Plutrach writes that Theseus had a tutor named Connidas growing up so of course I made an OC out of him... in my mind Connidas was a student of Pittheus and later became a scholar on his own right. He loved teaching </3 He later married Aethra and they have a daughter together, Clymene.

Made a Hades game sideblog so I can talk about my HCs and stuff without them being lost to the void that is twitter 💖 so here's a few.

✨ Theseus' spear and shield once belonged to his great grandfather, Pelops. He picked them both up after discarding his father's sword on Naxos... (but perhaps that same sword is in the possession of someone else, now.)

✨ While I'm sure the real world explanation for this is simply inconsistencies between concept vs. final, I think that in universe, the reason why Ariadne's thread is red in the king's portrait and golden in actuality is due to a case of faulty memory. The yarn had gotten soaked with blood during the labyrinth fight, and Theseus misremembered it as having always been red.

✨ Regarding the portrait, it was started before Theseus left to Crete and finished when he came back. It was originally going to be of a young Aegeus, which is why it doesn't especially resemble Theseus.

(Aegeus had paler skin and hair than Theseus himself, and bright eyes compared to Theseus' grey-blue. Even when he was already somewhat elderly when Theseus met him, his eyes stood out greatly).

✨ The sail Theseus was supposed to lift to indicate he was alive was scarlet red and dyed with mulberry (this is from Plutrach)... ever since then, Theseus has had a particular aversion to the colour red.
