Second up is Kea.

Built by WECO for Fullers in 1988, she was one of the most recognisable ferries in the harbour, followed closely by Quickcat.

In 2020, she was deemed unsafe and withdrawn from service. She then spent the next three years being moved around from wharf to wharf before being towed up to Whangārei and being scrapped in late 2023.

The public reaction was immense, but Fullers360 were deadset on scrapping rather than modernising her. This came as Fullers360 began to weasel out of its contracted runs, blaming everything (& everyone) from fuel shortages to lack of staff and everything in between.

Kea will be missed.

Testing A Tiny Lawn Care Trailer!

I FORGOT ABOUT THIS VIDEO FROM LAST YEAR! 🙂 Let’s publish it to make room for new videos! This was from June 2018 and you can tell how old it is from the logos on the trailer, the old storage setup in the trailer, the old end-screen using the Big Dog and the hat I am wearing. That is not Copper Creek Cut’s hat!

Let’s see if my Big Dog Alpha AND Bob-Cat Quickcat mowers will fit in the 5 X 10 enclosed lawn care trailer at the same time! And while we are at it, why do you even think I need two mowers at once? You know I am a solo lawn care operator, so what gives? Let me know what you think in the comments!

Productive Zero Turn Mowers return to SALTEX

Bobcat zero turn mowers return to SALTEX for the third year at the new venue to meet their existing customers and to have the opportunity to meet new ones too!

On the Bobcat stand will be a range of “high productivity” commercial mowers ranging from the unique 28″ narrow access unit up to the 72″ wide area rider mower with all the “bells and whistles” plus the 36″ QuickCat “stand- on” mower which is probably the most productive Bobcat mower in the range. Great visibility , with a 30% shorter chassis than a rider plus has a narrower width.

Zero turn mowers are amongst the most productive mowers available because of their manoeuvrability and ability to turn in their own footprint which can dramatically cut down the amount of time cutting grass plus much less strimming is needed because the machines can get very close to obstacles.

Fullers360 Tiri Kat, now AT Metro Tiri Kat seen arriving into Westhaven.

New to Fullers as Quickcat II in the late 90s, she was mercifully renamed to the more creative Tiri Kat.

In 2022, she was purchased off Fullers by AT Metro, alongside Starflyte, D5, and Wanderer. She was given a total refurbishment and, I believe, made into a more accessible vessel. An assumption I make given what AT did with Starflyte and D5.
