I read this on Quora. It’s a response to a prompt: “Is Paul McCartney a jerk?” I thought I would share it because it’s an interesting story from Wings’ early days, and it has to do with people wanting Paul to play Beatles songs.
Paul McCartney is :
One of the most talented individuals ever.
A living legend.
An honest and genuine individual.
Definitely NOT a jerk.
What is my evidence for this? ….. read on.
Having been born and raised in Liverpool in the 50s and 60s , I was devastated to hear of the break up of the Beatles as a teenager in the mid 70’s.
The cause for the split was subject to great speculation and still largely unknown. One thing that stood out , looming larger after the split was rift between the greatest singer song writing duo of all time (Lennon & McCartney) which was highlighted by John’s creation of his song “How do you sleep?”. This direct personal assault on Lennon’s former ‘other half’ may have been previously triggered by McCartney’s solo ditty in his eponymous album (McCartney) quoting the words “ I used to ride on my fast city lights signing songs that I thought were mine alone. …….. Man we was lonely, yes we was lonely but now we’re fine all the while.”.
Lennon’s worded response in his missive “How do you sleep?” was “So Sgt. Pepper took you by surprise, you better look right through that mother’s eyes. Those freaks was right when they said you was dead ( a reference to an earlier fake news report that ‘Macca’ was dead and a replica was living in his stead ) the one mistake you made was using your head. “
Lennon’s musical assault on his former song writing co-author heightened in the lines “ The only thing you done was YESTERDAY and since you’re gone you’re just ANOTHER DAY. The sound you make is music to my ears , you must have learned SOMETHING in all those years”. A reference to 2 before split and on post split McCartmey classics. Although 2 were if course Lennon / McCartney classics. When with the Beatles the 2 may have penned songs solo but always shared the credit as a truly unique double act. Of course with Ringi and George wrote a few classics too and the Beatles will always ,rightly, be remembered as ‘For lads who shook the world’.
Both Lennon and McCartney denied that there was any animosity in both sets of post Beatles split song lyrics claiming that it was just a coincidence.
Fast forward a few years until when the Beatles had split in and around the time of the aforementioned songs about the Lennon & McCartney Beatles split experience.
As a college student in Liverpool in the mid 70’s my fraternity and I would attend open mic’ gigs in Liverpool Polytechnic (known locally as the Poly) in the hope that we might stumble across the next big thing. After numerous average guest stars ( the highlight of which was a guy who later became known as Shaking Stevens) we waited for another group to set up for another normal night of musical entertainment.
As I wondered towards the stage , literally a small elevated segment of a tiny music arena , trying to gain an insight into when the band would start, a lady was struggling to bring in the group’s equipment. As a potential gentleman, who couldn’t understand the concept of a female groupie humping in heavy kit, (forgive my chauvinism but things were less informed in the 70’s) I offered assistance to the lady with carrying in the equipment when to my amazement Paul McCartney came in to assist the lady, Linda in bringing in the group’s kit. It was one of the first iterations of what later became know as Paul McCartney & Wings.
My fellow college students and I were later royally entertained by the , then, emerging group singing songs such as “Junior’s farm’ and “Give Ireland back to the Irish” as well as numbers from the eponymous McCartney solo album. Of course ZERO Beatles’ song were played as it was not the norm at that time.
McCartney , who you contest is a jerk , paid the entire bar bill for all at the gig and stayed and mingled with star struck fans long into the night.
Why is he not a jerk?
Fast forward some time later to McCartney & Wings’ first gig at the Liverpool Empire some years later. Wings were by this time famous having such hits as “Band on the Run” and Venus & Mars”.
The same by now a couple of years older group of students, perhaps with a bigger number knowing that McCartney was actually playing, gathered to see Wings again in a somewhat larger arena of the Liverpool Empire.
Whilst we were all aware that McCartney would not , at the time , sing ‘Beatles’ songs, one of our group by the name of Ged Smith, was determined to have McCartney play “The long and winding road” which was his favourite Beatles song of all time. In between numbers and being close to the front of the stage having queued up to get the best seats , we continually cried out for “The long and winding road.”.
McCartney’s initial response to these calls was “Come on guys you know I can’t do those (Beatles) songs” to which we cried out louder “ Come on Macca we saw you at the Poly (Liverpool Polytechnic) ages ago”.
On hearing these shouts McCartney immediately remembered this and shared back “Was that you lads who helped Linda bring in our gear?”. He appeared to remember the night at the Liverpool Polytechnic equally as well as we had.
McCartney played for many hours that night as he was “back home” in Liverpool. Repeated cries for “The long and winding road” were greeted with muted McCartney responses of “Come on guys you know John would never forgive me if I sang that.”.
After many hours of performing, with at least 2 curtain calls Macca when seated at the piano declared “This is for the lads down the front who were at the Poly …… . He then belted out the unforgettable rendition of “The long and winding road . It was greeted by a tumultuous response the likes of which I have never heard in any circumstance.
That is why McCartney is not a jerk.
He’s a genius and the genuine article. He recalled interactions with individuals as well as , if not better, than we did so ourselves. At that night in the Liverpool Empire he deliberately threw his guitar strap at one of our group , Tommy McGuinness, who I know retained and treasured the article for many years afterwards.
McCartney’s music will be studied in centuries to come.
He is NOT a jerk , he’s a top class human being.
We know because we were there.
When McCartney leaves this earth, his tunes will still remain. Not a jerk , a genuine genius.

჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻ . ★ . ჻჻჻჻჻჻჻჻
Your lungs fill with the cool air of mid-September. The leaves are beginning to turn brown, a few falling onto the perfectly cut green lawn of the campus park. You can't wait to walk on them and hear them crunch under your shoes.
But for now, the sky remains blue on this late afternoon, dotted with a few cottony clouds, the gentle caress of the sun's warmth licking the skin of your cheeks. You breathe softly, calming your excited little heart for the new terrain that now stretches out before you.
At the end of this weekend, you'll begin your new year at the Academy of Science and Polytechnics, otherwise known to its students as ASP. Your previous university didn't live up to your expectations, nor did the one before that, but as they say, third time's the charm! At least, you hope so...
You're expecting to have a little more experience on various subjects than your future comrades, and you're quite happy to be starting out with a head start. Not that it's a competition, but the comfort you have with certain subjects is reassuring.
You're a little worried that the age gap might divide you from them, but you try to reassure yourself that, just in case, other people your age who want to change course will be along for the ride?
You give a quick nod, in the hope that it will give you enough courage and uprightness not to stumble and spread yourself like a pancake in a profoundly ridiculous fashion anywhere on campus, and start your walk to its entrance.
You're supposed to meet up with a certain Hobart Brown, who's supposed to be your guide for today - perhaps he's a student representative?
Whatever the case, you hope the visit won't be too long. Because not only is today your visiting day and the first time you've set foot in your new college, it's also the day when a good deal of your belongings are moved into your new apartment, which is located just a few blocks from the campus.
You'll receive several boxes containing, among other things, your books and the few manuals you've bought in previous years, clothes, your hygiene kit and a mattress to inflate. The apartment would be empty, with nothing but a refrigerator already installed as furniture.
You'd be on the third floor, the last one, as the building isn't very big or wide, with only two apartments per floor. You just hope your next-door neighbour won't be unpleasant. The reason you're hoping the visit won't be too long is that you'd like to take advantage of the delivery men’ presence to help you get everything up to your floor. Since the building is small, it lacks an elevator.
When you arrive at the large, imposing door of your university building, your gaze inevitably falls on a young man with an atypical style leaning against the wall right next to the entrance. Piercings, free hair, punk clothes and an aura of I-don't-give-a-shit to match, you wonder what degree he must be in.
With a toothpick wedged between his lips, he looks up at you, a shiver running down your spine as he tilts his head to the side.
"It's you? [Name] ?" he asks, calling your name, taking the toothpick from between his lips with his fingers.
It's at this precise moment that the realization hits you that the Hobart Brown you're supposed to find was this young man.
"Hobart?" you ask, raising both eyebrows.
"It's my name, but I prefer Hobie. Well," he nodded, rolling his eyes, "Hobie's a derivative of the one I was given at birth. Let's not get into the habit of names please, it's bad."
The scent of the anarchist anti-system was a perfume he nonetheless seemed to wear gracefully.
You pout understandingly, your lips forming into an inverted smile as you answer simply.
"Gotcha."
He smiles, nodding.
"Well, you're here for a tour," he says as he starts walking towards the interior of the building and you follow him, "but that's a particularly broad and useless term in this context. A tour only lasts once, and you discover things. But since you're going to be coming back here frequently, and you're still likely to discover new places, you could say I'm introducing you to the building."
"Are you in Arts?" you suggest as he walks down a corridor which you look at on either side where classes with their numbers are inscribed. "No, let me guess, you're in Philosophy."
"And you're perceptive." he smiles. "I like you, you seem to catch on quickly."
The university is, after all, home to the vast majority of the sciences, including the humanities. So Hobie is in philosophy, which is not surprising. It's interesting that he was the chosen student for your tour - sorry, introduction to the academy.
"Here's a typical corridor, nothing special, you'll come across lots of them," he sighs as he swings his hand in the air as if chasing a flying insect around him. "On the other hand, on this floor there are a few empty classrooms that we use from time to time, and obviously without the knowledge of the professoriate."
"Makes perfect sense," you say with a shrug.
"It's very useful for the meetings we hold about blockades," he informs, turning to you while walking backwards. "FYI," his ring-fingered hand rests on his chest, "I'm kind of the leader of our blockade committee, although being a leader or having one at your head isn't something I endorse. You could say I'm... the spokesman, the one who makes the speeches at our rebellion events, because let's face it, when you get tear gas thrown in your face, it can be confusing."
He seems to look you up and down, weighing up the pros and cons for a few seconds.
"Would you like to join us?" he finally said, with a jerk of his chin in your direction.
You crossed your arms, looking up at him.
"I'll think about it," you reply simply.
He smirks before turning again and walking straight ahead.
"Now, let me show you what will really matter here for you. You're in 'real' science, aren't you? You like playing chemist? Toying with vials?"
Hobie's little prejudices make you smile and laugh slightly.
"If you're nice, the one who toys with vials will show you how to make a better assortment of components to respond to tear gas."
He turned to you, laughing heartily and pointing at you as he walked to the staircase at the end of the corridor.
"I like you," he repeated as he led you upstairs.
"This is the second floor, in case you can't count. I don't know all your stuff and your complicated scientific words for this or that or such-and-such subject," he says, his head tilting this way or that, "but one thing's for sure: this is where you'll have most of your classes."
In the hallway in question, coming from a room that had just been locked by her, a lovely dark-skinned lady with gorgeous afro hair was walking towards you.
"And you may well find yourself in class with Mrs. Drew," he said, almost raising his voice and smiling as you walked towards her.
She walked slowly, unhurried, chin high as she smiled at the young man's call.
"Hobie, convincing one more person to tag the campus lawn with a capital A?" she said in a voice that was half sigh and half sneer as she came up to your level.
"You know me at this point, you know I never do the same thing twice," he says with a shrug before plunging his hands into his back pockets. "But for once I'm bringing in a bright element that will go into your side." he turns to you.
"A new student?" asks Professor Drew as her eyes settle on you.
"Nice to meet you, I'm [Name]," you smile simply.
"Welcome, miss." she says, inhaling heavily. "I hope you'll get used to the rhythm here, it can sometimes prove to be merciless."
"Jess, don't be so hard on a new arrival, you'll scare her away," warned a new voice.
A slightly disheveled man with light brown hair came towards you.
"This," Hobie began, "is Professor Parker. You're going to have to put up with him too."
"Eh, I'm not someone you 'put up with'," commented the aforementioned Parker, imitating a finger-crunching reaction to the use of words, "it's not my fault your religion is Spinoza and mine is Mendeleev."
"It's crazy how you're both so distinctly the same mental age," Jess sighed. "Anyway, welcome to our midst miss." and she headed off down the hall.
"Oh, so you're new!" realized Peter, "welcome to ASP."
"Stands for Appearant Soporiphic Problem," Hobie sneers.
"Does Freud have an acronym too?" puffs Peter.
"Of course," he says before raising his hand as if viewing an imaginary title in the air, "MI."
"Mission impossible?" asks Peter, frowning.
"Mommy Issues." corrects Hobie.
"Very funny," laughed Peter falsely, "I hope that as a reconversion option you've chosen the circus?"
"I'm already there. "
"I am fully convinced you never graduated kindergarten." This little chat lasted a few more minutes before Peter in turn left to go home and the visit continued. Ten minutes later, the visit was over.
You told Hobie that you were new to the city, and that everything was a bit of a discovery. You learnt that the building was very old, just like a few others in the town, and that many changes of direction had led to it being rebuilt over the years, while preserving its charming, slightly old-fashioned setting. "Well, I've shown you the parts that are important to you here," says Hobie as he descends the few small steps leading to the building's main entrance. "You mentioned that you were new to the city, so do you need a mini 'tour' of it too? Just the surrounding area, to familiarise yourself a little", he suggests.
Here's your first choice! Select the option you want.
Choice A: Decline and go straight to your flat. Choice B: Accept and take a short tour of the surrounding area.

Ann Way Season: Fawlty Towers - Gourmet Night, and Conclusions
I'm afraid this series of posts on roles played by actress Ann Way is coming to a rather abrup halt because I have found that I really don't fancy blogging about two appearances I had on my list. One is an episode of Lovejoy in which I was revolted by the depiction of Jews to the extent that I just turned it off, and the other is an episode of Two's Company, a show which I do like very much, but unfortunately I just found I really didn't have anything to say about it except that Ann Way appeared in it.
Of course you could well say the same about Fawlty Towers, in that what is there to say about this legendary series that hasn't already been said? Probably what I'm going to have to say is a bit peripheral to the subject of the episode, but surely everyone reading this knows the Fawlty Towers script backwards at this point, and if you don't you jolly well should.
It tickles me no end that the inspiration for Basil Fawlty was a real hotel proprietor, Donald Sinclair, the owner of the Gleneagles Hotel in Torquay, where the Pythons stayed at one point:
'In May 1970, the Monty Python comedy group stayed at the now-demolished Gleneagles Hotel in Torquay, Devon while filming on location in Paignton.[7] John Cleese was fascinated with the behaviour of the owner, Donald Sinclair, later describing him as "the rudest man I've ever come across in my life".[8] Among such behaviour by Sinclair was his criticism of Terry Gilliam's "too American" table etiquette and tossing Eric Idle's briefcase out of a window "in case it contained a bomb".[9] Asked why anyone would want to bomb the hotel, Sinclair replied, "We've had a lot of staff problems".[10] Michael Palin states Sinclair "seemed to view us as a colossal inconvenience".[10] Rosemary Harrison, a waitress at the Gleneagles under Sinclair, described him as "bonkers" and lacking in hospitality, deeming him wholly unsuitable for a hotel proprietor. "It was as if he didn't want the guests to be there."[11] Cleese and his then-wife Connie Booth stayed on at the hotel after filming, furthering their research of its owner.' (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fawlty_Towers)
I would strongly recommend getting the box set of the remastered version of Fawlty Towers because it's got lots of commentary, and the one by John Cleese on this episode is particularly interesting. It turns out Sinclair wasn't the only real person who inspired Fawlty Towers and the guests who cancel for gourmet night at the last minute are also named after some people who were supposed to be going to dinner with Cleese and Connie Booth and cancelled at the last minute, so their name has been immortalised on the telly!
Ann Way's role is as the diminutive Mrs Hall, whom Basil tells not to get up when she is actually standing!
Just as an aside, I must mention a modern actor who I think is on a par in terms of acting ability and derangement with John Cleese/Basil Fawlty. It is Henry Shields, a member of the Mischief theatre company. As the put-upon director of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, he does genuinely reach levels of despair of desperation which match Basil's despair over the dinner in this episode, and I would recommend readers to watch The Goes Wrong Show for this among so many other reasons.
Conclusions
Unfortunately I would estimate that I have only been able to see Ann Way in about half of the TV roles she played, so I can't tell whether what I've seen is representative of her work, because it's all been rather minor roles. I have seen her in a couple of films and so think that probably she played larger, although not starring, roles in films than she did in TV, although as say I can't be sure of this. I think it a pity that she was confined to minor roles, if she was, because her acting shows a real versatility, well beyond the dotty old lady she is largely remembered for.
Nonetheless this viewing of the shows that are available to me has awakened a new appreciation for her acting ability.
As before, watching the output of a particular actor has obliged me to see shows I have never seen before, and I have particularly appreciated discovering Lollipop Loves Mr Mole (which I had no idea existed, and unfortunately only has two surviving episodes) and discovered Dr Finlay's Casebook. I honestly have no idea how I have managed to watch old TV for so long and managed not to see this show, which I now appreciate for its gentle, although perhaps somewhat didactic treatment of big issues that a GP would come across in his practise. It's also brought shows to my attention which I probably won't be following up but it's nice sometimes to be reminded that there is television outside my own interests. Sergeant Cork is one of those series which I've just never fancied, but have now seen one episode of, and to this series of posts I owe my discovery of the 1964 series Detective and the discovery that there are several of its episodes online.
As before, blogging through the output of a particular actor has been an interesting and broadening experience.

A Day in the Life of a Maritime Student at Aklan Polytechnic College

Being a maritime student isn’t just about going to class—it’s about preparing for a career full of adventure, hard work, and responsibility. As a group of five students at Aklan Polytechnic College, we’re all working towards becoming future seafarers, and no two days are exactly the same. Here’s what a typical day looks like for us.
Mornings: A Slow Start, Preparing for the Day Ahead
We’re not in a huge rush in the mornings. We usually get up around 7:00 AM, which gives us plenty of time to relax and prepare before our classes start at 1:00 PM. It’s the perfect time to review notes, get through any last-minute assignments, or just take a breather and get mentally ready for the day. By noon, we’re dressed, prepared, and on our way to campus.
Classes: Learning the Skills to Sail the Seas
Our first class of the day is English 100, which helps us sharpen our English skills. Clear communication is crucial on a ship, especially when you’re working with an international crew, so we take this class seriously (most of the time!). After English, it’s time for NGEC 9—math. Let’s be honest, math can be tough, but it’s a must-have skill in the maritime industry. Whether we’re calculating fuel or plotting a course, numbers are going to be a huge part of our lives at sea.
After that, it’s NGEC 10, which dives into science—specifically biology, sex, and gender. It’s a different kind of class compared to the others, but understanding these topics is crucial in today’s diverse working environment, especially when we’ll be part of multicultural crews.
Next up is one of our favorite subjects, DE-ETMI, which stands for Emerging Technology in the Maritime Industry. This is where things get exciting—we talk about the future of shipping, automation, and how tech is changing the maritime world. It's crazy to think about what kind of ships we’ll be working on in a few years!
Then, there’s NAV-1—our Navigation class. This is where the real hands-on stuff happens, and we love it. Learning how to navigate using charts and compasses is tricky but rewarding. Plus, this is the heart of what we’ll be doing when we finally get to sea, so it’s both challenging and exciting.
We end the day with NGEC 5, another English course focused on communication. Whether it’s sending reports or just making sure instructions are clear on deck, these skills will be a huge part of our day-to-day work in the future.
After Classes: Straight Home to Study
Once classes are over, we don’t stick around too long. We usually head straight home to hit the books. Studying together helps us reinforce what we’ve learned during the day, and it makes sure we’re all keeping up with the challenges that each subject brings.

From the 1978/79 school year, military instruction was introduced for polytechnic and extended secondary schools. In each of the 9th and 10th grades, four double lessons were devoted to the subject of national defence. Ninth graders also took part in a twelve-day »Wehrlager« (military camp), while their female classmates completed a civil defence course of the same length. In the following school year, an additional three-day »Wehrbereitschaft« (Readiness for defence) was introduced for all. Boys who did not want to take part in the military camp officially had the option of taking part in the course for girls, but had to reckon with negative reactions. The »Hans Beimler competitions« for 14- to 16-year-olds, introduced in 1967, included sporting disciplines such as the »hand grenade target throw«, cross-country races and shooting with air and small-calibre rifles. Today we show you these practice hand grenades from our collection that were used for military instruction. #DDR #ddrgeschichte #geschichte #museum #berlin #gdr #sport — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/HCZkX82

List of Quick 2-Year Degree Programs After 12th in India (2025)
The major question is 2 years of degree courses after 12th; most students desire to study, but would like shorter courses so that they can work early. Two-year degree courses are an ideal choice for this. These courses provide you with practical expertise and information in less time than conventional 3- or 4-year degrees.
What Are 2-Year Courses?
There are plenty of 2-year courses such as Medical Lab Technology, Radiography, or X-ray Technology, Fashion Designing or Animation & Multimedia, Business Management or Financial Accounting, Journalism, and Digital Video Production
These are undergraduate courses that are completed in approximately 2 years.
Typical ones are Associate's degrees and a few higher-level diploma programs.
They include general subjects such as science, commerce, arts, and social sciences.
Some courses are concerned with practical and employment-related skills.
Types of 2-Year Degree courses after 12th
Associate's Degree: A widely popular 2-year degree providing general education and attainable through community colleges or universities.
Professional Diplomas: Lesser duration courses in particular areas such as nursing, applied science, or technical skills.
Technical Programs: Competency-based courses in fields like welding, automotive technology, or HVAC
Popular Professional Courses After 12th
Medicine: MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), Nursing, Pharmacy. These courses lead to careers in healthcare and require a science background (Physics, Chemistry, Biology).
Engineering: Diploma and degree courses in different streams such as Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and Computer Science. Admission usually requires PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) in the 12th and entrance tests such as BITSAT or JEE.
Business Administration: BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) is favored by students who want to pursue management, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Eligibility normally demands a 12th pass with 50% marks minimum, and admission can be through merit or entrance tests such as CUET or IPU CET.
Journalism and Mass Communication: Media, journalism, digital content creation, and communication courses. These equip students to join news, media houses, and digital websites.
Information Technology: BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications), etc., courses emphasize computer programming, software development, and IT infrastructure.
Law: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or integrated law courses after 12th make one eligible for legal careers.
Main Points Regarding Professional Courses
Duration: Typically 3 to 4 years for degree courses; diploma and certificate courses can be shorter (8 months to 2 years).
Eligibility: 12th pass with the concerned subjects and a minimum percentage (typically 45-50%).
Entrance Exams: Most courses require clearing entrance exams such as CUET, MAT, BITSAT, GPAT, CLAT, etc.
Recognition: Programs are recognized by organizations such as UGC, AICTE, PCI (Pharmacy), and BCI (Bar Council of India) to provide quality education.
Career Opportunities: With these courses, students can become employed in hospitals, IT firms, law firms, media organizations, business firms, and more.
UG Diploma Courses in India
Undergraduate (UG) diploma courses are diplomas of shorter durations, typically 1-2 years, offered in areas such as:
Popular UG Diploma Courses in India
Diploma in Computer Science and IT: Includes programming (Python, Java), networking, cybersecurity, and database management. The graduates can be software testers, IT support specialists, or junior developers.
Diploma in Digital Marketing, Graphic Designing, Web Designing, Animation & VFX: Technology and creative-oriented diplomas that prepare candidates for marketing, design, and multimedia sectors.
Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, etc.): Polytechnic diplomas with emphasis on technical skills and practical training in different branches of engineering.
Diploma in Business Management, Event Management, Journalism: Diplomas that equip students for administrative, marketing, and media work careers.
Diploma in Data Science and Analytics, Artificial Intelligence: Emerging fields with diplomas aimed at data handling, AI technologies, and analytics.
Diploma in Fashion Designing, Hotel Management, Agriculture: Specialized diplomas for the creative and service industry.
Why Opt for 2-Year Courses?
Opting for a 2-year course after the 12th standard is gaining more and more popularity among students due to the following practical reasons:
Early Entry into the Job Market: The courses are shorter than conventional 3- or 4-year degrees, enabling you to acquire work-ready skills and enter the workforce earlier. This is perfect if you wish to start earning early or acquire work experience early on.
Affordable Education: As 2-year programs consume fewer hours, they typically are less expensive in terms of tuition fees and living costs than longer degree courses. This makes education within reach for most students.
Practical and Focused Learning: These courses specialize in experiential skills and real-world knowledge in certain areas such as business administration, digital marketing, medical laboratory technology, and fashion design. Such specialized learning gets you effectively ready for work requirements.
Flexibility and Choice: There are numerous 2-year courses covering various streams like Science, Commerce, Arts, and Technology. You have the option to pick a course according to your hobby and profession.
Career Opportunities and Higher Studies: With a 2-year course, you can find decent job opportunities and even use it as a stepping stone in case you wish to take up higher studies afterwards.
Growing Recognition and Acceptance: As government education agencies such as UGC endorse accelerated and flexible degree courses, 2-year courses are becoming accepted and recognized in India's education system.
Conclusion
2-year Degree courses provide a wise, time-saving opportunity to acquire useful skills, minimize cost and time, and start a professional career with confidence. Most colleges and universities in India provide such courses, but Arya College of Engineering & IT is among the best colleges in Rajasthan.

Academic Transcript Translation: Your Global Education Gateway
Academic Transcript Translation: Your Gateway to Global Education
In an increasingly globalized world, pursuing higher education or professional opportunities abroad has become a common aspiration for many Indian students and professionals. A critical step in this journey is ensuring that academic qualifications are accurately understood and recognized by foreign institutions and authorities. This is where Academic Transcript Translation plays an indispensable role, transforming your educational achievements into a universally comprehensible format that meets international standards. More than just a linguistic conversion, it's about validating your scholarly journey across borders.

In 2025, with a surge in Indian students opting for international education, the demand for precise and certified academic translation services continues to grow, serving as a vital bridge between diverse educational systems.
What is Academic Transcript Translation?
Academic transcript translation involves converting educational documents, such as mark sheets, degrees, diplomas, and official transcripts, from one language to another. What distinguishes it from general translation is its stringent requirement for:
Absolute Accuracy: Every grade, subject name, credit, and abbreviation must be translated precisely without any alterations or interpretations. A single error could lead to misjudgment of qualifications.
Specialized Terminology: Understanding the specific terminology of various academic disciplines, grading systems, and educational structures, which can vary significantly between countries.
Format Adherence: Maintaining the original layout and format as closely as possible to ensure clarity and authenticity.
Certification and Legalization: For official use, academic translations almost always require a certification statement from the translator or agency, affirming accuracy and completeness. Additionally, notarization and sometimes an Apostille from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) may be required for acceptance by foreign universities or immigration bodies (especially for countries signatory to the Hague Apostille Convention).
Why is Academic Transcript Translation Crucial?
University Admissions Abroad: International universities require accurate translations of your academic records to evaluate your eligibility, compare your qualifications to their standards, and make admission decisions.
Credential Evaluation: Agencies like WES (World Education Services) or ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators) in North America, often required for admissions or immigration, depend entirely on accurate translations to assess foreign qualifications.
Immigration Applications: For skilled migration visas (e.g., to Canada, Australia, UK), immigration authorities need translated academic documents to assess educational qualifications and points for eligibility.
Professional Licensing and Employment: Many international professional bodies or employers require translated and verified academic credentials for licensing or employment purposes.
Scholarship Applications: To accurately present your academic standing for scholarship committees.
Documents Commonly Requiring Academic Transcript Translation:
Mark Sheets/Grade Reports: For all years/semesters of study.
Degree Certificates: Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, etc.
Diploma Certificates: For polytechnic or vocational courses.
Transcripts: Official comprehensive academic records issued by institutions.
Provisional Certificates: Temporary proof of degree completion.
Migration Certificates: For transferring between educational institutions.
Character Certificates/Bonafide Certificates: For student visa applications.
Course Syllabi/Curriculum: Sometimes required for detailed course equivalency evaluation.
Qualifications of Academic Translators:
Given the precision required, academic translators are usually:
Native Speakers: They are native speakers of the target language, ensuring natural and accurate phrasing.
Subject-Matter Aware: While not always experts in every academic field, they are well-versed in educational terminology and grading systems.
Experienced in Academic Translation: They have a proven track record of translating academic documents, understanding the specific formatting and content requirements.
Proficient in Certification: They know how to prepare a certified translation, often including a statement of accuracy, their credentials, and contact information.
Knowledgeable about Legalization: They understand the requirements for notarization and Apostille, and often provide assistance in facilitating these processes.
Finding Reliable Academic Transcript Translation Services in India
Choosing the right service provider is crucial for the success of your international academic or immigration goals. Look for agencies that offer:
Specialization in Academic Translation: They should have a dedicated focus on educational documents and understand the specific requirements of various international universities and credential evaluation bodies (like WES).
Certification & Notarization: They must provide a certified translation with an affidavit of accuracy and facilitate notarization by a Public Notary.
Apostille Assistance: A significant advantage is if they can also assist with the Apostille process from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), as many foreign institutions and immigration bodies require this.
Accuracy Guarantee: Reputable providers often offer a guarantee that their translation will be accepted by the intended official authority.
Confidentiality: Strict adherence to data privacy protocols is essential for personal academic records.
Fast Turnaround Times: Inquire about their typical delivery times and if they offer urgent services.
Online Processes: Many offer convenient online submission of documents and delivery of translated copies.
In major Indian cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Chennai, you can find reputable academic translation services by searching online. Look for agencies that are often recommended by study abroad consultants or immigration lawyers. Some well-known names that offer specialized services for academic documents in India include:
PEC Attestation & Apostille Services (often handle academic translations as part of their broader service)
Shakti Enterprise
Bhasha Bharati Arts
LanguageNoBar
Crystal Hues Ltd.
Tridindia
When contacting them, clearly state the purpose (e.g., "for WES evaluation," "for Canada PR," "for UK university admission") so they can provide the exact type of certification and legalization required.
Conclusion
Academic Transcript Translation is a foundational step for any Indian student or professional aspiring to global opportunities. It is more than just translating words; it's about accurately representing your educational journey and ensuring its recognition worldwide. Investing in professional, certified translation services ensures the global academic acceptance of your hard-earned qualifications.

The degrees you named aren’t the useful ones tbf, politics and philosophy aren’t subjects you should go to university for
i mean i'm not really concerned with "usefulness." i think those degrees are still useful in some sense. i just don't think they are necessarily indicators of intelligence or even knowledge. i know people even in stem fields who are dumb as fuck. like....anyone can theoretically get a degree so long as they put in the time and effort. people cheat and grind and cram all the time. then as soon as they pass whatever exam or course, they forget everything that isn't immediately necessary for them in their next step.
i'm not saying degrees are useless. they are very useful. my point is that they don't mean the holder is intelligent or educated.
and i actually disagree. i think things like philosophy and politics are exactly the thing people should go to university for. university should be primarily about "liberal arts." university should be about turning people into well-rounded, wise, worthy citizens.
if you're just going to university to get a stem degree so you can get a good paying job, that's counter to what i believe the purpose of university should be. that's precisely my problem. it's become literally more than a vocational credentialization and training service rather than actually cultivating the individual.
genuinely think they should legally create and enforce distinct institutions for these two goals. university as a paideia vs polytechnic human-capital factories.
#and a big part of the issue is “muh market forces"#funny#liberalism is killing the liberal arts#the incentives are all fucked up

Ann Way Season: Fawlty Towers - Gourmet Night, and Conclusions
I'm afraid this series of posts on roles played by actress Ann Way is coming to a rather abrupt halt because I have found that I really don't fancy blogging about two appearances I had on my list.
