Your Task
This assessment evaluates your SQL querying proficiency and your ability to justify and explain query logic. You will receive a database schema, data, and a scenario. You can use Gen AI tools for specific tasks only. The assessment consists of a SQL query task (Part A) and a detailed video explanation (Part B).
Assessment Description
In this assessment, you will use a case study provided as a supplementary document. Your task is to retrieve data on the given database using My SQL to find answers to the questions in the Assessment Instructions. The database contains thousands of rows of data, making it impractical to find answers manually.
This assessment aims to achieve the following subject learning outcomes:
LO1:Investigate the use of Relational Database Management Systems in organisations.LO2:Construct database models.LO4:Create queries to manage data using a database query language.
Assessment Instructions
Part A: SQL Querying
As an individual, you must download the database and data files and load them into MySQL. Once loaded, you must develop queries for the following questions:
Note: You should include a comment above each query, specifying which question you are answering. In addition, you can use Gen AI tools to get an idea about how to answer Questions (110)only, and responses to the SQL queries should be restricted to only the clauses used in workshop materials.

Include your SQL queries in a single .sql file and submit it via MyKBS.
Part B: Video Explanation
You should record a video discussing the following:
Justify each SQL query in detail, including the syntax, the purpose of the query, and the appropriate output.
Ensure your video is clear and audible.
Show your SQL queries and the database schema while you explain.
Keep your explanation concise and focused within a 9-minute to11-minute time frame.
Recording and Submission
You can record the video presentation using Kaltura and submit the recording after reviewing. Click the below link to learn how to record using Kaltura:

Welcome to the Comfort Zone
I mentioned in Question #10 that comfort can create stagnation in life. So, this question today has me thinking about how the question could be phrased better. There was a song by Vanessa Williams in the early 90s called Comfort Zone, and that was where I got the inspiration for the title of this blog post. Yes. Vanessa Williams. Her album entitled Comfort Zone was bloody brilliant back in the day.
Question 11: What or who gives me comfort?
I keep repeating this question in my head because I mentioned the safety I feel in my beloved's arms. This security is also a form of comfort. I don't solely rely on him for comfort though because that is a heavy burden to carry. All my thoughts and fears. It's just too much.
It gives me comfort to know that I survived living another month of life, bills and all.
It gives me comfort knowing my family members are healthy and safe.
It gives me comfort to know that I have a man who loves me regardless of my flaws.
It gives me comfort to know that life could be much worse.
It gives me comfort to eat a good home-cooked meal.
It gives me comfort to eat some chocolate when I'm PMSing.
It gives me comfort to receive a hug from a loved one.
I suppose that anything familiar brings me comfort.

You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?
Mention that I know the person and that we are friends to see if they retract their comments. If they still stand by what they said I would just explain that I disagreed.

When I was a child I did it all the time when shopping with my people. Sometimes I do it now when I'm bored.
