“Shun? Are you awake?” A small Ruri gently pokes her brothers cheek, tears having wallowed in her innocent magenta hues. “I had a bad dream. I had a dream that ... that someone took Mama and you away. And that ... I’d be all alone.” (Nobles Of Nature)

Shun had always been a light sleeper. So it’s to no surprise his eyes shoot open at a poke to the face. He didn’t have to see her face to know she had been close to crying, the waver in her voice was more than enough.

He’s rubbing the sleep out of his eyes as Ruri recounts her nightmare. before saying anything he scoots over, holding up the thin blanket and patting the bedding as an invite. Shun recalls how they both would often crawl into their mother’s bed like this, whether it was for comfort or warmth in their younger years. Shun has long since grown out of that habit, but he’s hoping the nostalgic gesture would be enough to comfort his younger sister enough to quell her anxieties.
