Rewatching the first tr pangkey meeting VOD and I can't get over how the "passive threatening" that trLukey mocks him for feels so normal in LS culture.

Like trPangi himself didn't see it as threats. He showed him secret weapons, told him it's in trLukeys best interest to be on his side, to keep these secrets. He showed him it was in his disinterest to ever betray him. Flexed his strength and his power to keep him hooked.

See for trPangi, trust with a new teammate is almost forcefully transactional, almost blackmail. If you're gonna make yourself vulnerable with base locations or secret plans you need to give them a reason to not betray you. It's so inherently self-serving, you need to offer someone something to make sure they're not gonna cross you.

So to trLukey who is new and sees his position in the faction already locked down he doesn't even comprehend that trPangi is trying to dissuade him from any potential betrayals, doesn't look for things to gain in his new teammates. That's a cultural difference they never could have bridged at that time,,

Also this exchange:

trPangi: "Im not a terrible guy. [...] Well, if someone messes with me, I fuck them up yeah"

trLukey: "Well, I do love to mess..."

trPangi, grinning: "But not with me, right?"

This is such a fun conversation knowing now that trLukey is the only person that can mess with him, the only person he tolerates and enjoys the teasing from....

An au in which Lukey is a ‘scientist’ who gets recruited by “supervillains” Mr. X (aka: Bad) and the Pangolin (aka: Pangi, go figure) to make super cool evil technology for them so they can take down Foolish’s hero agency once and for all

…But they didn’t exactly do their research and they picked the only scientist in the city who isn’t into robotics or engineering. Lukey is a biochemist currently working at a goddamn coffee shop because his degrees got revoked and he has to be able to afford his mad science equipment somehow

But he also hates the heroes because one of them, Butterfly Knight, nearly killed him. So he agrees to become Mr. X and the Pangolin’s Guy In The Chair in exchange for equipment and a safe place to Science in.

He’s going to trick the villains!! They won’t know that he isn’t a robotics guy, he can fool them easily!

(They figure it out immediately, but Pangi is so immediately endeared that not only does he make the executive decision to keep Lukey on the team despite the attempted trickery, but he and Lukey end up on comms together on an almost daily basis while Pangi does his so-called Villain Things)

(And when Lukey gives up on the lying after a whole entire week of trying to invent a functioning automatic grappling hook, he admits the truth, gets pushed around for it, and is punished by having to invent biological weapons for Pangi to use, and he has to help keep the secret that the infamous supervillain the Pangolin doesn’t actually have any superpowers)

(But that’s fine, because Lukey doesn’t have any either)

Idk what was in the air that day they were being just so them idek. Like in a span of 60 seconds it's twice that Lukey calls Pangi like that and if you notice Pangi responds his "mhmm?" in the same inflection that Lukey called his name in

Lukey just loves toying with Pangi and treats him like his own stress toy to just push and pull with - hitting him, going upto him to get hit and Pangi obliges — no matter how much he sighs or shakes his head — he always obliges in their little game. tr!Pangi subconsciously has always known to enjoy power and you can see with how much ease he just hits Lukey without even breaking a sweat and walks away and only stops when Lukey calls him back like that.

And we already know how much Lukey enjoys the power balance as if his giggles throughout the whole thing weren't already an obvious clue. But yeah does he have to say Pangi's name like that like stand up dear god 😭😭

But I feel it's really cute that there's this familiarity in their interactions like a rehearsed dance that a third party will really not get if they're not used to them being idiots like this.
