I'm also from Hertfordshire and have a weird half posh accent except I've also got a bit of Sussex and Irish in there because that's where my parents are from. In the town I go to school at however, everyone has a different accent and I sound incredibly posh to them despite being the town over. Which is weird considering I sometimes randomly shift between Irish and English accents.

oh shit same hat!! i lived in a tiny ass village called Standon, where we would walk to Puckeridge every day for school and someone always messed with the sign so it said Fuckeridge lmao

but YEAH it’s sort of a weird middle place?? like we had northern ms. smith and southern ms. smith at school as well and we genuinely differentiated them based on their accents and who had the posh a’s in things like grass

UK accents are sort of a grab bag i feel because there’s such a weirdly wide variety despite being in such a relatively small geographic location??

but on the mama thing - 

but on a very serious note when I went to visit my sister in Scotland I got into a taxi from the airport and genuinely felt my entire ass accent shift like a thousand degrees more UK and even the the cab driver was like “You don’t sound that american but I can tell you’ve spent time there so I would guess you’d spent a few years in school there or something” and when i asked him why he’d say that he said it was because i started quite a few sentences with “I guess” like wILD i didn’t even think of that as a difference between countries

there are some words i pronounce the english way (like water) and others i pronounce the american way (like lieutenant) and I have genuinely given up on spelling at this point like am i going to write colour or color? not even god knows at this point

It’s a big weekend of Representative Rugby over the upcoming Long weekend. The Senior Men’s, Women’s and Under 19 Colts NSW Country Championships will be played in Tamworth on Saturday and Sunday. Also over the weekend the combined Junior NSW Country/NSW State Championships will be played for both Boys and Girls at various venues around NSW including at Camden Rugby Park. Illawarra teams will be involved all over the place to endeavor to bring home some more Country and even State titles. I’ll be in Tamworth and will be keeping you up to date on the IDRU Facebook page with match up dates as they happen and with full Match Reports at the end of each day. There was an interesting aspect to the article during the week on Women’s Rugby on the IDRU Website and Facebook page. As of now the article has reached over 4,000 people on Facebook. The other regular contributions from the Rogue on Facebook have an average reach of 2000, half as many. That surely would suggest that there is strong interest out there for Women’s Rugby in the Illawarra. The finals matches in Super Rugby over the weekend were interesting in so many ways. I really enjoyed the Brumbies win in Canberra which pretty much followed the same pattern as all the other matches. The impact of the various benches had on the matches was very evident with the replacement players finishing off things in all the matches. The big disappointment for me in Canberra was all the empty seats. It’s an indication of just where Rugby is in Australia. Twenty years ago you wouldn’t get a seat if you took too long to move when the Brumbies were playing a finals match in town.  

Super Rugby Semi Final time and last week’s qualifying matches went completely as the form line suggested they would. The Blues and the Crusaders have been the form sides throughout the year. The Blues have lost only once way back in their first game of the year. The Crusaders have lost three times to the Chiefs, the Blues and the Waratahs. The Chiefs and the Brumbies have lost four times. Everything points to the Crusaders and the Blues winning this week and going through to the Final in a week’s time. My tips for the Semi’s: Crusaders and Blues to win.
