India’s Biodiversity Conservation Strategy: A Blueprint for Sustainable Coexistence
India, a land of breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cultures, is also a treasure trove of biodiversity. As one of the world’s 17 megadiverse nations, India is home to nearly 8% of the planet’s recorded species, including over 45,000 plant species and 91,000 animal species. From the towering Himalayas to the serene backwaters of Kerala, from the dense forests of the Western Ghats to the arid expanses of the Thar Desert, India’s ecosystems are as diverse as its people. This incredible natural wealth is not just a source of national pride but a cornerstone of ecological balance, cultural identity, and economic sustainability. Recognizing this, India has developed a comprehensive approach to biodiversity conservation, blending traditional wisdom, scientific innovation, and community-driven initiatives to safeguard its natural heritage.

I think I'm going to carve out a couple exemptions to my self-imposed "no repeats" rule on my daily bug drawings for the cases of
I am working on a project that requires drawing the same guy multiple times. Each of those can be a daily bug
I saw it irl
I like having the rule in place bc it encourages me to pay attention to all the different little guys out there but I realized it was also discouraging me from working on larger projects piece by piece, and also from drawing more of my fave local bugs because What If I See That Guy For Real Later. So, that's my solution.

My Agatha Christie re-reading project, #63: Elephants Can Remember
My copy of this book says (in Swedish):
"AGATHA CHRISTIE – eighty-two this year – has accomplished one of her finest detective stories of a writing career spanning more than fifty years. The dense plot, rising tempo, sense of humour, vitality, suspense – 'Elephants Can Remember' has everything the Agatha Christie fan could want!"
Which is a filthy lie, but I can't really blame the publisher too much. What were they supposed to say? "This is a rambling mess from an author who should have retired five books ago." That wouldn't sell many copies!
Still, they didn't have to spread it on THAT thick. If you've watched Derry Girls, this is a Christie novel as told by Uncle Colm. I pity the first-time Christie reader who stumbles upon this one.
(I complained to my mom, and she asked, "Why do you read books you don't enjoy?" The answer, of course, is that I'm not about to give up so close to the finish line!)
The hook is pretty good. Ariadne Oliver goes to a literary party, where she is accosted by a woman who first gushes about Mrs. Oliver's books, then brings up a common acquaintance, and finally shocks Mrs. Oliver by asking if said acquaintance's father was the one to kill her mother, or vice versa.
It's intriguing. It's fun. Unfortunately, it's then followed by Ariadne Oliver (and sometimes Poirot) faffing about asking questions to a bunch of people who a) don't remember much and b) aren't memorable themselves, either. Information that could have been gathered pretty easily through official channels (like, y'know, date of death) is taken through unnecessary games of telephone. Vital clues (wigs! dogs! twins!) are repeated so many times that you end up wanting to scream at Poirot for taking so long to figure things out.
This whole "asking boring people for boring clues" angle was already poorly used in The Clocks and By the Pricking of My Thumbs, but this is so much worse. And we still have Postern of Fate to go before getting to the posthumous stuff.
I shouldn't be too mean. Like the blurb said, Christie was 82 at this point, and she was clearly unwell. Still, the verdict has to be a – very rare – 1/5.

INKtober 2024-Discovery
Professor Alphen’s exploration deep into the ruins of the ancients, reveals an incredible discovery: the ancient metal giants of old were real! Not only this would lead to a resurgence of lost arts that wolf revitalize technology, but would provide the means to create a champion to save Anima-Earth from destruction!
This was the beginning of KaiMECHA! 🤖🦾

So, this chair is from my great-grandmother, and family legend has it that it’s at least from her grandmother, if not earlier. I don’t know and don’t particularly care; it’s comfy and Family. HOWEVER. It is RATTY AS HELL. And since the shape is relatively simple, I’m doing it by myself.
HOWEVER. The last person who did this chair put about seventy staples into ONE ARM. And didn’t remove the staples or the decaying cloth from the PREVIOUS cover. So we will be doing this very slowly indeed.
It was really interesting to look at - the wood of the arm was to some degree finished underneath, though it’s looking rough now after 100+ years of cloth going on and coming off. And there’s evidence of tacks from probably three covers ago, which is cool - pre-staple gun upholstery! The foam is ancient but holding up, and since the last asshole (loathing) glued the foam on real good, I’m not doing anything about that.
I do have dire suspicions that when I get to the seat, I will have to learn New Skills, because the springs feel…weird. Also that the back is in some manner Cunningly Sewn and I will have to take a pattern from it and sew up the fabric. And I don’t know how the chair is put together. But we shall discover it one piece at a time.
