Simi Valley sex offenders allowed to give out candy on Halloween night
Just two weeks before Halloween the Simi Valley city council overturned Ordinance No. 1201 which was enacted in September 2012. This ordinance prohibited sex offenders from posting “candy or treats” signs, turning on decorative and ornamental lights on October 31, refraining from placing Halloween decorations in the front yard and exterior of the residence as well as answering the door to children who were trick or treating. After further review and 2 federal lawsuits over this ordinance, sex offenders will be allowed to participate in Halloween activities effective immediately.
To better protect your family this Halloween visit the California Megans Law webiste for information on sex offenders around your neighborhood. It is important to note that not ALL registered sex offenders are posted on this website.
