#Phione Ingo AU variant

Pardon us Boss, but we've been thinking about the Phione Ingo branch off of your Phione!Akari AU- are we permitted to write a wee bit of angst concerning it? Nothing solid at the moment because too many ideas, and we wished to ask for permission first.

In fact on that same note- may we know angst limitations? So if we are permitted to write what we're thinking, we can commit to all safety checks and stay behind the yellow line.

We know that the main au is preferred, but can't help but be curious- do you have any stray thoughts about this branch off? Random things that have come to mind? We enjoy hearing about all of it really, your mind is truly exemplary. We do not want this message to be terribly long, otherwise we would write down some thoughts we've had ourselves. Perhaps in the next one.

Hello!! Thank you for asking!!

It would certainly be allowed and I’m honored you want to write something about it ;w; as for angst limitations, I’m unsure what you’re thinking about doing so I can’t say for sure, but just in general for reference, I’m uncomfortable with heavy/detailed/prolonged gore or death, or bad endings that imply it only continues or gets worse. I can’t think of anything else that bothers me at the moment in regards to angst, so if it’s not those, it’s good!!

I admit this variation of the AU is not nearly as fleshed out haha. But I’ve had some thoughts on it before, and I just thought on it a little more to add some details:

- the incident happens when, opposite of the Phione Akari AU, Ingo does go with Akari to find Manaphy.

-Akari is unable to catch Manaphy, who flees from the cavern. Manaphy bumps into Ingo, who is waiting outside the cavern. Surprises Manaphy into a heart attack, and gets heartswapped.

-Akari finds both of them (she thought they had all left, but at least a Phione is still here to catch!). She doesn’t know they heartswapped, they’re just both unconscious. FREAKS OUT. She has Braviary take them to Galaxy Hall to get Ingo(Phione) to Pesselle while she tends to Phione(Ingo).

-She brings Ingo back to consciousness, who is rightfully confused and horrified. By the time she goes to check back on ‘Ingo’, Pesselle says he woke up and left in a hurry before she could calm him down; he was freaked out.

-now Akari is stuck with this Phione that is all over the place, and is SO LOUD, always making noises at her and constantly looking distressed. And it refuses to be caught in a pokeball; it dodges every time she tries.

-Akari thinks Ingo ran off because he was concerned that she was still at the sea cavern; he was unconscious at the time anyways, he didn’t know! He probably ran back to find her! She goes looking for him (and while she’s not too worried at first, as the days go by she will become terrified something happened).

-Seeing him as only a tiny, squishy sea creature who’s defenseless, Akari treats Ingo like a baby and shows him off like one to people, as she does with all of her small, cute pokemon. Ingo loathes it. SHE DOES NOT KNOW AND SHE’S ABSOLUTELY MORTIFIED WHEN SHE FINDS OUT LATER.

-Also, as a Phione, the gem on Ingo’s chest is his up triangle symbol to distinguish him.

I think at least Ingo could have a better time getting Akari to know it's him.

How could a random wild Pokémon know something so typical Ingo despite just bumping into him.

The moment of recognition won't be nearly as heartfelt as the one in OG heartswap. (more like, wait what? HOW) but I can definitely see moments that could get serious.

In regards to this post

Yes those could make it easier! He has flippers instead of fingers, but I think the overall pose would still be recognizable enough.

And yeah! The reason why it takes so long for Ingo to figure out it’s Akari in the OG version is because just thinking someone turned into a pokemon isn’t a reasonable option to consider. It just doesn’t happen!! He wouldn’t even think of it!

Akari wouldn’t either at first, but she’s intuitive. With such a recognizable pose as a hint, she might be able to figure out what happened a little quicker. (And I imagine she’s done more research on Manaphy than Ingo would/ maybe also knows about the ability because of more accessible knowledge from her own time, compared to Ingo, who would have forgotten it? Knowing just a little more about this pokemon may help her come to the realization quicker).

Sorry, Phione brainworm going again- but Phione!Ingo after that 70th or so Pokéball cracks him in the back of the skull honestly. Not even a liquid body could sustain so many pro-level shots to the head with what's basically a slightly hollowed out rock lmao

Brother is just. Head empty. Who needs regular old amnesia when 30 odd concussions can do the same job?

It becomes amnesia ² and when he starts seeing stars he may even think all of this is just a horrific nightmare for a moment. But no, he’s still in this useless body and still trying to evade 5lbs pokeballs.

tbh Ingo heartswap with a Phione would be interesting and hilarious on many levels:

Someone has to get involved to watch over the Sneaslets in Ingo’s stead (Zisu volunteers and after a week of Sneaslets) and I do believe that he would have a much harder time getting Akari to know its him. Also how long can they keep it a secret from the Clans? (Ingo missing clan meetings and Melli complaining to Adaman that there was no Ingo to complain to when he needed someone to complain to)

Honestly all about that is hilarious to imagine.

This variant of the AU is pretty fun to think about haha.

Compared to the canon variant where it’s Akari who gets heart-swapped with a phione, I think Ingo would have a much harder time getting Akari to realize he is a phione - Akari would just be focused on trying to catch him for her pokedex.

And yes, it wouldn’t take too long to notice Ingo is missing. Probably a day or so, when Melli starts complaining that the sneaslets are incessantly pestering him now. Why isn’t Ingo around to keep these pests away from him??
