Online Store Accelerator Review
Online Store Accelerator Review (Will Haimerl Course)
Today, we will dive into this course by Will Haimerl and see whether or not he’s offering you the only course you’ll need to build your business. If not, then you’re still saving money by skipping to the next candidate.
I’ve actually found positive comments about this course despite how it seems to be a short program, even though it’s priced at $997. Still, I decided to take a look for myself to verify what others were saying.
This course mainly focuses on diversification and (he claims) Google Ads. There’s also content on influencers and email marketing, plus some bonuses.
Who’s the author?
Will says he’s an online marketing expert, spanning more than 10 years of experience after starting with Google Adwords. He also claims to have trained more than 11,000 marketers via group coaching, personal training, and bootcamps.
He seems to put his words to the test by running several different online stores. He’s also clearly a close friend of Don Wilson, owner of one of the most significant product launches related to eCommerce back in 2018, and he’s also founded Gearbubble.com.
Will’s course is mostly about print-on-demand dropshipping, plus he recommends his students to use Gearbubble. However, the platform can be quite expensive for some, especially its premium package, so I have doubts on whether he does so because he likes the platform or because it from his friend.
Reviewing Royal Blueprint
As some may have predicted from their friendship, this course is quite similar to Don’s. However, Will does state that this isn’t a course for Gearbubble Pro because you can use whichever platform you prefer.
He just, you know, doesn’t teach you how.
One of the only differences is the Facebook private group. You receive access to the PPC Coach group, operated by Will. Another difference is how he focuses on Google Ads. However, that’s not saying much since you’re basically paying $997 for a course on Google Ads with content you could get for free.
This course hosts on Teachables. It’s a great platform in terms of responsiveness and intuitiveness. However, Will doesn’t mention refunds, and Teachables can be painful for those wanting a refund, so be careful.
The course is divided into 8 modules, each one covering a different subject, from starting out all the way to influencers and emailing.
Module 1
It’s your standard introduction to the course. You have a short video on the course, how to join the Facebook group, and he then dives into some content regarding the mindset you should have.
There’s a final video teaching you about getting started with your store.
Module 2
The next module goes into choosing between a general and a niche-focused store and how you can set up your Google Ads account. You’re also told to buy your domain name and open a Gmail account for your store and handling its emails.
The module starts getting interesting when Will tells you to open an account on Gearbubble Pro. That’s right, Will completely skips platforms like WooCommerce, Prestashop, and even Shopify –despite the fact that he says this isn’t a Gearbubble Pro course.
Besides, Gearbubble Pro will cost you $297 monthly, which is quite an investment for someone who’s barely starting out his first eCommerce venture. Sure, there’s a $97 monthly plan, but that 5,000-visitor cap will be reached before you notice.
However, the main problem with Gearbubble is that all stores look very similar since their customization features are very limited, and it’s hard to give real character to your store. That’s why options like Shopify are much more popular.
Anyways, after you set up your account, you get to see brief videos covering how to mask your domain name, integrating PayPal and Stripe, creating your contact and “about” page, and setting your store logo.
The videos are mostly basic, and beginners won’t have a lot of trouble.
Module 3
This module focuses on finding products in two categories: print-on-demand and dropshipping. The tools Will recommends are Pinterest, AliExpress, Etsy, eBay, and of course Gearbubble.
As some of you may have noticed, there’s nothing on obvious platforms like Amazon, Intelliygence, Wish, and Facebook spying that are pretty commonplace in other course. That’s unfortunate since those platforms tend to be the easiest to use for beginners, and you always want to learn as much as possible for the money you’re spending.
The videos are also very basic and don’t offer more than other courses or free resources.
The print-on-demand-focused videos cover how you can use Photoshop and Word Swag for creating your own designs. You also have your regular outsourcing content including Fiverr and Upwork. I would’ve liked to see more content on this section like mockups, but I guess it could be added later.
The last videos are how you can upload your print-on-demand offers and implementing upsells.
All videos are mostly short. The average is around 5 minutes, and the longer ones can reach the 16-minute mark.
Module 4
This is the section on Google Shopping and Ads, and I was sure it was going to be the meat and backbone of the course, especially after seeing Will’s own words. However, this module is extremely short, and it’ll probably end just as you’re getting invested.
You get 16 videos, whereas other courses offer 3 times that content.
You learn about how Google’s Merchant Center works, how you can verify your Google account, and how to create your product feed as well as uploading it to the Merchant Center for customization. There’s also some teachings on creating your Google Ads account, conversion pixel, and how to start uploading products.
You have some videos on working with a shared budget, keywords you should a void, and wide open and target terms campaigns. The last videos focus on managing the said campaigns and your individual items through Google Shopping.
Now, some may think that’s enough and wonder why it’s short.
Well, you learn nothing on scaling your successful ads or knowing when you should end a campaign. There are a few basics missed as well, like the vital policies and disclaimers. There’s also nothing on geo setup and campaigns, bid and ROAS strategies, or single-product marketing.
Module 5
Next module talks about Facebook retargeting and how to set up your ads to follow visitors through their FB and IG pages with tracking pixels on Google Ads.
It has some content on basic setup for Facebook: business managers, store pages, FPTraffic, ad accounts, getting likes, Facebook catalogs, dynamic cart and product retargeting campaigns, and tracking sales with Facebook pixel.
It’s fine, but it’s still too basic. There are courses spending hours explaining you how to use Facebook, yet this course dedicates just half an hour. It’s also supposed to be a bonus, for some reason.
Module 6
This second “bonus” module deals with influencer marketing to get free traffic. What’s doubtful is the word “free” since I don’t think you’ll find a real influencer that will work for free, at least you’ll have to give them some incentive, and that’s still paying.
There are 6 videos here telling you how you can find your influencers, what you should offer, and how to track their sales.
Module 7
This is an extremely short module, spanning under 30 minutes, with videos on basic email marketing stuff like setting up your Mailchimp, integrating it, creating your welcome email, and using ongoing sequences.
It’s just what you can see on the quickest YouTube videos, and you can find a lot more information for free.
Module 8
The last module is just a summary of the entire system, what you should do after finishing, and how you can find support.
It honestly just feels like a filler module, especially since you can just go back and watch the other videos again if you need to remember something. Besides, if the course was actually good, you wouldn’t need pointers on what to do next.

Is It Worth It? Final Verdict
It’s just a waste of money if I’m being honest. You don’t get any meaningful content that could justify paying for this instead of just going to YouTube and watch the content for free.

14 Best ECommerce Options for Designers
With Black Friday/Cyber Monday just a few weeks away, it’s time to get clients set up and ready to sell. The list of solutions to choose from keeps on getting longer, so how do you pick which one to go with?
Start with a list of features that are must-haves for your client, be clear on what their budget is, decide how much development you want to do to get the thing set up, and whether you want a hosted solution, or separate hosting. Once you know what you need, then start looking at what’s out there.
Here’s a selection of some options that should be on your shortlist:
1. Shopify
What began as a bespoke store selling snowboarding equipment is now a platform powering half a million active stores and $40bn in sales to date. Shopify offers an easy to set up an online store with secure unlimited hosting. There is a well stocked theme store, plus a guide on building custom themes for clients who want a bespoke design.
Shopify also allows you to sell through several other channels: Facebook, Messenger, Pinterest, Amazon, and embedded Buy Buttons. Not all features are available in all countries, for example Pinterest Buyable Pins are not available outside the US. Plans start at $29 per month plus credit card fees, and transaction fees for payment gateways other than Shopify’s own.

2. Magento Open Source
Magento Open Source, formerly known as Community Edition, is a free open source (obviously) platform built in PHP. It comes with a basic, configurable store to get you started. Although the software is free, you need to provide your own hosting, and unlike hosted solutions, the security side of things is not taken care of. There are certain legal and PCI (payment card industry) requirements that must be met. To address this PayPal is the payment solution recommended by Magento.

3. OpenCart
OpenCart is another feature rich open source platform. It is module based which means extensions can be added easily. Like Magento, it is free but there is again the same responsibilty to provide secure hosting. OpenCart offers a longer list of payment gateways, and the option to add more through extensions.
This is a solution for those who like to tinker, and get stuck in to some development, and not one to let a client loose on.

4. WooCommerce
WooCommerce is an official WordPress plugin that will add a store to your WordPress site—there was a time when WordPress was for blogging, now it will even make the tea and pass you a biscuit. WooCommerce is built to work with themes, including the yearly default WordPress theme. There is also a free official theme, Storefront, which comes in 14 different flavors.
Several payment gateways are available, such as PayPal and Stripe and direct payment is an option, although it is up to the site owner to provide the SSL and other PCI compliance criteria here.
WooCommerce is completely free to install and use. Rather confusingly, clicking on the ‘Get Started’ button on the WooCommerce home page takes you to the sign up for a WordPress.com account. This gives the impression that the commerce plugin is only available on wordpress.com. That is not the case, it can be installed via your WordPress admin just like any other plugin.

5. EKM
EKM have been around since 2002, and although they are smaller than Shopify with 30,000 online shops, their sales to date of £5bn work out at a higher average sales rate per shop. They are squarely aimed at customers in the UK, although the actual stores sell internationally, with a couple of continental European offshoots.
Besides the usual list of features, themes, and payment options, EKM stress their customer support. You get a dedicated account manager free for the first three to six months, depending on the plan you choose. EKM is one of the pricier platforms, starting at £29.99 (+ VAT if applicable), but you are not paying separately for hosting, and the security is taken care of for you.
Cost: From £29.99 (approx $39) / month + fees
6. Volusion
Volusion is one of the less expensive hosted eCommerce platforms with a site builder to get up and running with. Prices start at $13.50 a month but that only allows you 100 products and bandwidth limited to 1GB. You also have to buy your own SSL if you want to use direct payments. If you use more than your allocated bandwidth you get charged, but this is instead of a per transaction charge.
Volusion also offer custom design services as well as theme help, and marketing services.

7. BigCommerce
Another hosted platform, BigCommerce starts at $29.95 per month. That includes unlimited products, file storage, bandwidth and staff accounts, hosting, SSL certificate and online sales of up to $50k per year. There are no additional transaction fees for using any of the major payment gateways, and POS transactions can be integrated with the online store.
BigCommerce also offers embeddable Buy Buttons, and integration with Facebook Shop, Amazon, eBay, and Google Shopping.

8. SupaDupa
SupaDupa is one of the newer kids on the block, and one of the cheapest of the hosted platforms. Plans start at £6 (approx. $8) per month with unlimited bandwidth and no transaction fees. Credit card gateway, unlimited products and storage, and SSL certificate are only available on the higher priced plans but at £19 per month (approx $25), that’s still pretty reasonable.
SupaDupa say they are not claiming to have a platform for everybody, it is aimed at design related or creative businesses. Design customization is limited on the lower plans but there are over 40 themes to choose from and a custom design service is available.

9. PrestaShop
PrestaShop is a free, open source platform. As with the other open source platforms mentioned, hosting is not provided and security—SSL certificates, PCI compliance etc—are your responsibility. There are a stack of payment methods available, and while not all of these modules are free, those for the big payment gateways such as PayPal and Stripe, are.
There is a well stocked theme store and a fairly active developer community. Training courses are available, and there are regular conferences and meetups.

10. LemonStand
LemonStand starts at $19 per month with no transaction fees. This includes unlimited products, storage and bandwidth, but only 75 orders per month. They claim unmatched flexibility with design customization, including the use of your choice of frontend framework.
This platform seems to be aimed less at merchants directly and more at designers and developers who are looking to build customized eCommerce solutions for clients.
Cost: $19 / month
11. Stripe
Stripe is a secure payment gateway that can be integrated with most good eCommerce platforms, or used on its own to take card payments directly using its own checkout. It can be used for card payments and some other payments methods, depending on country. There is a transaction fee, but no setup fee or subscription.
Stripe has extensions to integrate with a host of other applications to help with business admin, including Xero and Slack. Payments made through Stripe are typically paid out to your nominated bank account on a schedule based on your country and industry.

12. Paypal
Currently—probably—the best known online payment gateway to date, PayPal offers a range of payment solutions for businesses of all sizes. PayPal can be integrated with most eCommerce platforms or it can be used on its own by integrating a PayPal checkout, or embedding a PayPal button.
There are free and paid solutions and a transaction fee is charged the rate of which depends on the volume of monthly sales. Because of its high profile, PayPal is one of the more trusted payment options.
Payments made with a credit or debit card or from another PayPal account are available immediately and can be held in your PayPal wallet or withdrawn to your nominated bank account.

13. Authorize.Net
Authorize.Net payment gateway accepts all major credit cards as well as  Apple Pay, PayPal and Visa Checkout. There is a setup fee of $49 and a monthly fee of $25 on top of the transaction fee which varies depending on whether you use the payment gateway only or the full gateway with merchant account. This also includes the ability to take payments in person, over the phone, by mail or through mobile devices. You can use Simple Checkout buttons or integrate with a certified shopping cart.

14. Snapppt
Snapppt allows your customers to shop via your Instagram feed. Or at least link directly to a specific item in your store to buy it. It’s from the people behind the SupaDupa platform, and integrates with SupaDupa stores, but also other platforms including Shopify.

With Black Friday/Cyber Monday just a few weeks away, it’s time to get clients set up and ready to sell. The list of solutions to choose from keeps on getting longer, so how do you pick which one to go with?
Start with a list of features that are must-haves for your client, be clear on what their budget is, decide how much development you want to do to get the thing set up, and whether you want a hosted solution, or separate hosting. Once you know what you need, then start looking at what’s out there.

1. Shopify
What began as a bespoke store selling snowboarding equipment is now a platform powering half a million active stores and $40bn in sales to date. WooCommerce is an official WordPress plugin that will add a store to your WordPress site—there was a time when WordPress was for blogging, now it will even make the tea and pass you a biscuit. WooCommerce is built to work with themes, including the yearly default WordPress theme. There is also a free official theme, Storefront, which comes in 14 different flavors.
Several payment gateways are available, such as PayPal and Stripe and direct payment is an option, although it is up to the site owner to provide the SSL and other PCI compliance criteria here.
WooCommerce is completely free to install and use. Rather confusingly, clicking on the ‘Get Started’ button on the WooCommerce home page takes you to the sign up for a WordPress.com account. 6. Volusion
Volusion is one of the less expensive hosted eCommerce platforms with a site builder to get up and running with. Prices start at $13.50 a month but that only allows you 100 products and bandwidth limited to 1GB. You also have to buy your own SSL if you want to use direct payments. If you use more than your allocated bandwidth you get charged, but this is instead of a per transaction charge.
Volusion also offer custom design services as well as theme help, and marketing services.

7. BigCommerce
Another hosted platform, BigCommerce starts at $29.95 per month. That includes unlimited products, file storage, bandwidth and staff accounts, hosting, SSL certificate and online sales of up to $50k per year. There are no additional transaction fees for using any of the major payment gateways, and POS transactions can be integrated with the online store.
BigCommerce also offers embeddable Buy Buttons, and integration with Facebook Shop, Amazon, eBay, and Google Shopping.

8. SupaDupa
SupaDupa is one of the newer kids on the block, and one of the cheapest of the hosted platforms. Plans start at £6 (approx. $8) per month with unlimited bandwidth and no transaction fees. Credit card gateway, unlimited products and storage, and SSL certificate are only available on the higher priced plans but at £19 per month (approx $25), that’s still pretty reasonable.
SupaDupa say they are not claiming to have a platform for everybody, it is aimed at design related or creative businesses. Design customization is limited on the lower plans but there are over 40 themes to choose from and a custom design service is available.

9. PrestaShop
PrestaShop is a free, open source platform. As with the other open source platforms mentioned, hosting is not provided and security—SSL certificates, PCI compliance etc—are your responsibility. There are a stack of payment methods available, and while not all of these modules are free, those for the big payment gateways such as PayPal and Stripe, are.
There is a well stocked theme store and a fairly active developer community. Training courses are available, and there are regular conferences and meetups.

10. LemonStand

11. Stripe
Stripe is a secure payment gateway that can be integrated with most good eCommerce platforms, or used on its own to take card payments directly using its own checkout.
