A LOOK BACK at Ho Joon & Jae Yoon

ROOMMATES OF POONGDUCK 304 (2022, SOUTH KOREA)

We have a third generation chaebol Ji Ho Joon (KIM JI WOONG) who is a happy go lucky playboy. His father gives him an ultimatum to curve his "wicked ways". He has to leave the house virtually penniless for two years and bring results as a team leader with a business team in a company which his father is chairman.

Ji Ho Joon needs a place to stay with 1 crucial requirement. Excellent water pressure for his cleansing showers. This starts off very badly until he decides instead of renting his own place he'll room with another guy. He arrives at Poongduck Villa.

First he meets the landlord's friend, and is scammed (more or less) out of 500, 000 won for rent and deposit.

Then he meets the actual landlord Jae Yoon (YOON SEO BIN) unaware his friend rented to this man. Jae Yoon walks in to find his new tenant on the floor in a towel (having showered and then seeing a roach) he collapses.

The two get off to a rocky start as the landlord's friend absconded with the cash paid by Ho Joon.

Initially Ho Joon leaves but unable to find a vacant hotel room he pushes his way back into the apartment of Jae Yoon.

Later the two find Jae Yoon is an employee in the new business unit to be lead by Ho Joon.

Time dissolves the relationship into friendly (ish) until the two fall madly in love with one another.

PARK SHIN-HYE IS BACK!!!

One of my all time favorite Korean Actresses has returned to acting after her marriage and birth of her first child.

Park Shin-Hye is acting royalty in my opinion appearing in hits The Heirs, Doctors and Pinocchio among others.

DOCTOR SLUMP (2024, SOUTH KOREA)

Available on Netflix.

She is playing Nam Ha-Neul and reuniting with Heirs co-star Park Hyung Sik.

Episode 3

Gu Jun Pyo (LEE MIN-HO) became jealous at a formal event and went outside furious that the girl he has become enamored Guem Jan Di (GU HYE SEON) was dolled up and was dancing with F4 member and Jun Pyo's best friend Ji Hoo.

Now in the Korean Adaptation Jun Pyo had a fear of bugs I mean an over the top fear. Seeing a cricket by the pool he freaked out and fell in the pool.

Jan Di happened by and extracted him from the pool and began CPR and suddenly Jun Pyo sprung awake (he was faking) and tried kissing Jan Di. She decked him. Yet he still seemed oh so happy.

But Jan Di doesn't like Jun Pyo (yet) she's still hung up on Ji Hoo (KIM HYUN JOONG)

DEBU TO LOVE TO AYAMACHI to! (2022, JAPAN)

Episode 8 The Finale

Just released on Viki, this dramedy is a winner. Like most winners it isn't perfect but it's lovely.

It tells the story of plus-sized depressed Koda Yumeko (UEDA KANADE) who is in the beginning decides to kill herself by jumping off the roof to her death.

She survives and awakens with amnesia taking on a whole new persona of different more colorful clothes and much more bubbly attitude. Much more outgoing.

Yumeko works for a candy company and she is in love with the company's vice president Yuki Keisuke (KUSAKAWA TAKUYA) and with her new personality she decides to pursue him.

But she also meets newbie to the company Shoinji Takeru (TAKAHASHI KENSUKE) who immediately likes and respect her despite her size. He is gorgeous (and those white pants are lovely)

He reveals his feelings after she goes back to her sad sack persona. She says she only likes Keisuke. Takeru understands and knew all along. Props to him for looking at a person and not her size.

Silly at times but with a touching realistic topic, it's worth the watch.

Episode 7

May (KANYARAT RUANGRUNG aka Piploy) is a very skilled girl and she seems fearless. Even going up against the sadistic Karn (PHROMPHIRIYA THONGPUTTARUK aka PAPANG) who is in search of his wife Mink. Mink is being hidden by Pheem (KITTIPHOP SEREEVICHAYASAWAT aka SATANG) and as Karn follows May she gives the impression she is doing the deed with Pheem.

Karn doesn't search any further. May is dangling them all by string...

BOYS OVER FLOWERS (2009, KOREAN ADAPTATION)

As Gu Jun-Pyo (LEE MIN-HO) alerts the student body that Jan Di (GU HYE SEON) is his lady and therefore any action against her, he'll consider it against him and act accordingly.

An objection (in jest) is heard from behind them. It's Guem Jan Di's first crush Ji Hoo (KIM HYUNG JOONG) and Gu Jun-Pyo's best friend back from trying to win his first love.

His return reunites F4 and So Yi Jung (KIM BUM) and Song Woo Bin (KIM JOON) are thrilled to have him back. However his brokenheart will lead to more problems for Jun-Pyo and Jan Di's "fragile relationship"

Jan Di races to get away from her new fan club as the girlfriend of F1 (GU JUN-PYO) only to run into F2 (YOON JI HOO) in their former meeting spot. So begins their (for lack of better word) secret relationship or perhaps situationship

When a girl she thought was her friend sets her up to look like a slut Jan Di (GU HYE SEON) is dropped by a angry jealous Gu Jun-Pyo (LEE MIN-HO) even though they aren't even dating.

As such the school students resume bullying the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. But at that moment Gu Jun-Pyo is learning the truth.

As the bullying escalates leaving Jan Di in dire straits her non boyfriend (who is madly in love with her) surfaces and takes out a couple of the bullying students as the rest back down.

Apologizing to Jan Di, Jun-Pyo picks her up and takes her to his mansion for some personal care.

But the non couple face more as Gu Jun-Pyo's best friend Ji Hoo (and Jan Di's first F4 crush returns after failing to reunite with his first love)

Episode 11

Sour grapes and power isn't a very good combination. The powerful Lee Bo Gyeom has engineered a supernatural break up between Jin Seo Won (CHA EUN WOO) and Han Hae Na (PARK GYU YOUNG) and the two are unaware but aware of it as Bo Gyeom made his plan clear.

However it appears Jin Seo Won may have a spark of recognition.

Cha Eun Sang (PARK SHIN-HYE) is beautiful girl hiding behind a ponytail and Kim Tan (LEE MIN-HO) wants to see her with her hair down. He took her hair tie before school. As she tries to put her hair in a ponytail again. Kim Tan steals her hair tie again.

As she turns she gets a glimpse of another student that likes her but bullies her (very Hana Yori Dango/Meteor Garden/Boys Over Flowers)

Though Kim Tan is her choice ultimately. Did Choi Young Do (KIM WOO-BIN) deserve a chance with Cha Eun Sang?

Episode 8

Max (KAY LERTSITTICHAI) is in a bind, and there is a chance he could lose his future with no help in sight. Top and his father have targeted Max.

Kul (PHUWIN TANGSAKYUEN) isn't a bad person but rather he's in a bad situation. Like Max he lacks money.

Both depending on the hustle of sorts to move themselves forward. Max depended on Mrs. Venus to accomplish his swimming goals, while Kul has used himself. Basically selling the only thing he has...himself. He has sold himself to the manipulative Top because he felt he had no other choice.

However Kul's knowledge of Top puts him in a place to help Max. Now Kul and Max are not exactly friends but will Kul watch as Max loses everything?
