, LAN, and the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. Performance Testing I put the RT-BE92U to the test using a Wi-Fi 7-enabled laptop and conducted both wireless and LAN speed tests at various distances. The router delivered impressive speeds, making it suitable for high-bandwidth activities like streaming and gaming. Its tri-band capability, including the 6 GHz band, ensures a stable and fast connection across multiple devices.
