Ronnie Atkins kündigt mit Trinity sein drittes Album an

Der bekannte und anerkannte dänische Hardrock-Sänger/Songwriter Ronnie Atkins (von Pretty Maids) hat die bevorstehende Veröffentlichung seines dritten Studioalbums TRINITY für den 13. Oktober 2023 angekündigt. Die erste Single und das Video zum Titeltrack des Albums sind heute erschienen. "Ich denke, das Album ist vielleicht ein bisschen schwerer geworden als die vorherigen, da die meisten Songs diesmal auf der Gitarre geschrieben wurden, aber vor allem ist es immer noch sehr melodisch", sagt Atkins. "Textlich geht es ziemlich genau um das, was heute in der Welt vor sich geht, und das inspiriert mich. Viele der Songs sind auch sehr persönlich und ich versuche, auch ein bisschen Optimismus hineinzubringen." Seit bei Ronnie Atkins 2019 Lungenkrebs im vierten Stadium diagnostiziert wurde, hat er keine Sekunde seiner kostbaren Zeit verloren, die er mit dem Komponieren und Aufnehmen zweier sehr erfolgreicher Veröffentlichungen verbracht hat - MAKE IT COUNT und sein Debütalbum ONE SHOT - die beide von Kritikern und Fans gleichermaßen gelobt wurden. Vor kurzem hat er auch seine Live-Shows in Europa mit seiner eigenen Band und mit dem Avantasia-Projekt in der ganzen Welt wieder aufgenommen. "Ich schätze, ich habe heute eine andere Perspektive auf das Leben als noch vor 4 Jahren, und ich genieße jeden Tag mit allem, was dazu gehört", fährt Ronnie fort. "Ich möchte noch hinzufügen, dass das Schreiben von Songs und das Auftreten auf der Bühne mich am Leben hält, denke ich. Ich mag es, mich auf die positiven Aspekte des Lebens zu konzentrieren und mich Dingen hinzugeben, die ich wirklich von Herzen tun möchte." Ein Gewinnerteam sollte nicht ausgewechselt werden, und so wurde das Album wieder von Chris Laney produziert, während Jacob Hansen sich um den Mix und das Mastering kümmerte. "Für mich ist ein guter Song eine gute Hook/Topline, und das ist so ziemlich das, was den Weg für das Endergebnis ebnet", fasst Ronnie Atkins zusammen und erklärt: "Es ist ein verdammt gutes, solides, melodisches Hardrock-Album. Ich bin sehr glücklich über das Endresultat. Ich hoffe, dass die Fans das neue Album annehmen werden und dass ich diese Songs bis 2024 mit auf Tour nehmen kann. Das ist mein Plan!" Resenha: Treat - “Tunguska”

Após voltar à ativa em 2006, deixando para trás um hiato de 13 anos, os suecos do Treat lançaram dois ótimos álbuns de estúdio, "Coup de Grace" (2010) e "Ghost of Graceland" (2016), além do ao vivo, "The Road More and Less Travelled" (2017). Eis que o mais novo capítulo da fase pós-retorno, "Tunguska", saiu na sexta-feira (14 de setembro), também pela italiana Frontiers Records. Seu curioso título faz referência à grande explosão provocada pela queda de um asteróide próximo ao rio Tunguska, na Sibéria, em 30 de junho de 1908. Metafórica e artisticamente, porém, representa a última peça do quebra-cabeça a ser encaixada após o reencontro da banda, nas palavras do guitarrista, produtor e membro fundador Anders Wikström.

A primeira música, "Progenitors", começa com uma introdução climática, para não dizer soturna, que parece ter sido feita sob medida para ser a faixa de abertura também dos shows da nova turnê, antes de desaguar em uma batida marcial pela bateria de Jamie Borger e nas cortantes guitarras de Wikström. Também conta com refrão, backing vocals, riff e solo matadores. Dona de uma levada mais Hard/AOR, "Always Have, Always Will" me fez lembrar do Europe em alguns momentos. É, de fato, uma das melhores músicas do play. Sem falar que o vocal de Robert Ernlund soa até um pouco parecido com o de Joey Tempest. Mesma impressão, aliás, causada por "Riptide", que vem mais adiante. 

"Best of Enemies" retoma o peso da primeira faixa e traz como destaque a guitarra de Wikström. Em seguida, "Rose of Jericho", o segundo single do trabalho, apresenta um ritmo mais cadenciado. Conta com ótimo refrão, belas harmonias, melodias e solo inspirado de Wikström (confira o lyric video ao final do texto). Com refrão grudento, "Hearthmath City" é um empolgante Hard Rock, que desafia o ouvinte a ficar com os pés parados. "Creeps" é, por sua vez, um Hard mais direto e não apresenta tantos corais e backing vocals como verificado em outras faixas do disco. 

Escolhida como primeiro single, "Build the Love" (cujo clipe também pode ser visto abaixo) cumpre bem a sua função de carro-chefe do álbum. Possui riff e refrão que colam na cabeça de imediato. Em "Man Overboard", os teclados e sintetizadores de Patrick Appelgren ganham protagonismo, assim como o marcante baixo de Pontus Egberg (King Diamond, ex-The Poodles), nesse que é seu primeiro disco de estúdio com o Treat.

Já "Tomorrow Never Comes" é daquelas músicas para se ouvir com os  isqueiros...ops, com os celulares erguidos nos shows. É uma bela balada com destaque para os teclados de Appelgren, ainda que Wikström brilhe nos solos de guitarra. A edição japonesa do álbum traz uma versão acústica da faixa como bônus. E aqui vale uma ressalva. A Frontiers bem que poderia dar um tempo nessas versões desplugadas (ainda mais de uma faixa já presente no disco), algo que tem sido corriqueiro nos mais recentes lançamentos da gravadora. Uma canção inédita ou um cover (nem que fosse de um clássico da própria banda) cairiam melhor. 

"All Bets Are Off" descarrega logo de cara um riff pesadão e mescla momentos mais melódicos. Por fim, "Undefeated" é mais cadenciada, sem obviamente abrir mão de um ótimo e marcante refrão, e fecha bem o disco. Com "Tunguska", seu oitavo registro de inéditas, o Treat oferece a seus fãs e de Melodic Rock em geral um trabalho coeso, que mantém o padrão de qualidade dos seus últimos lançamentos. Grandes canções, riffs e solos inspirados, melodias espalhadas por todos os lados e excelentes arranjos, que o credenciam como um dos grandes álbuns de 2018.

Ronnie Atkins präsentiert erste Solonummer Real

Es braucht nicht mehr erwähnt zu werden, dass es Ronnie Atkins gesundheitlich ziemlich schwer getroffen hat. Statt jedoch seinen Kopf in den Sand zu stecken, hat er sich zusammen gerauft und seine in sich schlummernden Ideen auf Tonträger gebraucht. Zusammen mit seinem Pretty Maids Kumpel Chris Laney, der auch gleich die Produktion übernahm, schrieb er 12 brandneue Songs für sein erstes Soloalbum One Shot, welches im März 2021 erscheinen soll. Dabei standen ihm neben Chris Laney auch Allan Sørensen (ex-Pretty Maids), Morten Sandagar (ex-Pretty Maids), Pontus Egberg (King Diamond), Anders Ringman (ex-Animal) zur Seite. Aber auch für weitere Gäste hatte es Platz für Gitarrenparts. So kamen auch Pontus Norgren (HammerFall), Kee Marcello (ex-Europe), Oliver Hartmann, John Berg (Paralydium) zu Ehren und am Mikro zusätzlich noch Linnea Vikström (At The Movies) und Björn Strid (Soilwork) zu Plattenehren.

Mit Real erscheint heute die erste Single Auskopplung aus dem Album. Herausgekommen ist eine unglaublich coole Nummer, die mir ehrlich gesagt ziemlich Gänsehaut verpasst. Tragend natürlich Ronnies unverkennbare Stimme. Der Song macht aber auch unglaublich Lust auf das kommende Album. Eine echte Perle unter den Melodic Rock Nummern in diesem Jahr.
