i'll be honest, i don't understand why it's so surprising to people that hindus commit various forms of violence in bengal, where violence against muslims is a routine occurrence.
what was surprising to me is that the vegetarians in question aren't vegetarians at all, they were simply dabbling in vegetarianism to celebrate ram navami; the couple who called the police and the woman cooking the fish are all bengalis of similar background, they are intimately aware of each others cultural tendencies.
and the really strange part is that the police actually responded to this on a day that is quite busy for them, to quote from the article:
In the past few years, West Bengal has not only witnessed huge participation in events related to Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti, but also reported several untoward incidents. Last year violence was reported at Rishra in Hooghly district as well as in Howrah. Central forces were deployed in several sensitive areas on Hanuman Jayanti after judicial intervention. On March 30 last year, violence broke out during a Ram Navami procession in Dalkhola in North Dinajpur district. The police initially booked 162 people in the wake of communal violence triggered by an attack at Tajamul Chawk, Uttar Dalkhola. On March 26 in 2018, clashes were reported during a Ram Navami procession at Raniganj in West Bardhaman district. One person was killed and several police officers were injured. Asansol-Durgapur Deputy Commissioner of Police Arindam Dutta Chowdhury was attacked with a bomb and he lost his hand in the attack. The tension then spread to Asansol. The police also recovered the body of a Muslim man who was killed allegedly in communal violence. Around 60 people were arrested in the case. A day before that, on March 25, 2018, a statue of freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad was pulled down and a man was killed, following an armed Ram Navami procession at Kankinara in North 24 Parganas district’s Bhatpara municipality.

Returning to 'Soft Hindutva' with Kamal Nath for 2023 MP elections, this is the Congress' 'Ram Navami' directive
Returning to ‘Soft Hindutva’ with Kamal Nath for 2023 MP elections, this is the Congress’ ‘Ram Navami’ directive
As the Congress decides to contest the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections under the leadership of its veteran leader Kamal Nath, the party seems to be back to its tried and tested ‘soft Hindutva’ policy, which was seen in the 2018 state elections. The big old party in its manifesto talked of building cowsheds in every village and developing Hindu pilgrimage places in the state. However, now…

'Build powerful cognitions in your system whether you feel it's easy, difficult or impossible. Build powerful cognitions.'
🌺The Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam 🌺
Paramahamsa Nithyananda's message on Ram Navami
'Today is Purushottama Paramapavana Bhagavan Sri Rama Chandra Prabhu’s birthday.
Vishnu Himself incarnates as Sri Ram, Adi Shesha appears as Lakshmana, His Chakra and Shanka appearing as Bharat and Shatrughan.
We forget today is the day four incarnations landed together. All four incarnations have happened on this auspicious day.
Rama is the symbol of everything best in the universe - Purushottama. He is the grand narrative of Hinduism
Even though he was targeted so much, the kind of powerfulness he demonstrated. I tell you, the highest powerfulness is not using your powers even when you are attacked and waiting for the law of Karma to do its job. Not at all becoming silly in the inner space, and enjoying the whole game
Rama is something extraordinary.
He has demonstrated all the great qualities to be a grand narrative, His Tyaga and powerfulness in front of all the situations.
Somebody has to have that kind of Tyaga to demonstrate the power of the values, giving courage and confidence to people on the power of Dharma.
People need to be given courage and confidence to practice Dharma.
Each incarnation has a reason, Rama’s was the most difficult. Remaining within the boundaries of a human frame - has to demonstrate the grandeur of the Dharma.
He has done something extraordinary, what an incarnation.
He continues to remain as the grand narrative of Indian civilization, Hindu civilisation, of Santana Dharma - Poorna Purushottama.
You being attacked is not something big, everyone gets attacked. Whether you are a beggar or a king, everyone is attacked. How you respond that decides whether you are great or not.
Being attacked doesn’t make you unique, how you respond makes you unique.
Thousands of kings have lost their kingdom. Nobody has become part of the history.
Losing a kingdom doesn’t make you part of history, how you respond makes you part of history.
His kinghood wasn’t taken away when the kingdom was taken away, that’s the reason he remains as Raja Rama.
Understand, his kinghood wasn’t taken away, that’s the reason he remains as Raja Rama forever.
Still we worship him only in the throne. His Patta Abhishekam scene is the most worshipped scene. Even though he has done so many wonderful things.
When his kingdom was removed from him, his kinghood wasn’t removed from him because it was built from his powerful cognitions.
He was king because of his powerful cognitions, not because of his external powers.
Build your personality from your powerful cognitions, that is what is the message from Ramayana.
One line message of Sri Rama is, build your whole life on powerful cognitions.
I should say the message of whole Rama’s life is nothing but manifesting powerful cognitions. You can call it as Tyaga, but he doesn’t even feel he has done Tyaga because of powerful cognitions.
The powerfulness he demonstrated when everything was taken away from him became his message or I should say usually people build their brand when the are great kings, queens, powerful people. Rama is the only person, he built his brand when he lost everything!
No one can use the opportunities like Rama, the worst opportunities he has used the best.
Build powerful cognitions about life, understandings about life. Your powerful cognitions act like a magnet and attracts situations, people of that same caliber in your life; manifest that same caliber experiences in your life.
Build powerful cognitions in your system, whether you feel it’s easy, difficult or impossible. Build powerful cognitions.'

Ensayo corto sobre festivales indios
Festivales indios

This celebration is identified with the success and prosperity that is the reason in this day everything looks brilliant and lively. Likewise, individuals wear conventional articles of clothing on Gudi Padwa.
Tumblr media
'Ugadi' which is the popular celebration of Andhra Pradesh and 'Yugadi', the celebration of Karnataka are similar celebrations yet both are articulated diversely in the separate areas. The day likewise denotes the start of Chaitra Navratri as indicated by the lunisolar Hindu date-book, that paves the way to Ram Navami, Lord Rama's birthday to be commended on a ninth day. This year the celebration will be commended on March 18, 2018, on the grounds that Navratri is additionally beginning from this day.
For all intents and purposes the festivals are regularly connected to the adjustment in season and to the sowing and procuring of yields. This day denotes the finish of one horticultural reap and the start of another one. The Gudi Padwa or Ugadi is in this manner celebrated toward the finish of the Rabi season. Likewise, in this day there are numerous delightful dishes and treats are made where the creation of "Puran-puri" is a custom on this day.
This day is likewise accepted to be propitious for 'vaastu puja' and for starting new business adventures. On this day, a few parades are likewise taken out. In this day, the families get together and the general population visits their old companions. Likewise, the general population, who remain away including out of the nation and the individuals who don't meet relatives during the time express well-wishes through telephone calls to their relatives and companions.
