Chapter Two: This Week's Runners-up! ~

And our (very strong) runners-up this week are @batatafilosofal, @hanavesinauttija, and @spooky-bard!

@batatafilosofal — Alesha Defies Death (Alesha, Who Smiles at Death)

I think this card, despite being one of my favorites, suffers from being just a little too out there for the winner’s circle. Despite that, it’s a tight margin, and I genuinely wanted to make more space for winners this week. Alas, restrictions and creativity—restrictions like mana, which mean that this could be an RWW Jeskai splash in the Khans world, weirdly enough? What I really like is how you made that overlap okay with your mana necessities, and on top of that the way that you placed this card in the world is just plain cool. It’s the timeline’s story that was unbroken no matter where the clans went, a story that echoes.

That ultimate is a bit crazy, but no matter, I would’ve done two. The first ability, I believe, should be worded like Urza’s Saga: “Alesha Defies Death gains “Creatures you control have first strike.”” Bit wordy but you can adjust the text box sizes or whatever. Middle chapter is awesome still. So where does that lead us? I want to commend you first and foremost for really spinning a new idea onto an older story. Surprising and impressive all at once.

@hanavesinauttija — Isperia, Assassin’s Trophy (Assassin’s Trophy)

Not much to say that’s not already present, right? Phenomenal job making this card out to be the actual trophy part of the trophy; honestly the original spell seems slightly odder in its namesake compared to this card. It’s great to see it be a monument, almost. The reflection in the flavor text of that change is both welcome and natural. Vraska’s stony return is fascinating and speaks to the power of this moment’s presence. It lends an almost in medias res quality; we return to Ravnica again, and boom, there’s no Isperia. Here’s her trophy. What happened? We don’t get to see the assassination, and that’s all the more mysterious.

It’s also a great way to get rid of your lands, heh. Excess lands? Sac ‘em and weep. This card is great for getting death triggers as well as mitigating the damage from tokens. Your own tokens biting the dust is great, too! Drawing and gaining life is excessively powerful when done this repeatedly, but if you have a 10/10 trampler coming after you, it ain’t gonna do as much good. But it could be okay if you draw into something! Who are we kidding, though. Maybe you get burned out instead and nobody attacks, heck. That’s not gonna happen in limited, though, and this card is a weirdly interactive warning for all who dare want to come by and take what Vraska rightfully stoned up. I’d have to see this one in action, honestly. Perhaps the discouragement from attacking is a bit much.

@spooky-bard — Adversary’s Executor (Grand Crescendo)

Heck it. This card’s a personal favorite of mine this week. You got this guy that I’m totally not imagining as a handsome ogreish bouncer coming in and wrecking the party, and, uh... Lost my train of thought. This card’s still absolutely amazing, though, and I’m glad it’s a rare and a stunner of a bomb. It’s rare that you see a card with such a clear pre-combat vibe to it, a threat to end all threats. The citizens clear out, and now even the big boys are going to have to contend with the hustle of an ogre who’s been sold to the highest bidder, that being Mob Nixilis.

Having the treasures be tapped is probably the best option, so good call there, whoof. I wouldn’t call it a boardwipe but it makes the 4/3s that you’ve been amassing all the crazier. Menacing into some chump-blockers feels awesome for sure, and then the combination of Riveteer Treasures and Maestro kick-you-while-you’re-down-ing just ends up being awesome, too. I think this is a great other-side-of-the-page card for sure. It has nothing to do with the mechanics of its predecessor and everything to do with its presence. Admittedly, killing a bunch of 1/1s is relevant, but I mean in terms of the cards’ goals, that those are antithetical. One of them wants to be the life of the party, and this card? This card wants to clear the room, because it’s bashing and looting time. The show’s hardly over, but it’s sure as heck stopped.

Windows server provides two RD sessions are permitted in Administration mode. The Remote Desktop Session Host feature cannot be installed on Windows Server Essentials. If you want more connections, you need to set up a separate Windows Server server as a RD server.

Remote Desktop or access anywhere takes over one of my computers. I will need at least 3 people signed in from remote location and 6 people logged in at server location. I do not see this happening in essentials. Essentials only allows 2 people logged in from remote location. I have purchased Windows Server standard R2. Now I just need to know how to install this to do what im trying to accomplish. From what I have read, If I install standard as hyper-v role and use essentials as a virtual machine then I should be able to accomplish what im looking for.

Is this right? Can I have all my users use virtual desktop? Like I said VPN works, but is slow. So either you need to add some old PC's to your essentials and let the user s from afar remote to them or go with a Terminal Server. If you purchase Server R2 you can install 2 Server R2 virtual machines. You could setup Essentials role in one if you like rww and client backup, and in the other, enable the multipoint role. It is a wizard driven terminal server that is very easy to implement.

I am trying to find the best way to get all the computers connected to our business file QuickBooks and other programs located on the server. Remote Desktop takes up our desktops that are being used by other employees.

Tuesday, February 17, AM. Virtualization will not help anything. Anywhere Access in Essentials is what you want to look at. It will configure a VPN so the PC's not at the home office will think they are at the home office. It works, but I find VPN to be very slow but I have slow DSL. In your first message you said you needed user to get to the quickbooks file. This made it sound like you had quickbooks installed on the PC's. In your last post it sounds like you have quickbooks installed only on the server and windows server only allows 2 remote desktop sessions for administration purposes.

When server was first set up, all computers had quickbooks loaded on them. Essentials was all we needed. But since then we have expanded and now have 2 locations. Need more than 2 logins. Tried using VPN connection but QuickBooks is way to slow. Seems like it is loading complete company file onto remote computer.

Contingency plans in the mid-30s for an expected European war precluded the deployment of Indian troops in Europe for political and other reasons.

However, on the outbreak of war animal transport having been phased out in the British army it was decided to position some elements from the Royal Indian Army Service Corps to support the British Expeditionary Force in France. Force K6 under Lieutenant Colonel RWW Hills, MC (Military Cross) consisting of 22, 25, 29 and 32 Mule Companies and a supply depot, a reinforcement unit, part of an Indian General Hospital, and a remount section was sent to France, which reached there in December 1939.

For political reasons and reasons of cohesion and ease of supply, only Muslims were sent most being Punjabis with a few Pathans.

The animal transport units were soon in great demand for moving stores, ammunition and supplies and were stationed at Le Havre, Dieppe, Le Mans and Arras. But at the Dunkirk evacuation in June 1940, all animals had to be abandoned, together with supplies and equipment. The men were very distressed at having to leave their mules and horses behind, since they were attached to the animals in their care.

They gave them away to local people in northern France. The 22 Mule Company was captured by the Germans. A British officer stated, "During the chaos (of the withdrawal), they maintained the discipline, turn-out and self-respect which many around them had lost, enhancing the reputation of the Indian army."

Back in Britain, Force K6 was equipped initially with French army horses and later re-equipped with mules imported from the USA. Originally stationed in Cornwall, later they moved to various places in Wales and finally the north of Scotland where they trained for a possible invasion of Norway. The unit returned to India in April 1944 and deployed to Burma. Over the years I have received a number of letters and emails from people, who while growing up during the war met these Indians and remember them as being very polite and well-behaved. Children particularly relished the treats they gave them! Force K6 was the first Indian army unit to see action in World War 2.

A British officer's devotion to his troops We have often heard about British officers' attachment to their Indian troops. The particular case of Liberal Democrat leader Lord 'Paddy' Ashdown's father, Lieutenant Colonel JWRD Ashdown, illustrates this well. Then a Captain commanding 32 Mule Company with Force K6, he was ordered by a senior commander, during the retreat to Dunkirk to abandon his Indian soldiers and mules to their fate in the face of the advancing Germans.

The British officers were to be evacuated. Abandoning the animals he could understand, they required special arrangements for evacuation which the British, desperately short of transport just could not make. However, he flatly refused to countenance any thought of leaving behind his beloved men. He repudiated the blatantly racist order, brought all his jawans back by securing berths for them on a ship bringing them back to Britain.

Back in the UK he had to face a court-martial for his insubordination. Ashdown's defence was simple. "I simply thought that these were my men, I was responsible for them, and must bring them back. That was the beginning and the end of it." Later, sense dawned upon the authorities and the court-martial was thrown out. Ashdown's dedication to his men was not an isolated case, there being many such examples among British officers.

The often-forgotten history of the 87,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in WWII. Their stories are rarely know, their struggles rarely mentioned, and the racism continues to be evaded.
