Things I would change if I could reboot Ranma 1/2

Ranma Saotome is coded as grey or demi aro-ace: it doesn’t have to be explicit, i just think it would add a nice dimension to Ranma’s seeming aversion to being in a relationship

Ranma’s gender would be more ambiguous/open to interpretation: this one’s purely self-indulgent. I want queer, gender-punk Ranma so badly!

Lesbian Akane Tendo: it takes the first 2 seasons for her to realize and maybe half of season 3 to come out, the rest of the series has her trying to decide how she feels about her engagement to Ranma in light of this

Akane can keep her temper, but it stops being wildly misdirected: like when a girl starts flirting with Ranma and she gets mad at Ranma instead of the girl? yeah that stops.

Give Akane Tendo more to do in general?: she desperately needs a more active role in whatever plot the show can be said to have

Shampoo steadily gets better at speaking the dubbed language

Less racism all around. Please. Just. Burn it? Burn it all... 😬😬😬

Ukyo Kuonji is bisexual and knows it: she already canonically doesn’t care about Ranma’s curse, and we honestly need some bisexuals who aren’t disasters please...

Ranma♂ and Ranma♀ being the same person is more or less an open secret, at least at school: most of their classmates have figured it out by the end of season 2, they just don’t say anything to be polite. Kuno, however, is an idiot and could not put two and two together if you put two rocks in each hand and told him to count them.
